Brief history of wicca
Tumblr media
A brief history:
Gerald Gardner, an English civil servant, novelist, and magician, is credited with establishing the religion that would become known as Wicca. Gardner, born in 1884, travelled much as a child and developed an interest in anthropology, archaeology, folklore, and, finally, spiritualism and other esoteric issues. He belonged to a number of groups and associations relating to his hobbies, including the Rosicrucian Order, which he joined in 1939. Gardner met other acquaintances who were members of an even more hidden inner group, and they confessed to him that they were a witch coven. He was inducted into the coven in September of that year.
Several years prior, in the early 1920s, a popular hypothesis circulated in anthropological circles about an old pagan religion that had been largely eradicated by Christianity but was still practiced in secret enclaves across Western Europe. Margaret Murray, the anthropologist who pushed the thesis, referred to the religion as a "Witch-cult," claiming that the remaining practitioners were organised into 13-member covens. When Gardner encountered the New Forest group, he knew they were one of the last vestiges of this old pre-Christian religion, and he intended to help assure the Witch-cult's survival into the twentieth century.
Throughout the 1940s, Gardner remained interested in a variety of religious and spiritual traditions and concepts, but his encounters with the New Forest coven had a profound influence. He eventually formed his own coven, Bricket Wood, and began to create a new incarnation of the ancient Witch-cult, drawing inspiration from a variety of sources, including the New Forest coveners, elements of Freemasonry and ceremonial magic, and the work of other occult figures such as Aleister Crowley and Cecil Williamson. Gardner's primary innovation eventually became one of Wicca's most fundamental elements: the worship of a Goddess and a God who were equal in every aspect. This was very unusual after millennia of male-dominated, patriarchal faiths!
Gardner never referred to his relatively young religion as "Wicca." He did occasionally refer to his coven members as "the Wica," an Old English name for sorcerers and diviners. However, the tradition was usually referred to as Witchcraft, or "the Craft," or "the Old Religion." It didn't become recognised as Wicca until at least a decade later, when it expanded to the United States and Australia.
By then, Gardner's disciples and other occultists had produced new versions on his idea, some of which bear little resemblance to the original Bricket Wood coven. In reality, many people in the UK who continue to practise Gardner's rituals as they have been passed down from covener to covener refer to it as British Traditional Witchcraft. These Witches see "Wicca" as something altogether distinct, often referring to it as an American creation. Gardnerian Wicca is the name given to the original version of Wicca in other parts of the world.
Although Gardner is regarded as the founder of the contemporary Witchcraft movement and was undoubtedly one of its most vocal public supporters, he clearly did not do it alone. Indeed, there are several notable personalities throughout Wicca's history. Many of his friends and colleagues participated in the partnership, including Patricia Crowther, Lois Bourne, and Doreen Valiente, as well as mid-century occultists Robert Cochrane and Raymond Buckland. Indeed, the complete history of Wicca and its growth may fill books, but the entire narrative would most likely never be recounted!
Furthermore, Gardner and others took inspiration from information, beliefs, and practices produced by various previous organisations dating back to the British occult resurgence of the late nineteenth century, and even earlier, to the thirteenth century. And those Middle Age occultists did, in fact, deal with ideas and materials from ancient civilizations.
So, even though no evidence for Murray's Witch-cult theory has ever been discovered, and no unbroken tradition of occult practice dating back to antiquity appears to exist, it is possible to argue that there was some kind of spiritual "lineage"—perhaps an eternal divine essence—strong enough to survive centuries of Christian dominance and reappear in modern times. Whatever the case, for individuals who practise Wicca, the experience is really timeless.

Character descriptions from submissions under the cut
Melody (Headcanon) She's Soos's long distance girlfriend from Portland, Oregon. She's a cute ingenue with more childish interests that really relates to Soos and his interests. But she's also down to earth and watches out for kids, with the phrase that I always think of her saying is "Soos, these are children," when Soos said that Mabel and Dipper would protect her. She also says that she's been on lots of bad dates which echoes the culture of ysa dating culture.
Doreen Green AKA Squirrel Girl (Headcanon) Doreen Green is a superhero with all the powers of a squirrel and a girl! She has fought some of the biggest bads in the Marvel universe (like Doctor Doom and Thanos) and won! She is able to communicate with squirrel and they help her in her crime fighting endeavors. It doesn't seem possible for her to lose. Doreen doesn't just beat up bad guys, she is dead set on helping them reform. Whenever she fights, she tries to talk to the villain about what's really bothering them, and help them find an alternate way to work out their issues. She seems to truly believe in the power of repentance and forgiveness. Plus, with her winning streak it's easy to believe she's got the power of God on her side

The allegations against Daily Mail’s parent company Associated Newspapers
Legal claims alleging illegal behaviour have been brought by Doreen Lawrence, Elton John, David Furnish, Prince Harry, Liz Hurley, Sadie Frost and Simon Hughes
Jim Waterson, Haroon Siddique, Ben Quinn and Lisa O'Carroll
Mon 27 Mar 2023 20.34 BST
Seven prominent individuals have brought legal claims alleging widespread illegal behaviour by individuals working for the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday between 1993 and 2018.
The Mail’s parent company strongly denies all the allegations and is seeking to stop the cases going to trial, arguing the individuals have waited too long to start legal proceedings and are relying on material provided by the Mail on a confidential basis to the Leveson inquiry into the British media industry.
On Monday night, a spokesperson for Associated Newspapers said that while “Mail’s admiration for [Doreen] Lawrence remains undimmed, we are profoundly saddened that she has been persuaded to bring this case”.
They added: “The Mail remains hugely proud of its pivotal role in campaigning for justice for Stephen Lawrence. Its famous ‘Murderers’ front page triggered the Macpherson report.”
They also highlighted how one of the private investigators cited by Lawrence has since provided a sworn statement that he did not carry out any illegal work for the Mail or Mail on Sunday.
Although the seven individuals’ cases are being dealt with collectively, each claim makes distinct allegations of illegal behaviour at Associated Newspapers, the parent company of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday – which are strenuously denied by the publisher.
This is what they allege.
Doreen Lawrence

