Nate was recently teasing me about the fact that I've watched the entirety of the Ginga Densetsu Weed anime (because of course I have), and this morning I just had a random thought about the villain'a back story.

I forget if it was framed as neglect or not, but like... It was just kodoku, with dogs.

(Kodoku as in 蠱毒, not as in loneliness.)

So like, are the two great dane brothers like the canine version of the ryoumen sukuna mummy in that 2ch creepypasta?

Google is telling me the Weed manga ran from 1999 to 2009, and I'm pretty sure the ryoumen sukuna urban legend post is from the early 00s. (I checked--it was first posted in 2005. Also apparently there's a Jujutsu Kaisen character based on ryoumen sukuna as well.)

The Weed anime, meanwhile, ran from 05-06, and ended after the great dane brothers arc, and apparently took a lot of story liberties when compared to the manga.

Considering production turnaround times, it's likely a coincidence, but it's still really funny to me. (And probably only me.)

Finnish Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and Urumi/PurePlastic merchandise🐶

Something interesting about the Japanese series “Sliver Fang” or “Ginga Nagareboshi Gin” is that in it somehow got really popular in Finland and the North in general, but for Finland it got many Finnish translation releases,

and to this day it’s very well loved and known there to my knowledge, So it wouldn’t be so farfetched for merchandise to be made and sold there,

Such as:

PurePlastic’s/Urumi’s plush line, these plush were made to release in Finland, they could also be shipped to other Scandinavian countries and South Korea, making them a little hard to find, though some characters are easier to find them others, there still pretty well loved even popular around the Ginga fandom and again since they had a county exclusive release there a bit hard to find along with being very wanted making them pretty pricey, but there high quality makes the item the worth the price for many.

Tags (two different known swing tags, green is the first release of a line of classic characters that appear in the 80s anime, and the blue tag is the line of more modern characters that appear in the 2000s anime and even in comics.)

Honestly it’s clear to see how much Finland loves this series, Urumi definitely has a large category for any Ginga fan, though the plushies are still the most well loved, it’s still interesting to take a look at other items as well.

Ginga densetsu weed<3 um I watched this sooooo long go but gist of it is weed (husky in the center) is the relative of some legend dog that took down a bear and saved the other dogs or something. And then that like land he saved for the dogs got taken over by some evil dogs so we follow weed as one he tries to find his father and two . Take back like dog land or whatever.

Oh it's a dog eiehehejejebe that sounds. Intense!
