A few more 😊 13,14,15,19,20,21,23?
13.) favorite books?
Eugene Sledge’s two books which I grew up reading the first one, Robert Leckie’s books, R.V Burgin’s book, and Ruta Sepetys’ Salt to the Sea book which made me sob.
14.) favorite genres to read or watch?
Horror for film and and historical fiction for reading 👀
15.) hot fandom take?
Well, it’s definitely [REDACTED]. Kidding, it’s not a “hot take” but whatever. Snafu is bottom. Don’t wanna hear your arguments ‘cause I know I’m right 💀
19.) favorite actor?
Rami Malek, hands down. He’s such a versatile actor. I think he totally shines in historical films, but I love almost any role he does. I’ve met him in real life (with the Bohemian Rhapsody cast, including Joe Mazzello, Ben Hardy, and Gwilym Lee 👀) and is such a down to Earth person. Love him.
20.) least favorite actor?
I’m gonna get tons of flame, but either Natalie Portman or Gal Gadot. I think Natalie Portman is a decent actor, but I’ve seen some of her interviews and she’s… eh :/ and Gal Gadot isn’t a good actor in my humble opinion. That’s just me though. No hate to either of them, they just don’t entertain me, which is fine if they do for other people.
21.) been in any fandom drama?
Fandom? Yes, did it have to do with the actual show? No. Some people in the fan base treated me and my friends like complete shit. I won’t expand because I do not care anymore because that’s how us southerners do it lmao, but what I experienced was absolutely immaturity from others.
23.) any followers/mutuals you would want to talk to more?
@staud, @blood-mocha-latte, and @the-cinnamontography-is-amazing! All are lovely people and hopefully I get to chat or interact with them more!
From my ask game!

taking Gwil to the arcade for your first date and he hasn’t been in yearsss
Blurb Advent 2023: Day 20
Another somewhat targeted attack on me!
Warnings: nothin much, a lil bit of first date awkwardness and some healthy competitiveness, not edited
You practiced pronouncing his name as you stood outside the arcade, looking from one end of the street to the other. You’d had to google the pronunciation, just to make sure you had it right, since Gwilym wasn’t a terribly common name in your experience. But aside from any anxieties about mispronunciations, you were mostly excited to finally meet him in real life. You’d met Gwilym through a dating app and had hit it off almost instantly. There hadn’t been any red flags since you’d started chatting – his photos seemed legitimate and nothing he said was off-putting or worrying. Even your friends had agreed he seemed alright when you’d showed them his profile. So you’d asked if he wanted to go out on a date and then set to work planning it.
Since meeting up had been your call you felt it was only fair that you organise the date too. Something other than going to a bar or a coffee shop where you’d sit stiffly at a table feeling awkward, hoping to god you could think of something to say. It took a little brainstorming but eventually you settled on the arcade. It would be fun and relaxed, the games would give you something to discuss if worst came to worst conversationally, and it was much more your style. There was a risk he’d be scared off by it or think you were mad, but the reward was high if it paid off and he found it charming. If things went well and he appreciated a woman who could win him a silly toy, there were a few options for extending the date at local cafes and bars on the same street, and if it went really well then you were quite close to your apartment. Not that you were intending anything like that to happen so soon but it was good to be prepared.
Gwilym had seemed surprised but not in a bad way when you suggested the arcade, readily agreeing to meet you there. When you finally saw him heading towards you he seemed a little excited. He was certainly smiling when he greeted you, and you were hit by the revelation that he was handsomer in real life than his already handsome photos. Jackpot.   “I have to admit I haven’t been to an arcade in years,” Gwil said as you headed inside after the greetings were through, “Well, that’s not strictly true. I took my nephew to one maybe six months ago but didn’t really play anything myself.”  You laughed, “Well hopefully this is more fun than babysitting.”  “I’m sure it will be. Where should we start?”