Doreen Lawrence’s allegations are particularly damning for the Daily Mail. The mother of murdered schoolboy Stephen Lawrence, whose racially motivated killing shocked Britain, had long been seen as an ally of the Daily Mail and its former editor Paul Dacre.
She now alleges that while the paper was publicly campaigning to bring her son’s killers to justice – culminating in the newspaper’s famous front page accusing a group of men of being murderers – the Mail was also relying on private investigators to dig dirt on her.
Lawrence alleges journalists instructed private investigators to conduct illegal interception of her voicemail messages, tapping of her landline, “blagging” of personal records, the monitoring of her bank accounts and phone bills, covert electronic surveillance and corrupt payments to serving Metropolitan police officers working on the murder investigations.
Lawrence says she was targeted from “at least as early as 1993 (the year of Stephen’s murder) until 2007”.
She identifies four “unlawful articles”. The authors and date of each article have been redacted but there is a short description of each story, in addition to the information that one particular journalist wrote or co-wrote all four items.
The first article relates to the public inquiry into Stephen’s murder and “privileged information concerning the Lawrence family’s consideration of a second private prosecution and an action for damages against the murder suspects”. It is alleged this article was the result of the journalist who wrote it paying the private investigator for unlawfully obtained information.
The second article concerned the Lawrence family’s negligence action against the Metropolitan police and, it is claimed, included “confidential details about negotiations and settlement terms”.
The third article contained “sensitive and confidential” information about the murder investigation, including the decision not to bring charges against the suspects and communications with the Lawrence family about this. The particulars claim that – around the time this article was published – Associated paid a private investigator amounts of £1,777.50 and £600 for “confid enquiries” which “it is to be inferred were or included requests in relation to the claimant, and resulted and was exploited or published in the third unlawful article”.
The fourth article related to allegations behind details pertaining to the decision to bring new charges against the murder suspects, and the Met’s communications on this matter with the Lawrence family.
Lawrence alleges that none of the articles in question would have been published without “the direct misuse or exploitation of the information unlawfully or illegally obtained”. Her claim also says that the acts identified “represent only a fraction of the entirety of the separate unlawful acts committed in relation to her and her associates”.
As a result of the alleged acts, Lawrence is said to have “suffered considerable distress and harm, as well as the loss of her dignity or standing and her personal autonomy”.
The submissions state: “The claimant [Lawrence] feels anger, shock and upset, upon learning that the Daily Mail and targeted her through the unlawful acts and exploited her and her son’s murder through the unlawful articles, all of which was deliberately concealed from her both at the time and subsequently.
“Most of all, however, she feels a deep sense of betrayal. She finds it hard to believe the level of duplicity and manipulation that was clearly at play, knowing now as she does that the Daily Mail’s outward support for her fight to bring Stephen’s killers to justice was hollow, and worse, entirely false.
“The claimant now sees that the Daily Mail’s true interests were about self-promotion and using her and her son’s murder as a means to generate ‘exclusive’ headlines, sell newspapers and to profit. The claimant cannot think of any act or conduct lower than stealing and exploiting information from a mother who buried her son for this reason. She feels used and violated, and like she has been taken for a fool.”
Prince Harry
Tumblr media

Prince Harry alleges that illegally obtained material was used by the Mail’s publishers for a number of articles on his personal life, including details of his relationship and feelings towards ex-girlfriends including Chelsy Davy, Natalie Pinkham and Cressida Bonas. He also alleges the Mail’s parent company obtained details of discussions with his brother Prince William about how to deal with the release of deathbed images of their mother, Princess Diana.
Harry has alleged that the unlawful activity used to obtain these stories meant “he was largely deprived of important aspects of his teenage years”. He said friends were lost or cut off as a result and everyone became a “suspect”. He adds the stories were written in a manner that led him to believe those close to him were the source of the information being provided to the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, rather than the alleged use of illegal reporting tactics.
He also claims that the publication of information relating to his private travel plans “caused a significant security risk” and amount to a “major betrayal” of the promises made by the media to improve its conduct after the death of his mother in 1997.
Harry says the Mail characterises itself to the British people as a “beacon of truth and integrity” but instead the company “widely and habitually carried out or commissioned illegal or unlawful information gathering activities” to report on some of the most intimate moments in his life, including relationships with three former girlfriends.
One man was allegedly paid “several hundred thousand pounds” to target celebrities, royals and other high-profile individuals including victims of violent crime.
Another company, he says, “was regularly used by journalists at the Sun and the News of the World to carry out unlawful searches for example in relation to the victims of the 7/7 terrorist bombings in London”.
Harry claims he and other members of the royal family – along with a string of celebrities – were targeted with a subsequent “cover-up”, and alleged repeated “false denials” by senior Mail executives at the Leveson inquiry into newspaper practices.
Harry said he “will refer to the unequivocal and categorical nature” of denials through the years “as well as the aggressive manner in which they were advanced”.
Revelations that Harry had been chosen to be godfather to the son of his former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke were also the result of unlawful activities by the Mail on Sunday, he alleges, as were numerous articles about his longstanding girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, who he dated on and off between 2004 and 2010.
These “unlawful acts” included phone hacking, phone tapping, the obtaining of confidential information through deception otherwise known as “blagging”, and the use of private investigators to commit these acts.
He also alleges “burglary to order” to obtain private information.
A two-page redacted document puts 14 articles published by the Mail on Sunday at the centre of his claims.
Elton John and David Furnish
Tumblr media

The pair allege a copy of their first child’s birth certificate was unlawfully obtained by Mail group reporters before it was even seen by the couple, who claim “priceless moments of privacy” were degraded.
When the birth certificate was used as the basis for an article, the singer and his partner, a producer, say that they were “heartbroken by the derogatory headline that Associated [Newspapers] attached to it”.
The couple go on in their claims against the publisher that the headline was “clearly calculated to profit and generate public sensation about an event that they had so carefully guarded to keep precious”.
Their claim adds: “They are also mortified to consider all their conversations, some of which were very personal indeed, were tapped, taped, packaged and consumed as a commercial product for journalists and unknown others to pick over, regardless of whether or not they were published.”
“The hurt remains the same, knowing that their lives have been treated as a commodity and their precious, priceless moments of privacy degraded in this way”.
Liz Hurley
Tumblr media

Hurley alleges that a landline she used when she stayed at the home of Elton John and David Furnish was tapped, including when she stayed there immediately after the birth of her son in April 2002.
Hurley also claims that landline tapping and phone hacking was used to obtain information for a Mail on Sunday article about the fact that she had wanted a baby with her former husband, Arun Nayar, but only if they got married first.
A private investigator is alleged to have targeted both Hurley and Hugh Grant, her former boyfriend and still close friend and business partner, on behalf of the Mail on Sunday.
This included hacking their phones, tapping their landline phones, placing a sticky window mini-microphone on the exterior of her home window, bugging Grant’s car and undertaking other “blags”.
She was “particularly appalled” by Associated Newspapers’ targeting of her during her pregnancy and following the birth of her baby and recalls a feeling of vulnerability at that time in her life and the sense that, despite precautions taken, she was unable to protect her son.
“It left her sickened to see the snatched closeup picture of her baby’s face published by Associated when he was four months old with the new understanding that this intrusion was the exploitation of unlawful cts, deliberately directed at her with that intention,” her submission read.
Her claim goes on to add: “She now understands how very real the feeling of being trapped and surrounded on all sides by unknown enemies truly was.
Sadie Frost
Tumblr media
Sadie Frost leaves the high court. Photograph: Henry Nicholls/Reuters
Sadie Frost alleges she was targeted from at least as early as 2000 until at least as late 2010, when her relationship with actor Jude Law was regularly front page news. Her claim identifies 10 allegedly unlawful articles, written by five Daily Mail or Mail on Sunday journalists who are said to have regularly commissioned private investigators for stories.
With respect to an article about Frost and Jude Law’s divorce proceedings and financial arrangements, the claim says “Associated paid £2837.50 for ‘confid enquiries’ to JJ Services, which was for unlawfully obtained information and which it is to be inferred were or included requests in relation to the Claimant, and resulted or was exploited or published” in the article in question.
Unlawful acts allegedly carried out against Frost include phone hacking, landline tapping her home phones and other blags, through which information was obtained such as private communications, financial details and travel arrangements. Law’s landline was also allegedly tapped, including when he was having a conversation with a male member of his family to discuss the details of his divorce settlement with Frost, garnering information which was then used in a story.
Other articles which her claim relates to variously concerned her relationship with the supermodel Kate Moss, the welfare of her son and her health and wellbeing.
Simon Hughes
Tumblr media

