a lot of Midorima’s idk “meanness” feels very performative. most of the time when he’s being a blunt jerk he’s also surrounded by multiple people, or he’s with a stranger, or someone he deems unsafe—for lack of a better term. I just think it’s interesting how he drops the attitude (while still having a dry humor) when talking one-on-one (ie takao, kuroko, kise)

Uh oh Adam, full trailer’s out. Give us the text wall or give us death! (/positive, love reading and learning from folks like you)
Honestly i’m not surprised, i even predicted the half assed feathers, and i’m not saying that to boast myself as much as to say that it was insanely predictible, both in how they’d try to bait people who want more accurate dinosaurs in media, and in how dreadful the result looked.
What wasn’t so predictible, albeit not too surprising if i’m being honest, is the paleo community’s piss poor handling of that. A lot of people are cheering for that pile of garbage and it’s honestly weird as hell when the only decent-looking design in there is Quetzalcoatlus.
Tumblr media
^ Even with the pointed wing tips and occasional weird bipedal stance it looks decent, my only complaint is that the eyes are weirdly placed and it makes it look like a theropod.
Trevorrow isn’t a child or an amateur paleoartist, he’s the director of a movie working with a LOT of money, complimenting a cheap lizard-faced half naked maniraptoran in the year 2022 just because it has wings is not doing someone any good, if JW truly wanted to do an effort, then all the creature designers would have been paleoartists.
In fact i’d argue that giving this movie any credit is only encouraging journalists to go even more ham about how accurate Dominion is, since even some paleontologists have given it the “you tried” star treatment.
The designs alone (and they ARE terrible) aren’t even the only issue here, the context of the scenes which design was show only makes it worse, not to mention how desperatly tropey and inconsistent the movie’s currently known lore in itself is.
Note how the feathered dinosaurs are treated in the trailers we’ve seen them appear in so far:
- In the cretaceous scene, the Tyrannosaurus is briefly seen feathered, this is before it is killed by a kaiju covered in croc plates.
Tumblr media
- The only hybrid (Regular, not chimera) dinosaur that is extensively feathered is shown in the snow, despite the real animal’s habitat being a hot archipelago, and the hybrid itself being ass out.
Tumblr media
So we got feathered dinosaurs being implicitely shown as weaker than a very innaccurate monstrous one, and we got “feathered dinosaur lives in cold climate”. Good shit, truly it is woth praising as an effort and we should all say thank you to mister Jurassic World.(/s)
Oh, by the way, the artificial Pyroraptor has wings, but the supposedly actual Cretaceous Oviraptor doesn’t, and it also has pronated hands.
Tumblr media
Yay for consistency.(/s)
Honestly i’m gonna go on a limb and say that they only chose Pyroraptor for the name, because it lacks anything that tells us that it is Pyroraptor, since, pretty much the only thing we know for sure about it is that it was Tiny, about the size of a cat, which JW instead trades for something closer to a Deinonychus in terms of size. And yes i am aware that JP/JW oversizes dromaeosaurs, but when “Bitch’s small” is the only thing known about a dinosaur, then maybe that’s your call to not use it if you want a larger animal.
I’ve actually had this reply in the works for a while now because i’m honestly so upset about Dominion butchering my favorite dinosaur, and making it mainstream in the worst way possible, that i’ve been learning to use Blender properly within the span of a few weeks all for the sake of making my own Pyroraptor, and i wanted to get to a point where i had a decent WIP to show. (this should hopefully be made into an ARK mod eventually, hence the stylisation of the snout scales and head size)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rant about Pyroraptor and shameless plug of my own art aside, the other designs, as i mentioned, with the exception of Quetzalcoatlus, are honestly very bad too.
I’ve mentioned the Oviraptor, it’s fully feathered, with a pretty tail, and yet does not have wings and has broken hands. It’s also shown eating eggs, i don’t think i need to explain why this was a stupid decision.
The Atrociraptors are just edgier raptors with a Megalosaurus head and unnecessary accent scales. That’s it, that’s all they are, they just wanted more monstrous raptors.
Tumblr media
Funny enough the Therizinosaurus got the Baryonyx treatment of Mattel making a toy that looks better than the movie’s design.
Tumblr media
At least the Toy has long claws....
I suspect that beyond random toy designers somehow being more knowledgeable about dinosaur anatomy than the JW creature designers, this also has to do with JW’s designs not even really fitting a live action setting. Most of JW’s prominently featured dinosaurs have this toy quality to them, which comes out very weird in the movies, and honeslty kind of feels like the dinosaurs were made to be easy to turn into toys, which wouldn’t be surprising considering the wole franchise, in itself, is a cashgrab.
In fact, they do look far more fitting aesthetically in Camp Cretaceous, a cartoon with a stylized artstyle that fits those designs much better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also while we’re talking about aesthetic appeal.... Can we talk about how they put basically the same head on the Giganotosaurus and the Pyroraptor ?
Tumblr media
And honestly i don’t even want to talk about what they did to Dilohosaurus, they could have at least had the decency to make the scene darker so the awkwardness of that thing wouldn’t be quite as bad.

Hello! I have always believed that Michael needed better doctors and good treatment. He was simply billed as "Evil". Sometimes I think that at that time they were unaware or ignorant of mental illness, and that is why Michael did not recover. I wish it had been treated better. I would like to know your opinion about it ;v;
Oh, absolutely. Michael is a very tragic character, and what happened to him was almost entirely Loomis’ fault, secondarily the system and his parents’, and like onyl 0.8% his own. It’s true that mental health aid has historically been really bad in most places, and even today treatment and acceptance—even in specifically medical settings—tend to be abysmal. Of course people knew less than they do now about how psychological stuff works, but bias, cruelty, and superstition as well as a system that enables and even to degrees outright encourages that is to blame for the awful treatment people woth mental illnesses and personality disorders faced and continue to face, not just a lack of knowledge, and the history is really heavy and awful to look over. : ( It’s horrific some of the things doctors have done and do to people just trying to get help.
Like, in Michael’s case, we’ve had a name and understanding of psychosis since the 1800s. Canonically, by the time the poor kid was six years old, he was hearing voices telling him to do bad things to people. He told his parents, seeking help, and they did nothing to help him—just told him it was his imagination—despite knowing hos grandfather had suffered the same symptoms. If they had only taken him seriously and given him therapy and possibly medication too, Judith never would have died. (I am not goong to say it every time, but all this information is official canon) Michael’s reason for killing his family members is wanting the vocies talking to him to be quiet, because it’s agonizing. If you’ve ever had intrusive thoughts (stuff like “pull into oncoming traffic” or “break that and see what happens” and such that don’t actually compell or force you to do it at all, and are always things you as a person deeply do not want to do, but nevertheless are really annoying or distressing to hear in your head), imagine that cranked up to 1000, endless and constant, but from voices that seem to come from around you instead of in your head. Especially as a young child, with no understanding what is happening to you, this would be incredibly scary and distressing—doubly so when dismissed by your parents, whose sole job is supposed to be to love and protect you.
The voices say they’ll be quiet if Michael kills Judith, so Halloween night, he does. Important to note here Michael is recently six years old at the time, which developmental psych literally is not old enough to have a complete understanding what death itself is, let alone complex morality. You /cannot/ be evil at six, you simply don’t have a complex enough understanding of right and wrong or of consequence to /be/ evil. Also at this age, usually kids see death as a vague concept, but one that applies to people they don’t know only, not to them and their loved ones. In Halloween 1978, immediately after stabbing Judith, Michael looks away while he keeps doing it, and his breathing speeds up in a scared way. He barely looks at the body, and immediately goes down stairs to wait for his parents—probably for them to fix it—and does nothing to flee or hide what he’s done. He looks traumatized when they take his mask off. (Lots of little notes here like that Judith when she sees him seems annoyed but not very, and when he attacks her, tries to shield herself and call to him to stop, rather than fleeing or fighting back, which [appealing instead of fight or flight] is pretty exclusively something you only would use if attcked by someone you are on good terms with—I mean, Michael is six—if Judith had /tried/ to fight back, no way she would have died—so there’s less than nothing to indicate they had anything but a loving familial sibling relationship. But if I list all these I’m gonna launch into my six page Michael Myers meta so I will speed through the rest.)
