The sleep came easily enough, even easier considering that you had gone all day with no rest and unbeknownst to you it was the most rest you would receive in months.
In the land of the living it had been three days and you hadn’t had a clue, for you it was just like any other dream. Time was irrelevant and nothing important to worry about as you walked around the abandoned market. With the information you now had you came to the conclusion that this was a Viking age settlement.
And just knowing that much made you eager to look around and see everything. How many people could say they had seen something like this? It would be an opportunity lost if she didn’t explore.
You were still in your hospital gown and had been barefoot before you found some shoes that were too big but they stayed on.
Viking mud is still mud after all.
There was so much to see, there were stands that had vegetables and fruits and less attractive ones that had dead animals hug up on display. Further into the market area you found jewelry and long stretches of fabric. Most were brown or white but others were absolutely gorgeous colors like red, blue and gold.
It was while you were touching a blue silk fabric that you heard something behind you.
Muddy footsteps.
It made a wet squishing noise; squish squish squish, getting closer but not at a rushed speed.
Whoever was behind you felt no need to rush.
You turned around; fully expecting to see the man with no eyes to be standing there with a new riddle for you to solve, but that wasn’t who it was.
It was you.
The woman standing before you had your face, she was older maybe in her twenties or early thirties, her hair was longer than you could imagine growing yours and it was in a braid that rested plainly over her shoulder. She was wearing a brown dress and leather shoes.
Despite how much you had looked into mirrors you had never seen yourself like this.
‘Y-you.’ you managed to say when you found the will to speak.
‘You.’ the woman smiled.
‘Do you know who I am?’ she asked as she stepped closer to you.
Instinctively you stepped back.
‘Your name is Wilda, you are a Saxxon woman.’ you replied.
‘I am, or maybe I was. It is hard to understand even for me, I have been dead for so long and yet here I stand speaking with you.’ she mused.
She walked over to the fabric you were just holding and rubbed it curiously.
‘I had been wanting this fabric when I died, the woman who made this was the best seamstress in all of Kattegat.’
‘Kattegat? Is that the name of this place?’
‘Yes, this is where it all began. This is where it all happened, where your fate was sealed with the Boneless One. I must apologize, for I am also responsible for involving you in all this, but please know I didn’t wish for any of it.’ she said sadly.
It was weird seeing yourself like this, it was like watching yourself in a movie but you had no memory of acting in it. Either way this woman...this you, was talking and it was understandable.
‘Can you tell me what happened, why am I involved and what will happen after Ivar accepts his past life?’ you asked.
‘I do not know it all, but I will tell you what I know, come walk with me, I want you to see something.’ she said as she began to walk away from the fabric stand.
You walked beside her, still keeping a bit of distance.
‘I was a child of the church, in York. When I was a small child the city was raided by the Sons of Ragnar and their Heathen Army. I barely survived but after they took over Ivar took me in as a slave.’
‘Why?’
‘I was often the apprentice to the healers after men would come from battle. I would take care of his legs with salves and oils. He hated me, it was simply a fact but he valued my care through the years.’
‘Why did you marry him?’
‘Years had passed and I’d seen him do...horrific things, he’d won great victories and suffered massive losses then all at once he was just losing. Battle after battle his plans failed him, he was losing his fame, becoming a joke among warlords.’
As the two of you walked past the last stand of the market she led you through a trail in the woods.
‘At his wits end he called on the seer.’
‘Seer? The man with no eyes?’ you asked.
She nodded.
‘He sees peoples’ fates and speaks with the Pagan Gods. He told Ivar that the Gods had abandoned him; that they had favored his father Ragnar despite the disrespectful way he viewed them, and they would not show Ivar the same mercy if he followed his father’s footsteps.’
‘Ragnar? I thought he was a myth.’
‘People spoke of him as if he were, but he was a real man with real feelings. Ivar loved him despite the strain his broken legs put on their relationship, and like his father he began to place too much pride in his own importance.’
‘Broken legs...he really couldn’t walk could he.’ you said in amazement.
‘Not on his own he made braces to keep himself upright, really they were amazing to see. Even I, who despised him, felt a small amount of admiration for his resilience.’
‘I grew up in his care, he never hurt me but he was cruel. When he came to me demanding my hand in marriage I didn’t understand. He told me it was life or death, he said he would have the church in York reduced to ashes if I refused.’
‘How romantic.’ you said sarcastically.
‘I thought so as well. From what was told to me Ivar had gotten everyone close to him cursed, exiled from all their nine worlds, left to wait for the reincarnations of both Ivar the Boneless and a Christian Girl to to reunite and his guilt alongside her love and forgiveness would be the light that lead them to Valhalla.’
‘My love?’ you asked in embarrassed shock.
‘Yes, you love him and I know it.’
‘How can you know something like that? Do you feel my emotions or something, because I’m not sure if it is more than a crush.’ you said in your defense.
Wilda laughed and was odd to hear it, you recognized it as your own laughter but you never heard from someone else.
‘My sweet girl, you are not the first reincarnation, and your Ivar isn’t the first either, if God wills it you will be the last.’
‘I’m not the first? How many have there been and what happened to them?’
‘They all end up here eventually.’ Wilda answered as at last the two of you had arrived at your destination.
You were in a large clearing. There was nothing else there to take your eyes away from what was in the center.
Two graves, both empty and two piles of dirt waiting to fill them in once there was a body inside.
Your heart was lead.
‘It is never painful, for any of them, you’ll just go to sleep.’
‘But I- I’m sleeping now...am I am I d-‘
‘No, you are alive outside I promise. All you have to do is wait, wait for Ivar to accept his faults and remorse.’
‘And if he doesn’t then what? You’re saying I can’t do anything for myself? What kind of misogynistic bullshit is this? I thought Viking women had rights of their own.’ you ranted angrily as you paced, looking away from the graves.
‘Unfortunately, I wasn’t Viking, even if I did follow their beliefs I was a thrall. I had no rights before my marriage and even with that title I was still Christian.’
‘So what? Just sit here with you and wait?’
‘Yes, do you have faith that your Ivar will save you?’
‘Of course!’ you shouted so suddenly that it surprised you.
All at once it hit you how much faith you had in Ivar, the one thing you had no doubt about was that he would do anything for you.
He cared for you, even if not romantically, he cared about you; and no matter what he had to do he would save you.
Or he would die trying.
‘Then wait.’ Wilda said sweetly.
Ivar’s POV
The last three days had brought about a lot of chaos.
(Y/N)’s family was devastated by the news, her siblings were scared and her mother was in complete shambles. Miss (Y/L/N) had called your father who flew out with his wife and other kids and had arrived on the second night.
His own family had been affected as well, he had been too shaken up and crushed by guilt that he couldn’t drive so he just sat in his car feeling sorry for himself and crying harder than he had since he was a child. His brothers ended up tracking his phone and once he had calmed down he explained what had happened.
No one in the Ragnarson family could ever remember seeing Ivar this distraught before, even his parents sat aside their marital issues enough to sit in the waiting room with Ivar and (Y/N)’s family.
It was strange to see for Ivar.
His family loved each other in their own odd constipated way, but they rarely got together like this. Even Bjorn and Lagertha showed up once, apparently they all wanted to be there for him but he suspected they just couldn't get over the fact that he had a friend.
Every day there were at least four people in the waiting room for (Y/N) and one of the most constant residents was Ivar.
He hadn’t even gone to school, all he could do was sit and watch...and think about things. Think about what he had to do, because no matter what logic told him he just knew this was his fault. She was a human vegetable and was because of him.
That thought alone made his head hurt, he was constantly taking pain killers that did little to ease his headaches.
He was on his phone watching the same video he had seen a thousand times it felt like.
The footage from (Y/N)’s sleep study.