Simon Hughes alleges that, after he was outed in the Sun for being gay in January 2006, a private investigator began to look into his private life for information which might be of interest to the Mail on Sunday.
The former Lib Dem MP says that the investigator believed he was in a relationship with another man who Hughes refers to as “HJK” and the private investigator targeted him “including by phone hacking his voicemail messages and those of the people he was in contact with, ‘pinging’ [the triangulation of location through the use of mobile phone data], and the blagging of his bank records and phone records [subscriber information, itemised bills and voicemail PINs] relating to the claimant and those he was in contact with and other private information”.
Information allegedly unlawfully or illegally obtained included the identity and address of HJK, which was then passed on to the Mail on Sunday. The submissions allege that the Mail on Sunday then wanted a photograph of HJK (and Hughes) so the investigator then telephoned HJK on his mobile number which was unlawfully obtained, “and through means of deception managed to blag his home address and then ‘pinged’ HJK’s phone to confirm that this was correct”. The particulars of the claim say no article was published by the Mail on Sunday because a bigger story took priority.

SUMMARIES
Whew that was a lot of routes, though 6 less than Part 1 which may be significant I don’t know, but anyway! Let’s break down all the familiar characters/people that we got to see!
Dark – It may have only been a white shoe, a hand and a piece of Heist dialogue BUT IT WAS HIM! YES! Him picking up the crystal from the dirt also made me have the epiphany that it is the SAME CRYSTAL THAT IS ON THE BOX IN HEIST! So did Dark use the box to try and hide it from Actor/Asshole(Hat) Mark who tried to steal it in the future (past? present? AGH) because he wanted the power to control realities and timelines that contained him? Listening to the song during the credits just before Dark appears could support this, since the song talks about being with yourself and that being the best way of things (I’m paraphrasing here) – ACTOR MARK WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?!
Wilford – WE GOT SOME DEDICATED TIME TO OUR DARLING WILFORD! Interestingly we seemed to have popped in on him during “Wilford Motherlovin’ Warfstache”, and we talked to the version of him that appeared in the background briefly and then ducked out again (re-watch the vid, you’ll know what I mean). He scheduled an interview for us for 30th October 2019 (on which date Mark happened to upload Heist) and then summoned a delightfully pink portal for us – ALSO NAKEY MARK CALENDAR!
Abe – PAPA I FUCKIN MISSED YOU! Ahem, anyway, he was instantly very happy to see us AND REFERRED TO US AS HIS PARTNER until the fuckin insertion of Noir Detective Mark, whom we saw in Part 1 (ngl I thought it was gonna get Gay) – MORE IMPORTANTLY! They have both alluded to us having baby grey eyes, an interesting specificity to apply to us? Could be a point to recall for the future.
Yancy – OUR SWEET MUSICAL BOY! Visitation! Seems like only three weeks had passed for him since he didn’t reference us having taken ages to see him – he’s been behaving himself and has actually applied for parole SO I HOPE HE GETS OUT AND JOINS THEATRE COMPANY OR SOMETHIN’ CUZ HE A DANG STAR!
Jim – JIMJIMJIMJIMJIMJIM – It’s Jim. What else do I gotta say?
Heist Mark – Hm. Suspicious lil man. A man who escaped prison because a whole section of prison disappeared, before proceeding to undertake heists at no less than three different museums. He’s been after the crystal but hasn’t known specifically when to look in order to obtain it, suggesting that from Heist Mark’s perspective, Space has come first, and perhaps Dark has been deliberately trying to keep Mark from the crystal? Also I am pretty sure Heist Mark is Actor/Asshole(Hat) Mark.
Heehoo – FUCKIN HEEHOO WE STAN!
Scientist Rosanna – But this time in puppet form, in an infinite kitchen. For her it was post the events of Heist when we saw her character, but other than that I think it was just an adorable cameo.
ALSO CAN WE JUST APPRECIATE CHICA, HENRY, MATPAT, DAN, ARIN, ETHAN, TYLER, WADE AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO PLAYED EPIC PARTS IN THIS SERIES BECAUSE HOLY HELL THEY FRIGGIN OUT-DID THEMSELVES!
OKAY! Now to summarise some important plot points! We now know that Mark built the warp core, but he built because from his perspective at the time he thought WE were purposefully destroying everything and so built a “replica” warp core with the intention of going back and stopping “our” destruction. However, because of the paradox being in place, this “replica” in one iteration of the timeline is zapped back and becomes The Invincible II’s ORIGINAL warp core. So, TECHNICALLY, it’s all Mark’s fault.
With all the times we pop into other timelines, it’s clear to me that “In Space With Markiplier” and our perspective within it is TECHNICALLY not within the main timeline – we out outside it with the ability to pop in at different points, as evidenced by seeing Dark, Wilford, Abe, Yancy and Rosanna. Also Dadiplier (imma just call him that) pulled out a number of stories from the bookshelf at the very beginning with familiar looking covers (like “Who Killed Markiplier?”), which suggests that when the universe was rebooted it loaded “us” initially outside of the main timeline, but I imagine because we’re a thicc anomaly we managed to get back, plus because the paradox caused by Mark’s actions hadn’t been resolved.
Also, I do just want to point out how this iteration of Mark in this series is very often painted as the victim, whilst WE are painted as the villain. I find that a very interesting concept, and that there are often instances wherein we cause intense harm to Mark’s character, which is something we’ve never had the chance to do before. Actor/Asshole(Hat) Mark wants to be painted as the victim to derive more sympathy, I am sure of it. On another note entirely… Celci. I find it curious that she is associated with cryogenics, the freezing of people, only because of the events that occurred in “Damien”. Frozen environment looping over and over, y’know, QUITE similar. Also Celci and Celine are rather similar names.
So, looking to the future, I am very excited to see where Mark goes with the plot. Will we, as the viewer, stop being a victim of the narratives designed by the Actor? I think Dark has been trying to take preventative action against Mark’s intentions to control all facets of the multiverse, whereas Wilford is kinda riding the wave of it as he normally does with these wacky situations (also I like that he is powerful enough to banish and bring out wormholes – he has capabilities beyond anyone else, methinks). Anyway, I want to team up with Dark smacc that Actor! And with that comes the end of my first look at “In Space With Markiplier: Part 2”, if there’s anything I’ve missed please let me know, and I hope this is helpful and/or enjoyable for you all to read! 😆💜

