We all know the NK and Dany were paralleled as the two threats in the show but I also really LOVE this parallel:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both of them died in front of the thing they desired most, that they had finally caught up to/reached. For the NK: Bran (and eradicating him to end the world of man like Sam said in 8x02). For Dany: the IT.
And considering Bran was not only the 3ER and ended up on the IT in the end?
Great parallel.

they are swapping stories one night, the topic approaching their personal records, the most rounds of sex in one night kind. (because that's totally what platonic bros talk about alright? it's not weird, nope, no siree.)
steve's number is outrageously high and danny refuses to believe it, which gets steve fired up because 'i totally can go that many times how dare you doubt me?' of course danny says 'prove it or are you too chickenshit?' and how can steve back down from a challenge like that. so before they know it they've made a bet that steve can match his number with danny.
they agree on a day because at this point not backing out is a matter of personal pride. steve shows up at danny's place.
'didn't think you'd show.'
'i'm no chicken, are you?'
''m not.'
'so we are really doing this?''
'you betcha.'
'okay.'
except when danny closes his eyes and leans in, steve just looks at him for a moment, his face dead serious, and goes 'nope, I can't, I'm sorry' as he turns to flee.
'what about our bet?' yells confused danny after him.
'i forfeit' steve strangles out without turning his back and he's out the door, leaving danny wondering how his foolproof plan had gone awry.
danny's patience has run thin so instead of letting steve off the hook he has to investigate. when he tracks steve down and demands to know what the hell happened 'how dare you leave me hanging like that instead of just talking like adults, if you don't want me i understand, it's the mixed messages i won't take.'
steve realizes he made danny feel rejected and has to fess up about the real reason he left. because when it came down to it, he didn't want to be with danny just because of some stupid bet 'i didn't care about shallow victory if it meant losing the chance to have something real with you'. steve hangs his head.
danny chuckles 'you noble idiot, i was tired of waiting for you to make a move so i decided to speed the process along'.
that makes steve look up 'what?'
'get with the program, babe, our goals align. it was a good plan, too, i didn't account for one thing?'
'what's that?'
danny tenderly cups steve's cheek 'that you really do love me more than winning. for the record, it's mutual.'
he's rewarded with the biggest smile he's ever seen blossom on steve's face 'i'd say making you my partner was the biggest victory of my life, although tonight might just top that.'
'we shall see' danny winks, and open his arms 'now come here and collect your bounty.'
steve doesn't have to be told twice.
they break no records that night. neither of them minds. they both got what they wanted and more.

Were I not on a self-imposed deadline (my writing)
To complete a certain fan fiction of mine on...well, the Ides of March, I was, no bullshit, hand-to-heart, actually just about to include the scene with the smoldering ruins of Garreg Mach with:
- Ferdinand, Bernadetta, Petra, Dorothea, and Caspar all exchanging nervous, guilty glances with each other pretty early on in (”You kept all your promises to me. You killed my enemies...”) in the speech
- Hubert seething at Jeritza being “the bravest of men and loyalest of soldiers,” but he is kinda Grey Worm anyway
- Byleth looking like...well, Byleth, maybe a little concerned
- Her hand, Linhardt, sulking in the shadows behind her, especially sour (”but the war is not over!”) at certain points of the speech
- The (adopted) northerner, Mercedes, somewhere in the crowd, giving her the Arya-style death glare

Are there any Upstead moments/scenes that you can think of that are underrated or not spoken about much by the fandom?
I love these kind of questions!! I’ve got two for you:
1. Chair touch | 6x05: It’s such a subtle thing. I honestly think it’s more of a trasse moment than an upstead moment but it reminds me of the shoulder touch from 5x05 which is probably why I like it so much.
Tumblr media
2. Worried gf | 8x06: We didn’t get nearly enough worried upstead moments after they became canon. But what I love about this one is that it was probably one of the first moments that it clicked for Hailey how different it was to worry about him now that he actually was more than just her partner. Also, beyond the 9x03 opener we never really got the team interacting with the idea of upstead as a couple, so this moment of Kevin recognizing how nervous Hailey was feels special to me.

Look, look, all I'm saying is, in The Office 8x06, there is this moment right, where there's the Doomsday device and they've already got 4 strikes, and Angela says something about some numbers to Oscar, and he does this quick mental counting and realizes he made a mistake, THE mistake they were supposed to ABSOLUTELY NOT DO, and panic strikes HARD, and first he breathes out the cutest oh no ever, and THEN, JUST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT, he calls out, in the tiniest most terrified voice
"Andy-"
'nthin much really, just something that will play non-stop in my head while I lay awake in my bed tonight.