Her mother had demanded the footage, in hopes to find some kind of clue about what led to (Y/N)’s sudden seizure. She expected to see an administration of medicine or maybe even a nurse sneaking in, anything to explain it.
Unfortunately there was nothing on the film that the doctors hadn’t already explained. For about an hour she was sleeping peacefully, a bit of uncomfortable tossing and then, like a firecracker had startled her, she shot up.
Her body convulsing as she thrashed around so violently that she fell out of the bed and if the visual wasn’t upsetting enough the scream she let out after she landed on the floor was absolutely blood churning.
She was screaming loud and shrill at the top of her lungs, all the while her body never stopped shaking, her limbs were endlessly flailing. The nurses and doctors had rushed in to restrain after only forty seconds or so but it felt so much longer to Ivar.
He watched how carefully Herald administered the sedative and the way (Y/N)’s body went immediately limp. Ivar closed the video once the doctors started hurriedly checking her vitals.
Ivar sighed and stood up to stretch, the joints of his shoulder blades cracking in protest as he did so.
‘Going home for the night Ivar?’ Miss (Y/L/N) asked as she yawned in her own chair.
‘No, just going to the restroom, might get a coffee.’ he assured.
‘Grab me one please.’
‘Of course.’ Ivar said happily.
He didn’t really need to use the toilet, just needed to move around. His legs were getting sore and he needed to take his pills and he preferred to do that in private.
‘I would have killed for a treatment like that in my life.’
The color drained from his face as he looked in the mirror and saw a most unwelcomed sight.
‘I get the feeling you don’t like me much...understandable I suppose.’ the old man said from behind him.
His heart suddenly swelled with anger as he turned and swung, ready to feel his fist connect with the bearded face of this bastard, but it didn’t.
All that happened was his fist went right through him, as if he were air, with nothing solid to connect to he stumbled to regain balance.
‘I’m sure had I been alive that would have been a solid attack, were you done or do you want to waste more time? Because your Christian doesn’t have much to waste.’ the old man said tiredly.
Ivar turned around and glared, but it softened a bit when he saw something he hadn’t noticed before in his anger.
The old man was standing.
There were unpainted metal braces on the viking’s legs that seemed to be the only thing keeping him up, along with the cane he was using.
‘Why are you here?  Are you going to kill her now, brain dead not enough for you? She has nothing to do with this, whatever bullshit this all is, leave her out of it!’ Ivar shouted, not caring if someone heard him yelling to himself.
‘My Christian had nothing to do with my problems either, and had she been as selfish as I was she would have refused to take part. Then I would be cursed with no hope of redemption, and both of our Christians would have had longer and probably happier lives without us.’ he said tiredly.
‘But she was soft, she felt it was her stupid Christian duty to help others over herself. Despite her resentment for me, and mine of her, she agreed to help my family and for that I want to repay my debt to her. In order to do that I need you to see me.’
‘I do see you.’ Ivar argued.
‘No. You see an old man in strange clothes but you don’t see yourself in me at all do you? It's frustrating because you are the last and most important piece to this complicated puzzle. The Christian, her job was to find us, you and me, now you have to see us. Really look at me and see yourself...she will die if you don’t and the loss of her will drive you mad.’
He felt like ripping out his hair in frustration, Ivar had never been this angry. In his youth anger was the backbone of his personality, he was angry because his legs hurt, he was angry he couldn’t talk to anyone other than his brother because he didn’t have any friends, he was always angry. But this was pure rage; red hot and scalding, he was angry because he was terrified.
‘What do you mean she will die?’
‘Her body is here where you can see it, but her essence is in the void between the nine worlds and a living person can only stay there a short while before their body lets them go completely. Please if not for me and my family or yourself do it for her.’
For her, all at once his anger left him.
‘J-just look at you?’ he repeated.
‘See me...and look into you.’
Ivar felt like fire ants were covering his entire body, his stomach felt ready to rid itself of the crappy hospital lunch he’d had earlier, his heart felt like it was frozen in ice; and all that paled in comparison to his headache.
He had only met the eyes of the old man for a few seconds and already he wanted nothing more than to look away.
For her.
Ivar dug his nails deeply into the palms of his hand as he held the man’s gaze.
‘There you go, see me...see all we have done.’
Then as if zoomed in like a scene from a movie he could see images in the blue pupils, and what he saw made him want to look away even more.
He saw...a boy with a dirty face it looked like he was trying to pull something, suddenly he felt like there was something leather in his hand and he pulled it back he felt the boy in the eye pull it back and suddenly he struck his hand out with all his might and watched as the boy in the eye was hit in the head by the blade of an axe.
‘No!’ he gasped in horror.
‘Don’t look away, no matter how terrible or how ashamed. Do not look away.’ the viking said, but his voice was different now. It wasn’t as hoarse as before it appeared to be...younger in a way.
The boy faded away and he saw something worse than the boy.
‘Sigurd?’
In the eye there was his brother, his hair long, his clothes strange and he was talking and Ivar wished more than anything that he couldn’t hear what his own brother was saying, but he did, clear as a bell in his mind was his older brother’s voice.
‘It must be hard for you now that your mummy’s dead. Knowing she was the only one who ever really loved you.’ Sigurd said in a strange dialect as he sipped something from a chalice.
Hurt and anger swelled and he felt something wet and thick touch his lip and distantly his mind realized his nose was bleeding heavily, again his arm jerked forward and watched an axe fly and plant itself in his brother's ribs.
‘Sigurd…’ he whimpered as his eyes began to overflow with tears.
If anyone came into this restroom they would see him standing still as a statue, staring into space as his nose bled like a red river and his eyes leaked like faucets.
‘Don’t look away, don’t run from what you have already done.’
‘Sigurd...Siggy I’m sorry. I didn’t mean-’ he choked on the lump in his throat, the blood from his nose leaked into his mouth as he spoke and the taste was horrid but it felt nostalgic in a horribly gruesome way.
Again the image in the eyes changed and this one was more than the image it practically sucked him in like a portal.
No longer was he in a hospital restroom; he was in a stone building and there was so much noise, loudest of all was a baby crying. He could recall this, the dream, the one he remembered in the truck that night with (Y/N) the one that made his nose bleed.
This time it was so much more, it felt like his brain was exploding in his skull, he felt an aching throb in his ears but it didn’t compare to the horror he was seeing and hearing.
He could smell burning flesh, feel the heat and as the melted gold poured into the crying man’s mouth; the screams would haunt him until his last breath.
In horror he felt his chest shake in laughter.
Just when Ivar thought he would pass out from the pain in his head he felt something he hadn’t felt in years. His legs were breaking under his weight, but that wasn’t possible, he had titanium bones, they could never break but still he felt it. Even worse so he heard that familiar cracking noise as he fell to the floor.
‘Hold strong, we both know you can take more than this, and there is so much more to see.’ now Ivar was certain the voice he heard wasn’t the voice of an old man.
That was his own voice, and he suddenly processed that he wasn’t being sucked into the eye, but the eye was moving closer to him.
No longer was the phantom standing on crude braces as an old and ragged man. Now he was crawling, using his strong arms to pull himself along, his legs dragging behind him like a useless tail.
More than anything Ivar wanted to look away and see what the face of this man looked like now but he couldn’t.
For her… for (Y/N).
He stilled himself and tried to brace himself for more pain he was sure would come.
He had been right, more pain came and no amount of preparation would have made him ready for it.
A thousand or a million images flashed in the eye going so fast it shouldn’t have been possible to follow each one, but he could. Not only did he see and comprehend each image he felt them.
He saw the light go out in a fat man’s eyes as someone was chopping into his back with an ax, he felt the muscles in his arms ache with the effort it took to stab through the muscle and bones of a man in the heat of battle.
That was when he realized that these images, these senses were all things he’d seen and experienced before.
These were his dreams.
‘Yes, you are remembering. That is good, almost done now; look at me.’
