It’s 2023 and I do not understand how you can be an anti and still consume Hetalia like??? Hetalia is full of problematic ships, whether some of you noticed or not. But here we are, surrounded by fans who think their OTP is the most “pure” and “wholesome”, not even realizing that your ship; if you look deeply enough is as problematic as the rest of the created Hetalia ships. Be it the history they shared, their moments, dynamic and personalities when meshed together.

The ones notably that got the most hate is the incest ships. Especially directed at Germancest that I noticed. Knowing this, I’m not sure if I should laugh or shake my head because:

1) out of all the ships in there; their relationship is one of the most wholesome. If you were to find one that is “healthy” for Germany and Prussia; it would be the two of them together. But because they are brothers, people will bend backwards to justify how utterly disgusting the pairing is

2) consider their history together and how it is implied that they are the West-East of Germany, backed up by Prussia calling him “West” in canon. It is very easy to see them as a couple, regardless the relationship they have. Dad-Son, Mom-Son, Brother-Brother; whatever you want to call it.

They are, out of the many ships in Hetalia; canonly live together in one house. How many characters did you see shared a home together? How many have you seen moments of them being domestic together? Germany and Prussia are basically married.

Again. Whatever labels you want to call them, you cannot deny how good they are for one another.

really craving a slowburn modern time germancest fic today placed in canon verse... Gilbert and Ludwig reunites after Berlin Wall fall, and they start living together and Ludwig slowly realises he doesn't know his "brother" as much as he thought after all. There has been a long time that the Gilbert he knew is essentially a different person than the Gilbert right now, despite having the same face and some same mannerism. While he had always seen Gilbert as this age old senior always, now he can kind of see Gilbert with his equal footing. and sometimes Gilbert feels a bit too human and not the fearsome blood thirsty maniac he had always seemed to be.

Then Ludwig is way too busy, while Gilbert - Where he is in charge of the East, seems to take it almost too easy. Both their philosophies has taken different moulds.

They appear for news interviews together, make ads. sometimes there are some issues in the cabinet about Gilbert's credibility, but of course the nations are more like public figures than anything of more importance. Sometimes it frustrated Ludwig, but Gilbert seems to take it in stride. He doesn't seem to care all that much that a lot of people want to actually get rid of him, but he's here now and that's all that matters.

The story would just be them following their own separate yet entertwined lives and at one point Ludwig would see Gilbert doing something so incredibly human and stupid and would go, "Oh."

What are the odds that the guy you fall in love with at club is your brother?

In my mind there was a serious accident made them orphans, Ludwig lost his memory, and was adopted while he was still in the hospital. Gilbert was never adopted, he suffered from a false memory believing that his baby brother had died with his parents(partly because they were not in the same ward back then). He went to an orphanage and struggled to live alone (his unreliable friends actually helped him a lot most of the time). The family who adopted Ludwig was very wealthy and they provided Ludwig with everything.

I was obsessed with giving these brothers sad sad sad stories... out of my love for them🫵🥺