Anyway! Sorry, I have many feelings. About...everything. Including Michael for sure. So, immediately after killing Judith, Michael stops talking. He also shows other psychosis and trauma readily recognized side effects, like catatonia, slowed movement. In Halloween 1978c Dr. Loomis claims he tried to treat Michael for eight years, then spent another seven trying to keep him locked up because he realized he was evil. This is a /blatant/ lie, as in film canon Loomis, by Michael’s review hearing I believe four months in? Six or less for sure, I believe it is four. Loomis has /already/ become convinced Michael is a demon in human form, faking his symptoms, and itching to kill again. The other doctors think Loomis is crazy, as does the other doctor who examines Michael, but they’re awful people so they let him stay Michael’s doctor anyway, even though they refuse to move him to Litchfield maximum security. By this time only a few months in, Loomis is canonically also threatening the six year old in his care and constantly telling him he is an evil being who wants to get out and terrorize again. (Also, I will die enraged the sentance Michael gets for killing Judith is to remain locked in solitary in a sanitorium for /15/ years, until he turns 21, at which point he will be tried as an adult for murder??? The fuck?? You CANNOT charge a 6 year old’s crime in adult court! ‘Tried as an adult’ is meant for like, when a 17 year old dismembers their family and eats them! It’s for particularly heinous crimes, committed by someone /very/ close to being legally an adult, and that /only/. The idea of waiting fifteen years to try someone as an adult for something done at age six is laughable and sick).
Okay this is already long, I get carried away rip. Uhhh, anyway, yeah. In Smith’s Grove, Michael is visited by mom and Laurie once, then never sees any of his family again, because his dad hates him and forbids the others—finds out because Laurie is four and talks that they went /one/ time, and physically beats four year old Laurie for mentioning his name until she trauma blocks out ever having had a brother. From then on, Michael spends /fifteen/ years and all the dest of his developmental stages of childhood in a sanitorium with Dr. Loomis—a man who on wild religious superstition grounds assumes by his own admission /on sight/ that Michael is evil, and no other human contact. According to canon, Michael spends at least four hours of /every/ day with Loomis, his /only/ human contact, who threatens him, promises to stop him, and endlessly barrages him with “You’re evil, you’re not human, you want to kill again, I /will/ stop you,” and nothing else. He also canonically keeps Michael overdosed on a type of antipsychotic that, while a fine drug if used normally, if overdosed can deeply worsen symptoms, and can cause permanent brain damage.
Honestly, if a six year old is exposed yo major trauma, none of their issues are explained, legitimized, or believed, and almost all of their developmental stage is spent with endless voices they don’t know the cause of suggesting murder and violence, one human being and authority figure telling them over and over and over for fifteen years with no other constant in their life or human contact period that they are a demon in human form who wants to kill and is /going/ to do so again...? How else was that story ever going to end? I’ve said it before, but that’s beyond conditioning; it’s lab growing a human child to one day walk out and murder Laurie Strode with a large kitchen knife.
I stand by Halloween is a greek tragedy more than a slasher, and Michael and Laurie are both victims. He’s the Asterios, she’s the Ariadne. Loomis the Minos, the real villain. (Or the Poseidon choose your poison).
Anyway, I 100% agree! If he had just gotten help from his parents, Judith would have never died. If he’d had good doctors, none of the events of 1978 would have come to pass, or anything after it. Loomis single-handedly causes the deaths in 1978 himself through years of cruelty, and bigoted bias towards a small child in his care who needed his help, not his abuse, but he chose to break as much as he possibly could despite his responsibilities as a doctor, an adult, and a human.
If you’re interested, I did a canon-deep-dive character study short story on Michael on AO3! Halloween is such a sad story but it’s fascinating. God, poor Michael and Laurie deserved so much better than they got. It’s a testament to Michael’s character that even after 15 years of Dr. Loomis, he really only kills his intented target(s) in search of quiet from the voices, and anyone who sees him/would be a threat, and not other people. Makes no attempt to kill any of the kids in Halloween 2018, and only kills Bob when he literally opens the door to his hiding spot and Michael is found and Bob becomes a threat to him. In H20, after Michael has had 20 years on his own, you get arguably the least brutal Michael, who intentionally passes on killing the mother and child, and the security guard he walks right past, because they don’t see him and thus he doesn’t /have/ to. Halloween II is less intentionally avoiding, but even then he still does the same multiple times too, like with the old lady making a sandwich, or the scene in the incubator room. Anyway he desevered better fuck Loomis all my homies hate Loomis.

Star Trek 2009... so... very mixed.
Let’s do the good first. The cinematography is really good. It FEELS like a futuristic time period moreso than TOS, but tbf the films have the advantage of being closer to modern day and being able to match the evolved times. Still, it’s very much a movie that wanted to look good and did. The acting for most pf the cast was good and I don’t have an issue with any of the reboot cast. No Chris Pine isn’t Shatner (and that’s a good thing) nor is Zachary Quinto Leonard Nimoy. But they and the others did their jobs well and I’m glad they all did their own thing and not just copy their predecessors. Simon Pegg as Scotty I really enjoyed amd I like his new friend XD And while I’m... mixed about the direction taken if only because it makes me sad, Leonard Nimoy returning as the Spock we’ve known or so long was lovely, especially when he and Quinto!Spock meet.
Some moments were good. I actually almost teared up when Kirk’s dad died because the actors just put so much emotion into it. I can’t say that there was no effort put into this. They tried to add emotion and meaning and depth. They tried to give Kirk and Spock (and yes, Bones being even MORE of a third wheel than normal REALLY pisses me off) depth and connect the audiences to them and form that connection with each other that we’re so familiar with. I respect that. I respect the effort. I’ve seen reboots that don’t give a damn, but it didn’t feel that way to me here especially with Nimoy!Spock showing that this may be different, but the original very much still exists.
That being said... I have some big issues, especially with Kirk. This is NOT James Tibirius Kirk. This is the pop culture depiction of Kirk that the filmmakers decided was better to go with than the actual character. And no, this being an alternate timeline and him being younger than in canon is NOT a valid excuse. I got told that the death of Kirk’s dad changed the course of history... but I fail to understand how THAT caused Kirk to be an arrogant, cocky, reckless idiot. Might be because his parents NEVER came up in the show so how can any TOS fans get that point if the show never went into it? I know I joke about Kirk doing something dumb, but TOS!Kirk was a perfectly smart, optimistic, level-headed individual who yeah WOULD go against Starfleet at times, but usually did so with good reason. Hell didn’t TOS say that he was overly serious int he academy amd lightened up as he got older? How did the timeline changes change that? Anyways! It felt like they wanted this Kirk to just be a standard action hero and didn’t bother to check if it fit the characterization, or do anything to justify the change aside from ‘different reality’. Like woth the Kobayashi Maru, it’s to emphasize Kirk’s cockiness here...when in WoK it emphasized Kirk’s optimism and hope. How he NEVER believed that there was a true no-win scenario. There was LWAYS a way. Don’t get me wrong, Kirk isn’t horrible and has the ability to become more like his TOS self, but first impressions are everything, and they failed here. Chris Pine was good though, I could actually picture how he played Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman fitting a Reboot Kirk pretty well but alas. Also his captaincy wasn’t earned nor is he mature enough to hold the position. It got handed to him because canon says so, and that is bullshit.
