Backstory: Alexis was born to Belinda, a vampire and Nick, another vampire on the 10th of August before her brother, Jaybird and along with their younger sister Bea. Belinda was a huge role model in her life where her dad was hardly around. Their mom warned them about the werewolves. They hanged out with the Cullens whenever both of their parents were busy. When she was 8, she met Jacob and played with him but was cut short when her mom took her away from him, telling him his family was part of the werewolves. So, she never hanged with him again. Soon enough, when a fight between the Volturi and their family broke out, the dad ran away in cowardly fear and her mother and brother died. Alex and Bea cried next to their mother and brother that night and she grew distance between her sister.

A few years later, Bea and a vampire named Jack Austin, soon having a child with him. Alex noticed something off with Jack and tried to tell Bea but Bea wouldn't listen. Alex gave up and looked after Hailey whenever her sister or brother-in-law were busy and grew attached to her. She soon met Jacob again when she told him off for going onto vampire territory. Bea and Alex continued going to school, hence Carlisle helping them with school fees cause he's ✨rich✨. After getting into an argument with Bea one time, Bea got ran over by a car and passed away and Jack left, leaving Alex with Hailey. She soon started hanging out with Jacob, giving up with everything and they both slowly started to develop feelings for each other. By the time they were 17, they started to secretly date, the pack and Cullens soon finding out and who knows what happens next :)

Backstory: Annika Daisy Austin was born on the 8th of May 2005 to Bea and Jack Austin. She loved her parents and aunt dearly and they loved her back. Whenever her parents weren't around, she hanged out with her aunt, Alex. But everything took a turn for the worse when her parents died. Alex was forced to look after Annika. But everything sorta worked out for the both of them.

A few years later, she meets Seth when they are training to fight Victoria's vampire crew in Eclipse. They became friends and as time passed, she developed a small crush on him. She teased him playfully sometimes but other times, she was good friends with him. They met again when Edward and Bella got married and hung out secretly when no one was looking. They soon became a couple while Edward and Bella were on their honeymoon. And time will tell what happens next :D

I have another Disney movie idea that’ll just never happen;

Y’know Rise of the Brave Tangled Frozen Dragons? I have something similar, but it’s exclusively Disney properties. Basically, take the ending premise of Wish, where Asha becomes like the Fairy Godmother, but use that as a jumping off point to make a crossover story where Asha must gather “Heroes of the Realm” like she’s Nick Fury and it’s 2012 Avengers time. Bring together the heroes from Raya and the Last Dragon, Moana, Tangled (and Tangled the Series), and Frozen (maybe also Brave if Disney wants to add a Pixar property to this lineup like they did with the princess room in Wreck it Ralph 2). Have them all come together for a musical action adventure comedy to fight some cosmic evil or something I dunno, I just really desperately want to hear Ariana DeBose singing with Idina Menzel, Mandy Moore with Kristen Bell, I want to see an expansion on the romantic tension between Raya and Namaari, I want to have Moana show Rapunzel the Sun drop flower that’s on her island (seen in a blink and you’ll miss it Easter egg but that’s still canon). And I want to give the premise of Wish another chance, because we were robbed. We’ve all seen the concept art and original ideas for the movie, the stuff Disney didn’t end up going with. It could’ve been great, and now that it’s a flop Disney won’t wanna touch it because in terms of money making it’s a dud, and that’s all Disney seems to care about nowadays.

It's been 10 years passed since Disney's Frozen came out on November-27-2013 and let me tell ya: that movie is frozen-tastic and one of my favorite Disney movies! Get it? Frozen-tastic? Oh, man. Anyways, it's the story about their kingdom called Arendelle becomes trapped in perpetual winter, fearless Princess Anna (Kristen Bell) joins forces with mountaineer and iceman Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and his reindeer sidekick named Sven to find Anna's sister, Snow Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel), and break her icy spell. Well, Queen Elsa does possess magical ice powers, so don't disrespect her, though. Although their epic journey leads them to encounters with mystical trolls, a comedic and optimistic snowman named Olaf (Josh Gad), harsh conditions and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff bravely push onward in a race to save their kingdom from winter's cold grip. You should know that Queen Elsa is NOT the main villain in the movie, Prince Hans from the Southern Isles (Santino Fontana) is the true villain in the movie and he's also the wolf in sheep's clothing, so my advice to Princess Anna: you have to be careful who you trust. I'm just saying. The song called "Let It Go" performed by Idina Menzel is truly AWESOME and one of my favorite songs of all time.