Lee Seokmin tarot reading -t.
hi guys! we got a request for this reading and we'll soon post one about jeonghan too. i will try to do my best since i personally am not really familiar with seventeen's members individually. today we'll look at dk's:
current energy
love life
career
future overall
remember, nothing stated here is a fact!
everything is for entertainment purposes only.
without further ado, let's get started.
tarot deck: quest tarot by joseph martin
oracle deck: daily guidance from your angels oracle cards by doreen virtue
[current energy]
knight of pentacles reversed, 10 of swords, death
he feels defeated and depressed because his life has become dull, he's stuck in the hustle lifestyle and he's trying to get out of this routine. he may start taking on new hobbies or try different things to try and diversify his everyday life. hanging out with friends more would be good for him at this time. i don't know if he's one of the more well-known members or not he's like a workhorse to the company, they might try and push him to work even more but he's already tired and overwhelmed. he's trying to take it easier so hopefully he will be able to get some rest and eventually feel lighter and happier because right now he's far from lively.
[love life]
queen of swords, wheel of fortune, 6 of pentacles
he's got his eyes set on a person most likely identifying as a woman, potential air sign. he feels this person is like a gem he stumbled across by chance or even destiny. he's building foundation for this relationship to grow and be worked on, whatever their status is at the moment. things are looking good for now. it's not too serious still, they need a bit more time. this person might not be that interested in dk as much as he is in them. but the possibility them getting together if they're not already dating is quite realistic.
[career]
5 of pentacles reversed, 8 of wands, 8 of swords reversed
he may get more opportunities outside of the group but he either won't take them because it's all too much for him or he'll do the work and get even more stressed. there's too much going on with him already, he doesn't feel ready to take on new work related things. there's also a lack of vision, he's not entirely sure what he wants to do with his career. there a few paths he can take but it's hard for him to choose and he doesn't feel particularly connected to any of them. i'm thinking of something related to acting, so for example he might want to star in a drama he's just feeling stuck doing only music. that's only an example though, it may not be the case. he should clear his mind and think carefully about what opportunities he takes on and which ones he passes on.
[future overall]
7 of swords, 7 of cups, 8 of pentacles
he's continuing working really hard, he's a literal workhorse. constantly doing something and that's lasting for quite a bit of time. he's going to feel unfulfilled though, feeling like he could do better and feeling underwhelmed. he might also hit some kind of realisation that makes him even more depressed when it comes to working. guys i honestly don't know much about the group but i think you should be pretty worried about this guy... seems like he's in a bad place mentally. he has serious tendancies of overworking himself and he's still never satisfied with the results. he really needs a break.
[advice from spirit]
ground yourself, cleanse & detoxify, notice the signs
first of all, he's in deep need to chill and slow down a bit. clear his mind would even help him in the long run so hopefully he takes his mental health seriously. he also needs to be more realistic and lower his expectations because he's never going to be satisfied with himself if he puts himself to standards higher than a normal person. there's also this lingering realisation i was talking about. i honestly don't know what it's about but it's going to affect him so there's even more reasons for him to cool down.
that's all for dk, at least for now. jeonghan's reading is coming up soon so look forward to that! feel free to share your opinion or make reading suggestions. until next time ❤️ -t

I don't know if you've ever posted about this, but if you ever feel like it I'd love to see the card decks you use and hear a little bit about them 😁 Which is your favourite, which is good for what, how you got them... I always hear good stories when I ask people about their decks! 🃏
I have spoken a bit about my decks in some asks but I've never introduced them all. All the photos are from online. I've left out some decks which I don't use and plan to give away.
Tumblr media
Ascendent Masters Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue was my first oracle deck. I bought it from Scotland very long time ago and it was my first introduction to oracle cards. Nowadays this deck serves for questions which are somehow related to person's life lessons and difficult lessons. It's quite heavy after being used for so long so I use it rarely. Heavy deck fits heavier topics. As all Doreen Virtue's decks (as she converted to her childhood religion), this deck is sold out. You can find fake copies from Aliexpress, which are the best you can do now if you want this deck or any other of Doreen's decks I've got.
Tumblr media
Archangel Michael's deck (also from Doreen) was my 2nd deck as I had such positive experiences with the Ascendant Master's deck. This is my most reliable deck and I managed to get an extra deck before these were sold out. I use this deck pretty much to all readings, for any topic. It's my most versatile and most loved deck - and it has a few funny cards! Like this Decide To Be Happy Now. Boy, Michael doesn't look too happy. It's also good for Yes/No readings.
Tumblr media
I'm not a mermaid person nor a dolphin person, never was, but this deck was my favorite from the moment I saw it. Magical Mermaids and Dolphins (also from Doreen) is one of the feminine decks. It's excellent for dreams, how to reach your goals, pep talks, for brighter energies. If I use this deck in the reading, it usually comes at the end of the reading to give a soft pep talk.
Tumblr media
I got Black Cat Tarot from @sunnysunflowers as a Friend's Day gift some years ago. I love its art the best but as I'm still learning how to use tarot, I haven't used this as much as the oracle decks. This deck has its own personal meanings differing from traditional tarot. See above how V, the Hierophant, isn't so much visually about preaching as it is a teacher and a master who provides those in need and doesn't try to eat the mice. The Chariot in traditional tarot usually asks the rider to decide where to go, but as you can see, in this deck the Chariot is taking the cat forward, whether the cat wants that or not. This is visually very interesting deck to read if you forget what the tarots usually mean and see what's described in the pictures.
Tumblr media
Halloween Oracle Deck by Stacey DeMarco took me a little while until it started to work for me. Nowadays, it's very easy deck to use and answers really good for questions such as what's the issue, what's the hindrance, what's the problem? I read this deck based on the cards and their symbolism than what the guide book says. This deck unfortunately has a creepy looking Mummy card I have taken out from the deck because just NO. Not that kind of vibe into my readings, thanks. It also has the most hideous werewolf I've ever seen. A disgrace to all werewolves (I'm sorry, artist! Q_Q) and as someone who has loved werewolves since I was 6 it pains me so much...!
Tumblr media
Gods and Titans, also from Stacey DeMarco, is one of my favorite decks. This goes very well together with the Halloween deck. This deck contains only male deities from different cultures and masculine energy, so I always use it for clients who want to know something related to their male relatives, bosses, sons, husbands, lovers, including the future partner. This is very no-nonsense deck and a wonderful celebration for men and the guidance you can get from men & masculine energy. Though that Barbaric Fantasy Thor card always makes me laugh.
Tumblr media
Angelarium deck from Peter Mohrbacher took me really long until it started to work. Turns out this deck needed other decks to accompany it. Now, when I'm more familiar with the deck I can use it alone, too, but this always shines together with other decks. It's one of my fave decks but it's pretty hard to use for beginners, so I would recommend you all to start with a simpler deck. This deck requires lots of connecting dots, intuition and seeing the big picture in small details. I got this from Thene, who was part of our Metal Gear Solid paintchat group long ago. She also makes oracle readings. It was a real surprise gift and I'm still very grateful for this deck! It even has Peter's autograph on its cover.
Tumblr media
Sacred Traveler by Denise Linn (a Cherokee by her family line) I got this from my sister as a Christmas present. This is very easy deck to use, very nice to approach, as all Denise Linn's decks are if you ask me. This is supportive dreamer deck, full of positive messages and lots of cards. As it's a traveler's deck, I always use this if there is a need to find direction for something or someone.
Tumblr media
Shaman's Oracle by John Matthews was a gift from @panimauser some years ago. It has worked really well and after many years, now shines as one of my most trusted decks when I really need to dig into things. It has lots of cards and all have photos of real cave paintings on them.
Tumblr media
Yokai Tarot by @buboplague is a gift from @lanelacy. This deck is an art deck I'm not using for readings as it's a way too precious for me to be damaged in use. As the name implies, this deck contains Japanese demons and monsters.
Tumblr media
Neon Moon Tarot by Pixel Occult is the best tarot deck I've had since I owned a Viking Tarot deck in my early 20's. This is so easy to use as we clearly speak same language with this deck. With tarot, it is important to find a deck which speaks the same language with you and vibes with you. Otherwise the reading can be difficult. This deck was a gift.
Tumblr media
Moonology oracle cards by Yasmin Boland came to me as an exchange with my sister; she didn't come along with this deck and I had a deck I didn't come along, so we switched the decks. This works for me and my deck works for her. I use this rather rarely but it always has good and wise messages to give to me. It has light energy and it's pretty straightforward in a good way.
Tumblr media
StarDragon Oracle deck is super pretty and a small deck but for some reason we don't come along that well. It feels a bit soulless and distant, but perhaps it has a long waking up-period similar to the Angelarium deck? I use this so rarely I was thinking not even including it in this list.
Tumblr media
Small Bunny Postcards. These are not meant for oracle readings but they work perfectly for divination, like any other tool(s). I read these by interpreting the images and their symbolism. These seem to be good in predicting time frames or time posts I should be aware of.
This is my haul from the past decade. It's that difficult for me to find decks I come along with haha.