Spock was... fine. Far as characterization goes I don’t really have any issues. He’s not TOS Spock but again he shouldn’t be. It’s hard for me to find the words on how he’s different aside from being younger and seeming a little more resentful about the half-human, half-Vulcan thing, but it still works well enough. He and Sarek also seem on better terms in this continuity, and that I do like since it’s different, but consideirng the circumstances he needs that kind of solace and it allows exploration of their relationship in a more supportive light. Didn’t like Spock marooning Kirk like he did, but it does connect to his arc showing how emotional repression is affecting him, so ah well. I DO have issues with some of the directions taken though. His relationship with Uhura has no establishment nor development and comes across as being there for the sake of having a romance in there without the work. And no I’m not just saying that as a Spones/Spirk/McSpirk shipper. It WOULD have been fine if they actually WORKED ON DEVELOPING IT ON-SCREEN. And how did the timeline changes cause that when Uhura and him flirted like... once in TOS and it was one-sided on Uhura’s part anyways?! It sucks especially since I really like Reboot Uhura. I also don’t like them destroying Vulcan cause that feels like overkill on the angst, but at least they have an explanation for it. I DO however despise them killing Amanda and ESPECIALLY how they did it. Amanda is relegated tot he standard ‘pure hearted mom who we have to kill to hurt this character’ and considering how she died via a crumbling cliff just as transport started, the ‘changed timeline’ explanation is bull. Again I appreciate them trying to add more character stuff, but I very much disagree with the choices. But as far as the character himself is concerned, I was good with Spock andI did genuinely care for and feel bad for him.
Bones... oh baby you deserved so, SO much better. Characterization wise,he was the most like his TOS self. He comes across as more gruff than cranky, but that’s mainly due to Karl Urban being younger than DeForest Kelley. Otherwise he was funny, endearing, loyal to Jim, and Urban did a lovely job making the character his own but honoring his predecessor. Will also give them credit as Bones has a damn good reason to dislike Spock after he marooned Jim like he did. The film didnt give a damn about McCoy tbh, but we’ll get to that in a bit. But to put it short, I really liked Bones, but he REALLY needed more screentime which from what I can tell, isn’t gonna happen until Beyond. But as far as the character goes, I felt like they got his best though the lack of focus reason may very well be why that is. Very least I got fanon to satisfy my needs.
Now we get to my biggest criticism: The Triumvirate is non-existent here, nor does it form within the film. Again, I blame pop culture depiction as I imagine they went ‘we need Kirk and Spock to be close together and Bones is that guy who is Jim’s other best friend who has witty lines but ain’t Kirk and Spock so who cares?’. Which especially baffles me sonce the arguments Kirk and Spock have regaridng emotion? That’s MCCOY’S role. They got the Kirk and Spock relationship completely and utterly wrong. Nor do I feel like the film dod enough to form the relationship between the two. It just feels like they became friends because the plot said so, not out of genuine understanding and care. Kirk was one of, if not the first to accept Spock for who he was and respect him. That’s what made the relationship special. But their edforts to establish it here just fall flat because they made Kirk Spock’s opposite, aka McCoy’s role. McCoy is the one who challenges Spock. The one who pushes him to consider the emotional. He can be harsh, but it is a dynamic that worked. Kirk os their balance. The one who keeps the two in check and they in turn represented the two sides (mind and heart) that he (the body/soul) needed to make the proper decisions. But because of the choices made with Kirk and Bones, the balance is theown off. Spock is more or less fine but Bones loses his importance while Kirk has his character skewed to make it work. General audiences may not be able to tell, but as someone who just watched all of TOS and those films two weeks ago? I could, and it hurt the film significantly imo. Also kind of wish they emphasized that Spock ALSO needs Bones and the rest of the crew, not just Jim because emphasis on just one relationship ALWAYS annoys me, especially since again, they didn’t do well to form it here to begin with. So yeah they missed the aspect that made me love TOS, so needless to say I am displeased. I plan to do a full film review in the future so I won’t say how I’d improve it, especially since hindsight is 20/20, but yeah not happy.
Otherwise, the film is fine. Uhura, Scotty, Sulu, and Chekov are fine, the former two I especially enjoyed. The plot is fone. Nero is a boring villain but for a start, it’s okay. I didn’t like Vulcan’s destruction at alla nd what that means for Spock, but we’ll see how the other two films continue this. I don’t know how I feel about Prime Spock because it just makes me... depressed that he has to accept never going home (even if Bones and the others are dead it just feels... wrong) but I DO appreciate that they included Nimoy and he was just as fantastic as he had been all those years ago. I have so many problems with characterization and plot points, but tbf that’s from someone who just went through TOS. As far as a general audience goes, they likely won’t have that filter and some may be more of the ‘timeline changed so this stuff changed’ explanation than I, a media consumer who has seen this happen over and over again to varying degrees of success’, may be. Otherwise the film was fine. If you like action and want a blockbuster, this one is for you. But I’m in it for characterization and story and while the latter worked well enough in the general sense,t he former was severely lacking. So while it was okay and it got me excited/to laugh a few tomes, overall I didn’t care for the film. Will Into Darkness be any better? Well... from what I can tell no. But I also need to make my own judgements, so onward we go.

Characteristics They Find Unpleasant (OT7 Headcanon)
[ requested / masterlist ]
a/n :: this is my first ot7 headcanon, so this could go either way. i merged my versions of a headcanon and a reaction to make this request, and i lowkey like it?
Tumblr media
KSJ
in a friend, I think the most unpleasant trait for seokjin would be a lack of humour
this man is our comedy king
and could turn any bad day into a good one with his jokes
and so i think having to spend time with somebody who couldn’t take a joke would be almost painful for him
in terms of a romantic partner, i think someone selfish wouldn’t match with seokjin
obviously no one likes an overly selfish person but
but i think giving a person so many tiny gestures of love and never receiving any back would be too much for him
he deserves so much love
and i honestly don’t think he would put up woth it for too long
shooters for seokjin squad assemble
Tumblr media
MYG
in a friend, i don’t think yoongi would look for someone who is too clingy
yes, yoongi babie and yes, yoongi clingy babie, but for friends who aren’t as close to him as the members, i think being clingy might be pushing it
i can imagine him having a hard time telling somebody to back off too
in a partner, someone who has little common sense or unable to think for themselves
as protective as i imagine yoongi to be over a romantic partner
i also picture him becoming frustrated when you can’t make your own decisions or need help with every single little task
Tumblr media
JHS
in a friend, someone who’s inconsiderate of those around them
hobi is definitely one of the members who looks after others from a distance, but still looks after them
and i think being friends with someone who doesn’t look out for him like he’d look out for them wouldn’t work for too long
eventually he’d catch onto the fact that he wasn’t being looked after, and i think that would break anybody down
in a romantic partner, someone who always wanted extravagance
although he’s our little sunshine
someone who couldn’t have a lazy day or a night in most likely wouldn’t match well with hobi
the amount of hard work he puts in every day, someone who wasn’t willing to just kick back and relax would just physically drain him, maybe even mentally too
Tumblr media
KNJ
in a friend, someone who was too pushy
namjoon seems like someone who liked to take things at his own pace when he isn’t against a schedule
a friend who tries to push their way into his life or get him to do things that he doesn’t willingly want to do would soon annoy him
maybe we’d get a cypher 5 (ahEM)
in a lover, someone who couldn’t see something from two different points of view
or who had incredibly stubborn opinions/closed mind
namjoon is a much deeper thinker than hes ever given himself credit for, and i think a partner who reflects that would work well for him
but someone who couldn’t have a deeper discussion because they believed their own opinion too much would only frustrate him
anyway namjoon marry me
Tumblr media
PJM
in a friend, if you’re not taehyung you’re not valid
no i’m kidding (except i’m not vmin soulmates)
maybe someone who complains a lot
not playfully whines for a laugh but like
someone who is always annoyed at something, and finds an issue with every experience
or can’t enjoy being in the moment
in a lover, honestly somebody who didn’t enjoy skinship
jimin is probably the clingiest member (in a good way i wish he’d cling to me) and seems to enjoy skinship
so somebody who had too much of a personal bubble most likely wouldn’t last long with jimin
therefore i’m volunteering myself to be jimin’s no.1 wife and cuddle buddy
and vmin soulmates
Tumblr media
KTH
i’m sorry but that gif got me some kind of wet
in a friend, someone who couldn’t respect their differences
if he made friends with someone who constantly judged his fashion
or never wanted to visit exhibitions with him
i have no doubt he’d drop them like the new year’s ball
but i think as unbothered as he can seem sometimes, when it comes to friends, he is, in fact, very much bothered
in a lover, someone who always saw the negative in somebody before the positive
taehyung is a genuinely good person and always tries to see the best in people
so dating somebody who was the opposite wouldn’t work for him
being in this dynamic would build a lot of tension between then
tension i don’t think tae would want to have to tolerate
Tumblr media
JJK
in a friend, someone who wouldn’t ever try anything new
whether it be activities or food
this man got some real guts
and is braver than i’ll ever be
sometimes i wonder if there’s anything he wouldn’t try
but being friends with somebody who didn’t share that daredevil vibe or was so closed to anything new
i dont think it would last long honestly
in a lover, somebody who never wanted to do anything
jungkook is one of the most active members and likes to keep busy
so being with somebody who never was willing to go out for an adrenaline rush or just to be outside the house would maybe frustrate him
just join him on a couples zip line onCE
anyway jungkook protection squad assemble
Tumblr media
^ this is the first idea that came to me when i saw your request, i hope it worked! and thank you! i’m so glad you enjoy them <3 thanks for your request

“Aww, I always knew you could be a romantic! How are you hide this from me!” I imagine Louise saying this to baron when setting up a date with Haru for the first time or Louise saying this to Persephone on their first date. Either one basically. Also love your The Bureau Series so amazing!!!!😍😍😍👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍👍👍
A/N: Thank you! This went through several variations and AUs, before I settled on just a generic ficlet, inspired by the date scene out of Thor: The Dark World.
