I had this post in my drafts about how I’m completely at peace with the fact that Anders and Fenris never get along in canon. Like, I’ll write fics where they met under different circumstances, or were supported enough to feel like the other’s experiences were less of an attack on their personal identities, or were otherwise given external reasons to bury the hatchet. But in terms of the canon game, I think it did a very good job of highlighting the similarities between the characters while just- letting them trigger the fuck out of each other. Of course they’re not going to find the mental energy to be understanding with someone who rubs them this far the wrong way when they have to do it living the incredible stress of being both scrutinised by society at large and actively hunted. And I think that’s more powerful than anything else canon could have possibly said about them.

But then someone else made a surprisingly similar post and I went into the tags looking for other fenders shippers that reblogged it and, lmao, that did not go well for me. I feel like this was pretty predictable in retrospect. People who think they shouldn’t have gotten along in canon don’t wanna think about them being friends or kissing makes a certain kind of sense. But I feel a bit at a loss. I think the easiest way I can explain it is I like the ship bc I found the canon Anders-Fenris relationship narratively satisfying. So satisfying it was in many ways more interesting and revealing than their relationship with Hawke. Like- I definitely learned things about them from their Hawkemances. Like the kind of things they want from a relationship and the kind of devotion they want to express to another person and how. Or that they’re so desperate for Lord Amell’s affection and approval and help they’ll lie like there’s no tomorrow to get it. But, yeah, I definitely wouldn’t call either canon romance narratively satisfying in the same way Anders and Fenris hating each other and never getting along in canon precisely because they have each other’s number down perfectly was absolutely fucking delicious. And that makes me want to poke at them and examine them from all angles and test the lengths that I have to go to radically change the quality of their relationship in a way I wouldn’t with just any pair of characters.

they were almost my canon hawkemance actually, I think they would suit each other really well! the reason I didn't go for it is because Ursula almost sees her in the same light she views Bethany in, like the Older Sister Protective Instinct kicks in and I don't think she'd be able to really get past that to pursue something romantic.

you've unlocked secret bearsizedant oc lore!! these 2 actually do get together in the event of there actually being an 8-year timeskip between da3 and da4. i would imagine it happens like maybe between a year to a couple months before da4 starts. I don't know how they would've worked out as a couple in just the base game timeline, though. Athene has a lot of..... trust issues? concerning humans around that time and only really starts to make progress on it later.

Po světové  premiéře na letošním Mezinárodním filmovém festivalu v Benátkách a uvedení v Čechách vyráží Nabarvené ptáče Václava Marhoula na festivaly po celém světě. Film, který má na svém kontě po dvou týdnech v českých kinech přes 55 tisíc diváků, získal také amerického distributora – IFC Films.

Na začátku září překvapil Václav Marhoul svým černobílým snímkem v italských Benátkách, v druhém zářijovém týdnu velkolepou premiérou v Praze a hned poté se film vydal na cestu po zahraničních festivalech. Momentálně má za sebou uvedení v rámci Mezinárodního filmového festivalu v Torontu, v ruském Petrohradu i dalším významném severoamerickém filmovém festivalu v kanadského Vancouveru.

Režisér a producent Václav Marhoul mezitím každý den objíždí kina v českých a moravských městech, kde se účastní besed, autogramiád a po projekcích filmu, který

Česká filmová a televizní akademie vyslala do boje o účast v 92. ročníku amerických filmových cen Oscar, diskutuje s diváky. Těch na film dorazilo k dnešnímu dni přes 55 tisíc.

  Že je o film i v zahraničí mimořádný zájem svědčí nejen další pozvání z festivalů ve Velké Británii, Lucembursku, Turecku, Německu, Polsku, Brazílii, Japonsku, Řecku, Irsku, Španělsku, na Ukrajině či v Egyptě. V USA, Bělorusku nebo Indii jde dokonce o soutěžní sekce. Film totiž získal také svého amerického distributora, společnost IFC Films z New Yorku, která je přední distribuční společností nezávislých filmů a má za sebou uvedení takových snímků, jako Chlapectví, Ztratili jsme Stalina nebo Antikrist.