As you wandered around looking for the right first game, you fell into an easy conversation. The arcade made for a good talking point and Gwilym asked you if you went there often which got the ball rolling. He interrupted himself to point out a taiko drumming game that had just become available and the both of you rushed over to play. You were able to keep talking a bit as you played, though mostly about the song options and how hard rhythm games were. Gwilym got the hang of it a little quicker than you did and dared to try it on a slightly harder setting before he was ready to find a different game. He made sure to check how many points he’d won at the end of it and you thought you saw him glance at your screen to compare. He definitely kept score at the connect-four basketball game, though that made sense since you were playing against each other. But it was when you hit up a tandem game of Mario Kart that you saw him competitive side really come out.He was not afraid of dropping bananas in your path, throwing a blue shell to stop you in your tracks or of gloating a little when he crossed the finish like a second before you did. You didn’t mind, you enjoyed a bit of competition too, but you’d at least been trying to remain chill for the duration of your first date.   So when you were finding a new game and Gwil said, “Should I beat you at the strength tester next?” you were a little fed up and responded a little tersely.  To his credit, Gwilym picked up on your change of mood and quickly realised his error, “Shit, sorry. I’m um, I can be a bit competitive. And sometimes a bit of a dick.”  You felt better once he’d acknowledged it and was able to laugh it off, “Good thing I’m competetive too,”  “Oh yeah?”  “Mmmhmm. And I nearly had you in Mario Kart. If you hadn’t been so lucky with your items I would have won.”  “Are you suggesting a rematch?”  You glanced back at the machine, “Well I would be but theres a couple of kids on there now,”  Gwilym laughed.  “How about I kick your arse at skee ball instead?”  He snorted in playful derision, “I’d like to see you try.”Unfortunately for Gwilym you were very practiced at skee ball and, though he put in a good show, you ultiumately came out chamption.   “Fuck you are good at this,” he said when he compared your final scores, “i suppose you should get a reward for beating me.”  “Thats what the tickets are for Gwil,”  “Okay then, it’sfor putting up with me being an arse before.”  “I don’t think they give out prizes for that,” you laughed.”  “Well I was trying to be charming but, clearly, I’ve missed the mark. Can I kiss you?”  “Oh!” you felt a blush creep onto your cheeks as you realised what he’d been trying to do, “Yes, absolutely. But I feel a right fool for needing it spelt out.”  Gwil chuckled as he leaned in, tilting your chin up so he could kiss you.   You hadn’t expected a kiss to happen so soon, if at all, but you were glad you were wrong. He was a good kisser.
His lips lingered against yours before he pulled away and you felt more than a little flustered about everything that had happened.  “Was that okay?” he asked, his thumb brushing your cheek softly.   “Very okay. Maybe next winner should get a kiss too?”  He laughed softly, “Definitely. I bet I can beat you at whack-a-mole.”  “Don’t count on it”

Eidys keeps having dreams (probably because of the Tome of Strahd she's been reading for a while now.) about how she's betrothed to the Zaroviches/Vasili
Last session she was dreaming about Sergei's wedding and how all of that went down, and she was betrothed to Rahadin in the dream 😭
She also got to chat a bit with Alek Gwilym and it was really cute ;u;
I don't actually know if we'll somehow bring him into the game but I already have AU's either way :,)

One of my favorite things about Dafydd ap Gwilym’s poetry is that the man was....I don’t want to say he was straight, because that’s a nigh-impossible call to make on a man who lived the better part of a millennium ago (and whose canon’s been specifically pruned to present a certain image), BUT the majority of his poetry concerns his relationships with women, and yet, overwhelmingly, I’ve had queer scholars mention to me that they feel some kind of connection to it.
Like, this guy openly wrote poetry that said “I don’t think God’s as cruel as people say he is”  in the 14th century, about a love affair that wasn’t sanctioned by the law or by the religion of his own time, who openly wrote about feeling like an outcast for this love, meeting with her in secret, and like. It still rings out. And he’s still one of the only figures from the middle ages I’ve ever studied where I feel like he and I could have a nice chat and find some common ground.

Can I request a Joe Mazzello x reader oneshot where reader and their toddler daughter come surprise visit Joe on the set of Bohemian Rhapsody?
A/N It's about damn time that I get to this, it's been sitting in my inbox for I don't know how long. My sincerest apologies my darling, I live in shame. Hopefully, this makes up for the wait!
My Best Girls
Masterlist
Joe Mazzello x fem! Reader
Warnings: Fluffy as s h i t. Slightly suggestive content at the end.
Joe turned off his phone, wishing he could jump right through it.
The boys were just over halfway through filming and he missed you more than ever. He'd just gotten off of a Facetime call with you and your daughter Lila, who had learned how to say Bohemian Rhapsody just for her dad. Watching you slowly coach her through it made his heart heavy and he turned away to blink back tears.