who do u consider closer friends out of the GAW?
ahh, well, "close" is relative. GAW is a lot like family, in that there's lots of people in the mix and you don't really know all of them as much (or as little) as you might want to.
mind you, they're also comrades, so I'd step up and fight for any of 'em. Especially the kids. it's a fucked-up world and they need someone in their corner.
last thing: I have, uh. problems. sharing past events. so I'm scared of getting too close to certain people. you know how it is.
aside from that... wait, am I allowed to be specific?
I don't see a problem with it, so long as we make one thing clear: only a few of these characters are original to the MxTape. Everything else is based on my interpretations of existing works, and the original authors always have the final say.
MxTape Originals, aka Steal These OCs
Doreen Gray (alwaysbpositive): Met her because of my delivery work. She needed some ethically-sourced B+, and I knew some queer people with units to spare. Not like Canadian Blood Services wants it! Homophobes. Anyway we've been friendly ever since. She's got two moods: energetic and depressed. I can relate.
meatgerm: I've crashed on this man's couch twice and still don't know his name. Do NOT eat his cooking! He WILL prank you. Really good fiddle player, though.
Tanya Miller (twilight_tone): Extremely close! We are partners! Sometimes we even dream together.
Louis (WHEREISMYHOG): never met IRL but he's got some wild stories and a solid understanding of magical theory.
Penelope Gore (whistl_stahp): yo we've talked about this.
MxTape Guests, aka Upcoming Attractions
Desmond Callaghan (gothicalfallacy): really, really cool! Hand member. Fellow Jojo appreciator. Probably the only person I know who understands theory better than WHEREISMYHOG. Go-to-guy for questions. Too bad he's only available, like, half the time.
Judith Feingold (thisisstupid12345): Desmond's sister; also a Hand member. Barely involved with GAW, but she kept logging into her brother's account and bones said that was against the rules, so here we are. Not magical, but very, very keen on guns, so she mostly talks with _FuddruckeR_.
GAW Members, aka "Janitors call us PoIs"
bones: we got to talking after the whole "terrestrial years" thing, and as it turns out... it's not doing a bit! an actual alien satellite. That sorta blew my mind. bones is a bit short and perfunctory sometimes but I think it's just doing the absolute best it can with people it doesn't entirely understand, which... same, tbh?
acuterobot: adorable. following her tumblr blog got me in some trouble, but I don't hold that against her.
polaricecraps: ehhh complicated. I see a lot of myself in PIC, but he's smarter than I was at his age and that cuts both ways. He's in it for the right reasons but speaking from experience, that's a great way to shoot yourself in the foot. He also lost my fucking TAPE but I puked in his van a while back so we're calling it even.
Andressa (gaycopmp4) and Dahlia (hetcopogg): literally the cutest couple I've ever seen. Fierce, passionate, committed to justice... and, uh, their kid? pretty sure Heather (Ms. Mad About Video Games) counts as their daughter. I send them tons of care packages with how-to books and chill retro games.
Armand (harmpit): extremely funny, lots of cool tricks, really difficult to understand in conversation. Marginally easier in text.
kkrule and kektagon: drive me ABSOLUTELY FUCKING INSANE. They're basking in the low-grade background radiation of the Internet and they're going to get emotional cancer. I've been there and I desperately want to help steer them out of it but GOD DAMN they are insufferable.
opossum: even worse. Probably the single most abrasive person I've ever met. Always arguing. Banned multiple times but never perma'd.
FreakyGhostBed: doesn't get out much, so I installed a media server in his family's basement so he can keep busy while they're asleep. we've hung out a few times since then. we mostly talk about movies.
_FuddruckeR_ and orbhorse: live and work on a ranch in the Southern States. Fantastic hosts, so long as you can tolerate Fudd plinking at targets all day.
CommunismAnarchismNihilism: incredible source for zines and materiel, a decent percentage of which have some kind of juice to them. We trade stuff. we also argue a lot (politics) but that's all in good fun (I think?)
fallout_meta.txt: escaped some real nasty characters to become a better person. I respect that, and I respect their top-tier opsec, because I don't know a single thing about them besides what's necessary.
FunkoPopFan1: not very active in the chat (super shy), but extremely resourceful, good at manipulating plastics, and passionate about her hobbies. Sadly one of those hobbies is collecting funko pops.
tabris, hybridRainbow, starspark, chokerless and bluefootedboobies: I would ride or die for all these kids.
And finally, The Big Three.
Esther Kogan (lesbian_gengar): friendly in the chat but we haven't met in person, bc she has deep ties in Three Ports and maybe she heard something about my fuckup back in 2008. On the other hand... remember what I said about having a type? The type who could kick my ass? Well, LG could definitely do that. In fact she could probably fry my brain. Yow!
JJ (jockjamsvol6): this dude defies description. I mean yes, he's hot, and he's chill, but the second he walks into a room... you know you're in for some shit. JJ is always EXACTLY where he's supposed to be, and as a genre-savvy person, that is TERRIFYING, because the narrative flows AROUND HIM. It's like watching someone waltz through a hurricane; it's cool, but not super safe for whoever stands around gawking.
And lastly... Jude Kriyot (bluntfiend). The man, the myth, the legend. The guy who walked away from AWCY and lived to tell the tale. (Or lie about it, at least.)
This is where things get really difficult for me, cuz... well, I'm an anarchist. The idea of following any one guy doesn't appeal to me. BUT! there is no GAW without Jude, and once you meet him, you can understand why. He's got something special. Not confidence or charisma or whatever (he's actually a clumsy dork), but heart and integrity, for sure. He believes in humanity. He believes in something good, and when you're hanging out, you want to believe in it too.
That said, he's also a fucking mess. I'm not judging (I'm a mess too), but on some level, I like to think I'm getting my shit together. Jude is more like... uh, a shonen protagonist between story arcs. You know? He just sorta stews in his own funk. Depressed. Off in his own little world. Like Johnny Joestar, before meeting Gyro. There's only one person who can reliably shake him out of it, and... well, it's not me.
I admire Jude. I really do. I want to trust him with my secrets, but I can't, because he doesn't trust me with his. That's... fair. Trust is hard to earn. It's easier to lie. But when the chips are down, I've got Jude's back. I hope he'd do the same for me.