For the character ask: Elphaba and Glinda (Wicked)

Well, I'm not deeply familiar with this show, just casually familiar, but here goes. Musical only, because I haven't read the book.

Elphaba

Favorite thing about them: I admire her for standing up against injustice and fighting to free others from oppression, even if it means being labeled a "wicked witch" by all of Oz and risking her life. Beyond that, I like how relatable she is, both in her anger and in her vulnerability and yearning for love, to anyone who feels different or cast out. For a wide array of reasons – race, neurodivergence, sexuality, gender identity, political stance – countless people identify with her and feel validated because she exists. This makes her a valuable character for much the same reason as her spiritual sister (and sound-alike) Elsa from Frozen. It's probably the main reason why the trend of "famous villain reimagined as an outcast hero or heroine" has become so popular throughout the last two decades – a trend that as far as I know, Elphaba single-handedly started.

Least favorite thing about them: I hate the catfight scene with Glinda after Nessarose's death, although I blame Glinda more for it – at least Elphaba's anger is righteous and not jealousy-based. Morally, though, the worst thing she does is imprison Dorothy.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I often feel like an outsider.

*I'm outraged by social injustice and do what I can to help the marginalized.

*I have a temper that I try to control, though fortunately mine doesn't cause magical mishaps.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I'm not brave enough to become the most hated and feared outlaw in my country in the name of fighting for justice.

*I don't pretend not to care what others think of me.

*I don't have green skin.

Favorite line: The lyrics to "The Wizard and I," "Defying Gravity," and "No Good Deed."

brOTP: In-universe, Glinda. In crossover-land, I'd also love to see her meet Elsa from Frozen and Angelina Jolie's Maleficent (both of whom arguably owe their existence to her), and maybe Enjolras from Les Misérables, since he's a fellow revolutionary – there's a funny fan comic that shows them getting drunk together at a slumber party for musical characters.

OTP: Fiyero. (Yes, I know that for some fans it's sacrilege not to ship her with Glinda, but I just like her better with Fiyero romantically, and besides, if we don't believe she really loves him, then the emotional power of "No Good Deed" and the sweet part of the bittersweet ending both fall flat.)

nOTP: The Wizard, even if he weren't her father.

Random headcanon: Someday she'll learn that the Wizard was her real father, and she'll be shaken by the revelation, but ultimately it will matter less to her than it does to him. He was just a sperm donor.

Unpopular opinion: Two of them.

(1) I think some fans – and maybe the libretto itself – view her too much as a "morally ambiguous" character. "She's neither a good guy nor a bad guy," they say, "there are two sides to every story." But IMHO, the real morally ambiguous figure in this show is Glinda. Elphaba is never perfect, it's true, but she's a straightforward sympathetic heroine until the 11th hour, when she only temporarily turns "bad" because she's emotionally broken. For the most part, she is a good guy.

(2) She's not a lesbian, she's bisexual. While she might have some unspoken feelings beyond friendship for Glinda, she truly is in love with Fiyero (see OTP above).

Favorite thing about them: Her sheer three-dimensionality and growth as a character. Of course she's not the purely good, fairy-like Glinda from The Wizard of Oz, but neither is she the shallow, bubble-headed "mean girl" she seems to be at first. She's probably the most complex character in the musical. I think she's very comparable to the King in The King and I, her relationship with Elphaba corresponding to his with Anna. Like him, she's funny and she sometimes seems like a silly, spoiled jerk, but she has real warmth, cleverness, and sympathetic qualities too, and is torn between a flawed status quo and risky changes, as well as between her conscience and her ego, while navigating a position of power. This is rare for a female character, especially an unabashedly girly one.

