Friday I took a road trip out to the Berkshires of Massachusetts. On this very bleak and rainy day I visited two beautiful 19th century cemeteries, the Fairmount in Lee and the Pittsfield in Pittsfield. Although the rain and dropping temperatures in the afternoon made for very difficult conditions, the dark beauty of the day more than made up for it. When I finally got back to my car after walking through the 2nd cemetery I visited, Pittsfield, I had to crank up the heat because my hands were freezing!

Another old church. This one is in West Granville MA and I’ve photographed it a number of times over the years. This is an early pic.
