Day 4 (Day 3 was a rest day), post workout proof to follow…True accountability comes from being honest about where you are today…this picture is from this morning, it is more bold than what I normally post and does not provide any optical illusions about my true physical condition (which camera angles and room lighting often provide). I am 10-15 pounds (depending on the day) above where I was late spring/summer of 2021…and still well over 40 pounds below where I started at the beginning of 2021, but since I am being honest, I am not at all where I want to be. This is a journey, is about health, is balancing the joys in life, being active, and about always trying to be a better version of myself. I can do hard things
Sometimes my mind makes things out to be more difficult than they are. It’s like looking at the scary shadow of something until you’re able to fumble through the dark and find the light switch. Then you realize it was just a coat rack and your pet casting some wild looking shadows. For me surpassing the mental hurdle I put up in my mind is the hardest part. I’m so ready to avoid discomfort that I build these emotional barricades around tasks I should do.
For me I like walking and wouldn’t mind running eventually but I also really dislike strangers looking at me while exercising. I start thinking of what commentary might be running through their mind and it distracts me thinking how hideous I must present in my current state.
I found music was good way to get around that hurdle. But then I made a new hurdle of worrying what if I can’t hear any dangers around me if I’m out walking with my music on and Im zoned out?
I have to have these like little pep talks to myself and squash the excuses I keep telling myself. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable when improving yourself.
I guess I’m too stuck in my own headspace sometimes.

Health Diary 018
Well, hi. A lot has changed. TW: weight gain/loss, relapse, balance
I’ve gained 12 lbs, and then lost it… in a healthy way. Now I didn’t lose it over a couple of months, but over like… 8 months. Past me would have laughed at that progress and given up or swung the pendulum in the opposite direction. I lost my job, lost access to my therapist, and picked up a lot of new hobbies while job hunting. I’m working hard on focusing on what is really helpful for me.
I’m pole dancing again, and I’m getting stronger every week. I can see my body toning up and firming up. Even though I still have days where I’m not happy with my extra fat deposits impacting my progress on the pole or how I feel in certain clothes… I can feel my confidence raising and my acceptance of being where I’m at as just being. Rather than faking “happy” for where I’m at, I just am. Almost like a date. Today is a day in August. Sometimes I catch myself tracking weight progress 3, 6 or 9 months out. But fact of the matter is, I can’t see that far out. I can let my app track my average weight, and take breaks if I feel like I’m being overwhelmed by triggers.
I have had moments of relapse, with both ED and general thoughts, and sometimes they seem really loud. But I’ve been practicing telling my husband about the thoughts, some triggers, and how they have/had impacted my thoughts, and how now I’m working on letting them pass. Removing the power they have, and letting them just exist and move on. It’s tricky to separate yourself from these thoughts when you need to lose weight for your health and physical goals. But this time… I’m focusing on doing things that will help me get stronger and feel more confident. The weight loss is truly secondary (most of the time… and that’s okay). I’m not perfect!

Day One

This is a hard picture for me to look at, and even harder to post. This is 275 lbs.
 For the longest time, I didn’t think it had gotten that bad. I was a little heavy, sure. I’d look at the number on the scale and think “this is only temporary”. I’d watch an episode of The Simpsons and Homer would get on the scale and the joke would be such a HIGH number and I’d think... well I weigh more than that, why is that funny?
I get winded walking around my apartment now. When did that happen? I look at a set of stairs and wince because I know how hard and fast my heart is going to be beating once I get to the top - and it scares me.
It’s time to make a change. I refuse to live like this anymore. I don’t recognize this person. I am tired of being tired. Everyone says that! I understand why.
I’m probably going to beat myself up for not being perfect, but my therapist says that as long as I do my BEST every day - whatever that means for me - then it counts. I’m going to try to work on that.
Thanks for letting me post this journey on the internet. I feel like if it’s out there, I’m not doing it on my own.
Goals:
Close my Apple Watch rings every day. 700/30/12
Monitor calorie intake (this is only because right now I struggle with recognizing how much I am actually eating! I hope that this will change because it’s tedious and I hate it)
Drink 2 Liters of water/day
