making Hamlet fanart in 2024, slapping Juicy (main hero of Fat Ham, a modern play, Hamlet version, played by black fat queer person) on char design i saw in old b&w film while listening MCR playlist was an experience
highly recommend. also pls watch/read Fat Ham upd: image description added! (in alt text, but also under the cut)
(Image Description: List of sketches with 3 drawings. The textures used here are elegant looks-like photo silk (for clothes), soft shades and gradients. Shapes are sinking in each other depth. No color, black and white
It's fanart depicting Hamlet character being combination of different versions of him from different media: fat black queer masculine person being elegant, wearing mascara and lipstick (took from modern play Fat Ham) wearing vintage royal clothes (took from old classic film). The narrative of sketches also mixed of modern play (Fat Ham) and classic one
There are 3 sketches:
First one. It's the character described above (TC in text further) sitting in side view. His eyes is closed and face has melancholic emotion. TC is holding a scull. There is a simple-shaped silhouette of crown above his head. This image represent classic play melancholic vibes of character fused with modern play appearance
Second sketch. It's TC singing, while holding white pigeon in hands. It had previous classic-modern fusion vibes + a little vibe of disney princess song (because of bird and emotion expression similar to disney musicals). By left side of this sketch is stylized speech babble with music notes symbols and deformed text, visualization of singing. The text saying: "I want a perfect body", quoting singing of TC from modern play. By the right side of sketch there is arrow pointing at character with text "has most perfect body ever".
Sketch Three. It's dynamic sketch of TC in a duel (opponent is out of the frame), waving a thin sword (idk how it in eng, in my first it's шпага, a sword but specific type of it). From the chest of TC it's going steam, like character is heated mechanism pushed to limits. The face of TC is strong and determined, with mouth wide open trying to catch breath. Near this sketch is text: (text starts here) "He is fat and scant of breath" - original play quote. i know Fat Ham message. this one [the sketch with duel] here for slay jpeg reason (text ends here).
End of Image description)

soooo! I thought for a long time what photo to choose, I really wanted the one where they kiss, but since I'm from russia, it's just dangerous to do that here. so when the official account posted this one, I thought that this is it! you can see their guitars (i really wanted them visible on tattoo) and they are hugging 🥺
also i considered photo from MT, but with all my love for the chicken coat, I wouldn't want to see it on me for the rest of my life 😆😆
sooo, yeah, now they're with me forever 🖤
I love them so much 🥺🥺
unfortunately I have hives and my arm is very swollen and I couldn't get a super nice photo. when the swelling goes down and it heals, I'll take another photo but im pretty happy with the results 🥺🖤
i'm just a little shocked that I really did it and I can't believe it's real 😆

On Step by Step and cups of tea
I'm going to have to tack on to @lurkingshan's post about Pat, because of her
I am really struggling with Pat’s character
I'm struggling too, and how. I have moments where I like him quite a lot, but I have far more moments where I want to smack him upside the head, and suddenly it hit me what my problem with him is.
You know the Camp and Chaotic side character archetype in BL, yes? He's messy, he's often loud, when he gets drunk he dances like a maniac and then dissolves into sobbing, his motivation is often unclear and he may seem undecided and wibbly, he's often looking for love in the wrong places (but he may find true love!).
His role is to prod the main characters' action in the direction of getting together - sometimes as a common frenemy or even enemy, sometimes as a member of one character's Overly Invested Friends Group. He acts as a foil now and then, but more often he's given the less odious comic relief function. He's not always actually important to the main characters themselves, but acts as a general mood lightener in between heavier scenes. Often he casts in relief the main characters' struggles with being in love and with dealing with their own emotions, as he's also unapologetically gay.
Green in 2gether is a good example of this archetype.
Tumblr media
... this archetype is not my cup of tea.
And Pat is one.
No, hear me out, please - Pat is the Camp and Chaotic archetype but he's placed centre stage. We get all of his story, not just the mess and the wisdom nuggets the archetype often gets to deliver to nudge the main along. We get his quiet moments and his worries, too.
In principle, I'm all for this. I like that the camp archetype gets to be rounded, gets to be in the limelight, because he deserves it just as much as the rest of the character types.
But among other people, and in his general patterns of behaviour? I definitely see Pat as a C&C. He has limited self control (how many times has he embarrassed himself while drunk now?) and does he ever make messes. Pat is out, and he finds a great friend in Chot (who's not this archetype, he's far too calm and collected, he's the Femme Gay Friend). Pat's role isn't to nudge others along, but to learn and grow and eventually find love, helped by side characters, sure, but he's an ungodly mess a lot of the time.
And here he is, moderately camp but chaotic and emotional, all eyes are on him and he's not faffing about in the wings jolting the story when needed.
However, the C&C isn't for me. I like soft, deep voices and calm behaviour, or flat out anger and violence. I cover my ears when this archetype gets loud and I wince when they get particularly messy. I'm not clamouring for their extinction, but they're not my cup of tea and it's dawning on me that this is why I'm not really interested in Pat's journey or his love life.
It's really great that I adore Jeng and am invested in his part of the story, then...