No other whump blogs will answer me sadge. Do you have any good whump shows where the healing process takes a long time? I feel like everything I read it’s fixed by magic or time jumps.
Hmmmm that is a tricky one. Most of the time your gonna get some kind of time skip whether its a skip to the hospital or the hospital scene is skipped over or the whole recovery process is skipped over. Super annoying but inevitable. Let me see what I can find. We're lucky if we get the whump continued into one other episode. There's gonna be time skips in all of these though. I don't think there's anything out there (that I know of) that doesn't have a time skip at all. Episodes can only be so long ya know?
In 9-1-1 Buck gets crushed by a ladder truck in 2x18 and you see some of his recovery in the same episode. Then in 3x01 he has a pulmonary embolism because of his injury and then he's on blood thinners for several episodes and it's a whole thing for like 4 episodes.
Outlander season 4 (4x10-4x13) has Roger in long term captivity where he's beaten several times.
Kaz in season 2 of Shadow and Bone has the bruises from being beaten up over the course of several episodes.
Tony Dinozzo gets the plague in NCIS 2x22 and in the next episode he's still recovering from it.
Lassiter in Psych has an arm in a sling for several episodes because Timothy Omundson actually did hurt himself. Starts in 2x06 and goes for the next few episodes.
In that same vein Scott Caan got hurt twice while filming Hawaii Five-0 that was written into the show. At the start of the show he uses a cane for a knee injury and then episodes he's got his arm in a sling. You can see it in 8x05, 8x06, 8x08.
Jamie Lannister in Game of Thrones season 2 is held captive for quite a long time and in season 3 he gets his hand chopped off and that whump lasts several episodes
Mike Warren in Graceland has two moments. He's stabbed in season 2 and that lasts for a bit and then shot at the end of season 2 which then lasts well into season 3 and becomes a big problem for him.
Damn that's all I got for right now.

Jonsa Parallel: Stirring Jon Into Action - one that reiterates who Jon was protecting in 8x06
In 6x04, we get a scene where Jon is about to embark on a journey to head South after what happened in 6x03 (and his murder):
Tumblr media
(sorry I couldn't find the scene on YouTube to link; HBO is coming hard for GoT clips all of a sudden, so far purely Targaryen/Dany/Jon-centric)
He's done. "My watch has ended." He tells Edd he'll go South and get warm. Despite Edd mentioning the NK (which we know that Jon has been laser-focused on since HardHome, why he let the Wildlings past the Wall, and then got murdered for it), Jon has made up his mind. He's leaving and that's that.
But then we hear the horn and the call to open the gate. Sure enough, we see this in the next shot (after Jon with Edd behind him):
Tumblr media
Sansa is shown first as the doors slowly open, then Brienne and then Podrick. We see Jon's reaction to her arrival and the interaction between them after that. Even though Jon has no interest in fighting Ramsay or anyone really, he is sure of one thing: he's not letting Sansa (the only family left to him that he knows of at this point) out of his sight. He makes that clear with the dialogue from the fireplace scene.
Then they get Ramsay's letter. Even then, as horrified as he is by what Ramsay has told them about Rickon and sees Sansa's own horror, he still seems hesitant to do what needs to be done. Especially when hearing outnumbered they're most likely going to be. It's only when Sansa grabs his hand and tells him they need to save Rickon and Winterfell, that she gets him to listen, that he finally agrees. Which leads to him (and Sansa) amassing an army to fight the NK.
Make no mistake, it's Sansa who stirs him into action. Not Edd, not Davos, not Tormund, and certainly not Melisandre. Even after hearing the threat Ramsay posed to Rickon, to Winterfell (and the North by extension), to the Wildlings, etc.
He is given a new purpose so naturally this scene:
Tumblr media
Is soon replaced by this scene:
Tumblr media
And Edd is there to see Jon switch to his new role/purpose:
Tumblr media
This is Jon going into his new arc. And what propelled him into it? Sansa.
Then we have 8x06:
youtube
No matter what Tyrion mentions (including being the shield that guards the realms of men), the people, Tyrion himself, Jon himself, even Arya (in conjunction with Sansa), Jon is not prepared to take action. Even after the KL massacre where a million innocent people were burned alive for no reason. Even after Arya warned him about himself (and Sansa). It's only when Tyrion says that Sansa won't have a choice, that Jon is then gotten through to. It's when Dany confirms that those who oppose her won't have a choice, that he then knows what it means "for those he loves most". It's Sansa again that stirs him into action. And we get:
Tumblr media
It's Sansa who gets him to act, that has him taking on the two threats to her (and Westeros), and Ramsay who was an immediate threat to her. And it was even Sansa who got Ned to act (choosing to confess his treason & dishonor himself), to make the same choice in 1x09 that Jon did in 8x06.
And bonus:
youtube
Does Jon's reaction to first seeing it was Sansa look familiar?
Not to mention they have the obvious callback to "forgive me" which Jon doesn't answer here explicitly (because 1) it's unfinished/open-ended between them & 2) he needed to get Bran's confirmation here that he did the right thing). And of course the hug:
Tumblr media
(notice how Brienne and Tormund are in the 6x04 hug shot btw - love that it's just more proof in the pudding for this whole post)
Tumblr media
It was always about Sansa.