Homesickness sucked and right now Joseph Mazzello was painfully homesick and wallowed in it for the next 30 minutes. Rami knocked on the door to his trailer to let him know he was needed on set. Joe nodded, unable to conceal the look of upset on his face. Rami was privy to his best mate's struggles and gave him a hug. He was also privy, however, to the surprise that would be awaiting him outside.
Joe squared his shoulders and walked onto the set of Freddie's house and faltered when he saw someone who looked a lot like his wife wearing what looked a lot like his polo shirt chatting to Gwilym. Suddenly a tiny child with springy red hair sprinted up to you and leapt into your arms and Joe realised that that was his child with his wife and his polo shirt.
"Baby?"
You turned your head and saw your beloved husband standing there in Deacy attire and complete and utter shock.
"Daddy!"
Lila launched herself out of your arms and into Joe's where he buried his face in her curls and you knew he was crying. You speed over to your family and stood on tip-toe to kiss your husband's head as he cradled your daughter tightly.
Joe put Lila down and kissed you hard. You drowned out the wolf-whistles, the cheers, and the "Oi get a room!" from Ben. The only thing on your mind was the fact that you were in your man's arms again and you could kiss him properly and not through a cheesy kiss via facetime. You pulled away and rested your forehead against his, Cheshire grins on both of your faces.
Your friends were screaming in joy and even your daughter was clapping in her Auntie Lucy's arms. Rami had a self-satisfied, ear-to-ear smile on his face. You watched the pieces shift and click into place in Joe's brain.
"You brought them out here didn't you?"
Rami shrugged and mischief laced his words as he spoke.
"No idea what you're talking about man."
Joe rolled his eyes, albeit gratefully, and kissed you once again. Picking Lila up, your little family of three hugged tighter than ever before.
"My best girls are back. My best girls are back."
He rolled off of you, both of you panting slightly, only to pull you close to him again.
On the way back to the hotel, Joe listened with rapt attention to Lila as she droned on in scrambled English about her new teddy bear and he looked up and was smiling so big you thought his face would split. That night, while Gwil and Ben babysat her, you and Joe had some much-needed time alone.

This is me on the train to Machynlleth in west Wales yesterday, on my way to meet my friend Gwilym Morus-Baird for a long-planned conversation. Last night, we ate and chatted about fatherhood and myth and the world, and then he and his lovely family left me in a cottage in the Cambrian Wildwood. Today we will be talking about a certain 14th century poem that we both love, and which has a strange power to it that truly defies all reason. We hope to approach the poem in all manner of ways, not to unlock it like a safe, but to honour it like a peculiar and gifted friend. (Actually, we're just here for the good mythic-craic that happens when we meet and this is a good excuse. This is partially true.) Which poem? Well, what if I tell you that last night I dreamed I was with one of my loves in a room which was entirely green (having walked through a crossroads at which my poems were written out on huge sheets that were half-buried in the earth and later having watched one of my neighbours cut the feathers from a dessicated kingfisher...)? What if I tell you that travelling across Wales yesterday afternoon from the Midlands, and as the rain began and the clouds gathered against the hills, I felt like I was traversing the body of an ancient, vast goddess, on a quest of my own which will (hopefully) not involve the cutting off of my head? Yes. That poem. It's going to be a very interesting day. We're filming the conversation. Watch this space. 🌿🪓🏰 💚👹💚

yscolan#24 winter tune school. y porth, llandysul, ceredigion, west wales
Tumblr media
y porth, llandysul, ceredigion, west wales.
20 places maximum
yscolan #24
A weekend of learning tunes from Welsh traditions. The emphasis will be on melody & will cover airs as well as the broad range of dance-tune types from jigs, hornpipes & reels; marches and minuets; to other forms including triple time tunes such as hop jigs, slip jigs, 3/2 polkas, 3/2 reels, & 3/2 hornpipes.
Ceri will be teaching a neglected repertoire by ear. No sheet music will be supplied, but students are encouraged to bring their own recording devices, including manuscript.
