The thing about Tech's fall is that I've seen about 3 dozen polls over the past year on if people think he's Alive or not and the absolute highest I have ever seen the "dead" option get was a straight 50/50 on a site where the majority of people actively wanted him to be dead for Stakes. Most of them though only range from 20-30% thinking he's gone.

So the elephant in the room is that if he is dead then it's bad writing. Not because you can't kill characters but because if you do kill one and cannot convince more than half your audience that he's actually dead then however sad and well executed the scene might be in isolation, you wrote a bad character death. Whether it didn't follow from the plot or it wasn't written in a believable way, or any other reason that people might not believe it, you cannot have a well written character death that can't convince a majority of the audience that it's real.

And I just don't think they're that bad at writing! I don't think they'd be so lazy with the first major character death that they fail to make it feel final and believable! Tech is as beloved by the writers as he is by us, that much is clear, and I think that if he was dead his death would get the attention it deserved rather than happening and then never getting properly addressed for the rest of the episode because too much is happening at once. And I think that if he was dead, they'd have made it completely clear from the jump that he was.

🥏 TXF Fic Rec #25: "Overnight Sensation" by Syntax6

Today’s fic is an “X Files meets police procedure” whodunit with some of the best Diana-induced angst ever written. Set after episodes 6x11-12, “Two Fathers/One Son,” Scully ditches Mulder to join the investigation of a high-profile serial killer case in Boston. Her partner and Diana Fowley soon follow suits, complicating things.

This is one of those holy grail fics that combine a top-notch casefile with great MSR, the type @syntax6 excels at. The fast-paced, action-packed casefile goes all out on elaborate plot puzzles and has a blockbuster scale to it. Syntax6 creates a cast of original characters for the local police force, and portrays Mulder as a brilliant, heroic, and ass-kicking investigator, bringing to life that “golden boy of VCU”, known mainly through hearsay not often seen in action. A must-read.

#I doubt Daniel would have gotten a point anyway #the m-m-s strategy looked good on paper and while it was kind of ruined by the timing of the safety car #I don’t think the RB would have the pace enough to make that final charge on softs really count #I know a lot has already been said about RB’s strategy making abilities #i love that Daniel seems to have a say on what strategies he wants #which after mclaren is so refreshing #and I have to admit despite his quali results; this year and last year he has been really good at making them work for him in the race #but I do feel Daniel’s sometimes a bit too ambitious with his choice of strategy?? #by his own admission he chose to start on the mediums in Japan and we all know this sorta played into the crash with Alex #on one hand I would rather him go for a more conservative strategy that mirrors what the cars in the midfield are on #on the other hand. now that he seems to be getting his pace back. maybe those ambitious strategies would pay off??? #daniel ricciardo #China24