At last that horrible eye closed, and Ivar nearly collapsed in relief, but he kept just enough energy to look up at the face that carried the eye.
There was no longer a beard to hide anything from view he could see the face in front of him with complete clarity.
This truly was his face, it was like looking into a mirror but this mirror showed what he looked like before.
‘Finally...you see me.’ He smiled.

Character List
M’Baku X Akari (OC)
“M’Baku you promised.”
Akari held M’Baku’s face in her hands. Even after he had sated his desire (after almost throwing Akari over his shoulder and somehow making it to his bedroom still clothed), it failed to put even a dent in the rage he felt when Akari told him her news in the aftermath. He threw the blankets off in a fit of rage, and Akari knew M’Baku would waste no time announcing this new knowledge to his family. Even if he was only clad in a tight pair of boxers.
But Akari was no pushover. She grabbed his shoulder and dragged M’Baku back down onto the bed, straddling his waist while both hands cupped the strong jawline that remained locked in frustration. His nostrils flared. “I should be telling father, he will make this right.”
Akari’s fingers tightened. “We have no proof M’Baku, not yet. One of the only things any of us have on our side is ignorance.” Akari then quickly locked her legs around M’Baku’s hips. “We don’t know how big this, who is involved, and who knows the truth of what is happening.”
Akari loosened her grip when she saw the defeat creeping into his eyes, settling for gently cupping his check while rubbing his temple. “Accusing a noble is no small feat. And what do you think would happen to N’Ceba, hmmm? What do you think would happen to her at home during the trial? Who do you think he might take his anger out on?”
Though even still Akari didn’t trust N’Ceba fully, the surprisingly nervous girl she had grown to know, who loved to laugh and smile, was someone Akari had grown to care for. And it hurt Akari when she would see little flashes of fear and pain in N’Ceba’s eyes whenever she talked about her father. Her own flesh and blood. And if even half of what she said was true, then they needed to make sure N’Ceba was protected in the aftermath.
And Akari knew knew M’Baku would feel the same.
The future chieftain halted at Akari’s words. M’Baku bit his lip, his short-temper finally subsiding at the soothing voice and the calming hands of the beauty straddled around his waist. “I know you are right, my love.” Akari held his head close to her chest. “But I cannot sit back and do nothing.”
“I know. I know.” Akari kissed his forehead. “But we need to wait for the right time. Then, and only then, will we be able to protect us all.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
N’Ceba dared not move. Dared not whisper. Dared not make a sound. She made herself as insignificant as possible, melting into the shadows of her hallway, listening to the murmuring voices in the night.
Normally her father would leave and conduct his ‘business’ elsewhere, but this was the first time someone had actually come to the house. She slowly lowered herself to the ground, back still to the wall, and edged closer towards the doorway. She quickly peaked in one breath before retreating back to the edge of the door frame.
“This has gone on long enough. You move tomorrow. You’ve followed her movements, the girl will be at her house three nights from now. Alone.”
N’Ceba’s eyes widened, and it took her swift thinking not to gasp. Taking one more look N’Ceba was sure that she saw a parcel, or the glint of a knife in the moonlight towards the hooded figure. “Make sure that Eshile’s daughter gets the message.”
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day…
N’Ceba and Runi both went dead silent when Akari walked in with M’Baku in tow, his enormous frame filling the room with a tension that pooled in the air. The heir to the throne silent, N’Ceba and Runi reading the tension in his eyes.
Runi of course, couldn’t help but bite her bottom lip before blurting out. “Soooooo I’m guessing the plan worked?”
M’Baku’s head whipped to the side, nostrils flared, not realizing this had been a team effort, but Akari grabbed his arm before he could grumble once more. “What’s important is that he’s here, and that he’s on board. Besides, we’re here for someone else, aren’t we,” Akari stated calmly, before turning to their other partner in crime (while doing a thumbs up sign behind her back at Runi). “N’Ceba why call this now?”
“To invite you to my birthday party! M’Baku already had an invitation but I thought I’d invite you guys too.” N’Ceba smiled brightly. Almost…. unnaturally bright Akari noticed.
“THAT’S what all we’re here for at 5 in the morning??” Runi cried, “so that you could invite us TO A PARTY?!”
N’Ceba’s smile faded, before taking a deep breath and sighing. “We’re here because we need to make sure that Akari isn’t at home in three night’s time.”
“Why.” M’Baku demanded, the first word he’d spoken this whole time.
The hairs on N’Ceba’s neck stood up, not missing the anger behind her friend’s words, but carried on. “I overheard my father talking to someone last night about making sure Akari ‘gets the message’. I have no idea what it means, but he was aiming for when you’d be home alone.” At this M’Baku jerked away from the table and started pacing in instinctual fury.
Runi clicked her teeth in acknowledgement. “And I’m guessing the last place your old man would think Akari would be is your birthday bash.”
“Exactly. It’ll be full of people, mostly the noblemen and their families and heirs. I can guarantee it’ll go well into the night. Meaning…”
“Whoever knocks on Akari’s door will find an empty house.” M’Baku sauntered, starting to slow down.
“It’s a good plan.” Akari gently tapped his arm, before turning to N’Ceba. “This way your father doesn’t know we know, it doesn’t get you caught, and it buys us more time.”
“I have a question!” Runi declared, shooting her hand up.
“Er, sure?” N’Ceba replied.
“Will there be cake?”
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
N’Ceba’s birthday celebration took place underneath one of the waterfalls near the borders of Jabari Land. Behind the grand icy showers was a hall hewn into rock, and from corner to corner were ribbons of red and yellow fabric. Lights covered the ceiling and part of the floors leaving the whole hall in a warm yellow glow, apparently N’Ceba’s favorite color. Lined against the far walls of the cave were tables of food and drink, with musicians in one corner letting their beat echo throughout the night while the roars of the waterfall faded in the background. Akari stood in awe of the decorations and lights, wearing a knee length flowy dress with a peachy hue with spaghetti straps that dipped into more ruffled material off her shoulders.
“I love the braids girl.” Runi mused.
“Oh yeah?” Akari twirled one around her fingers. “I wasn’t sure about the colour but me and Kaia got matching ones at the market today before she took off to her friend’s place for a sleepover.”
“Well if it looks good one of you it looks good on both.” Runi said as she munched on a small brownie. “I swear sometimes from the back you two could pass for twins.”
Akari raised an eyebrow and quickly plucked the second brownie from Runi’s plate with a grin. “Well she is getting older, I mean she’ll be eighteen in a couple weeks.”
Runi groaned before turning to try and grab some more snacks. “Ugh don’t remind me we’re getting old!”
In the midst of their conversation Akari spotted M’Baku with his boys in one corner nearer to the edge of the waterfall. They were all laughing and drinking, looking like they were daring each other to jump. Akari caught M’Baku’s eye and gave him a sly smile and a wink, to which his boys started nudging him and whooping, while M’Baku grinned with pride. She was content to let them have him to themselves for one night.
“You guys enjoying the party?”
Akari and Runi both turned around to see the birthday girl, clad in a short mermaid style dress with a slit down the side and earrings to match with two drinks in hand. N’Ceba’s smile was a look of relief. “I’m glad you guys made it.”
“So far so good,” Akari returned the smile. Runi tapped Akari in the shoulder just to let her know she was getting a call on her kimoyo beads, leaving the two girls to catch up.
“I should drag his ass here to properly accompany you.” N’Ceba sipped her drink and making judgmental eyes at the ruckus of boys in the corner, handing Akari a drink of her own.
Akari laughed as she sipped the frosted beverage. “I think he deserves to let loose after what we pulled on him the other day.”
N’Ceba snorted. “Oh girl, that wasn’t a punishment that was a damn GIFT!” To which both girls started chuckling in fits. And over the next few days, Akari would remember this moment.
