"You ever just get the urge to pop a squat in the yard?"

My husband is laying in the sunshine, drinking a huge iced coffee with a crazy straw. His tone is extremely casual, the caffeine hasn't worked it's magic yet.

"Pop a squat like tinkle, or pop a squat like deuces?"

"Eh, either. Both?"

"I mean...not a poo. Couldn't do a poo outside unless it was really emergent."

He sits up, stretches, and then folds his impossibly long legs to sit criss cross. "What if you had a pooping buddy, like wolves and dogs do?"

"I think having a pooping buddy would close my asshole even more."

His tone goes from casual to pleasantly clinical. "Tell me, what part of the pooping buddy scenario are you having trouble with? Is it the intimacy? The trust?"

"It's the pooping."

"Hmm...I see. I just want you to know that if you ever need a pooping buddy, I'm here for you."

I'd been giggling a little from the jump but I'm well past that at this point. My stomach hurts from laughing, and I can't tell if he's being serious or not. This is well within his very dry, but very oblique sense of humor.

"Please stop saying pooping buddy, I'm begging you."

"Do you prefer the term defecation companion?"

this is a niche one but instead of "they would not fuckin say that" it's "they would not fucking use American sign language".

ASL is not the only sign language. two british characters in your fanfiction would not be using ASL. England in fact has its own kind of sign language, BSL, that forms a sign family with many other sign languages around the world.

ASL isn't even the original member of its sign family, it comes from french sign language. do you know sign languages aren't related to spoken languages? that's an important one! it's not a direct 1:1 with people speaking English around the world. people in other countries don't learn ASL just in case they run into an usamerican or Canadian (who do often use it)

i know the entire world is the USA or whatever and sign languages do sometimes borrow from ASL for signs they don't have, but please be aware that there are other sign languages and families in the world that are not in fact ASL.

It dawned on me after I posted yesterday that I got off track talking about my new job and I didn’t even mention my new(ish) morning routine. I have tried 75 hard a couple times. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a mental toughness challenge that requires you to do two 45 minute workouts per day. One has to be outside. You have to take a daily progress picture.