(Human Baron is - as usual - based on @letterstoathens‘ design, because I love floofy Baron! His fashion choices come from the manga, although the polka dot tie turns up in both the manga and WotH.)
x
There was a strange human standing in the Bureau, and Louise could already tell this flying visit was going to evolve into chaos.
She could usually handle chaos. Chaos was the natural state of the universe, after all, especially after she had dropped by, but, even so… Her brother carried a certain kind of chaos that was usually compounded by his own tendencies to overthink and then overreact. If he was lucky, in that order.
As the Bureau doors swung shut behind Louise, the man looked up and she saw bright green - familiar - eyes.
“Humbert?”
He fumbled with the hideous bow tie he was knotting, and jumped like a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar. “Louise?”
Maybe she should have visited before now.
She marched over to the desk he was standing before, and pointedly looked her brother up and down with a raised eyebrow. “What is this?” she asked. “What is going on?Why are you…” she gestured to him in general, “human?”
Humbert hesitated. “Would you believe me if I said this was a mid-life crisis?”
“We’re immortal, Humbert. We don’t have a mid-life to have a crisis over.” She gave him another sweeping look. “At least, you were immortal…”
“It’s a temporary shape-shifting spell, Louise. Just enough for a couple of hours, nothing more dramatic than that.”
“Sure, but why do you even need to be human, unless…” She trailed off, and for the first time, looked beyond his immediate humanness. He wasn’t wearing his usual grey suit, instead opting for a sleeker, more understated black suit, offset by a yellow waistcoat and that awful polka dot bow tie. He had forgone fighting with it, and was now attempting to rein in the new challenge of hair - curly, ginger hair that didn’t behave anything like fur, much to his dismay. His movement was precise and curt, but Louise had known her brother long enough to recognise the undercurrent ebb of nerves. “Are you going on a date?” she demanded.
His hair slipped loose from his grip, and he scowled at her. “How did you even–”
“You are! Oh, this is adorable!”
“Louise–” He cut off as Louise abruptly squeezed his face between her hands.
“You’re in love? With a human? Tell me all about them!Where did you meet them? What are they like? Do they know you’re a Creation? Why didn’t you tell me about this before–?”
Humbert swiped her away, and consciously tucked back the hair that had fallen over his eyes. “I don’t have time for this–”
“What you don’t have time for is for me to not fix up your appearance. I mean, really, when was the last time you went out socially into the Human World? Never mind, that top hat says it all. You want my advice–”
“No.”
“–lose the top hat. And the cane. It’s not 1885 anymore, so unless you’re meeting this human at a renaissance fair, you need to look like you’ve at least heard of the 21st Century.”
Humbert watched, visibly nonplussed, as Louise vanished into the back room and started rootling through his wardrobe.
“So,” she called, “are you going to tell me about this person or not?” She poked her head back out when he didn’t immediately respond. “Oh, don’t sulk. This is exciting! The last time you dated someone, it was called courting and it required a chaperone.”
Humbert glowered, but relented. “Her name is Haru, and we met on a case.”
Louise’s head appeared at the door again. “A client? You’re dating a client?”
“Ex-client,” Humbert stressed. “And, technically, we’re not dating.”
“But you want to.”
“Would you let me finish?”
“Sorry.”
Humbert took a steadying breath, and Louise mentally upped the nervous level she had originally pegged her brother at. “It was… years ago. At least a decade. She rescued a cat who turned out to be the prince of the Cat Kingdom, and had to come to us for help when the Cat Kingdom took it upon themselves to thank her.”
“It doesn’t sound that bad.”
“They kidnapped her and tried to marry her off to the royal family.”
“Oh.”
“Needless to say, we managed to bring those plans to a halt, and only broke one tower in the process–”
“Wait. Wait, Haru? Haru Yoshioka? The human who saved King Lune and Queen Yuki?”
Humbert blinked. “You’re familiar with her?”
“I…” and Louise did her best not to give a telling blush, “may have had some dealings with the Cat Kingdom in my travels. News of King Claudius abdicating in favour of his son was kind of a big thing.”
Humbert considered this. And then, to Louise’s relief, nodded at the sense she was making. “Regardless, we brought her home safe, and we thought that was that…”
“Until?”
“Until recently when we met her again during a case.” His eyes softened at the memory, and it took all of Louise’s self-control not to coo. “I had almost forgotten her, certainly didn’t recognise her until she dropped her name, and even then I couldn’t recall her case immediately.”
Louise snorted. “That bodes well.”
“It was years ago,” Humbert retorted, heat rising to his face. “We’ve had many cases since then, and I had expected her to forget me in kind. Most humans do when they return back to their normal lives. I certainly had not expected to find her exorcising a haunted office!”
“Okay, it’s official; she’s way too cool for you.”
“Yes, well,” Baron continued, not entirely denying her claim, “it seemed the natural course of action to work together - it turns out that after her brush with the supernatural, she can’t unsee it, and so she’s been working as a… I believe the term she used was ‘monster-hunter’ in the years since - and–”
“And you fell in love with her.”
“I wish to get to know her better,” Humbert hotly amended. “I do not know her well enough to claim my feelings to be anywhere in the realm of love, but–”
“Yes, yes, yes, but that doesn’t explain all this,” and Louise motioned to his human form once again. “If she knows you’re a Creation, why not just invite her to another world and have tea there? Why go to all this…” and she gestured to his hair, “trouble?”
“She doesn’t know I’m a Creation.”
“But you said–”
“The case required a human form, and so I took on this disguise.” He had the decency to look very sheepish. “When I met Haru, I didn’t recognise her and so I gave her my cover story.”
“And now you have a date with her and you’re too embarrassed to tell her the truth.”
“I will tell her the truth,” Humbert retorted. “It’s just…” And he mumbled something.
“What was that?” Louise asked.
“It’s just, she still remembers our first encounter.”
“And?”
He mumbled again.
“Humbert, really, speak up. You were created eloquently, don’t pretend otherwise. What happened on your first meeting?”
“She confessed she had… feelings for me. A schoolgirl’s crush.”
“So you turned her down.”
“Obviously.”
“And now she’s a monster-hunter, ass-kicking badass, and completely out of your league–”
“Thanks, Louise.”
“–you’ve ironically developed a crush on her.”
“I told you that I merely wish to get to know her better…” He hesitated and then, after a dubious pause, added, “The issue lies in that I do not wish to… worry her with reminding her of our last conversation.” He shook his head. “Anyway, I imagine she has long since outgrown that schoolgirl crush, so there’s no need to remind her of it.”
