Throwback to a good friend's wedding a couple years back. She asked us to dress traditionally Austrian (or at least inspired). My look read hobbit-esque mori kei because I'm still me. You had everything from very traditional looking dirndl to very flashy cheep looking ones.

Everything handmade by me expect the maroon knit jacket. (vest, blouse, skirt, apron, underskirt and bloomers are handmade by me). The crocheted gold shawl was a handmade present from an old friend of my mum to my mum and she gave me the shawl because I love it so much. The handbag was embroidered by my mum and was either a present for my grandma or my grandma's sister (and came back to us when they died).

Ya’ll I literally made this corset/dirndl belt! I DID! LOL! I was inspired from this girl I follow on IG and just kinda wanted to challenge myself in recreating this piece. Literally my impulsive self jumped onto this project and I hand sewed everything and just finished adding the grommets! Although it’s not as perfect as it would be with a sewing machine (I don’t have one obviously) I’m pretty proud of myself lol.

Obviously there needs to be some adjustments and some things I would definitely do differently but coming from someone who has never sewn anything in her life, just started the past few months or so, yeah I’m kinda proud haha! Also this is just a test run so I’m ready to make another one to actually wear out! (:

Just wanted to share the antique Konig & Wernicke (K & W) Doll I’ve been working on for my friend, Leona. For authenticity, we chose the blonde option for her hair which I then restyled into pigtails. In honor of Leona’s German mother (the original owner) I handmade a traditional Bavarian costume complete with festive dirndl, lace up vest, embroidered apron and red shoes. My dirndl turned out too big and sometimes slips down and shows my bra. I have been struggling to figure out what to do about it for a few years. I don't want to take out the zipper or sleeves to take it in, and then have to redo the zipper or sleeves! I finally made a handkerchief from the 1700s! I struggle to call it a handkerchief instead of a kerchief, but handkerchief originally meant the kerchief that goes around your head and not the tiny one for blowing your nose that goes in your hand, and this was called a handkerchief in the 1700s. It is a triangle that is half of a square yard of linen. I attached the lace with a rolled hem by hand all the way around, it took me three days. I did the lace all the way around so that I can wear this handkerchief in other ways if I want to, though I have no plans to do that right now.
