Christmas Countdown day 5 — Get caught under the mistletoe

“I thought you wanted to go to this party alone? You said that you didn’t want to be weighed down by a date?” He’s looking at you through the reflection of the mirror, his place at the end of the hotel bed rigid, as he’s dressed in a sleek tux.

He got invited, or rather his PR and publicist had arranged for his attendance, to the Christmas bash that took place a few weeks before Christmas. Ransom had told you that he was going alone, that he wanted to go solo and not have to worry about a date.

“Fuck, I’m just…” he looked away, his clean face and smooth jaw clenching as he looked out the pristine window. “I’m tired of being alone. I’m tired of going to these parties and leaving with some woman on my arm that I’ll forget in the morning.”

He looked back at you, his Adams apple bobbing as he inhaled and exhaled slowly. He was coming to terms with his self-fuelled honesty, his changing desires as you grew in your pregnancy.

“I’ve spent enough christmases alone and been to enough parties without a date, or shit even with a date…”

You paused while applying lipstick to compliment your dress, instead you watched his reflection in the mirror and the sullen expression on his face. Ransom was older now, approaching 41, and he had never once been in a meaningful relationship.

Everything was short term.

“I want someone who matters.” He was surprisingly in tune with his emotional needs, a surprising twist from the actor you’d met at the event, the one who’d taken you home to fuck and then dropped the next day.

“I think it’ll be fun.” You finished your lipstick and stood, smoothing the delicately sequinned dress over your growing baby bump, hands rubbing the protrusion.

“So…” you turned and walked out of the bathroom, turning in a slow circle for Ransom. “How do I look?”

He watched you, he looked you up and down from head to toe while paying special attention to your bump. His eyes settled in and he had swallowed thickly again, his jaw clenching and his hands balled.

“It looks terrible, doesn’t it? Shit…I didn’t bring another dress-“

“You look good.” Ransom cut you off, giving you a short compliment though it was the look in his eyes that conveyed more. “You look really good.”

“Thank you, Ransom.” You grasped your clutch from the surface of the dresser nearest the bed, and tucked it under your arm. “Its not to late to change your mind. You could go solo.”

“There’s always next year.” He settled his hand on the small of your back as he led you out.

“You’re hiding out.” Ransom hears your voice and he had downed the champagne in his glass, tempted to drop it from the balcony just to hear and see it smash against the concrete. The party was going on inside, the elite and the greats celebrating each other while ransom took to the cool and fresh air on the balcony.

“Everything okay?” You called after him, joining him outside instead of being among the famous people. “You’re out here alone-“

“I felt it move.” Ransom had cut you off, turning to face you.

“What?” Your eyebrows had furrowed and your lips had pursed. “You felt-?”

“I felt our baby move. When I put my hand on your belly…” Ransom walked back toward you, his eyes fixated on your baby bump beneath your dress. “My PA told me its about time they start moving.”

“You felt-“ your set your hands upon your own belly, feeling the same movements he had. “Ransom I didn’t know you would have-“

“Out of everyone in that room, and you’re the only one I keep being drawn to. Everything you do…” Ransom had gently pushed you back a few steps and then he cupped the back of your neck with one hand.

“I thought all of this wasn’t meant for someone like me. The baby, the girlfriend at home waiting for me…” ransom used his other hand to cup your cheek, and tilted your head back.

“But…?”

“But I want it all.” Ransom kissed you tenderly, he kissed you softly until heat erupted between you and then his kiss grew more passionate.

He kissed you to steal your breath.

He kissed you to steal your heart and soul, and then he pulled away and rest his forehead against your own.

“They’re gonna print pictures of this tomorrow and blame it on the mistletoe.” Ransom exhaled, warm breath radiating across your face.

“Mistletoe, good excuse-“

“Its not an excuse.” Ransom corrected you, brushing his thumb back and forth over your cheek. “I did it because I wanted to.”

“Ransom-“

“I’m tired of being alone. I want to spend all Christmas with you.”

Steve Rogers x female!reader

Warnings: talk of periods, specifically cramps, fluff, slight dirty talk, no smut.

The mattress dipped behind you, and one strong arm wrapped around you from behind. A hand brushed your hair away from your neck before you felt a warm breath on your shoulder.

You sighed, lazy smile on your lips. "Baby, not tonight. Please."

Steve gently tilted your face towards him, blue eyes full of adoration and understanding. "Okay," he whispered, pressing a soft kiss to your temple. The two of you shifted your positions so that you were on top of him now, your head on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.

You reached out to touch his hand, and he responded by lacing your fingers with his. His other hand constantly brushed up and down your back. You tried to relax, you really did, but the nagging ache in your lower back was proving to be too much. You had taken painkillers, but they did little to ease the discomfort.

"Steve," you said quietly, "are you good at back rubs?"

He frowned a little at the seemingly odd question. "Yeah. Why, you need one?"