Least favorite thing about them: That she turns against Elphaba and tries to get her captured by the Wizard, taking advantage of her sister's death to do it no less, just because she's angry that Fiyero left her for Elphaba. Yes, she regrets it and they have their heartwarming reconciliation in the end, but it's still very bad.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I like pastel colors like pink and pale blue.

*I'm not always brave enough to stand up for what I know is right.

*I can be very lively and exuberant about things I enjoy.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I've always been an "odd one out," not part of the popular crowd.

*I don't tend to be cutesy or flirty.

*I can't imagine myself becoming a political leader.

Favorite line: Most of her solo lines from "Thank Goodness," showing her inner conflict under her happy facade.

brOTP: Elphaba.

OTP: None. I know this is unpopular among fans who ship her with Elphaba, but I ship her first and foremost with personal growth.

nOTP: Fiyero or the Wizard.

Random headcanon: Someday she'll meet Elphaba and Fiyero again. I don't know the details, but it will be an exciting sequel, and even if they part again in the end, she at least won't need to live the rest of her life thinking they died because of her.

Unpopular opinion: I can't agree when I see people write about what a wonderful friend to Elphaba she is, how she's the best person in Elphaba's life, or how she's actually wiser than Elphaba because she knows that to achieve anything socio-politically you need to be liked. While of course she's more sympathetic than she seems at first, she's still deeply flawed both as a person and as a friend – that's part of the point – and while it's true that she, not Elphaba, is the one who frees Oz from the Wizard's rule in the end, she never would have done it without being "changed for good" by Elphaba.

This one probably feels a little out of place, but hear me out. Frozen 2 doesn't do a whole lot for me... this song does. In context, the singer (Elsa) is looking for answers and thinks she's being led to find them. Like suddenly all will be revealed and boom! happily ever after. The twist is she "meets" the source that's been leading her only to find out she's the one holding all the cards. There's no magic entity that's going to fix everything. It's her.

5. under the weather - caleb hearn and jillian rossi

People keep talking through my phone / They don't notice I'm so alone / I sit there and pretend / I'm not under the weather again

If seasonal affective disorder had a theme song this would be it. I'm sure of it. The lyrics specifically call out seasonal sadness. However, this really fits for anyone wearing the i'm-totally-fine-nothing-to-see-here mask and trying to avoid letting the world see they're completely falling apart.

Director Mercedes Bryce Morgan and screenwriter Leah Saint Marie discuss their genre film SPOONFUL OF SUGAR.

Making its New York premier as part of the 2023 Winter Film Awards Winter FEAR Awards Horror Film Competition is the genre film SPOONFUL OF SUGAR, the tale of a disturbed babysitter experiences a sexual awakening while using LSD to alternatively treat a seemingly “sick” child from a family with dark secrets of their own.

SPOONFUL OF SUGAR is directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan from a screenplay by writer Leah Saint Marie.

Mercedes Bryce Morgan is an award-winning mixed Latinx director who made her feature debut with FIXATION which premiered at TIFF 2022. SPOONFUL OF SUGAR is her second feature which premiered at Fantastic Fest and will screen later this year on AMC’s Shudder. Mercedes has a BA in Film and TV Production from USC and has directed numerous high-profile actors such as Tiffany Haddish, Idina Menzel, Miranda Cosgrove, Hayley Kiyoko, and Billy Porter, among many others.

Leah Saint Marie

Leah Saint Marie is an investigative journalist turned filmmaker. As a reporter for the Innocence Institute she helped exonerate a man from prison who had spent 25 years wrongfully convicted. As a filmmaker she wrote the award-winning documentary, Price of Honor, led to Yaser Said’s eventual arrest in 2021, one of the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted. For two years she served as a field producer for the social justice documentary film company, Brave New Films, where she traveled around the United States on a Ford grant interviewing youth activists. Her short film, Good Girl, won the Paris International Film Festival. Her book of poetry, The Eaten, is being published later this year, she is producing podcasts, and she’s set to direct her next feature film, Teatro dell’Amore in Italy later this year.

The music heard in the background during this episode are other musical pieces by composer Robert Allaire, who scored SPOONFUL OF SUGAR.