Explanation(Mental Issues+Questions) Under cut:
”Man do you think if I was a transformer I’d be a triple changer like Blitzwing?”
“Oh yeah cause those ones are really cool right?”
“heh”
“it-its because theyre just really cool right?”
*Cue flashback* ”Hey guys do you ever feel like you’re multiple people in one body but not in a DID way, like in a way where my personality changes so rapidly it’s like I’m different people. And I remember everything I do but my mind and mood change so suddenly. But like I refer to myself as We sometimes in a plural but not plural way- And sometimes it feel like there are multiple thought processes going on in my head Do you guys ever feel like that?”
“NO????”

I had the opportunity to try Gillian's g-spot drinks while I was in England and so I did.
I promised myself that I would go into it unbiased and judge it fairly. Disclaimer: We all like different things! Me reviewing the flavors is just how I see (read: taste) them. My control group was my friend who tried each flavor as well.
Tumblr media
Read my thoughts under the cut!
All three beverages are based on sparkling water and apple juice. Each has a different blend of herbal extracts. Now, I'm no expert, but for the most part, those other ingredients are used in very small doses. So really, in order for the nootropics and adaptogens to have any effect, you would have to drink more than one or two cans per day - and over a longer period as well.
The brand says that they "lie somewhere between a purist health drink that claims to change your life, and a mainstream soda brand that wants you hooked." That is one hell of a claim. Personally, I'm not sure how mainstream a beverage that costs £3,50 per can (0,33 l) can be.
The first one I tried was "Soothe". It's supposed to "calm your mind", according to the can, and has magnesium, maca, reishi, and ashwagandha as its ingredients. I had no idea what to expect and I can say in all honesty, I did not like the taste at all. My friend said it tastes like drinking medicine. To me, it tastes like sparkling cough syrup. It's because of the sage but also the slightly woody and bitter taste of the reishi.
Now let's move on to my taste test:
Tumblr media
My next one was "Protect". That one uses ginger, turmeric, chaga and peppercorn, which I must admit sounded interesting to me. Well. What can I say? It tasted way better than "Soothe", but you must absolutely like the taste of ginger. My friend doesn't and said this one tastes even more like medicine.
The aftertaste was the worst. It would just not go away. I don't know if sage as a cure for anything related to colds and coughs is a German thing and that's we reacted so strongly to it. Anyway, I liked this one so little that I didn't dare to try the next one for another two days.
Tumblr media
I saved the best for last: "Lift". From the few things I've read online, most people seemed to prefer this one. The ingredients here include bacopa, theanine, cordyceps, and lion's mane in addition to berries and peppercorn. I really liked this one because it's actually refreshing.
The aftertaste is not as insistent and quite nice with the gentle spiciness of the peppercorn and the turmeric. As I kept drinking it, I understood what my friend meant by saying it tastes like medicine though. Drinking the whole can was a struggle because the ingredients just get too much at some point.
Tumblr media
Like "Protect", it's a bit spicy, but it works way better here with the berries. Though I must admit that I couldn't really taste the berries as well as I would have liked. As much as I liked this one, it's not something I would want to drink daily. Like the other flavors, this one, too, has several ingredients that taste bitter and/or earthy, like bacopa and lion's mane. It's just not my thing. My friend agreed that this was the best one, but she was like, one sip of this is enough.
Conclusion:
Oooof. I speculated with a friend (not the one who did the tasting with me!) what these would taste like and we originally thought it would taste like sparkling apple juice with some flavor. I don't know if it's a thing anywhere else, but Apfelschorle (sparkling apple juice) is a huge deal here and really, really tasty.
I didn't expect the bitterness and earthiness to be so prominent in the taste, to be honest. All in all, I expected more from these drinks- Especially at that price. None of these were so good that I was like, I want more. Maybe they are good for my health - though that's quite a claim - but so is water. And maybe the sparkling, flavored water you can buy at Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's isn't as healthy (but it might be?), but it tastes much better. It's way cheaper, too.
All that aside, I'm still not sure what to think of the whole brand and the idea behind it. One thing, in particular, I'm missing is information about how the ingredients are sourced. Cordyceps, Lion's Mane, Reishi, etc. aren't exactly ingredients you can get everywhere.
Anyway, that's it from me!

I was thinking of what would be the language equivalent for languages that are spoken in Hallownest so there are my headcannons.
Common Hallownest-It would probably be British English or something else IDK
Weaver Tongue- sounds Russian or could be any Slavic languages.
Man-ty(language for the Manis Tribe but name still work in progress)- Afrikaans 100%
Lightling(language spoken by moths)-Maybe sounds like High Valyria from GOT or HOTD. But this one was a bit hard to pick out.
Mossish(spoken by mosskin)- I imagine it would sound a bit like Dovahzul which is the made up language in Skyrim.
Antling- I imagine it would be Portuguese or Spanish. No clue why but that's my head canon.
