Deeply saddened by the recent passing of George Winston. His music feels like the soundtrack to the earlier parts of my life. He will be missed.

In memory of George Winston who passed away on Sunday (Obituary). Here he performs a song he wrote just last year, "Blues For Ukraine".
I have previously post his performance of "Thanksgiving" from his 1982 album December.

selections from my week in media [17-23 december 2023]
[listening]
December / George Winston (piano solos) - My favorite Christmas album, possibly my favorite album of all time. It's one of those 'whole album' listening experiences. And never shuffled. The last few weeks have been very sad for my family, and this album is a comfort and easy to listen to on repeat.
[watching]
For Him - More pieces of the puzzle of Him and Blue's relationship were revealed. Am I the only one getting a malevolent vibe off of Te? He has been so creepily intense in the way he's pursuing Nail and it's got me wondering how he was with Blue and if it had anything to do with what happened. Was he this overt with Blue? Or did he interfere in Blue and Him's relationship in subtle ways? Is that what lead to what I'm assuming was Blue's breakdown? I have many thoughts and a longer post started, because I'm fascinated by the possibilities. There is so much show left, so I'm almost afraid to get my hopes up about what's coming (gimme that sweet sweet angst and melodrama).
Pit Babe - Where do I even begin. This episode gave us so much. Babe is giddy in love with Charlie. Charlie brought up kids seconds after Babe said 'let's be boyfriends' and that morphed into kinky reversal play in the locker room. Also Babe is going to be Mama. I'm dead. Alan and Jeff? I love them. Every scene was a delight. Way finally said the words out loud and it hurt. Like a lot. I need Whatshisface to step up now and make it all better.

Adieu To One Of A Kind
Word spread this week that composer/pianist George Winston succumbed on June 4, 2023, to cancer which he had been fighting for over a decade,
Many of us are old enough to remember when Windam Hill Records launched, introducing many great musicians, including Winston.
My favorite work by George is December and it remains one of my “go-to” albums when I need to force myself to relax. For many…

Pianist George Winston Dies at 73
Pianist George Winston has died at 73.
His family said Winston’s June 4 death came “quietly and painlessly … while asleep” after a “10-year battle” with various cancers.
“Throughout his cancer treatments, George continued to write and record new music, and he stayed true to his greatest passion: performing for live audiences while raising funds for Feeding America to help fight the national hunger crisis along with donating proceeds from each of his concerts to local food banks,” Winston’s family said.
Winston’s holiday concerts were a musical tradition, one that included stops in Minnesota nearly every year since 1981.
“Each December, George arrived … and allowed us all to slow down from the busiest season of the year to enjoy stillness, reflection and peace,” the Minnesota Orchestra said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with his family and the loved ones he leaves behind.”
Winston’s career spanned more than 50 years and 16 solo-piano albums. His most famous, Autumn and December, arrived in the early 1980s and were followed by tributes to Vince Guaraldi, the Doors and other artists.
His latest release, an EP titled Solo Piano Pieces for Spring, came out in February.
“May the great pianist George Winston rest in peace and love,” Todd Rundgren’s Spirit of Harmony Foundation said.