“Hm,” Louise responded noncommittally. “Yeah, okay, but before you head off to sweep this Haru off her feet, you’re going to need to swap that bow tie.”
“What’s wrong with my tie–”
“Have you looked in the mirror?”
“It’s fine–”
“It has polka dots,” Louise retorted. She threw a plain blue tie at him. “Wear that instead.”
“Louise–”
“I mean, if we had the time, I’d suggest maybe something a little less formal for a first date, but I’ll settle with the removal of that abomination. Where are you meeting anyway? A restaurant? Movie? Wait, I’ve got it - are you going on a joint case together? You know, they say situations of dire peril are meant to bring people closer.” She cooed, “Aww, I always knew you could be a romantic! How dare you hide this from me!”
Humbert raised an eyebrow, but did exchange bow ties. “We’re just meeting at a cafe.” And then, when he saw Louise’s gleeful expression dissolve into disappointment, added, “Ordinary, human date, remember?” He finished tying his bow tie with a flourish. “Tonight, it’s just two humans having a perfectly ordinary afternoon.”
x
Louise had got a point, Baron couldn’t help but think as he watched Haru absorb herself in the menu. He hadn’t really spent that much time out in the Human World, and he certainly couldn’t consider himself an expert in the realm of modern dating. Not even a little bit.
Still. He was fairly certain that it didn’t take this long to choose a cake.
He should say something. Start a conversation. Get to know her, as he had told Louise. But the manners that his artisan had built into him rebelled against the idea of interrupting someone when they were deep in thought - and Haru was deep in thought, regardless of whether the menu was the cause or not - and so he found his tongue tied.
He wrote ‘hello’ on a napkin and slid it onto Haru’s side of the table.
He felt her gaze guiltily move from the menu and onto him.
“Hello,” he greeted cheerfully. He offered a reassuring smile across the cafe table.
Haru sheepishly returned it. “Hi.”
Throwing all caution to the wind, he jumped in. “So what’s the story with you?”
“Story?” She laughed and shrugged quickly. “Why does there have to be a story? There’s no story.”
“You’ve spent the first ten minutes of our date hiding behind a menu that has three cake choices,”  he told her gently. “It’s either brownie, lemon drizzle cake, or carrot cake.” He grinned. “And you’re a self-described monster-hunter. Now, I think there’s a story, and given how you are suddenly indecisive over cake, when you were perfectly capable of facing down an oni two days back, I think this has less to do with the food choices, and more to do with the date situation.”
She stared at him for a long moment, and he abruptly wondered whether he had already messed this date up. Then she laughed and batted a hand before her face to hide the already-rising blush. “Okay, you got me. Darn it, and I thought I was being so subtle.”
“So there is a story?”
“There’s a guy,” she said. “Past tense,” she was quick to add. “A guy that I knew… years ago, who I had the biggest crush on.” She reddened. “He, uh, made it quite clear that it was a one-way thing though, and we lost touch with one another after that. But, um…” and here, she deliberately avoided Baron’s gaze, “you… kind of remind me of him?”
She waited for him to say something, evidently mortified by her own admission.
Baron had to resist the urge to laugh.
“I remind you of an old crush?” he asked instead.
“Just a… just a little bit. You know,” and she motioned weakly to his face, “the eyes, your accent, the outfit…”
“Was he also English?”
She scrunched up her nose. “I mean… I guess? The accent was, anyway.”
“Then that explains it. In England, you’re only allowed to wear such dapper suits if you have the accent to match.”
She laughed then. The anxiety drained from her, and the blush adorning her cheeks went from embarrassment to amusement. She leant in with a conspiring glint. “What if you’re caught faking the accent?”
“That’s what the Tower of London is for.”
She laughed again, and Baron found himself beginning to relax. This really wasn’t so difficult. Maybe he needn’t have worried after all. Yes. This was all under control. He could do this.
A shadow appeared over them, and his brain kicked onto automatic. “Sorry, we haven’t made a choice yet, but if you could bring over a jug of water, that would be grand.”
“Water? On a date? How exciting.”
Baron looked up and saw that the shadow was not that of a waiter, but of a young woman, short, with her brown hair cut into a neat bob. Definitely not staff.
Haru sighed. “Sorry, this is Hiromi, my future ex-friend. Hiromi, this is my date, who I told you about.” Haru shot a meaningful look at the newcomer, who completely sidestepped it.
“Sweet. He’s cute.”
“Hiromi.”
“Anyway, I’m just dropping by,” Hiromi continued. She grabbed a nearby chair and hauled it over. “Are you going to eat those biscuits? No? Cool.”
“Hiromi, what are you doing here?”
Haru’s friend set to picking out the on-the-house biscuits, snapping them in half and nibbling along the edges. “Okay, so, I drop by your house, fully expecting you to be cleaning off the goo off whatever monster-of-the-week you stopped this time, but you’re not. You’re wearing lady clothes and jewellery, and you’ve actually showered with proper scented shower gel, not that nasty goo-be-gone gel that gets out bloodstains–”
“Is there a point to all this,” Haru asked desperately, “because there really needs to be a point to all this.”
“Right, okay.” Hiromi finished her biscuit and brushed the crumbs off the table. “Well, then I remembered that you said you were meeting up with that dude you met when stopping the office oni–”
Baron had to resist the urge to remind her that he was right there.
“–which is just as well, because you remember that programme you made to alert you if there were any sudden blips of that weird strong toy magic?” Hiromi thrust a phone across at Haru. “Well, you might want to take a look.”
“It’s not toy magic,” Haru could be heard to mumble, but her fingers twitched as she read the screen’s data. She looked sharply - hopefully - up at Hiromi, and then her gaze slid guiltily back to Baron. The shrug she gave aimed for nonchalance and missed. “I’m sure it’s just… a blip. Make a note of the location, and I’ll check it out later. It’s probably nothing.”
“It doesn’t look like nothing,” Hiromi said. “It kinda looks like the readings you went cuckoo over last winter. You know, with the talking tin soldier?”
Baron suddenly recalled hearing about a fellow Creation - a toy soldier - in the next town over, and suspicions began to crawl into his bones over the exact nature of Haru’s search. He flexed his human hands and wondered whether the transformation magic might have triggered the blip.
“Oh yeah,” Hiromi said to Baron, “Haru told me that you know all about the magic and monsters and everything. All supernatural creatures give off a distinct type of magic signature, and Haru has this interest in these living toys–”
“They’re Creations,” Haru amended, “and he’s really not interested–”
“I’m interested,” Baron said.
“–and I’m not interested,” Haru continued. “Time for you to go now.”
Hiromi paused, and glanced between the two of them. She raised an eyebrow and rose back to her feet. “O-kay. Well, enjoy the date!”
There was a long, dubious pause in the silence that followed.
“She seems… nice,” Baron eventually ventured.
“She needs manners,” Haru said. “I’m so sorry–”
“Don’t be. Actually, she reminds me a lot of my sister. All energy and good intentions wrapped up in a chaotic bundle.”
Haru snorted and flipped open the menu again. “That’s Hiromi, all right.”
Baron smiled and followed suit. He glanced over the options, as if he hadn’t chosen a good fifteen minutes ago. When an acceptable minute had passed, he said, “I think I’m going to go with the carrot cake.”
“Carrot cake,” Haru echoed. “Yeah, carrot cake sounds good.” Baron watched her as her eyes glazed over the page. “Carrot cake. Carrot cake, carrot cake, carrot cake…” The words continued to trip over her tongue, barely conscious of the shape of them. “Carrot cake…”
Baron smiled and folded his menu. “Haru?”
“Hm?”
“Maybe you should stop saying ‘carrot cake’ and go after your friend.”
“Oh, no, I couldn’t just leave–”
“It’s fine. I can just stay here and say carrot cake alone.”  He offered her a good-natured smile. “Go on. It’s obviously important to you.”