The weekend is open to any type of melody instrument, and the ability to pick up a tune by ear is a minimum requirement. Players will not be graded into beginners, intermediate etc., and we will learn together at our own different pace. Slow and fast learners will deal with different practical problems together. For example, faster learners will look at phrasing, rhythmic nuance, improvisation etc., while slower learners will deal with landing points in the tunes, and how rhythm and melody coincide. We all learn from each other’s different ways. The aim will be to play together as much as possible and to broaden our tune repertoire. There are ample opportunities for informal tune playing together, swapping tunes or songs, sessions, jamming, chatting, philosophising etc., in the evenings and throughout the day. It’s not all work and participants can use the time as they see fit, including taking advantage of the proximity of the river Teifi, mooching around the town and environs, visiting the nearby woollen mills, or extending their visit to take in the coast at Llangrannog or Cwmtydu, some 25 miles away.
Unlike the annual summer school in Tremarchog, food and camping will not be provided at the winter school in Llandysul. This is reflected in the reduced fee of £100 which covers all tuition.
All activities will take place in Y Porth, Llandysul. We will use the large, private function room, which overlooks the river for all teaching sessions. It is a bright, warm, airy, comfortable space. Evening sessions will take place by the fireside in the bar, or in the function room, as we please.
For further details, please write to [email protected] or call 01559 384962
Daily structure Friday Arrive at 12 Mid-day Teaching sessions 2-6 Informal session in the bar 8-11
Saturday Teaching Session 10-1 Guest Tutor Teaching session 3-6 Informal session in the bar 8-11
Sunday Teaching session 10-12 Guest Tutor
This yscolan#24 will include a guest tutor who will lead the Saturday afternoon session for those interested. The session will explore deeper aspects of these more generally touched on in the regular sessions. To reflect the deep and strong song traditions of Dyffryn Teifi specifically and south Cardiganshire in general, Julie Murphy will look into the repertory of the area, its history and some of the different forms used in the tradition.
For others who don’t wish to attend the specific subject of the guest tutor, I will be taking a tune class as usual.
Location
Llandysul is a small, bustling town on the northern bank of the river Teifi in south Cardiganshire. It is a stronghold of Welsh language and culture, historically and up to the present day. The area is famous for salmon and sewin fishing. Gomer Press (now relocated to the edge of the town) was once situated in the middle of the town and is one of Wales’ most important and influential publishers. The original building is now a cafe. Other literary connections include Unitarian minister and poet Gwilym Marles, great-uncle to Dylan Thomas, who built a library (Myfyrgell) on Rhiw Seion. Dewi Emrys the poet spent his later years in nearby Talgarreg. The riverside church dates to the 12th Century. The woollen industry’s historical importance is reflected in the number of woollen mills abounding locally. The National Wool Museum is located some 10 miles away, in Drefach Felindre. The river Teifi describes an arc around the town in a wide bow edged with water meadows and playing fields on one bank and steep woodland on the other, culminating in a white water tumble downstream of the bridge. There is a riverside walk along the entire length.
Y Porth is a traditional Victorian hotel that has a long standing association with salmon and sewin fishing. It stands on the site of an older tavern, in all likelihood a medieval pilgrim’s Inn called Troed Rhiw’r Clochdy. It is a family owned hotel that has been in the family three generations and is at the heart of the town.
Accommodation and Food
We are unable to offer accommodation as part of the weekend and ask you to make your own arrangements. We will try to help in any way, with recommendations, inquiries and so on. The town and environs are blessed with many different kinds of accommodation to suit any budget, from camping and caravanning, glamping, hostels, through bunkhouses to guesthouses, traditional b&b or holiday lets.
Y Porth has seven en suite rooms available, comprising single, double, twin and family rooms, and early booking is recommended. Should you wish to share a twin room with another attendee, we can liaise between yourselves and Y Porth. For more info on Y Porth: porthhotel.co.uk
Unlike the annual summer school in Tremarchog, we can’t offer food as part of the weekend. However, there are many choices in Llandysul to suit every pocket, including a chip shop, Indian and Chinese takeaway, pub grub, Portuguese tapas; also a tea room, cafes and shops in the daytime. The Spar sells cold snacks and is open till late, and CK’s supermarket sells hot snacks, also open till late. If you choose to stay in a bunkhouse, there are plenty of places to buy food to do your own cooking.
Finally, Y Porth has a restaurant at reasonable prices that reflect the excellent, local, home cooked food on offer.
On Sunday, Y Porth offers two course Cino Dydd Sul / Sunday Lunch for around £17.50, or three courses for £21.50. If there is enough interest, we can arrange a group booking as a kind of farewell meal for those who would like.
Cost
The cost of the Llandysul yscolan tune school is £100 per person to cover all tuition fees.