This moment, where everything was right in the world. Where she felt happy and carefree with a most unlikely friend, in the most unlikely of places, and with the most unexpected of fiancés. In between the warm light of the party and the cool glow of the moon, Akari felt at peace. In this moment. Where it felt like maybe, just maybe, it was all going to work out okay.
Not long after the two girls had made their way to one of the refreshment tables N’Ceba spotted Runi pacing back to them in a panic. Dragging both of them to the side Akari struggled to balance her glass while N’Ceba was more concerned with what she had seen on Runi’s face. “Hey is everything alright?”
Runi took a moment to catch her breath, her eyes darting between the both of them. Her face was pale, her eyes widened in shock, and she struggled to find her words. “Akari I just got a message from ‘Kele. Something’s happened.”
“What do you mean ‘somethings happened’?” Akari’s heartbeat started to quicken as Runi’s eyes were on the verge of tears. Runi tried to grab Akari’s arm but she brushed it off, her voice becoming hoarse. “What do you mean. Something’s happened.’”
Runi then grabbed Akari’s arm again, firmly this time. Looking to the ground, Runi struggled to get the two words out, the two words that she knew would break her best friend’s heart.
“Its Kaia.”

M’Baku X Akari (OC)
“Uuka, my grandson. What brings you here?”
The tall, humbly bowed figure stepped closer to his grandmother. He chided himself for thinking he could out maneuver her in his quiet observations. However Nobomi was not interested in scolding him, for she could see the distress as plain as the moonlight that struck his face. “Come, my grandchild.”
Uuka approached and sat cross legged at the feet of his grandmother on the rich dark tapestry she had woven herself. Uuka’s eyes traveled along one line of gold that darted this way and that, as he held his feet on either side of his crossed legs. Trying to focus on anything, but his undeniable truth.
“I cannot stop thinking about her.”
Nobomi said nothing, only slowly nodding as she raised her hand to lay her hand on his shoulder. “N’Ceba?” Nobomi felt him tense as she gently uttered the name he had been trying to forget for years.
“Yes. And when I look at Baku... it reminds me of how I used to be with her.” Uuka scrunched his eyes. Trying to rid his mind of the smiling face that had always greet him at the palace doors ever since they were children. The same smiling face that disappeared the day he was defeated.
“Well have you tried to approach her?” Nobomi prompted.
“No. She is not interested in a failure.” At these broken words Nobomi softly patted her eldest grandson’s head, back and forth. Ever since his challenge day, in his memory, N’Ceba had neglected to speak to him. Then again, Uuka himself had neglected to speak to anyone for days. Weeks. He honestly could not remember. At that time he had shut himself up in his own mind and heart. And by the time he had finally tried to open himself back up, she was gone.
Uuka had never held any ill will towards M’Baku for beating him. No. His loathing had been for himself. For being weak enough to lose everything. His birthright. His future. And his love. Even so, Uuka had slowly returned to his gentle, caring self, watching over his little brother Baku, and noticing how N’Ceba had grown closer to him in his stead. And Uuka had always said that even now
“Uuka, my dear boy. You have always had a soft heart.” Nobomi lifted Uuka’s chin to meet her. “But you cannot keep sacrificing your own happiness for the sake of others.” Nobomi tightened her grip with her shaky fingers while Uuka huffed slightly, is shoulders sagging even deeper. “Is that not the job of an older brother?”
“That is the job of the chieftain. To give himself to and for his people. But you. You are Uuka. And that girl would not have run to your side as you were taken from that ring after the battle, if she was not interested in Uuka. She would not have snuck into the healing room where you lay for two days and two nights, if all she wanted was the throne.”
Uuka’s head snapped up at this news to his ears.
“And she would not have sworn me to secrecy, if she did not care about you. My child, who do you think showed her the way?” Nobomi chuckled, amused at Uuka’s look of bewilderment as he processed this new information. But Nobomi thought the time for
“Do not let your kindness and consideration take the best from you. There is a time to wait, and let things be as they are.”
“But there is also a time to fight for what you love.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Okay. I agree we tell M’Baku.” N’Ceba paced the familiar room with one hand against the dark stone walls. “ONLY on the provision that he makes sure to keep his mouth shut. He needs to promise not to tell Uuka. That is a given.”
Akari pinched the bridge of her nose as she sat in the chair, feeling like this banter had been going on for days. Akari, Runi and N’Ceba had been meeting in the early morning before classes in their usual secluded study room next to the cafeteria, making it harder for any spies to justify their presence at such a time. “I know he won’t agree to anything until he has the information first, say what you will but he’s too smart for that.”
Runi kissed her teeth before side-eying Akari, in all her early morning, messy hair and baggy pants glory. “Well then Kari, you might need to offer him something he can’t refuse.”
Akari quirked her head, peering at her with half lidded eyes. “What do you mean?”
“Well Akari, you are the fiance here.” Runi held both her hands out in a shrug, and N’Ceba’s eyes widened in realization, pointing in approval at the new line of thought.
“Yes yes YES anyone can see that he’s clearly head over heels for you.” She exclaimed, turning to Akari looking her up and down. “I bet you could convince him to do anything you wanted if you batted your eyelashes and with a swing of your hips.”
Akari burst out laughing not knowing if the early morning was hitting them harder than they thought, or if it was just Akari’s sole lack of sleep. “Oh as if that would ever work.” However her laughter was met with silence as N’Ceba and Runi’s eyes met, before turning to her. “Uh, you’re kidding, right?”
N’Ceba coughed out a surprised scoff. “Akari. Anyone with a pair of eyes can see you’re a bombshell. Akari you have a deadly set of curves and *clap* don’t *clap* even *clap* deny *clap* it!”
Okay now I definitely know N’Ceba didnt get any sleep. Akari pursed her lips at N’Ceba’s clapping, but before she could halt this snowballing idea Runi chipped in. “Oooh yes, and I know she has just the outfit to bring it out.”
Akari’s eyes widened. “No- NOOOO Runi you are NOT talking about that.”
N’Ceba leaned her head towards Runi with her eyes slanted. “Is it that good?”
“Oh it’s that good.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
M’Baku laughed with his boys as they waited for their morning history class to begin. He was having a good time with his friends, which was a good distraction from the fact that Akari had been to busy the past couple of days to have ‘quality time’. It was true that his urges did put a strain on his body, but things had been going so well between them that he was willing to give Akari the benefit of the doubt.
Until he heard whistles from the rest of his class, to which he turned his head and almost fell off his seat.
Now. Usually, Akari had a very standard fashion motto: practicality. Anything she wore needed to be practical in some way or other, whether it be zip pockets, a double fur lining for warmth, or snowproof. This usually resulted in standard or loose fitting cargo pants and a warm puffy jacket that made her look like a cute snowball. A fashion sense that M’Baku was always secretly grateful for, in that it kept most guys ignorant and unawares.
But today. Of all days. His fiance had decided to walk in. With tight black leggings that accentuated her killer hips. Dark brown thigh high boots that had a white fur trim at the top and down the sides, gripping her thick thighs. And a fuzzy white, strapless, long sleeved jersey that sat well on her torso, showcasing just a hint of her full breasts above the cut, but almost leaving nothing to the imagination under the fuzzy fabric that couldn’t help but cling to the curves of her cleavage.
Her hair was up in a bun that gave way to her neck and collar bone, and shoulders where the jersey danced off and down her arms. Only just. It was an outfit that echoed Akari’s usual style, except it had such a sensual flair that M’Baku knew had to be the work of Runi. And of course Akari walked in the room without so much as a second glance at anyone. Except him.
All she gave M’Baku was the shyest of smiles and the smallest of winks. The smallest of KNOWING winks. Knowing that every aspect of her outfit was designed to make M’Baku’s blood rise with heat. Knowing that it was enough to send his instinct into overdrive.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As soon as the class ended Akari briskly packed up her things and headed out into the hallway towards her next class. All of a sudden she felt the strong grip pull her behind the closed doors of a en empty closet. She knew instantly from the pulsing beat in her chest it was M'Baku, who her cornered against the wall with a glare in his eyes.