Haru’s guilty expression sank into relief. “Thank you.” She had already half-risen to her feet before she visibly remembered her manners. She spun back to him. “This has been… so much fun, we should… definitely do this again.” She grinned apologetically and ran off after Hiromi.
Baron waited until they were out of sight before jumping to his feet and shooting in the opposite direction. He tripped over a trash bag obscuring the alleyway, his gaze so intent on the skies. “Toto? Toto!”
Toto landed on a bin skip, appraising Baron’s ruffled appearance with a critical eye. “That date was short.”
“Haru is… Haru is… she’s…” He motioned for Toto to wait for him to regain his breath and senses. He broke out into a grin. “She’s looking for me.”
“Looking for you?”
“She’s following spikes of Creation magic, and she’s picked up the shape-shifting spell I used to become human, and...” He trailed off as his train of logic hit a brick wall.
Toto, as usual, filled in the dots as quickly - or if not quicker - than Baron. “The spell which you used halfway across the city,” he said, “while you are here. Human.”
“Yes.”
Toto sighed. “I’ll find her and stall her until you can get back.” Toto gave an amused grin. “Hopefully the human disguise will have worn off before then, otherwise you’re going to have a lot of questions to answer before you even start.”
Baron grinned back. “I’ll improvise.”
“Oh good.”

hey so i 'redid' the yansim characters but not all of them i wrote 2 much so
[I put the submission under the cut since it was pretty lengthy]
hey whats up guys i had 2 put this in a submission as well as literally typed this in a note bc im on data & i dont wanna use a lot of it
basically my au takes place in a college instead. seems more fitting bc theyre actual adults & just feels Right.
theres more characters than there is in the original but thats mainly because i took the ‘genderbent versions’ & made them useful (i pretty much made them in2 siblings 4 some characters lol) anyways!! lets break down the characters
also lads, lassies, non-gender specific term for those bc i dont know the term, im givin yall a warning 4 self harm, suicide, nsfw implications/rape, possible drug abuse, and the rest of the Basic Criteria
Akihiko (Previously known as Senpai): He’s gay & trans. His name means 'bright prince’ which really has no significance, I just thought it was pretty……………and everyone views him as a prince bc he’s rly nice and kind and forgiving and actually has a personality other than being a cardboard box. Eventually gets into a commited relationship w/ 'Yandere-kun’ who I really need to give a name. Akihiko has a twin brother, I took that idea from the possibility of a younger sister, and admittingly(admittedly???) enough, Koumi’s 'genderbent’ Hanako. I’ll get into detail on his twin later, but they have a pretty good relationship. Akihiko (it was at this point i actually looked up a name 4 him & went back 2 edit stuff bc i h8 senpai lol) is still childhood friends w/ 'Osana’, who I renamed Ami(i4got her last name i had 4 her). However, neither of them have romantic feelings for one another, considering Akihiko is only attracted to males, and Ami is only attracted to females(theyre gay.). Akihiko actually meets Ayano when she is about to commit suicide, when he saves her. Ami is there with him, so they both save her. Aside from slight backstory related stuff, Akihiko is actually rather popular. People like him for an actual personality this time!! He’s very kind and puts others needs before his, which is rather dangerous. Ami has lectured him on this many times. Akihiko’s also known for having really good grades and being very helpful when it comes to tutoring others. He meets Ichirou (yandere-kun i literally just looked up anothr name his name means first son bc hes the first son btw lolol) eventually when Ayano invites him over. (sry this is everywhere btw i should have put this in2 a specific order) ngl i feel like this is enough on akihiko like if u wanna kno more abt him hmu on my main christopherpierre-official
Ami (Previously known as Osana): god shes so fucking gay like as soon as she met ayano she fuckign DIED bc she loves her so much???she thinks ayano is like. the prettiest fuckgin girl ever. holy fuckshit shes GAY AND WILL DEFEND AYANO WOTH HER LIFE!!!! Anyways. Ami comes from a dangerously abusive household, and as a result, took a lot of self defense classes when she ran away at age 13. (what year is tht in japan pls help) She still retains some of her 'tsundere’ personality, but she’s more thoughtful of others feelings. She met Ayano as she was about to throw herself into highly active traffic, but she and Akihiko were able to stop her before she could hurt herself. As soon as Ami and Akihiko were able to calm Ayano down, they called an ambulance/contacted the hospital, considering she had a lot of bruises and cuts. They would later find out Ayano’s father was extremely abusive, and the mother was unable to do anything because she was away on a trip for work. A lot of people know Ami for how assertive she can be, misinterpreting her mostly good intentions as aggressive. Ami is mostly known for her knowledge on medical related things, but she still has a slightly bad reputation because of how rude she comes off as. again thts enougb on ami if u wanna kno more just ask me!!
Ayano: still keeps the name bc I Like It?? its pretty fuck u. Ayano has none of her yandere personality. She’s fuckign AFRAID of everything bc of her SHIT ASS ABUSIVE DAD!! Her mom’s still kinda yandere tho, but she didnt kidnal the dad or anything. Their marriage is founded off of Pure And Honest Love…….until the mom kills the dad 4 being a homphobic shit bitch lol. Ayano actually has a lot of self harm scars. She barely gets to see her older brother, Ichirou, who is two years older than her, because he’s away or some shit idk he gets abused p badly too tho. Ayano is rly reserved & quiet & im debating on giving her bpd but its Iffy idk. she has ptsd & kinda sorta got raped by some Fucker in middle school (ichirou took care of the fucker (: hes dead.) so she has a lot of trauma going on here!! I kinda sorta projected some emotional trauma of mine onto Ayano;;; Obviously when Ami found out she was fuxking enraged. Ayano can’t afford to move out of her house just yet, and her brother can’t necessarily take her in, nor does he have her contact info. He kinda sorta left thr country for a bit?? Not sure what country I want this to take place in yet. However, Ichirou is fairly powerless against his father as well, so he took a lot of the beatings, (even tho this boy is fucking Strong as Hell like GOD FUCKIN DAMN!!! he can lift his own mom w/o an issue!! but he kinda left like right away as soon as he could & couldnt take ayano i mean she was still in high school & he Obviously has guilt over not taking her w/ him) but not as many as Ayano, seeing as to how she was the fathers least favourite. Her mother never married the father, and she didn’t want the children to inherit his last name either. …..anyways this is enough i thimk