How are you? Are you more excited for Secret Invasion, Iron Cat (the Blackcat team up), or the Derek Landy Avengers title?
Hi! Thanks for thinking of me!
Honestly, I am excited for all of the above!
I really like Ryan North's writing and I really like his take on Tony, so I'm excited that his new version of Secret Invasion is going to feature a lot of Tony. (And, incidentally, if anyone else is missing Ryan North's version of Tony, Ryan North's podcast Squirrel Girl: The Unbeatable Radio Show is currently putting out new episodes every week and it has Tony as an occasional guest star; it's a scripted podcast about Doreen and her friends having a radio show and it's really fun.)
Jed Mackay has also been writing really, really good Tony content -- seriously, both of those annuals he did were amazing -- so I am very much looking forward to seeing what he does with the Iron Cat mini.
Like everyone else, I really liked Derek Landy's work on the Cap/IM mini. I did subscribe to All-Out Avengers, and until a couple days ago I probably would have told you that it was the one of these three things I was least excited about because I tend not to be big into the series that explicitly get marketed as an excuse for punching. But then I saw the one preview page from Saturday's FCBD comic, and it featured Steve and Tony calling each other by their first names in times of great distress and also Tony advising Steve to tactically go jump out a window and Steve doing it, so I am now totally sold on this, thanks.
Other upcoming series that you didn't mention: I'm interested in both the SamCap and SteveCap ongoings; I thought the issue #0 was a great team-up for both of them and I enjoyed the characterization. Also there was an interview with the SteveCap creative team and they talked about getting Steve back to his roots and also having him take up art again and also move into an apartment where he used to live and have actual neighbors again, and since that was one of my favorite eras in volume 1, I am really excited. (They also keep namedropping Waid's v3 which is probably my favorite Cap run.) So I am really hoping this run will contain things I like.
Busiek's Marvels series is winding up, and I'm going to miss it -- I have really been enjoying it. I love how he is determined to give us Steve the LotR fan.
Also it's not specifically Steve or Tony related (but they have been making cameos), but if you enjoy Doctor Strange at all, Jed MacKay's Strange run is one of the best I have read in a long time and probably my current favorite comic. The event Death of Doctor Strange, which you should definitely read before the current run, had an Avengers tie-in and a bunch of Avengers cameos and, I thought, some very nice cameos from both Steve and Tony including a very good h/c scene for Tony. The Avengers have not yet appeared in the current Strange run aside from occasional mentions, but as a Strange fan (and, okay, as a massive Strange/Clea fan -- which is weird for me because I'm not usually into the canon het pairings) I am finding it really satisfying.
(No, I have not seen the new Strange movie yet.)