Please rant to us about how you hate how the narrative and everyone in Anna’s life treats her. Personally I’ve grown to hate frozen and I love hearing other people’s rants about the movie. The only reason I ever watch 1 and 2 now is because the animation is stunning in both movies but hot damn if both of them could’ve handled Anna and Elsa’s relationship better (Christopher is still based though and so is Hanz before Disney decided to make the most stupid plot twist ever for no reason and ruin a perfectly character because we can’t show kids that you can be attracted to two people romantically but still only truly love one so I just ignore that silly little development)

H A P P I L Y.

So, I love Frozen. But I also hate Frozen. I was just reminiscing with my partner about the day my ex-bestie (the at the time Elsa to my Anna) and I went to see it and were like thisisamazing.gif but then came home and started trying to explain it to my mom and realized, while we were talking about it, that actually...it...wasn't really that good. We thought we loved the music, but then we realized what we liked was the opening song that stylistically did not carry through to the rest of the movie and that...while "Let It Go" was, removed from context, an amazing entry into Idina Menzel's repertoire of powerful protest/don't-hold-me-back songs, within the story it's a completely unearned moment. But that's fine, this doesn't bother me anymore. I still cry when I hear it because that's just what Idina singing songs like that does to me.

And the second movie is banger as hell, honestly, even if there are some aspects of it that I'd change. The entire soundtrack is good, even though it's not good as a musical, considering that it suffers from the same problem that the first one does, in regards to all the songs stopping while there's still like 1/4 of the movie left. And in this case, the last song is the most devastating thing I've ever heard in my life, but anyway that's ok because "Show Yourself" makes me ugly cry every time and I don't know how to explain to anyone else how funny it was when as soon as the soundtrack came out, we jokingly predicted the "Quit Playing Games With My Heart" style music video that the scene would be in the movie. People were furious with us when we saw it the first time in theatres because we were laughing so hard we were sobbing. (It's a dumb song, though, content-wise and actually diminishes Kristoff as a character but that's besides the point.)

ANYWAY.

I don't even know where to start with this. Anna is such a brave and loving and loyal character to what I see as an extreme fault and the story uses that but never rewards it.

Hans was the first good thing that ever happened to her and I don't care what anyone says, that twist is so poorly written because at every single fucking turn that they could have subtly hinted towards it, they actively did not. It's not good writing to just suddenly take the sharpest left turn and then be like, "Ha ha, audience, we tricked you!" Like, yeah, I guess you did, because you did something out of nowhere that made sense with nothing else you chose to tell or animate before this, cool.

Kristoff, meanwhile...okay, full disclosure, I did see the first movie like two days after I broke up with a long-term (abusive) boyfriend and saw a lot of similarities between the two of them, so I may have been harsher on him than he deserved for a while. But overall, I do actually like him. He is a very funny character and I think there's something terrifying that we're not being allowed to explore about how he was kidnapped by trolls, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a jerk to Anna for the first half of the movie. Just unpleasant and negative to the point that he even was like, "Well, I would be ok with her dying save for the fact that she's getting me a new sled." Like he says that. And like ok, he does chill out as things go on and has the decency to tell his creepy troll family to fuck off with the wedding stuff when he brings her to them for the purpose of trying to prevent her from dying and all they want to do is sing their dumb song about how sometimes people should just change for you and you should like them even if there's stuff wrong with them that doesn't work for you, idk.

It came to me at a time when I was not interested in hearing people preach about how someone who hated you upon meeting you could suddenly become your true love and all you had to do was put work into changing them and also ignoring stuff about them that were negative qualities.

The only passage in that song I really feel has any meaning is when they point out that people do bad things when they're sad or scared or stressed. To that point, Kristoff hadn't really been any of those things and was still kind of a jerk. Maybe stressed. I don't know. This isn't about him. My point is like clearly they wanted to extend that to Kristoff and Elsa, but not Hans? Who is maybe the most validly sad, scared, and stressed person present besides Elsa??

I'm also not as mad about Elsa as I used to be, either, considering all her trauma is also super valid and she clearly suffers from severe anxiety and agoraphobia, forced on her by the way their parents treated her. So, like. That's fine, I guess. But she definitely spends 90% of both movies dismissing Anna and her capabilities, despite Anna constantly proving both her unconditional love and adventure prowess until the end of the movie where Anna does some big heroic sacrifice and then Elsa goes, "Oh, you saved me!" like it should be any kind of surprise at that point!!!