I feel like Dean has tried to kill sam quite a bit throughout the 15 seasons of supernatural
Like I know they've both tried to kill each other because of various supernatural beings cursing or possessing them, but it kind of feels like dean holds it against sam more than sam holds it against dean. Sam almost always immediately offers forgiveness and says he knows it wasn't dean, but dean doesn't really say the same in return. It's like he holds on to so much against sam and he can never let it go, not the same way he can for literally anybody else. But it's just wild to me that with all that he holds against sam, sam never does the same back, he doesnt bring up all the times dean has harmed/tried to kill him (or if he does I just haven't made it to that episode yet)
Anyway there's no real question here I just kind of wanted to rant about sam
Funny you should bring that up, I have a fic for that:
Your feelings about Dean holding things against Sam are absolutely valid and fully supported by canon, and I've got concrete examples below. Warning, there are spoilers through s10 if you haven't gotten that far.
1x10 Asylum
While under the influence of Ellicott, Sam tries to shoot Dean. Afterwards, Sam apologizes, but Dean doesn’t accept it. Dean relents only after Sam asks if they need to talk about it.
2x14 Born Under a Bad Sign
Meg shoots Dean while possessing Sam. After Meg is exorcised, while Sam is in pain from a severe burn with a hot poker, Dean punches him.
4x14 Sex and Violence
Dean tries to kill Sam with an axe and is stopped at the last second by Bobby. The next day (4x15), after Sam has already apologized multiple times for what was said under the siren’s influence, we get Dean’s passive-aggressive, downright whiney “I don't want to be holding you back or nothin’.” There is no apology from Dean for the things he said or, more importantly, for trying to kill Sam.
8x06 Southern Comfort
Dean tries to shoot Sam while under the influence of the Confederate soldier’s ghost. Afterwards, Sam is justifiably angry about the things Dean said, but the very next episode, it’s like nothing ever happened and the first thing Sam does is try to ease Dean’s guilt about leaving Cas in Purgatory.
Now here’s the kicker: the things that Dean said while possessed were things that he never stopped holding against Sam even after Sam spent 180 years being tortured in the cage. Some of which Dean even admitted weren’t Sam’s fault back in 5x05. But wait, there’s more: he also held Sam coming back without a soul against him, something that was obviously out of his control. “But,” you may say, “he just said those things because he was possessed.” To which I respond by pointing out that the laundry list of Sam’s failures that Dean called out in 10x23 were the same things he called Sam out for while possessed: "All right. Well, I'm just spit-balling here, but if I were you, uh… Ruby, killing Lilith, letting Lucifer out, losing your soul, not looking for me when I went to Purgatory"
(And BTW, I have a fic for that too. A few, actually.)
10x03 Soul Survivor
Dean psychologically assaults Sam with the most emotionally damaging things he can think of to say, then hunts him down and tries to brain him with a hammer. Sam responds by running out to “pick him up a big ol’ bag of crap food and stuff it in his face” himself.
10x23 Brother’s Keeper
Dean lures Sam to the restaurant to kill him, calls him evil, tells him he deserves to die, tells him it was a mistake to stop Sam from sacrificing himself in 8x23. Sam responds by telling him, “You will never, ever hear me say that you -- the real you -- is anything but good.”