“Why the sudden outfit change, my love?” M’Baku looked her up and down like the sumptuous dessert that she was. Akari gripped the books in her hands towards her chest just so, that M’Baku saw her full breasts swell even more, dangerously close
“Its an old birthday present from Runi that I’d never worn.” Akari batted her eyelashes at M’Baku. “Do you like it?”
M’Baku looked her up and down one more time, before giving way to a carnal snarl. “You know full well what my answer is.”
Before Akari could protest M'Baku cupped her face in his hands and kissed her passionately. Akari groaned at the feeling, the instinct heightening the sensation of M'Baku's touch. His tongue brushed her lips teasingly for access, and Akari obliged, giving into the yearning her body had for M'Baku.
As M'Baku pressed her up further against the wall they knocked over a broom or two, which snapped Akari out of it, frantically reaching for the lock on the door and sealing them in with a click. "M'Bakuuu." Akari breathed as he moved from her lips down her neck settling on her collarbone.
"Not here." She managed to get out. M'Baku stopped and looked in her eyes. Akari nervously cupped his face, M'Baku leaning into her touch. She then tentatively took the lead, walking them both further into the empty classroom towards the desks and chairs. “I have something to discuss with you, baby.”
M’Baku hummed in approval at the nickname, as he let Akari sit him down on a chair, before she straddled his lap with a devilish smirk. Akari brought herself close to M’Baku’s lips yet again, just close enough that M’Baku could take in the scent of strawberries from Akari’s skin, sending the pulse of a carnal and instinctual need surging through his body. It was building with every swerve of Akari’s lips, always just out of reach. It was so intoxicating that he almost didn’t register his fiance’s following words.
“Swear on my life that you will not tell your brothers, your father, or your family what I am about to tell you, without my permission.”
M’Baku’s head snapped up, realizing the weight of her words and the realization that this might have been a trap. “Akari-”
His words were cut short as his eyes grew ever more cloudy with a raging lust of the instinct shooting straight to his groin as Akari mercilessly dragged her hips up and down his hardened length beneath his clothing, the tightness of her leggings doing nothing to obscure the feel of her soft pussy just out of his reach.
Up and down Akari went, watching M’Baku’s breath grow more and more ragged, his nostrils flaring as he watched her. “Swear it.”
Suddenly Akari hiked herself up chest to chest with M’Baku, bringing her hands close to. Watching her starting her sultry expression turn into the soft wanton gaze that he had seen so many times in his bed, the feel of her fingers on his face, forcing him to look at her. It was driving him mad.
And a man can only take so much.
“I swear.”

M’Baku x Akari (OC)
“Bet what hmm?” Runi raised her eyebrows, challenging her captor. No matter what the situation, Runi was always acted like she was in control, even when she didn’t have the upper hand. But even she was starting to have second thoughts about provoking the beast. Zahkele’s salacious gaze told her as much, who was eyeing her up like prey.
“Bet those black panties. And that bra.” He relished in watching her mouth turn in utter shock at his boldness.
But Runi was quickly shaken out of her daze, trying to wriggle out of his grip but to no avail. “Gyagh, so what’s the bet?”
All of a sudden they were snapped out of their negotiations as they heard the muffled sound of the front door slamming. The pitter patter of footsteps grew closer and closer, and Zahkele quickly twirled Runi around so her back was to his stomach, tightening his hold with one hand on her mouth and one around her waist. He liked the way Runi’s body moulded with his own, taking in the distinct scent of boysenberries that wafted from her skin. As they waited for the footsteps to identify themselves, Zahkele brought himself to Runi’s ear.
“Bet I can make you moan.”
“Kele!”
“What do you want Kaia?!” He roared, and beyond the door Kaia made a face at Zahkele’s unwarranted outburst. Little did she know his frustration of being interrupted, trying to keep a squirming Runi on lock in his arms. “Hold still!” He hissed into her ear.
“Did Runi come over?”
“Yeah, but she said she had some stuff to do so she went home.” This comment earning an angry muffle from Runi who then started thrashing. But before she could break free Zahkele, suddenly eyed up a soft spot on Runi’s neck, licking his lips before going in for the kill.
Runi let out a muffled squeal when she felt Zahkele’s mouth suckle on the nape of her neck. Zahkele raised his eyebrows, realising he must’ve found her sweet spot. He continued to nip and suck on the soft skin until he was sure it was going to leave a mark.
“Okay. Kari just wanted me to let the fam know she’d be going to the palace for dinner.”
The squirming stopped as both Zahkele and Runi unknowingly made the same expression of intrigue. And Zahkele would have normally pressed further, if he didn’t already have business to attend to. “Okay, sounds good, I’ll let dad know when he gets home.”
“Sweet.” Zahkele didn’t even wait for the pitter patter of feet walking away before continuing his brazen attack on Runi’s neck, weakening her with every lick. Every bite. . Zahkele let his hand roam her waist, feeling the slight curve of her hips that dipped in the tight black training pants she was wearing.
Zahkele had always seen the girl in his arms as exactly that- a girl. The loud-mouthed friend of his sister, but also friend of the family. It was until that fateful night Ever since that night Zahkele had started to notice Runi was actually grown. Fully grown. And night after night he had prayed for Hanuman to help him, considering he couldn’t help himself.
Runi let out a small muffled moan.
He really couldn’t.
Zahkele finished off his second hickey with peppered kisses along her shoulder until he reached her singlet strap. Satisfied with his victory, he released Runi, stepping back and watching her almost stumble as her very knees were weak. Zahkele causally made his way back onto the bed, lying down in the exact same position Runi found him in. They both heard the front door slam again, signifying the fact that both of them were now again alone.
“I guess I win.”
“Oh shut up.” Runi took one look at her former captor, lying there with a smugly wolfish grin, and for a moment paused to take in the image of his half-naked form. Before relieving herself of her singlet. She then jumped on the bed and immediately straddled Zahkele’s hips, grinding on his hard member through the fabric of his pants, rewarding her with a hiss from Zahkele before his hands found her hips once again. Runi brought her lips to his in a heated kiss, while Zahkele ground his hips upward. Neither one was willing to let up.
Even when Zahkele all but ripped Runi’s pants off while Runi furiously undid his own. When Runi settled herself on his lap, taking him inch by inch not by necessity, only to tease. Even when Zahkele gripped her hips as she winded on top of him, raking her hands up and down Zahkele’s chiseled torso.
Neither one was willing to admit defeat.
Even when Zahkele’s grunts signalled his release at the beckon of Runi’s gasps, now towering over her as she raked her nails down his back and came with a loud cry. And as they both lay there in the afterglow, tangled in each other’s arms,
Neither one decided to let go.
 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Laughter echoed throughout the hall as the Lord and his family unfurled themselves on the many pillows and furs around the lavish banquet before them. Nocawe had already started piling on her second plate. It’s okay Kari, you can do this. You’ve already met half the family, and your pretty sure none of them hate you which is good. Akari counted the facts that were in her favour, letting them bolster her confidence.
Akari in her silence mentally ticked off the names of M’Baku’s brother, all of whom were in attendance. Uuka, clad in a light blue sleeveless top with white furs on his shoulders, nearest to his mother and the chief at the head of the table. Next to him sat Akhona, dressed partly in armour like he had come straight from the battlefield. Akari couldn’t help but wish she was seated across from anyone but him, as his ambivalent gaze felt more cold than neutral.
On Akari’s side of the table she was sat next to M’Baku on her right and the youngest twins, Fundiswa and Gcobisa on her left. They both settled for talking amongst themselves, but gave her curious side-eyes whenever their conversation lulled, which was usually about fighting for food.