Ichirou (Previously Yandere-kun): Gay. Loves Akihiko. Retains the yandere personality, but it’s not as bad??? He left the [insert surname household here fuck aishi its not even a Real japanese surname] household as soon as possible, and had immediate regrets. Loves his darling little sister with all of his heart, but it’s literally not incestuous. It’s just good sibling love………also he likes 2 embarass ayano a lot lol. As soon as he met Akihiko, who I never mentioned to have pastel pink hair, he fell in love like, right away? Even though I personally don’t believe in love at first sight (that’s a lie I fell in love w/ most of my anime bf’s @ first sight i can shut the Fuck Off) Ichirou was just??immediately enchanted by this beautiful prince…….he’s just that gay. He’s 2 whole singular years older than Ayano. actually not 2 whole years but w/e hes a scorpio tho. Ichirou has definitely been in relationships w/ other men b4 but they didn’t work out too well. Some rando called him 'daddy’ once and wanted to fucking Die he has shit experiences with his dad & hates the daddy kink so much. He also has ptsd. Doesn’t know how to deal with his emotions at all so he just bottles them up and lets them out all at once and it’s a mess. Also has self harm scars, and some scars from his father trying to Literally Kill Him. This boy……strong as fuck. Can lift his own mom. Has held Ami, Ayano, and Akihiko all at once. Somehow. He’s just a really good older brother? But he’s also really sneaky. While he is jealous of the time Ami & Ayano spend with Akihiko (the A squad lol i just realized their names all start w/ the letter a) he does respect that they’re really close friends, and nothing more. He’s also aware of the unsaid feelings between Ayano and Ami (vry perceptive) so he doesn’t care lol. However, he has little to no tolerance of anyone else being around him. He has a slight distaste for Akihiko’s twin, Kazuhiko (the name means harmonious prince i got a Theme goin on here) but he disregards the feelings. wow talk abt an Info Dump okay next 1
Kazuhiko (Previously the 'genderbent’ little sister/brother, made him into Akihiko’s twin brother): He’s actually a yandere too?? But not 4 Akihiko. He’s vry supportive of Akihiko tho. When he & his twin were in middle school, he gave his uniform to his brother bc he still got the sailor uniform, so he took it. There were some troubles but hey I don’t know how this shit is dealt w/ so please. Just accept this brother supporting his gay trans twin……pls….. He enjoys Ayano’s company. She reminds him of his gf/d8m8, the 'genderbent’ version of “”“"senpai”“”“ (theyre cousins but nobody knows yet so thats why) so he introduces them and they hit it off pretty well! Kazuhiko get Jealous™ and nearly exposes his yandere personality but his Lovely Beautiful Nonbinary Girlfriend reassures him tht they only love him. He loves Yuuka (their full name is yuuka minako) so much?? He would kill 4 them. Literally. He almost has. & b4 i accidentally make a cishet character bc i Refuse 2 4 some???odd reason idk, kazuhiko is a Bisexual Demiboy who fell in love w/ a nonbinary who is okay w/ feminine aligned things. Back on track, Kazuhiko is fairly popular w/ a lot of people for many reasons, and oh wow what a Fucking Cliche ppl r strongly sexually attracted to him!!coolio. he looks nothing like koumis fuckass potato lookin little brother btw. But a lot of people hate the fact that he’s in a Very Committed Relationship w/ Yuuka bc shes not that pretty damn!! But she is. She’s so fucking pretty. To him, at least. He basically fucking worships Yuuka. this is A Lot next character lol
Yuuka (Previously 'Senpai-chan’ or w/e lol): Nonbinary who’s fine w/ she/her pronouns, but also uses they/them. Very shy, Ayano & Ichirou’s cousin. Has a younger sister, and two older siblings who are twins. The younger sister is the old concept for the original little sister, and the older siblings are nemesis-chan & 'nemesis-kun’. While Yuuka and their siblings have lived a fairly abusive life, they haven’t sustained as much 'damage’ as Ayano’s family. Yuuka & Ayano are related by their mothers. They are sisters, only a year and an undetermined amount of months apart. This means after Ryoba, Ayano’s mother, or Sakurako, Yuuka’s mother, moved away, they lost contact with one another, never bothering to talk again. Yuuka and Ayano get along exceptionally well, and Hanako (u remember the little sister well her name stays the same bc its meaning is just flower child. also her design changes.) often refers to Ayano as an elder sister. Yuuka’s relationship with her little sister is somewhat strained due to the three year age gap, but they still get along regardless. Their relationship is strained because Yuuka promises to spend more time with their younger sister, but there’s not much time due to an overwhelming amount of schoolwork, as well as their job taking up a lot of time, too. Regardless, Yuuka doesn’t forget to call their darling little sister as often as she can, checking up on her and how well she’s doing in school. next 1!!!! also i4got 2 talk abt their relationship w/ kazuhiko here bc i was rly focused on mentioning family stuff…..oops (also 4got 2 mention mental health stuff??but like. yuuka has adhd, depression, anxiety, u can just ask me if u wanna know more tbh)
Hanako: i kept the name bc it just literally means flower child & honestly shes such a flowery child??anyways. Hanako retains little to none of her annoying rip-off-nico personality. Instead, she has set up a calm, shy exterior as a defense mechanism due to the many years of neglect she received from her father. (me @ myself y r all the dad characters fuxking Dicks in this like??okay damn.) On top of that, growing up, her mother was never around, due to the fact that she was in the hospital to a terminal illness. Instead, she had to rely on Yuuka for attention, since the twins, Tomoko (sister) and Kiyoshi (brother) left before she graduated her first year in middle school. Hanako also has difficulties with her schoolwork because she, much like her sister, has ADHD. Due to this, she struggles to keep up with the class, and has a hard time paying attention to almost anything that doesn’t interest her enough. However, she has many supports, helping her as much as possible in many ways, which does make her feel better about herself. After her mother had made a full recovery and left the hospital in her current year, she has felt much better about herself, and her grades have definitely improved. Although her father did leave her a while back when she found out he was having an affair on her mom, she still managed fairly well on her own. i mean cmon its not like she liked her dad tht much lol he was a Big Fucking Asswipe hanako isnt as fleshed out as i wished her 2 b but shes not That signigicant to the main story??idk. like shes still in highschool & shes only 17 & this takes place in college so??i dunno. i mean if u got suggestions or smth..sure
Tomoko (Previously Nemesis-chan, made her one of the older siblings bc idk y not lol: There’s not much to say about her. She’s 28, which is only 11 years apart from Hanako. She was entirely capable of filling in the missing mother role for her and Yuuka, but she herself didn’t know what to do. On top of that, she was more focused on getting the best grades out of the entire class, and was much better at academics than her brother. Tomoko has a very cold exterior. She is hard to connect with, and pays little to no attention to anyone elses feelings than her own. This mainly stems from the fact that her father, who she doesn’t even consider a blood related relative, was too busy messing around with other women. buddy i dont know what else 2 write 4 tomoko like she just has severe apathy issues & just doesnt know how 2 connect w/ others. next character
Kiyoshi (Previously Koumi’s shit ass 'genderbend’ Nemesis-chan): Unlike Tomoko, he was able to fill in the father-like role for Yuuka and Hanako. Due to having to take on the role of the father, it put a large strain on his academics and work outside of school. He, at one point, almost had to drop out to take care of his younger siblings, but decided against it. He eventually decided to teach Yuuka how to do her own laundry and how to cook when she was only 9. Due to this, Yuuka was able to take care of herself and Hanako while Kiyoshi could work and pay their bills. Kiyoshi was only 23 when he left the household so he could go to college and get a degree, leaving Yuuka at age 15, and Hanako at age 12. he could b more fleshed out but im??i dunno. im Panicking okay do u think i can work on a character tht doesnt rly show up in the story a lot.
anyways im just putting all of These Guys in 1 this 4 now bc this is A Lot as it is. ill do more later also give me criticism on these pls
--
I really like what you’ve done with the characters (especially now that they have personalities and stories behind them, instead of just nothing). Also, the names you gave them were cute.