Distribuční společnost IFC Films, která je sesterskou společností Sundance Selects a IFC Midnight a je vlastněna společností AMC Networks Inc., spolupracovala v minulosti např. se Stevenem Soderberghem, Gusem Van Santem, Spikem Lee, Richardem Linklaterem, Larsem von Trierem, Paulem Dano, Claudem Chabrolem, Noahem Baumbachem, Ethanem Hawkem a mnoha dalšími.

  Realizace filmu Nabarvené ptáče zabrala 100 filmovacích dnů během šestnácti měsíců v celkem 43 lokacích na Ukrajině, Slovensku, v Polsku a Česku. Poslední, v pořadí  3 531. klapka padla 5. července 2018. Kameraman Vladimír Smutný natáčel na černobílý 35 mm negativ ve formátu Cinemascope. Ve filmu se vedle hlavní role, kterou ztvárnil Petr Kotlár z Českého Krumlova, objevilo mezinárodní herecké obsazení v čele s hvězdami jako jsou Harvey Keitel, Stellan Skarsgård, Udo Kier, Julian Sands či Barry Pepper. Další postavy si zahráli Tim Kalkhof, Alla Sokolova, Aleksej Kravčenko, Lech Dyblik, Júlia Valentová, Martin Nahálka, Jitka Čvančarová, Radim Fiala nebo Petr Vaněk.

  Nabarvené ptáče

Ve snaze uchránit své dítě před masovým vyhlazováním Židů, rodiče posílají syna k příbuzné na venkov kdesi ve východní Evropě. Chlapcova teta však nečekaně umírá a tak je dítě nuceno vydat se na cestu a protloukat se úplně samo divokým a nepřátelským světem, ve kterém platí jen místní pravidla, předsudky a pověry. Jeho snahu o doslovné fyzické přežití ale po válce střídá jiný boj. Boj, kterého si ani není vědom, boj sama se sebou, boj o svou duši, o svojí budoucnost…  

  Václav Marhoul

Nabarvené ptáče je třetím celovečerním filmem, pod kterým je Václav Marhoul (1960, Praha) podepsán coby scenárista, producent a režisér. Předcházející filmy Mazaný Filip (2003) a především Tobruk (2008) získaly četná domácí i mezinárodní ocenění, včetně Českých lvů. Produkčně se podílel na snímcích Pražská pětka (1989) a Kouř (1990), jako producent pak na filmu Postel (1998). Václav Marhoul je absolventem FAMU, obor produkce, postupně pracoval pro Českou televizi, Krátký film, ve Filmovém Studiu AB Barrandov začínal jako asistent produkce, aby se pak v letech 1990–1997 stal jeho generálním ředitelem. V roce 1997 založil vlastní společnost Silver Screen s.r.o., jejíž náplní je především výroba celovečerních filmů a organizování akcí v oblasti divadla a výtvarného umění.

i don’t actually have a solid opinion on whether Danarius and Fenris’s relationship was romantic/sexual vs entirely platonic in canon. What Fenris says during the Hawkemance about never having done this before could imo be anything from an upfront assertion (he’s never had sex insofar as he remembers with his amnesia) to a slight misdirection (he’s never had an encounter like this as a free person) to a boldfaced lie (the way he lies about Danarius wanting to skin him for lyrium). But I do think Danarius making it so he’s the only person who Fenris has any emotional connection to at all is enough to precipitate the kind of strong devotion Fenris displayed with or without a sexual component. And I don’t think, like, Fenris’s story is meaningfully less bad or less traumatic if the gaslighting and medical abuse didn’t also come with rape. It’s horrible no matter how you spin it.

But that being said, Varania showing up and telling Fenris he actually asked for [the brands] and therefore had it coming and had it good- And Fenris immediately going on a monologue about how magic has touched him everywhere and permeated his soul and he’ll never be clean- It really does just read directly like Varania’s thumping directly from the rape apologism playbook and Fenris is taking it badly. So it doesn’t seem like it’s the wrong decision to make the metaphor less of a metaphor and more of what actually happened.