Akari knew that most times her quiet or aloof nature around strangers was interpreted as standoffish, or just plain snobby. But in reality, Akari was just confident in herself that she didn’t feel the need to make small talk with every person in the room. She was comfortable in her silence. Well, usually.
“M’Baku my boy, you’re fiancé has barely said a word! It must be because she’s ashamed at your manners.” The chief chided his son, who was halfway through his second helping of rice before casting a concerned ‘you okay?’ glance towards Akari.
Akari gave a sort of ‘help me’ look towards Nocawe as the chief threw back is head in laughter, while Nocawe (with a mouth half full of papaya) mouthed to her the word ‘breathe’. Akari had gone to Nocawe for advice as soon as M’Baku invited her, for which Nocawe was only more than happy to help.
The most important thing you can do, is be honest child. Even if it is not the most ‘proper’ answer. The chief values honesty, and as long as you are truthful, it will be fine.
“Well to be honest, my Lord, I am very anxious.” Akari chuckled nervously, and M’Baku put his bowl down at the boldly open answer his fiancé gave. “I am not only in the presence of our chieftain, but my future in laws, and in truth I don’t know which I am more nervous about. I care for M’Baku, and he cares for his family, therefore I hope to make a good impression.” She finished with a shy smile. The chieftain smiled and nodded at her words, and Nocawe sneakily gave her a wink and a thumbs up.
“Do we scare you?” The chieftain prompted.
“Oh Hanuman no!” Akari laughed loudly for the first time that night, earning raised eyebrows all around. “My father made sure to beat fear out of us when we were young.” Akari skulled back a cup of cordial, before her expression went dark. “We have no fear.”
The brothers all made nervous eyes at Akari’s sudden change of tone and the sliiiiight hint of bloodlust in her eyes, making them wonder what kind of training she had endured before their father burst into laughter yet again. “That is exactly what I would expect from Eshile’s offspring, nothing less!”
The brothers relaxed while the chief continued on. “I have fond memories of your father. We did not call him the ‘fang of the Jabari’ for nothing.” Nocawe nodded in agreement. “Only my wife here was bold enough to face him in training, and that was because your father would bribe her with the promise of exotic foods if she won.”
“What can I say, the food was good!” Nocawe shouted in her defence with her mouth half full of sweet potato, and Akari couldn’t help but burst into laughter, as did the table.
The night continued on with many a tall and entertaining tale, including several childhood memories that the brother’s had wished had never resurfaced. Nocawe and Daluxolo however seemed content to embarrass their children, especially M’Baku, who by the end of it had earned a worn out Akari on his shoulder who had almost been brought to tears at not only the stories, but the story-tellers themselves, who she was guessing were mostly excited by the fact they had a fresh audience.
M’Baku walked Akari through the large hallways and watched her wipe a tear from the corner of her eye. “I’m glad you had fun.”
Akari burst into a small chuckle. “Well I’m glad I came M’Baku, I hope I made a good impression.”
“Are you kidding? My father was practically beaming with pride when he saw you fall off the cushion almost scream-laughing.” M’Baku smiled, before looking to the side with hopeful eyes. “I hope that you will come again?”
“Of course Baku, I’d be honoured.” Akari flashed him a genuine smile, and M’Baku thought his heart would stop. Something warmed him inside at the sight of his fiancé’s happiness, something that made him feel pride. Grandmama Nobomi watched from her little corner as she weaved in the moonlight, waving to the happy couple as soon as they passed by. But as soon as they were gone from sight Grandmama Nobomi shifted her gaze to the shadows.
“Are you done spying?”
Nobomi watched as the figure emerged from the darkness, her eyes softening slightly when the familiar face stepped into the moonlight.
“There’s something I need to talk to you about.”

Fated Instinct Chapter 13: Relax. Breathe. And Jab.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Sequel to Cabin in the Snow. Akari finds herself in a predicament after an accidental overnight stay in a cabin grants her the title of fiance to the chieftain-to-be M’Baku himself.
Author’s Note: This chapter is a tad longer than the last, usually I’d split them up into two chapters but it just seemed too abrupt to divide it mid-scene. An important note is that a lot of times I will reference things from Cabin in the snow so I do recommend reading it, just or context of things like in the previous chapter.
Warning: Get’s a little frisky

M’Baku x Akari (OC)
M’Baku watched as Akari and N’Ceba left the room thankfully unscathed, unbloodied, and surprisingly, not hateful. Runi had propped herself up on a chair against the wall watching the small switchblade twirl in her hands, while Kwhezi had long since excused himself. Each of them had a content, mutual understanding in their eyes, but hidden under their smiles he could see a serious resolve. He knew both women well enough to know there was something between them now, something that he wasn’t privy to. But for now he decided not to push it, content enough that they were both on civil terms.
Runi hopped off her chair and watched as N’Ceba left with her minions, peering at her perky backside. “Sooo we ain’t tag-teaming her ass?”
Akari laughed. “Nope, or at least not yet.” Akari knew that if even a morsel of what N’Ceba said was true, then that meant she needed to be on her guard, and that N’Ceba herself may be the least of her worries. It seems that some for her previous fears about this engagement were not entirely unfounded, and she knew that she would have to look into it more. She sighed before turning to her best friend. “You finished for the day?”
Runi shrugged. “You know it.”
“Sweet, I might head back home before going in early. I’ll see you tonight for the session?”
“As if I’d miss an opportunity to whoop Zahkele’s ass.” Runi grinned mischievously as she walked away, leaving Akari with a very apprehensive M’Baku. “Anything I can help with Kari?”
Akari sighed. “Trust me, after the talk I just had? All I need to go do is relax. I’ll probably head to the training centre early tonight, it is Tuesday after all.” M’Baku quirked his head to the side, and Akari endeavoured to elaborate. “Every Tuesday me and my family head to the training centre together to let off steam, to de-stress, and just spend time together as a family.” Akari smiled, before biting her lip and eyeing M’Baku’s curious look. “Would you like to come along?”
“Sure, why not?” M’Baku grinned.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Relax, she said.
THWACK! Zahkele threw a spear at his target, managing to pierce the board itself and the board behind it.
De-stress, she said.
Kaia spindled up the training ropy like a spider to its thread, proceeding to hang upside down from her rope with her dagger in her mouth.
Spending quality time as a family she said.
Watching M’Baku with his mouth open at the spectacle around him, Zahkele decided to offer the newbie a bone. “Baku, c’mere. Lemme give you some advice.” Zahkele gestured, pulling M’Baku into his armpit so he could whisper in his ear. “Look. Here me when I say, you can’t be pulling your punches here. You gotta go full strength no matter who you’re up against, because they’ll do the same to you. And, maybe, just maybe.” Zahkele chuckled as he backed away. “You’ll survive.”
The intensity in the room was unreal. Eshile was watching Zahkele’s form while Akari and Runi were throwing hits using gloves, with . While it was not a menacing aura, M'Baku felt the atmosphere in the room had changed from the happy family dynamic, to a stoic and serious gaze he could only see from the guards.
“Is this a normal night for you guys?”
Akari stopped sparring with Runi and called out to Zahkele to come and swap, as Akari ducked out of the ring to meet M'Baku on the mat. “Well I mean, I mean its normal for us, it keeps our skills sharp,  and lets us get out our aggression healthily.” Akari grunted as she rolled her neck, tightening her boxing pads on her hands before settling into a receiving stance. “Now let’s go.”
 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zahkele and Runi kept sparring on the mat until both were upright entangled in each other’s limbs, neither one willing to fall. Wrestling was a favorite past time with these two, having kept score for almost a decade. Runi’s leg was tucked behind Zahkele’s knee, ready to whip his feet out from under him, if only she could untangle his hold on her arm and hip. But she knew as soon as he fatigued, the slightest slip even for a millisecond would cost him his footing. And there was no way he could hold up forever. “Might as well give up Kele.” Runi snarled.
