Hey, random question, but do you think the Elves of LotR - because of their lifespans - thought of Turtles/Tortoises as appropriate pets, and perhaps had a fondness for them similar to humans with dogs? I mean, for a thousand year old elf, a tortoise that lives to 100+ is basically like humans living to 100 and having dogs that live to 10- years. Just a random thought that occurred to me, and for some reason, when I have random thoughts like these I come to you haha (Hope that's okay)

What an absolutely delightful thought. Perhaps they would think of parrots and other long-lived birds similarly? 🤔 I like the idea!

Heyy I was listening to some random french song and I suddenly remembered you used to sing as a hobby, do you still do that? How's that going?

Hi!!! I still love singing, but I don't find as many opportunities to do it and that makes me kinda sad. I used to sing in the church choir in college, and I LOVED every second of it. But since moving back home and getting a job, I've found two things:

It's hard to find the time in the day when I'm alone and can really let loose

The Catholic churches around here range from "what the fuck are you preaching?? That's not in the Bible??" to "WhyisTheMusicSoDarnFAST" to "...eh"

Sooooooo finding a community where 1. a nonbinary soul like mine feels welcome, 2. the priests (and congregants) aren't racist and isl*mophobic as fuck, and 3. the music is half-way decent (and not sung like an Olympic sprinting event??) has been a #Struggle. But I'm still looking!

It's nice to hear from you! 💜🌟 (maybe drop the title of that French song 👀)

“Excuse me, barkeep, this one is on me,” a familiar voice pipes up from behind him. Owen whirls in his seat.

“Hermes?”

Lo and behold, the messenger god herself stands amongst the dwindling crowds, one hand on her hip and another twirling a wing-tipped cigarette holder, and smirks. She looks like she hasn’t aged since they last saw each other. Probably hasn’t, Owen thinks. It’s not like he knows how all this god stuff works anyway.

“The very same.” Hermes takes a drag from her cigarette, blowing a cloud of strangely floral smoke into Owen’s face, before gesturing to the barstool next to him. “Is this seat taken?”

“Uh, no, no,” he says, straightening his coat as Hermes delicately settles in the chair, looking like she owns the place. “Always free for you, love.”

“You’re too kind, Owen. Come here.” With a refreshingly genuine smile, Hermes pulls Owen in and kisses him twice on his cheeks. “You’re looking well.”

“You don’t have to lie, dear.”