You laughed, slightly embarrassed. "I could use one. The cramps are terrible. I don't know if it will help but..." you didn't even get to finish the sentence before Steve jumped into action, making sure you were comfortable lying on your stomach and asking you where it hurt.

He proved to be efficient at it - knuckles and finger tips moving in smooth circles and easing the muscles in your body. You heaved a sigh of relief.

"Feel better?" he chuckled without stopping.

"Oh, much better. I haven't felt this great in ages." You turned slightly to look up at him. "I think that'll do," you said after a while, pressing a quick kiss to his lips as he settled back into his previous position and secured you against himself.

"Thank you," you murmured into his chest, then looked up at him, "I love you."

"I love you so much more, sweetheart. I'm happy to help." Another sweet peck to your hairline.

You reached a hand up to his cheek, feeling the slight scratch of his stubble under your fingers. "You haven't shaved in a few days."

"I know," he sighed, absentmindedly rubbing his jawline.

"You could try growing it out."

"I'm sort of obliged to shave. I have an image to keep up," he told you ruefully, "but maybe on our next vacation..."

"Yeah, no, I'm not saying right away, but I am imagining it..." you trailed off.

"And what do you see?" he teased.

You scrunch up your nose in thought. "I see...a very handsome...lumberjack?" you giggled.

"Lumberjack, hmm?"

"You'd make a good one. Look at you. Splitting logs and pussies since the 1940s."

He cocked his head towards you so sharply you almost thought you'd overstepped with that joke. But then he burst out laughing, clutching his stomach as he tried to recover. You found tears streaming down your own cheeks as you hid your face in his chest. "That was so terrible. I don't even know where that came from."

Still shaking his head in amusement he rolled over, trapping you under him. "Well, I don't know about wooden logs so far, but..." he winked, his lips melting into yours.

"Wanna tell me where you've been?" You asked softly, not looking up from the bruised knuckles you were tending to.

"Not necessarily," a deep voice responded. It wasn't that he didn't want to tell you, but he knew once he did you would be worried and anxious, and he couldn't have that, not at least until the others were back. He looked up at you, his blue eyes, one hidden slightly behind a black eye whose bruise was growing darker, shining with nothing but love and concern.

"You'll tell me soon though, right?"

"Of course Darling," the biker replied, before lifting your hand to his lips, kissing your knuckles.

You still weren't used to that, knowing what it meant to this club, and how with that single action he was laying his claim. When the man before you, and his three brothers in arms, had all done that action within moments of each other, you hadn't realized what it meant, how serious it was. But now you couldn't imagine your life without the four men who had wormed their ways into your heart. There was nothing you wouldn't do for them, and they for you.

I just wanted you to know you are a saving grace to me. You are not simply just a writer, you have changed and impacted my life and brought me happiness when I struggled to find it on my own. Writers like yourself are heros when I need to be saved. You have no idea what that means to me and how much I appreciate and love you for it!

You have created a place where I can go when things are crazy in my life...when I have spent the day managing the ups and downs of having a 4 year old with autism. Or after spending a day having to cope with the hurt and pain that I feel for my 13 year old son who has autism as well and started being bullied on the bus and at school. Kids being so cruel to him that he has tried to kill himself 5 times and has zero self esteem now. You save me on days where my fibro hurts and my depression sucks more than I could explain...kinda like today. I read your work because you help me escape on those days and you're my saving grace in so many ways.

Yesterday was my birthday and it hurt because it went mostly forgotten by the ones I hold dear. Not a text from my brother or a call from my sister. I don't ask or want to be celebrated, just remembered on that special day. And when you feel unimportant to the ones who are most important to you...it stings. So I wanted to turn that pain around. Let the people who have made a difference in my life know how much they mean to me and how much I appreciate them. Wonderful, creative and kind blessings like you are to me. You are so very important to so many! Thank you for sharing your hard work with the world so others can enjoy it. Thank you for your dedication to your craft and creating such wonderful works of art. Yes I know it's just fanfic but boy does it give me what I need when I need it. Helps keep me going and something to look forward to at the end of an exhausting day. Thank you for all you do for me and many others! You are fanfic-n-tabulous and I love and appreciate you!!♡♡

CC day 3 and TOH. Reader wanted to enjoy winter landscape and left the nest and the house for walk in the forest. Ari thought that he could let her to be outside and enjoy beautiful weather and snowy scenery, but the beast inside craves his mate. He goes out to seek Reader out, but she will not come back without a fight - snowfight.

Christmas countdown day 3: Make snowmen/have a snowball fight

He felt you stirring and had tried to reach for you, his fingertips grazing the soft curve of your waist and bare hip. You had been trapped beneath him for most of the night in the nest/den combination he’d made for the two of you, only now getting free.

Ari watched you through tired eyes as you got dressed, taking a pair of his sweats and slipping them up over your legs. You’d tied it with one of your hair ties to fit better and rolled up the legs, all while you sleepy mate watched with unending adoration.