Bill Good looks into The Ubyssey March 12 2013
On March 12 1993, Bill Good had Ubyssey editors Frances Foran and Lucho van Isschot on his call in show on CKNW to diiscuss the growing public attention to the student newspaper. The Ubyssey was talked about on the air ffor almost an hour. I saved the audiotape of the show that I made--wow it was 25 years ago. My quotes are verbatim if I put them between quote marks. A meaty show. Three posts, I think. Good introduces the pair as asks "Does either of you think you went too far?" (Referring to several controversies he mentioned before asking the question. Frances Foran replies. She will do most os the talking for the two Ubyssey editors during this show . She says, re[lying to the has the Ubyssey changed over the years question Good puts next: "I Think not. I think The Ubyssey hasn't really changed over the 75 year course of its history. We've always been iconoclastic andapostatic (sp?). I think what's changed is the climate at UBC. It's become a lot more conservative amd we're feeling the backlash.... the students have become conservative and elitist." (Comment from Rick the post author. I think that what Frances was trying to get at is that UBC was starting to get gentrified in the 90s. If you said that, I wouls agred. With increases in the cost of education, it's probably worse now. But there will always be "limosene liberlals" They probably made up the bulk of people wanting to work for The Ubyssey back then.) Good comments that students were interesting in getting jobs--"...you're nodding your head...." Foran replies "They're part of the status quo and they're afraid of jeapordizing that." Good asks "Are students mad?" Foran says "I don't know...I'm not sure how many students actually read the paper. I know who's mad at us--the administration. They don't like the publicity and student council's mad as well." Bill Good asks about the transit editorial fuss. All that Foran says on that on the radio is in my post "It's not illegal if you don't get caught" Please scroll back to that. Foran then talks about the Ubyssey Valentines week "sex" issue. "What we did this year is to to epand the tradition terms of Lesbin/gay/bisexual and part of the reason for the hypocrisy around seuality and around censorship as welll..." Lucho van Isschot is asked if he agrees and says "Yeah, I agree that's a fair assesment of what we were aiming ai...." (Comment from Rick. Poor Lucho. He doesn't have much to say as Foran is taking the ball and heading for the end zone.) Good wants to discuss the transit editorial. Foran's comments are noted in the sbove post "it's not illegal if you don't get caught". After that is discussed, Good asks --paraphrase--What's the rolr of the campus newspaper and are you going to be reigbed in? Foran says "I think our role is, and should remain., to be critiacl of the form in which we exist. [UBC} is an increasingly elite institution and people don't like that....I think we're living in a society is more concerned about who's sleeping around eith whom, We want to be critical. We want to be analytical and inform. We want the freedom to do that and unforunately, I think we might be at the end." Good asks if people at the Unyssey want to be journalists. "Is there training around?" Foran answers: "It's a training ground for anyone who wants to be a journalist..." [Comment from Rick the post author : You could learn the very baics at The Ubyssey, but to become a "newsman", I had to start working at British Columbia Report. The Ubyssey wan't really a "j-school" during my time at the paper.) Rewinding Foran a little... "...a training ground for anyone who wants to become a journalist. I did wan't to become a journalist a couple years ago...but I don't any more....yeah, I guess I have smartened up. I've felt the linits and I know there is a lot of economic control." Van Isschot pipes up "all we've heard so far from the administration is second hand news. We read it in the Sun and via our stunt council but we havn't sat down and talked about tis so-called "problem" He adds "I think there is a lot of back room dealing and discussion about 'What to do with The Ubyssey." Foran revelas that she had graduated in 1992, so there had been talk among UBC adminiostration officials about her being an editor now. Van Isschot eplained that there was a new rule that editors had to be UBC students.. The Ubyssey had started to lose advertisers. For what it's woth, Foran next says: "One of the departments at UBC, the housing department, has gonr around to our advertisers to basically implimenting an ad boycott against up and there's basically beem a severe finacial downturn." (Comment from Rick, the post author. Maybe things were close to editors' vests and I was starting to write else where, but i don't recall this. Don't want to say that she's lying, though. Just don't know. But I was still around.) aterial arou (Another comment. The Ubyssey dropped to publisking once a week in the net decade with the recession. Maybe buying an ad in a student newspaper was seen as a boutique way of advertising. Controversywoldn't help though.) Van Isschot adds to what Foran says about a boycott. He said: "Apparently they are taking copies of the controversial material around the city. not just on campus and asking them to join in an unofficial ad boycott of The Ubyssey and subsequently we have recieved letters from people who have had the material brought to their attentiion." Then Bill Good opened the phone lines so that people could phone in. Bill Dobie was the first caller. At the time, he was presi.dent of the Alma Mater Society., the UBC student government/council. "I can tell you that students are angry with the paper," Dobie said. (Comment from Rick, the blog author: The sqeaky wheel gets the grease. I don't think that anyone did professional polling, on eother "side", to see what students thought.) Foran replies to Dobie. Part of what she says is that the AMS should not be publishing the paper. (When the ubyssey gets autonomy, which I'll discuss in a later post, an arm's length student board ill be the "publishers" of the Ubyssey.) Caller 2 sees The Ubyssey as a "product of the 60s" and adds "Stand by your principles? You're in for a helluva shock." Caller 3 was Aaron Drake of the Campus Times. He says that The Ubyssey is "unrepresentative" and that "the Campus Times came about as an answer to the Ubyssey problem" and that there is room for two papers on campus. (Comment from Rick the blog author--Youll recall from my post "The Campus Times" that the paper magically appeared when UBC staff decided to respect CUPE picket lines duren the en Ubyssey was shut ing a campus strike. It had a clear run of a year with all the advertising when The Ubyssey shut down and couldn't stay alive when The Ubyssey returned. So, basically, the Campus Times came into existence as "strikebreakers" when there wasn't a "Ubyssey problem" He's trying to make grist of The Ubyssey's woes.) Caller 4 points out that Foran is no longer a student which was already discussed on the program. (Comment from Rick the blog author: One year I yook one course to stay on the UBC books. Maybe Foran should have done the same. And caller--It Can Never Happen Again!) Van Isschot observes that it is (now was) hard to be a full time student when you are a Ubyssey editor. Caller 4 adds that un their opinion Foran has "a breathtaking naivete'" Caller 5 was at the same time a columnist for SFU's The Peak student newspaper and a member of SFU's student coucil. he observes that university papers should be angering the university administration. Bill Good says Goodbye to Frances Foran and Lucho Van Isschot, who leave the studio. But people still called in about The Ubyssey. . The next caller said "....Student newspapers should be impetuous." A couple calls later,, a caller that I will call Female Mystery Caller phoned in. She'll get a standalone post. Ubyssey critic Jason Saunderson calls in after the "MFC" I'll give him his own post too.

Prince Valiant is the comic strip pinnacle Foster is in a holding pattern in this volume but the pattern is at a very high altitude. The two years of Sunday pages in this volume open with Val trying to rescue Gawain from a king holding him for ransom and ends with Val tracking down a king who had tried to conquer the Misty Isles and failing that, murder Aleta. In between there is a generous amount of violence, humor, romance, and other slices of medieval life. The primary character growth comes when Val's son Arn must cope with the first time he kills a man in battle. Go to Amazon
Woth Waiting For How long was the publication delayed for ?.. i dunno.. seems ages.. but the quality of the book can not be faulted and the Love the publishers have for the work is clearly evident from the cover page to the end page. .. and after all it is Forster at the ( growing) heights of his art work and writing. Go to Amazon
Still Good after all these Years. It is Hal Foster's premier work, in my opinion, so that pretty much sums it up. I remember waiting for the Sunday morning paper just so I could read the next installment to this wonderful story. This particular volume is very impressive in terms of size, coloring and clarity. I am going to buy all the remaining volumes. I highly recommend this series to anyone that remembers and enjoys the Prince Valiant saga. Go to Amazon
Return of Chivalry, Wonder & Dreams Fantagraphics has always enjoyed a reputation for publishing cutting-edge, quality Go to Amazon
Harold Foster's character, Prince Valiant- a good pal. The work speaks for itself. Foster did for fiction what most authors don't: the reader comes out of the story empowered and craving more of life. I love fantasy, but shear fantasy, even when it's good and relevant, makes one regret the story is over. For some, a listless feeling from being too dependent on the world created by its author. (I have been a little sad after reading The Lord of the Rings for this reason. It takes me so long to read, however, that I can just about turn around and start over again after I've finished. Better example of my sis telling me that she was bummed after seeing Star Wars because her life wasn't like that. But it's a great movie- and fun! I think people who play video games go through withdrawal if they attempt to stop playing for a period of time.Though not as well conceived, Avatar gave many people what they stated as depression because the fantasy world was not real.) Go to Amazon
Great stuff! Though I am not old enough to have started with the 1937 comic strips, I used to read about Prince Valiant every week in our local paper. When these archive volumes caught my eye last year I knew I would eventually have to purchase one. Well, I guess I'll be collecting the whole series! Volume One was great, I can't wait to see what happens next! Go to Amazon
Graphic Artist genius One review for all of Hal Fosters work is sufficient. Genius artist and story teller, and as a graphic artist/cartoonist for dozens of years there was no one better. I am aiming to own his complete collection. Go to Amazon
Five Stars I have bought all the volumes, PAC Five Stars Working on the set. Books are well made, ... Five Stars Five Stars Publishers take the hint! Re-issue. The Only Actual Review of this Book Can't wait for the next one. but just perfect.

Art and History based Illustrated novel 1 Volumes 1 and 2 are excellent quality reproductions of this continuing novel with a new chapter every Sunday. Hal Foster put his heart and soul into developing the concept and creating new and fresh stories each Sunday.