Also, literally all Anna ever wanted was for them to have a relationship again and they do, kind of, for a few years, but then Elsa makes the decision to go be queen of the forest with the new half of their family they just discovered?? Like, okay, girl, I guess. Priorities and choices.

Also also, the directors/writers themselves have said before that they kind of hate Anna and just want to...push her aside in favour of doing more cool shit with Elsa. Which you can see in Elsa getting the hero treatment in the first movie, despite Anna literally saving the day. Again in Frozen Fever which is like...cute, but also supposed to be about celebrating Anna's birthday when really it just becomes about ~poor Elsa getting so sick~. Like, geezus christ, girl, sorry that performing even a fraction of the effort that Anna does on the daily gave you a fucking cold.

I see it in Dreamlight Valley, too - which is really fun, but. All of Anna's personal quests are about the other two people in her life - desperately trying to get Kristoff to remember her (he gives up his memory of his love for her for a spell to help save the Valley) and then being like "Elsa seems sad, how can I cheer her up??" while Elsa's quests are all about herself and like most of Kristoff's are helping new friends or taking a fucking bath.

And that's just like insult to injury, too, because for a property that wanted to spend so much time pushing the "true love can also be familial" agenda - which I do believe in - all they really ever want to do is talk about Anna & Kristoff together in like any other version of the franchise after the first movie. It neuters Kristoff as a character, making his whole personality/goal in life about being Anna's Love Interest AND it makes all the work they put into being like "Anna being so into the idea of romantic true love is dangerous and silly" just seem MEAN, since they ultimately decided she should forever be bound to a man she ALSO KNEW FOR LIKE A DAY. (AT LEAST HANS WAS NICE TO HER ON THE WHOLE DAY THEY KNEW EACH OTHER.)

It does help that Anna is queen now, I'll be honest. It's the least she deserves, but I'm sure if there's another movie, they're just going to be like, "Well, sorry, she's barely in this one because she's queen now and has to you know, just stay here and rule Arendelle, like everyone else who ruled before her did." OH WAIT.

Anyway, this is super incoherent because I feel all over the place when I start yelling about what I don't like about Frozen but the moral of the story is that I love Anna and I love Hans and at least once a year, I have to watch both of these stupid movies and be like, "BABIES I'M SO SORRY ALL THESE UGLY ASS BITCHES WOULD SAY THIS ABOUT YOU."

You really got me thinking with this one @curator-on-ao3!

I couldn't bring myself to pick just one, so I've narrowed it down to two, plus an explanation of why I didn't pick a third one.

Frozen II

I just really enjoy Frozen II. I honestly thought it was better than Frozen - better songs, more interesting plot - and so did my daughter. Idina Menzel, Kristin Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad are all wonderful.

As much as I love a good romance, particularly as this is a movie that's aimed at children I love that the most important relationship in the movie is clearly the one between the sisters, rather than a romantic relationship.

That said, I also really enjoy Kristoff and Anna's relationship. Kristoff is supportive of Anna without taking over or suggesting that she can't get things done without him. They love each other, but that isn't their entire purpose in the movie.

Oh, and Olaf is just so much fun.

Beauty and the Beast

This one is pure nostalgia. I was nine when this came out. I was their target demographic and they reeled me right in. I had the soundtrack on CD, I had the VHS tape, I watched it over and over.

I understand it has its problems. I obviously don't think being kidnapped and locked up is the basis for a healthy relationship. But I can still sing along with every word to every song and I can't help it, it just makes me happy.

Honourable mention - Brave

If I was trying to analyse which Disney princess movie is objectively "the best", I'd probably pick this one. Merida is tough and strong and doesn't need to be saved. She stands up for herself and her independence. She's a badass archer. Also, it gets extra points from me because I'm Scottish.

I do really, really enjoy it, but two things keep it from being my favourite:

It came out when I was 30, so it doesn't have the nostalgia factor; and

I love a musical, and sadly this movie isn't one.