“Or what?” Zahkele grinned, locking eyes with Runi in a mischevious smirk. “You gonna flash me again like you did the other night?”
Runi’s mouth dropped open, and in her shock Zakhele managed to push Runi off balance. Runi landed on her back and growled propping herself on her eyebrows and eyeing her haughty opponent, making a mental note to smack that grin right off of his smug face.
“Oh its on.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Akari!” Eshile yelled, walking away from Zahkele and towards the couple, who instantly halted at the sound of the commanding voice. "May I have a turn with M'Baku?”
“Father…”
“I promise I will not break your betrothed, you have my word.” Eshile rose his hand with the other to his breast, Akari’s weary gaze softening but not dissipating.
“Its okay,” M'Baku lightly grabbed Akari’s arm. “I’m sure your family knows my American style pancakes are too good to let me die, or at least good enough to let me keep my limbs,” M'Baku joked, wanting to see Akari’s smile again. She gave him a warm nod, his touch enough to assure him that he would protect himself at all times.
Akari walked away towards Kaia, who had settled on hanging upside down from two of the long ropes hanging from the ceiling. She grinned at the sight of her very nimble sister, before taking a deep breath and starting the climb.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Does your father know you’re doing this?” Eshile asked, pointing his spear at M'Baku, who tentatively grasped his own with both hands. “No sir, although I have not forgotten your words from the first time we met.”
“And you still think it’s a good idea?”
“No sir. But I’m willing to learn from the best.” M'Baku spread his legs into a horse like stance, tentatively gripping his spear with both hands. “Plus, I thought maybe this would be a good way to impress Akari.” M'Baku joked.
“Son,” Eshile chuckled before snapping into a more flexible wide’ legged stance, tucking his spear under his left armpit and leaving his right arm free to curl his fist. “You picked the wrong opponent for that.”
Within a split second Eshile was in M'Baku’s face, and the younger opponent barely had enough time to bring his spear across his chest in defence. M'Baku ending up sliding a good meter across the dark grey floor. He curled his toes trying to plant his feet, anything to get a good footing against the man in front of him. Finally Eshile stopped advancing, and grinned as he freed his hold and began attacking at close range with no mercy.
Blow after blow he fired at M'Baku, who in his defense was outmatched, but barely managing to hold his own. Eshile was not only fast but dextrous, as each movement seemed to be part of a furious dance, the spear a very extension of his own limb. M'Baku could see the same style when he fought with Akari, a powerful skill that he admired. Once again M'Baku was brought face to face with his father in law, and as the metal from their spears screeched against each other. “You can hold your own. Impressive.” Eshile admitted. “Not as fluid as Akari but you have strength and quick thinking.” Eshile’s eyes shifted to the side, and with a quick glance M'Baku met the sight of Akari advising Kaia on how to throw a spear, and the way her face lit up in pride for her younger sibling. M'Baku’s gaze shifted back, now realizing what this match was.
“You are right sir, but I hope to be one day. In all honesty I am grateful to have her.” M’Baku answered confidently.
In one swift motion Eshile unlocked their spears and the two began circling each other once again. “That is good to hear.” Eshile acknowledged before he crouched low. “I can see my daughter is fond of you. And you treat her well that much I can see. You care for her greatly.”
“I do.” M'Baku gritted his teeth as he tried to wrestle out of Eshile’s grip.
“Then hear me when I say boy that you must keep your guard up, always. Not only for your sake but for hers.” M’Baku fended off several more hits before he worked up the courage to ask a question that had been forming in his mind.
“Then would you ever consider training me?”
Well isn’t this boy just full of surprises.
"And why would I do that?”
“Because I want to have the strength to keep your daughter safe.” Eshile swore he saw something dark flicker in M'Baku’s eyes during his words. “And you have shown me that I have a lot to learn.”
Eshile grunted as he eyed up the boy in front of him. Daluxolo must have told M’Baku of who he was, who he used to be. And judging from the look in the boy’s eyes, he was dead serious.
“Okay then.” Eshile twirled his spear, throwing it up in the air before catching it. “Let’s get to work.”
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the night drew long, Kaia had headed home first, as she had always been an early sleeper. Zahkele had headed off after her, and Runi did the same, although she decided to run back to the house as her cooling down from training. Which left Akari, Eshile and M'Baku.
“A good first day of training your highness.” Eshile grinned, his normal cheery demeanour now settling in as normal. “I hope this won’t be the last time you join us.”
“That is if my body can move tomorrow.” M'Baku waggled his eyebrow at Eshile, who laughed at his future son-in-law’s wheezing form. Before heading to the changing rooms to grab his things, but not before turning to the former royal guard in gratitude. “Thank you for letting me come and train with your family.”
“Eh, that’s okay, just tell our chieftain that I gave you a good workover eh?” Eshile winked, knowing full well Daluxolo would just be surprised his son came back alive. “Well I best be heading back, I think Akari is still in the changing rooms though…”
“I will wait for her to walk her home.”
“You do that.” Eshile pointed the spear at him before walking away. “Make sure she rests somewhere safe tonight.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Kari!” M'Baku called into the changing room as he walked in, looking around to make sure no one else was around. “I brought your gear you left on the mat…”
As M'Baku turned the corner he felt a shift in his pulse as he peeked at his betrothed in her naked form. The ends of her long hair settling into the small of her back, just before her plump ass. He watched as she closed her eyes and let the water run down and caress her body, maneuvering the soap suds this way and that around her skin. Almost immediately M'Baku dropped his back, finally gaining Akari’s attention. Looking back at her lover with a small but subtle smile before turning her back to him. At once M'Baku started undressing, and made his way into the showers, coming up behind Akari and letting his fingers caress her hips, taking the soap from her hands.
“I can help with that, usana.”
Akari let her head fall back and lean on M'Baku as he worked the soap into a thick lather on his hands, before abandoning it to roam free on her body. He first massaged her stomach, moving upwards to grab her breasts, slowly squeezing each one with every contented sigh that came from the woman in his arms. M'Baku moved towards her back, softly massaging her back, moving lower until he gave her a small pat on her ass with a chuckle. Akari turned to M'Baku, bringing her arms around his neck in a slow kiss under the pitter patter of the shower. In this moment all of Akari’s tensions and worries were washed away, all but forgotten. In M’Baku she found her solace. And in Akari’s small smiles between their kisses, her lovingly gentle caresses, and the way her eyes sparkled even under the stream of water as they looked at him with love, M’Baku found his happiness. A happiness that he would vow to protect, no matter what would come their way.

M’Baku x Akari (OC)
“As the moon waxes and wanes, so do those of ritual bond feel the waves of instinct emerge stronger and stronger with every moon. The carnality within cannot be suppressed, neither can it be controlled. It can only be... indulged.”
Before Akari could process what just happened she heard Runi call out from the hallway. “Akariiiiiii do you want the rest of your breakfast or can I eat it?”
Her eyes quickly went back to M’Baku who retreated from her and sighed. “Well I guess I better get going and let you finish.” M’Baku smirked as Akari understood the double meaning of his words, almost glowering at the fact he knew he got her all riled up knowing the instinct was stronger with every passing day. “But I mean, if you would like to... take up where we left off... you are more than welcome to visit my room during your visit to the palace.” He smirked devilishly. “My mother really did want you there, it seems that you are owed an apology by the high priest who wanted to meddle in our love life, the one who consequently slipped you a love potion last night.” Akari saw M’Baku stiffen slightly as the next words sat uncomfortably on his tongue. “Seems he thought I was not… paying you the attention you deserved.”
“Uh-huuuh..” Akari did remember seeing N’Ceba on M’Baku’s arm, and even though she knew M’Baku would not betray her like that, she did want to bring it up later, when her head wasn’t as hazy.
