There is quite some gossip implying that Xavi may not be fully straight. There was a common consensus that Xavi and Iker the Spain nt and Real Madrid captain had something more than friendship going on which ended on a bad note.

Interestingly during the Mou- Pep rivalry era it was Xavi who called Iker after the 5-0 loss and when Mou found it out he did not like it. His siege mentality would have destroyed the Spain nt and Iker and Xavi knew this and tried to prevent it. However this phone call led to Mou trying to oust Iker from the club and Iker finally deciding to leave to Porto where he would eventually retire.