FTWD 8x06 Mysterious Coda Discussion Continued
@galadrieljones
I just watched the episode!! AH. There’s some stuff I wanna look up. I am extremely intrigued by the “coda” and idk how clear it is to you all what we’re seeing but it’s pretty clear to me. Also for now, I’ll just leave you with my most salient take-away, which is the music at the end of the episode, in the scene with Morgan and Mo. Listen to it, then go back to the Coda coda. It’s the same exact music!
Tumblr media
@wdway
Yeah, I noticed the music too. I can't wait for lethal to watch so we can really dive into the whole episode but especially the "tease." Did you have the same impression that it was a tease for TD?
@galadrieljones
I think it has implications for TD. Like I said I need to look some stuff up to be certain of my prediction!!
@wdway
It definitely gave me similar feelings as I had with the red machete. I'm not saying that this will be what we might hope it is, but I think it is a taste definitely.
@twdmusicboxmystery:
Morning, Gals! I finally watched both episodes.
I think it's super cool that Morgan is now looking for Rick. Clearly, he'll be part of the CRM storyline. Though, based on his role in S8, I could have told you that. Anyway, I guess I didn't realize he would leave half way through the season and not be in the rest of it.
Tumblr media
I'm honestly not as excited about the rest of the season if he's not in it. I mean, I guess what it really is is that I'm more interested in Morgan's return to Alexandria and search for Rick. The last time Morgan saw Judith, she was a baby, so a reunion between them would be fun. I can see Judith and Mo becoming pals.
I assumed the tease at the end was about Alicia. We saw her put her severed, desiccated arm into the bag. But it definitely would be cool, given all the Alicia/Beth and Alicia/Madison stuff, if the two of them reunited, and we got more concrete information about Alicia's state of health.
Tumblr media
I mean, I was surprised they killed off Finch. As I said at the beginning, I really thought they would find some way to cure him. But they also definitely planted the seed that if they could find the right ratio of radiation--enough to kill the walker virus but not him--they might have saved him. And of course Alicia's--and even Charlie's--exposure was much different than Finch's. So maybe we aren't done with that storyline yet.
Tumblr media
I didn't like the Dwight/Sherry thing. I thought it was kind of dumb. I get that he's clearly going to be part of the CRM storyline, heading back to Georgia and everything, and either they just don't have a role for Sherry or the actress has opted to leave the show in lieu of other projects. But still. After he travelled cross country to find her, it's Dwight that says they should call it quits? I kinda had to roll my eyes at that. Anyway, I do have some errands and such to run today, but I'm all for it. Let's discuss! ;D
@wdway
I'm so happy for us to talk about the scene. @twdmusicboxmystery, unless Alicia had a arm transplant than this is not her. Her arm was cut off from the elbow, it can't be Alicia. Supposedly the voice on the radio is Madison, so not Madison. We see all the fingers on both hands so it can't be June. This person is blonde. Yes, BLONDE!!!
Tumblr media
Look at her hands and up to the very top they have a little bit of blonde hair showing. Did I hear gasp! I did not immediately see the hair but once I did oh my gosh. This is what I meant by the tease. They're making they're making sure we can see both hands both all fingers there is a water bottle right next to her and of course the radio I'm going to call that flashlight color (blonde) the map, the bag and of course Alicia's replacement arm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second one was the original shot and I enlarged it so we can see that this person is caring a large knife (?).
I'm not sure what that object is in the center could that be a compass?
I am not saying that this is Beth. I'm just saying that this is a tease. It is placed after Morgan's final scene in Fear which has the music that we heard from his coda in Coda. You guys know how I believe that in his first episode in Fear they teased him coming upon a car with an injured person laying on a pink blanket, I've always thought that was a hint towards Beth and so now we get a scene in his last episode of Fear where we immediately see a blonde, I'm assuming this is a woman, I just think that this was meant for TD.
I've been trying to rack my brain as to who this could be. I mentioned the other day that it reminded me of the Red Machete, because we never was able to see who took the Red Machete, they did not show the face. Here again we're seeing this person and yet not the face.
Tumblr media
I was trying to mark off all of the blonde actresses that we have seen in Fear and I am so open to any that you guys can think of that I'm missing.
How did this person get Alicia's (I'm going to call it) mechanical arm? And here's the other thing, Alicia we know the last time we saw her, she had gone through the fever and she was okay, really more than okay. We believe that Beth survived a bite and was given treatment so these are the only two people that we know of that survived a bite. And here we have a blonde female who is holding Alicia's mechanical arm. ????
@galadrieljones:
I love your observations. There are parts of this coda that really bug me. Not in a bad way, but in a “wtf” sort of way. I will explain. I think that, regardless of whether it’s Beth, they are being sneaky. They want us to think it could be. The lock of blond hair throws me off.
Also, I am struggling with whether these are female hands. In the beginning, they look mostly female, as the bones are fine. But then as the scene progresses, I’m not sure. They look borderline masculine to me, when they pick up the map, the sunglasses, and the arm. There is an androgenous effect here, as far as I’m concerned. The blond lock of hair looks not super long, but it’s really apparent. That throws me off the most.
Tumblr media
The actor is moving their hands so deliberately, almost lizard-like. I think they’re trying to achieve an effect of “this could be a man or woman."
@wdway
I understand you're back and forth about the hands. I've had the same thoughts but in the end I think they look more feminine than male hands. Even if this is supposedly Beth it's not necessarily Emily. I also think that the reason they are being very artsy with the hand movement is that people will go back and just as I did start looking at the hands in terms of all the fingers are there so that eliminates June there's two hands, arms, that eliminates it being Alicia. Madison is supposedly on the radio broadcasting, it's not Madison. I think they are feminine hands. These look like a younger woman's hands, not someone Carol or Madison's age because your hands age quite differently as a woman gets older.
@wdway
If the tease is about Beth than I just want to think about that for a moment. One of the other reasons they would be showing the hands like they are with this person writing would be that in s4e1, Daryl comes upon Beth in her cell and she's writing in her journal, the last time we see Beth with Daryl she is also writing a thank you note, there is a definite connection they want us to make with Beth and writing, imo.
To Be Continued...