Akari furrowed her brow. “And you believed that was all this priest was trying to do?”
“Yes, he is best friends with Grandmamma Nobomi, and there is no way he would try and incur her wrath willingly by trying to harm me or my betrothed.”
Akari would be lying if she said she didn’t feel her heart skip a little when he referred to her as his. But going back to the topic at hand, she didn’t know if she completely could trust the word of a priest who so easily managed to drug her. However M’Baku saw the worry in her eyes and tilted her head towards him.
“I am sure. Trust me. Although… he did make me realize how we do need to start trying for a baby now.”
“...Uh, say what now?”
“I’m joking I’m joking, I just wanted to see the look on your face.” M’Baku erupted with laughter at Akari’s frantic expression.
“I mean well… it’s not that I am totally unopposed to it..” Akari mumbled, not knowing what possessed her to open up to her fiance. “I mean in the far FAR off future, maybe…”  Akari gulped, her nerves taking over her speech as she put her hand behind her neck, not meeting M’Baku’s gaze. Oh Hanuman what am I even trying to say?!
M’Baku’s teasing expression turned to wonder as he realized this was a rare moment, and M’Baku felt this heart swell with pride at his betrothed talking openly about their future, even just a little. He clasped her hands together within his and kissed the top of her knuckles, looking into her nervous eyes. “Not now, but someday.”
Akari smiled gratefully as he pressed his forehead on hers. She couldn’t deny she was getting fonder and fonder of him by the day. Akari had to admit she liked his affections, the way his hand gently wrapped around her back…slowly…. going lower….and… lower… and…
“M’BAKU!” Akari shrieked as she felt both of M’Baku’s hands squeeze her ass so hard she jumped. “WOW way to ruin the moment!” She berated him, hitting him off of her as he laughed.
“Oh, we were having a moment were we?” M’Baku smirked, he found it funny as well as cute that Akari could go from angry to shy in half a moment. “Well, Kari, after you have your nap, and finish the breakfast that your dearest fiancé prepared so lovingly,” M’Baku tried to stifle a laugh when he saw her mouth start to water at the thought of his cooking, “and once you’ve seen the high priest… maybe we can have many, many more moments with each other….” Trailing off as he took her lips once more in a farewell kiss.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After having to listen to a very lengthy and profuse apology from a very apologetic high priest, (who also ended up trying to offer Akari child-inducing potions, to which Akari politely refused and accepted the normal healing ones instead), she boldly headed in the direction of her fiance’s room.
Even though it wasn’t the first time her and M’Baku had been… well, intimate, for some reason she felt slightly nervous. The last time was impulsive, at night, in the dark, and in secret. And while she had accepted she did have feelings for M’Baku, she couldn’t help the bundle of butterflies in her stomach. She’d never felt this nervous for any past dates or encounters with boys or men, but with M’Baku… everything was different.
Of course it didn’t help that she could feel a slight change within his demeanor that morning. It was the first time he had been so forward, and she could see in his eyes the change in his affections. His dominance seeping through his gentle actions, and Akari could feel a change in herself too, wanting to succumb to him. She could only hope that they would both be able to manage these changes.
Akari only had to knock once before M’Baku swung the door open, almost as if he had been waiting intently by the door. She walked in and placed her satchel on the ground next to the bed before turning around to face M’Baku, whose eyes were now dark with lust. Akari’s breath hitched as he cradled the back of her neck, bringing the other hand around her waist while her hands rested on his chest. “Akari…” M’Baku breathed.
“Let me give you the attention you deserve.”
M’Baku quickly devoured Akari’s plump lips with his own, Akari returning the kiss on instinct. “Let me show you that there is no other for me.” Akari knew what he meant, and with a sharp tinge of possessiveness of her own she lifted his head with her fingers sharply. “Say it again.”
Akari watched M’Baku’s eyes peer down at her, already glazed over with need. “Akari, there is no one else for me but you. Only you.” He breathed, before claiming her lips yet again.
Akari could feel it in her veins, there was something different about M’Baku. Even though he was being gentle, she could tell he was trying to restrain himself. However Akari felt something inside herself manifest too, as she grew bolder, turning M’Baku’s face so that she could trail kisses down his neck, earning her a growl from his dark lips.
Her little ministrations felt like fire to M’Baku. Staring to breathe heavier he almost pleaded with her. “Akari, can I undress you?”
Akari stopped her kisses so that she could shift so that M’Baku could take her furs off as well as her shirt, leaving her only in her bra. Akari then removed her pants, but as she rose M’Baku raise his eyebrow with a lustful smile as Akari ran her fingers up his torso, pulling his black v-neck off of him. “Fair is fair.” She chucked, throwing the shirt behind her.
M’Baku bit his lip as he took in the sight before him. “Lay down.”
Akari lay down on the bed, propping herself up against the pillows as M’Baku moved to crawl onto the bed over her, meeting her lips before trailing kisses down her neck, her chest, her stomach, and finally to her little black panties.
M’Baku slowly pulled them down her thighs as the scent of her arousal hit him,  his eyes dark as the instinct pulsed within him, feeling the urge to take his mate. But before he could begin he heard Akari’s sweet voice above him. “Baku I... I’m nervous.”
“Don’t be, sithwanda sam.” He hummed lowly, pressing butterfly kisses against Akari’s thighs. “Just relax…” He purred, as he took in the sight of her wetness inviting him into her. “And let me worship you.”
Akari’s eyes had momentarily closed as she enjoyed M’Baku’s thigh kisses, but they instantly snapped open when she felt M’Baku’s warm mouth on her pussy, his tongue revelling in her innermost parts. She moaned and almost fully sat up at the sensation before M’Baku almost slammed her down into the pillows, keeping a hand on her plush stomach to keep her in position. Akari instantly started mewling at the feeling M’Baku was bestowing upon her. M’Baku’s tongue was doing wonders down there and she swore under her breath as he nudged her clit with his nose.
Akari’s cries of pleasure fuelled M’Baku’s lust as he dove again and again into Akari’s warmth, loving the way she would writhe underneath his hold. He knew that no other man had ever touched her like this, or given her such pleasures, and so he held nothing back, swirling his tongue before darting it back and forth between her folds, earning him curses mixed in with moanings of his own name.
Akari was drowning in sensual ecstasy, and as she rose her head to try and catch a glimpse of M’Baku, she threw her head back and moaned at the sight of his lustful eyes watching her as he devoured her pussy. M’Baku watched her fall apart as her moans grew higher and higher, and as he grabbed one of her full mounds with his hand, pinching the nipple between his fingers, she came undone, cumming on M’Baku’s face to the approving growl of her intended, who eagerly lapped up her sweet juices.
“Akari, the instinct has been driving me crazy.” M’Baku said in a low moan, still cradled between her thighs. “I have craved you ever since last night.” Slowly he crawled back up to her again. “Ever since you seduced me at the banquet, walking in with that absolutely sexy dress, and the way you pressed up against me with these.” M’Baku took a breast in each hand as he pecked each full mound, “You made me want to take you as a woman right then and there in the light of the full moon, so that everyone would know who you belonged to.”
Akari felt her body respond to the dominant tone in M’Baku’s voice, and her bones ached with longing as he trailed his way further up her body towards her face. Akari’s want for M’Baku was just as present, as she locked eyes with the hulk of a man that towered over her. With a shy, tentative hand that gently made its way up M’Baku’s torso. “Baku wait.”
M’Baku let the beautiful vixen beneath him trail the faint lines of his abs that hid themselves beneath the soft body fat of his stomach with her other hand, and growled in approval as he felt her daring hand wrap around his hardened member, simultaneously pushing him on his back with her other hand. Letting his mate take the lead he watched as she settled on his legs, and lowered her mouth towards his pelvis, not missing the sparks of lustful anticipation in her eyes.
“Now it’s my turn.”
