GMK Godzilla is that weird relative that always shows up at family reunions despite not being invited
Oh that’s very fun! I’m thinking about making him Millennium Godzilla’s brother in the AU. Mostly for drama purposes…. This would also mean that Orga is GMK Godzilla’s kid… and that’s kinda really funny to me

Legendary Godzilla fans: Mothra and Goji love each other they would never hurt each other
Toho Godzilla fans: *gestures at*
Tumblr media
That time we found out Goji blood is yellow as Mothra and her brother- Battra- lifted him in the air to drop him in the ocean. This is, of course, immediately before Godzilla kills her brother.
Tumblr media
The iconic. The flawless. The always a win: Mothra tail drag. In OG Gojilore: Mothra’s never seen a tail she isn’t gonna bite or grab lmao. This is also the movie where Godzilla killed her mother.
Tumblr media
And who could forget that time Goji got possessed by the spirits of everyone who died in the Pacific Theater of WW2 and everyone had to team up to put him down like Old Yeller.
They fight guys, it’s okay. Mothra is a defender of peace and the balance of nature; Godzilla is a force of nature summoned to bring vengeance down on humanity because of the havoc caused by industrialization, nationalism, and nuclear power. They’re often on the same side as a result, but there’s definitely times when Goji’s drive for vengeance upsets the balance of nature and Mothra has to fight to rein him in.

Restless Souls: the Origins of the Most Evil Godzilla
Tumblr media
It's no secret to anyone that Godzilla has run almost the entire morality spectrum in terms of morality in his 60+ career. He's gone from being an allegory for the hydrogen bomb to a destructive force of nature to a defender of the earth and back again, sometimes within the same film. It is to be expected for a series that's been around for so long with various creators having their own interpretations and view of the character, and how societal norms have changed over the years.
In this regard, the version seen in Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack (or GMK for short) is...unique.
Tumblr media
This particular version of the king of the monsters is widely considered to be the most malevolent he's ever been. Granted, he's no stranger to being a bad guy and causing catastrophic amounts of death and destruction. But this incarnation is especially monstrous. There's a number of times where he almost seems to smile or sneer at the terrified civilians he's killing, whereas most versions are just rage incarnate. Even his design looks wrong, with those milky white blank eyes making him appear more like a ghoulish harbinger of death as opposed to any actual animal.
Well...there's an in-universe reason for why this particular Godzilla is so destructive than normal.
Hirotoshi Isayama: “This animal contains the restless souls of the countless people who perished during the terrible battles that took place during the Pacific conflict.”
Yuri Tachibana: “Their souls? In Godzilla?”
Hirotoshi Isayama: “In Godzilla, the souls of all those people have combined to bring life to the monster. Believe me, I have tried to warn people but they refused to listen. They think I'm mad.”
Yuri Tachibana: “But tell me, why does Godzilla keep attacking Japan? Why does it want to destroy us?”
Hirotoshi Isayama: “Because the Japanese people want to forget what happened... They have deemed it preferable to forget the pain and agony they inflicted on all those people!”
(Copied from Wikizilla)
To sum up, this version of Godzilla is explicitly said to be supernatural in origin. He's effectively the amalgamation of millions of souls that were killed in the Pacific and Chinese theaters that were unable to rest in death possessing the corpse of the original Godzilla that was killed in the first movie. And when you have that much undiluted hate and malice in one giant undead monster, you have a recipe for a particularly malevolent entity.
Interestingly enough, Japanese folklore does tell of a similar entity which might have inspired the creators.
Tumblr media
According to Yokai.com, the Gashadokuro is a particularly terrifying yokai. The amalgamation of the souls of fallen soldiers who were denied proper burials, the Gashadokuro is a gigantic skeletal monstrosity formed by the bones and skulls of the deceased and animated by an unearthly hatred for the living that denied them their rest. Nearly unstoppable due to its size and strength, the Gashadokuro was a nightmarish being who's whole existence was to wreck havoc and death upon the world.
Tumblr media
Given how spiritual beliefs and legends play in the narrative of GMK, Godzilla does have an uncanny resemblance to the Gashadokuro. Him going out of his way to kill civilians and innocents lines up perfectly with the Gashadokuro's hatred for mortals. Even his design looks less like a living animal and more like a corpse, with dead blank eyes, bony spines, and a bloated stomach full of decomposing gasses. And ultimately, he was almost unstoppable in the film, killing off three monsters awakened to defeat him and the majority of the JSDF. All of which lines up with the legend.
Which is what makes this version of Godzilla so destructive and malevolent. All that rage and hate of the restless dead created this monstrosity who's only purpose was to hurt and kill. Effectively, he's less a living being, and more an unrelenting engine of death and hate.