The Primary NeoWiccan Differences
Between Traditional, Transitional, and NeoWicca, today there are a tremendous number of different Wiccan traditions ... For the most part the majority of them service the same core: They worship roughly the same deities in spirit, celebrate roughly the same festivals in the wheel of the year, follow roughly the same ritual structures, and abide by roughly the same system of ethics to an extent. But the particulars themselves (and sometimes entire details altogether) are different from Coven to Coven, tradition to tradition, and especially across denomination; along with the changing of the times, so too have the differences between Coven-Initiated and Self-Initiated Wicca increased especially.
So then what is it exactly that most often distinguishes Traditional Wicca from NeoWicca? This remains a deceptively complex question that can sometimes be incredibly frustrating to people ... On the one hand, as Thorn Mooney (author of 'Traditional Wicca: A Seeker's Guide') puts it, it can feel like a petty and unnecessary obsession with semantics; “who cares what words we use as long as we understand the concepts that they represent”? But on the other hand, how we use words matters, and how we assign meaning has very real consequences in the real world.
The word 'NeoWicca', then, becomes important terminology- and like all terminology it must be defined. Specifically, it must be defined in relation to Traditional Wicca (for without Traditional, there is no Neo). And here, NeoWiccan is not different enough that it’s another religion entirely. But it's not similar enough and doesn't share in the Mysteries in the same way, and so it cannot be considered another tradition in the way Alexandrian Wicca is a different tradition than Gardnerian, either. Instead, more accurately, it is better described as a different denomination. And what delineates it from Traditional Wicca the most significantly is the forever contentious baseline requirement of Initiation which gave rise to the Codification Era in the first place.
Traditional Wicca, regardless of whether one is Alexandrian or Gardnerian, requires, beyond all shadow of a doubt, that one is initiated into and works within a properly lineaged Coven that can be appropriately vetted within the greater community of initiated Traditional Wiccans. This conference of initiation from High Priest/ess to Postulant comes with certain oaths requiring secrecy. Thus participants in the faith are not allowed to discuss certain elements of their religion with outsiders who have not likewise been initiated and cannot prove their lineage of initiation through the proper channels.
By contrast, NeoWicca’s membership relies only on the age-old question proposed by Doreen Valiente in 'Witchcraft Today': "Who initiated the first Witch"? In other words, NeoWiccans are Self-Trained, Self-Dedicated to, and Self-Initiated into the mysteries of Wicca; the faith requires no Coven participation, no High Priest/ess to confer title or degree, and no oaths of secrecy or silence about one’s experiences and the things they learn. It is Open Court, and participation with (and training by) others is completely optional.
The validity of such an initiation is perhaps the most contentious point. However, it’s not nearly as much of an issue as people often make it out to be; to put it simply into perspective: Think of the longstanding tradition of initiation already found in Christianity and Judaism. In much in the same way that not all denominations of Christianity will accept the Rite of Baptism as valid when previously performed by specific denominations (i/e, Catholics will not accept the baptism of Mormons)? And just like not all denominations of Judaism will accept the conversions of other denominations (i/e, Orthodox and Conservative Ashkenazi Judaism will not always accept the conversion of Reform Jews)? Being initiated into one Wiccan Tradition does not automatically make you an initiate of all others; anyone initiated into Gardnerian Wicca must still be reinitiated should they wish to join Alexandrian Wicca- and no one who Self-Initiated as a NeoWiccan would automatically be accepted as a Traditional Wiccan. They too would still need to undergo the appropriate method of initiation of the tradition sought. This does not invalidate anyone’s previous or current initiations in any regard. It merely acknowledges each initiation ritual (as well as the experiences and spiritual knowledge conferred through them) as being individual and different. And that difference matters when dealing with a series of faiths who, at their very core, are orthopraxic, and for whom personal experience of the mysteries- and Initiation is one of the core mysteries- is paramount.
Which brings us to the next, slightly more nebulous, difference: The Coven itself; it's structure, the way in which they are approached, what its function is, and more.
Within Traditional Wicca, being in Coven is the default. Being a solitary practitioner, then, is often the anomaly. The byproduct of a necessity or an accident- something such as a move, poor health, or some other such issue- which actively prevents someone from working with their Coven. By contrast, while Covens certainly do exist for NeoWiccans, it is Covens which are the abnormality as opposed to the default; instead of working together in a Coven they are much more likely to practice solitarily.
Additionally, for Traditional Wiccans a Coven is a closely knit spiritual family which actively bonded through sacred oaths and shared experience and understanding of the Mysteries. Membership is exclusive and granted cautiously- typically only after a candidate has been extensively evaluated by all members of the Coven; High Priest/esses have to make sure that a Seeker is not only sincerely interested in the specific tradition of the Coven itself, but is also compatible with the other members ... NeoWiccan “Covens”, on the other hand, are much looser; a casually defined environment more akin to a study group or book club, an Open Circle, or some other kind of general NeoPagan group where people can attend (often at will) with minimal investment or commitment actually required of them.
While they are both called Covens (and that’s just fine), it’s important for people to understand that the term has completely different spiritual connotations and intent between the two denominations, and that needs to be respected and treated properly ... That isn’t to say that Covens never develop with the same closeness within NeoWicca, however, or that they cannot abide by similar formats. It’s simply to say that it’s not as common for this to happen- and that when it does, it’s not typical. It's also to say that it's considered a bonus when a NeoWiccan has others to circle with (especially in a Covened manner)- whereas in Traditional Wicca that is the expected default. NeoWiccan style “Covens” also still serve important functions for their communities and shouldn't be discounted just because the word Coven means two completely different things across the two denominations, and are often approached and formulated differently ... Being a solitary practitioner, after all, doesn’t mean one is (or has to be) an isolationist. It only means that the bulk of one’s ritual and religious practice is often performed alone, by one’s self. Covens of any format often therefore provide integral community gathering points and learning opportunities they wouldn’t have the opportunity for otherwise.
Covened or Solitary, another major difference is that NeoWiccans often have no specific (or “traditional”) way of doing things.
Traditional Wiccans have a vast lineage and history of ritual, experience, and- of course- tradition to draw upon. One that’s been handed down through skilled teachers- conferred from (and built upon by) one Coven, one High Priest/ess, to the next. And while there is always room for the modification and adaptation of these core ritual structures and beliefs, and no two Covens are exactly the same as one another even within the same traditional Lineage? Joining a Traditional Wiccan Coven is still to step into an already formed tradition.
Much of the information NeoWiccans have to work with, however, is from the Outer Court of Traditional Wicca; information which has been cobbled together from books written by Traditional Initiates, and which is based on what little information those Initiates have been able to can safely give out to others without breaking their oaths (or, in some cases, the works of blatant Oathbreakers); in other words, there are significant gaps in the mysteries, where oathbound information was actively and intentionally withheld. Thus, it is an incomplete tradition by default.
NeoWiccans must, then, as a basic act of religious action, actively work to fill in these gaps themselves using external information from other sources. And because they belong to no Traditional form of Wicca they are technically free to fill these gaps with whatever they see fit (within reason); whether this is done through personal interest in lore and mythology, or is based in their own Gnostic experience of the mysteries, is greatly dependent on individualistic preference- presenting NeoWiccans with a great amount of freedom as to what they believe and do, and who they do it for.
This ultimately means that the old Outer Court tradition of “Plug and Play” (where the holes in information presented to each Outer Court Circle was intentionally "plugged in" with suitable filler- such as using Apollo and Artemis as replacements for the correct, oathbound names of the Lord and Lady- purely for the purpose of education and use in the Outer Court; the expectation still being that these "errors" would, of course, later be corrected after their initiation) is still very much an active part of the formation of NeoWiccan traditions. Becoming NeoWiccan, then, is technically to create your own tradition in much the same way as the original Transitional Wiccans did ... A tradition supported by a solid foundation of Traditional Wiccan belief, true. But one which must still be further designed and built by (and will therefore be unique to) you alone, none-the-less.
It should be noted here that there is, unfortunately, a constant misunderstanding that all of Wicca is nothing but "appropriative nonsense" which snipes and decontextualizes other practices as it pleases. This idea is a lie that is greatly perpetuated within the mainstream by the rise of Eclectic NeoPaganism continuing to market itself as a form of legitimate Wicca. And while it's true that Eclectic NeoPaganism may have derived from later forms of NeoWicca- and it does have a penchant for doing just that (ages old orientalism, racism, and other problems, haven’t helped)? It is ultimately because Eclectic NeoPaganism greatly misunderstood exactly what NeoWicca was doing in the first place in regards to the tradition of "Plug and Play". Of Course, Traditional, Transitional, and NeoWicca are not free of all of these issues, certainly. And they are greatly deserving of much criticism in many regards. Yet significant headway has been made in correcting many problems across true Wiccan denominations over the decades. However, this fact continues to be ignored in favor of a penchant towards actively locking Wicca into what is essentially a 1950's time warp; refusing to recognize it as the living set of religions it is ... Based wholly off a false image that is perpetuated by the lies of a mainstream only set up to make money, and which is ultimately completely divorced from the reality of those actually living within the faith themselves. Mainstream Eclectic NeoPaganism cannot continue to be confused for true forms of Traditional and Transitional Wicca, nor NeoWicca, however. And this overall trend of refusing to recognize Wicca as a living and constantly evolving religion in general likewise cannot continue. It is both unfair and disingenuous.

Hey gang, been a while. I can see why Robbie always forgot about their tumblr haha. Well, quite a bit has happened! Like, a lot! I don't remember if I updated when this happened but I ran into Orlando in town and they were acting kind of suspicious but that's regular Orlando behavior so I'm not sure if it had anything to do with Robbie. But bigger news is I went out of bounds! Which was just as dangerous as everyone says it is!! I almost died!! Now you may be wondering "Doreen why the hell did you go out of bounds" I heard rumors about a guy who lived out there that might know what's going on, so I went to go see. Which was kind of stupid to do alone I know I know but!! He was real! He saved me from the weird creatures! I think he's related to Orlando, I don't know a lot of people with the last name Octavius. And his name is Otto Octavius! He prefers doctor though. I haven't gotten around to asking him about what's up with Robbie yet because he's barely been in this shed thing? For more than 5 minutes but I'll get around to it.

your url just reminded me of this little story. i was telling my mom about what ted hughes did to sylvia plath, how he abused her and destroyed a ton of her work. but when i intially said they were married she was like “she’s not gay??”. i was like no why did you think she was gay. and she was like it seems like most poets are gay. i’m her daughter and i’m gay and i’m a poet and she knows both of these things and she’s right tbh most of the well known poets are gay.
Okay but, all jokes aside, she's got a point. IIRC, her teenage diary entries (which are archived in a university, rather than appearing in the Unabridged Journals books) have some... suspicious? content regarding her sexuality. I might be wrong, though. Either way, the way Esther talks of Doreen in The Bell Jar is wayyyy too admiring to be straight, in my humble opinion.
And her saying that in front of you is hilarious and very relatable lol