Ari had found himself falling back sleep while you slipped out, only being roused by his inner bear demanding their mate come back to bed. Ari had groaned and pulled himself out of bed, cathartically getting dressed and wandering further into the house from the den. Your scent has lingered but he hadn’t heard you, he knew you were likely outside and he moved as if he was in a haze, following his inner bear to the front door.

Ari turned the handle and slipped out when it was open, coming upon the sight of pristine and crisp snow with the imprints of your boots on a path. He looked around the front of the house, settling his gaze on the pair of snowman you’d built to the left.

One was clearly Ari, with his favourite scarf around the neck, while the other was you marked by small twig eyelashes.

“Mate,” his bear-like growl had come with hunger and want, “mate, where are you?”

He stepped onto the front porch and stretched his arms above his head, unbothered by the snow or the cold. His eyes were piercing as he looked at every square inch of the property he could see, looking for you or where you could have gone.

“Honeybee, come inside. I need you to warm me up.” Ari tucked his head and huffed like he had when he walked the trails as his beast, catching and focusing in on your scent. “I need my sweet mate to quake under me-“

Ari was stopped mid-sentence by the sudden drop of a snowball landing at his feet, the splash of wet crystallized water landing on his bare feet. He raised his head, his eyes narrowing when he saw you standing at the edge of the woods, laughing adorably with another few snowballs at your feet.

“Mate-“ Ari was cut off again by another snowball, another hit that caught him on the leg.

“I’m not coming in! Not until we have a snowball fight!” You called from the edge of the forest and raised your hand to throw another, your eyes locking on his. “Are you scared?”

“Scared-“

“Come on, you big teddy bear!” You let the snowball fly, laughing in response when it had hit him in the face.

Ari wiped his hand across his skin to clear the snow away before he had chuckled under his breath and stepped back toward the door. “I’m gonna give you a head start while I grab my boots. You better run, honeybee.”

Ari didn’t have to wait for you to dart away, squealing with the excitement of the snowball fight you’d been asking for.

Steve knows he’s just being paranoid.

However that doesn’t stop him from racing around the house, your name on his lips.

The two storey house tucked away in the outskirts of a small town Steve set up for the both of you. The smile that crept to your face as you tried to adjust your eyes to the bright sunlight when he took off the blindfold, priceless.

He sprints past the framed photographs that you’d meticulously picked out to fit the “aesthetic” of the wall. Bowls of popcorn you two had been too lazy to wash last night were still sprawled on the coffee table facing the tv.

He can feel the panic rising in his chest cause he can’t go back. He can’t go back to feeling how he did for five years. How empty he felt without you. How he longed to hold your hand and tell you how much he loved you. How he hated walking up to an empty spot next to him.

Taking a deep breath, he tries to focus and calm down. Craning his ears, he can almost make out light footsteps trailing up to him. It’s faint but it’s all it takes for Steve to dart out of the house and follow the sound.

You walk up the steep hill leading to your house, carrying a basket of strawberries that a new friend had graciously gifted you with. A friend? Maybe a new acquaintance was the correct term.

You could imagine Nat teasing you with her lips curled up into a shit eating grin about how domestic you’ve gotten.

Picking strawberries? Maybe it’s time you went for the monthly community meetups.

You’d roll your eyes, pushing back the grin creeping up your face. Get in a punch or two.

If she’d let you.

Two months. That’s how long it’d been since everything became normal. Well, semi-normal.

But it still felt like yesterday when you were on your knees, crying for Nat. Vision. Tony. His 5 year old he left behind.

It’d been Steve who held you tight, rocking you back and forth. His own heart breaking at the sight of you.

It was always Steve. Who smelt like that one laundry softener he always used cause once you’d drunkenly spilled that you liked the scent. Steve who always ate the yolk cause it tasted like “slimey goo” to you.

Steve, who was running up to you in a daze.

You let out a oof as he crashes into you, your basket dropping from your hands.

“You do remember you’re 220 pounds of just pure muscle, right?” You chuckle, nesting your head right in the crook of his neck like always.

You can hear him smile, his lips ghosting around your head.

But something’s off.

“What’s wrong?” Pulling your head back, you look up to his cerulean blue eyes that had you swooning over him the day you met him.

“S’nothing.” He smiles, his hands still wrapped around your waist, gripped a little too tight.

“We both know I’m gonna get it out of you.”

A deep bellowed laugh rumbles from his chest as he leans in to kiss your forehead.

“It’s stupid, really. I woke up and you weren’t there. The next thing I know, I’m back there. Back there during those five years without you.” He mumbles, his voice trailing off.

You place your hands on his cheeks, tiptoeing slightly.

“Steven Grant Rogers, I’m not leaving you. Ever. Unless Tom Hardy comes in the picture.”

“I’d just take him out of the picture.”

“America’s spangled sweetheart murdering an innocent man? What will people say?”

“That he did it for love.” He gives a smug grin, patting his chest.

“Ew.”

It’s a long time of you two just holding each other, before he notices the strawberries all over the ground.

“Did you go rob a garden or something?”
