Robin chose Steve. Robin made the conscious and deliberate decision that she could and would trust Steve. She already liked him! She had fun working and bantering with him! They were already on their way to being weird little bffs and the torture just expedited the process. Steve chose Robin just the same! He thinks she's fun and cool and likes her so much! He chose to be honest and open with her too, putting himself out there.

Even though their interests on the surface level don't match why wouldn't they share them? Steve clearly caves when Robin wants to watch a movie he doesn't think he'll like, Robin can watch a March madness game or five.

i keep thinking about the datamined conversation between halsin and minthara and what gets me about it is that if you side with halsin and turn minthara away, thats objectively the bad choice.

like at this point, you've rescued minthara from moonrise. you know now that she was being controlled to act against her will. you've gone to the trouble of rescuing her from her tormentors, and you've experienced what it felt like as they tried to destroy her mind. you know what will happen to her if you turn her away. and if you do, you're willingly condemning her to that fate. you've essentially allowed her to experience freedom, to regain her sense of self, only to tear that away from her again.

whereas if you side with minthara, and halsin leaves, that's the only consequence he experiences. that he's not a companion anymore. at this point, we've saved the grove, we've saved him, and we've lifted the shadow curse. we've helped him achieve what hes been hoping to do for over a century. leaving your party won't see him lose his free will. he can return to the grove and live his life.

the choice is essentially either condemn someone to a fate worse than death, knowing exactly what that entails vs not letting someone travel with you anymore. its pretty clear cut to me.

its just interesting to me that they've switched the morality of it around given that minthara is considered the 'evil' companion by so many.

I think the one thing about Wyll being a devil is I don’t understand how people can make the differentiation between devil and tiefling because like, devils aren’t one singular thing there’s various types of devils but generally they don’t have human skin tones, and they tend to have wings. Like Mizora and Raphael are half-fiends (cambions) and they pretty decidedly look different from tieflings. So when I look at Wyll, he very much looks more tiefling than devil. And you know, tieflings were originally like humans that were cursed by the hells or w/e, not unlike what happened to Wyll. PHB:

So I guess I’m just wondering from a meta perspective, like how it is that people can tell Wyll isn’t a tiefling. If someone who did not know him before he was transformed by Mizora saw him, would they be able to tell he’s a devil or whatever the game classifies him as, rather than a tiefling. Argueably he looks more human than typical tieflings, since he lacks a tail and pointed ears and various details typical of tiefling, and also lacks the parts that are unique to what you usually see with cambions, wings among other things. I use a mod to give Wyll a tail and ears and such but even then he still to me looks very much like a tiefling.

Wyll is my beloved and favorite character and I’m just trying to understand the writing around this ñkjññkhljgjh. I mean especially because during much of my first playthrough and if I hadn’t looked more into stuff about the game, I would have seen him as being a tiefling. Because the use of the term devil is also used towards tieflings in a racist way, like my Tav at numerous points is called a devil, so I always interpreted people calling him devil as just the usual in world racism towards tieflings.