Godzilla Headcanon
Showa Godzilla
Tumblr media
Showa Godzilla is a snowflake in a blizzard because, omg, compared to other Godzillas, he might as well be a completely different kaiju. This godzilla is a complete goofball; he's pretty chill, friendly, and heroic. He also believes in second chances; I mean, he was given a second chance, as was Showa Rodan, and they became better, so he tries to give everyone one chance. Showa Godzilla doesn't get serious unless you either piss him off or if he wants to. When Showa Godzilla is serious, he acts like his old self or like the other godzilla's. He becomes completely stoical, serious, and vengeful. When he's vengeful, oh boy, you're in for a treat. Showa Godzilla will track you to the ends of the earth, and depending on what you did to encure his wrath, such as attacking cities or whatever, he'll just fight you and either kill you or let you live with a warning. But let's say you kill someone like Showa, Angurius, or Minilla. Yeah, he's going to kill you. He also likes dancing.
Heisei Godzilla
Tumblr media
Now Heisei Godzilla acts completely different from Showa Godzilla. This Godzilla is quiet, stoical, and aggressive. He's like young Kratos. The atomic dinosaur doesn’t exactly show any signs of emotions besides aggression. Heck, he doesn’t really show any emotion around his son, Godzilla Junior. Granted, he does care for the kiddo and without hesitation will sacrifice his life if he gets to live, but he would rather show his love or affection through actions rather than words. He can get angry very easily. Heisei Godzilla is also the kind of Godzilla to hold grudges, so you wrong him in any way, and I mean anyway. He’s going to track you down and kill you. The humans are a good example, granted, though unlike some other Godzilla's, he’s justified in doing this because of what they did to him. This kaiju will follow you into hell if it means he can kill you. Hesiei Godzilla only attacks other Kaiju’s when they either piss him off, they’re in the way, or they have something he wants. Take, for example, Hesiei Rodan. He had the Godzilla egg, and Hesiei Godzilla wanted that. Hesiei Mothra and Battra got in the way. Space Godzilla? Yeah, stealing his son is a great way to piss him off.
Tumblr media
GMK Godzilla
He’s also different, like Showa, but not in a good way. GMK Godzilla can best be described as a demon or beast. He is formed from suffering, so he enjoys watching others suffer, so he takes great joy in destroying cites and especially killing other kaiju. Like GMK Baragon, he’ll play with his food before killing it. GMK Godzilla is also immortal, or at least his heart; this Godzilla’s body, while durable, can be destroyed. He kills anyone, regardless of if they’re a guardian, kaiju, or human; he doesn’t care.
Tumblr media
Final Wars Godzilla
Final Wars Godzilla is like Heisei Godzilla but does have moments; think of him like Old Kratos. While stoical, he’s willing to show emotion and has had his soft moments here and there. Final Wars, Godzilla is quiet, chill, stoical, and secretly a softie. Even though he wouldn’t admit it openly. Now Final Wars obviously holds grudges; heck, after he was freed from the ice, the first thing he did was try to destroy the Gotengo, and when that didn’t work, he literally chased all around the world, fighting Kaijus just to destroy it, so don’t get on his bad side. Compared to Hesiei, Final Wars has a decent relationship with his fellow Kaijus and only attacked humanity because of the bomb they dropped. Despite that, he has a good relationship with Final Wars Anguruis, Rodan, King Ceaser, and maybe a soft spot for a certain Moth and his son, Minilla.
Tumblr media
Legendary/Monsterverse Godzilla
Legendary Godzilla is like Hesiei Godzilla, minus (one) the villiance and lack of emotions. He’s quiet, stoical, cocky, and neutral. This Godzilla has an ego, and kind of like GMK, he does play with his food. Kong would be a good example. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get serious; bruising his ego is a great way of making him mad. He’s mostly quiet and doesn’t really any friendships with any Titans besides 2, Mothra, and Angurius. Other than that, his fellow titans are considered acquaintances. Around Mothra and Angurius he does show something besides indifference or grumpiness. He does have a soft side, but he will only show it around Mothra. For the most part, he’s a chaotic neutral; everything he does has a reason, such as him attacking the humans for their creation of Mecha Godzilla or Ghidorah for killing Angurius and trying to steal his place as Alpha. He kind of holds grudges but is willing to let them go or postpone them, and he’s honorable; an example of this would be Kong with letting him go after they defeated Mecha Godzila.

Dark thought, but given GMK Godzilla extreme hostility I can see Orga spending a lot of nights at the Millenium household when GMK is having anger problems
Genuinely… I feel like you’re reading my mind because just right now I was like “Oh my gosh what if Destoroyah and Orga are GMK’s bastard kids that he doesn’t care about and due to that they are in different homes”.
Destoroyah was just given to Belial because GMK couldn’t be bothered to deal with it and Belial was just like “dude what the hell this is a whole ass baby”. Thankful Belial ended up being the perfect father for little Destoroyah.
Then with Orga, He actually had to take care of him for a bit but Shimo and Final wars were like “Absolutely not” and got custody of Orga.
I know this is all a little dark for this AU, if it’s too much tell me please