Prince Harry: royals ‘agreed not to sue’ newspapers over phone hacking
Harry says he was conditioned to accept family’s view that they should not dare take on UK newspaper industry
Jim Waterson Media editor
Tue 28 Mar 2023 19.55 BST
Prince Harry has claimed members of the royal family struck a secret deal with newspapers not to sue them over phone hacking because it would “open a can of worms”.
Harry alleged his own family hid information from him about press intrusion and he had been conditioned to accept his family’s view that they should not dare to take on the British newspaper industry.
In documents filed to the high court, he said there was a private arrangement between the royal family, which he calls “the Institution”, and Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers (NGN), which publishes the Sun.
Harry claimed: “There was in place an agreement between the Institution and NGN that we would not engage, or even discuss, the possibility of bringing claims against NGN until the litigation against it relating to phone hacking was over.
“The Institution made it clear that we did not need to know anything about phone hacking and it was made clear to me that the royal family did not sit in the witness box because that could open up a can of worms.
“The Institution was without a doubt withholding information from me for a long time about NGN’s phone hacking and that has only become clear in recent years as I have pursued my own claim with different legal advice and representation.”
In addition to claims against NGN and the publisher of the Mirror, Harry is now bringing a claim against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday.
He alleges the company’s newspapers targeted him through a variety of illegal means including voicemail interception, tapping of landline phones, and inappropriately obtaining credit card records.
Harry said he decided to sue Associated Newspapers because “if the most influential newspaper company can successfully evade justice, then in my opinion the whole country is doomed”.
In the witness statement, Harry added: “I am bringing this claim because I love my country and I remain deeply concerned by the unchecked power, influence and criminality of Associated.
“The evidence I have seen shows that Associated’s journalists are criminals with journalistic powers which should concern every single one of us. The British public deserve to know the full extent of this cover up and I feel it is my duty to expose it.”
He said reports in the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday about his private life had caused him immense grief and paranoia as a young man, citing an article about a little known girlfriend from his Eton days called Laura Gerard-Leigh.
“It led to Laura’s parents being doorstepped which they were understandably not pleased about. This sort of thing caused me to try and keep matters as private as I could to avoid this happening.”
Harry is one of seven individuals bringing cases against the publisher of the Mail, claiming the group’s newspapers regularly broke the law to obtain stories.
Associated Newspapers has described the claims as “preposterous smears” and a “pre-planned and orchestrated attempt to drag the Mail titles into the phone-hacking scandal”.
They said the evidence was based on “unsubstantiated and highly defamatory claims, based on no credible evidence.”
Harry was present in court for a second day in central London to hear technical arguments about how certain information had been obtained by his legal team.
Witness statements from other claimants – who include Doreen Lawrence, Elton John, Liz Hurley and Sadie Frost – also set out allegations of illegality at Associated Newspapers and the hurt they had caused. Associated has dismissed all the claims as “preposterous smears”.
Elton John told the court he believed the Mail was “inhumane” and claimed it had dug up his personal medical records, as well as obtaining the birth certificate of his son Zachary – something he said was “abhorrent and outside even the most basic standards of human decency”.
John said: “I have devoted my life to my music but this does not mean deeply personal things which I have to deal with in private are fair game … The fact they did this to our son Zachary when he was a baby, just born, shows just how little integrity and morality exists within this newspaper group.”
Doreen Lawrence’s lawyer Imran Khan KC said his client felt betrayed by the Mail, who had previously campaigned on behalf of her murdered son Stephen. He said Doreen Lawrence had found the Mail’s duplicity to be “breathtaking and beyond comprehension, even after all the inhumanity we have witnessed since the night Stephen was killed”.
Sadie Frost said her ex-husband Jude Law believed she was leaking information to newspapers about her divorce, while she now alleges this was due to illegal interception of information. Liz Hurley said she objected to “Stasi-like surveillance” by the media.
On Tuesday the court heard arguments over whether confidential evidence provided to the Leveson inquiry by Associated Newspapers could now be used by the claimants in the case.
The Mail, which is attempting to have the claims struck out, argued the material – showing payments to private investigators – should not admissible because the data was provided to the public inquiry with a guarantee of confidentiality.
Another witness, the former private investigator Steve Whittamore, said he was paid hundreds of thousands of pounds to provide illegally obtained information to the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday: “It irked me to watch the Leveson inquiry and hear executives and senior figures from the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday deny that their reporters and editors knew what they were asking me to do was unlawful. I know they did.”
He said a number of those journalists who used his services and who knew the information he provided for their stories had been obtained unlawfully “are still in senior positions at Associated’s newspapers”.
Adrian Beltrami KC, representing Associated Newspapers, told the court that another private detective relied on by the claimants had now provided a signed witness statement “denying that he was commissioned or instructed by Associated to carry out any unlawful activity”.

There are, however, those for whom there is no other answer [other than to have surgery]. In my experience these people, both men and women, are asexual before they make the changeover and have difficulty in relating to others because of their own confusion which comes from deep within them. Once they have made the changeover, and they are what they have always felt themselves to be, their emotions are released and they become capable of a deep loving.
"Know Thyself" speech by Mrs Doreen Cordell at the 16th March, 1974 TV/TS UK conference, held in Leeds
Fascinated by the use of the word asexual here, definitely covering (if not actually mainly about) what we today would call "aromanticism" and the ways the conference/1970s attitudes towards TS/TV distinction takes on a pathologisation of various behaviours in an attempt to normalise the parts that individual activists/speakers related more to within themselves -- I am the normal trans, and you can tell because of xyz medically/psychologically measurable behaviours
I think this is a limitation that's deeply baked into 20th century trans histories and politics, which in no small amount came from the pathologisation of queerness (see how trans and ace are linked along the lines of mental illness) as a whole in the 1950s-onwards, specifically from the cis, white, male majority psycho-babble
It's important to unpack these limitations, especially as how they pertain to throwing others under the bus, in particular if we as a community want to better support anti-colonialist and anti-racist gender movements and our intersex siblings
The 1974 conference is an important moment in trans history, that undoubtedly contains within it a great deal of joy and community, as well as intersex voices (Miss Della Alexander was a pretty big deal in the UK community in 1974, although I wonder if some of her ideas aren't too radical even for today -- I think they're still very interesting and might share some of her words on here as well, they certainly make me think, even if I don't know where those lines of thoughts are going) but simultaneously reiterates or often struggles to have the effective words to challenge white, western-centric, passing-focused, pathologised, and intersexist ideologies
what parts of all of this muddle have we managed to challenge today, and what voices are we still not centering enough?
I do note, I know a few trans people who identified as ace pre-transitioning, as well as trans people who identified as allo in one way or another, and their sexuality changing with transition -- crucially, they didn't think of their pre-transition sexualities as a negative, but merely a part of their ongoing journey, and even if someone were to see it as a negative symptom (and I'm sure many do) it's not a generalisation of everyone's experience in the way one often risks seeing in some of these older takes (or... some modern takes)
(I deliberately didn't get more into the asexual/aromantic conflagration and pathologisation, because that's its whooole own post that I'm still thinking about as I continue to read the conference transcript. suffice to say, it's interesting to learn more and unpack a lot of what was said 50 years ago)

BLOG#3: Lecture Series Take away
In a fast-paced world where entrepreneurs and businessmen rule the world and are the backbone of the economy, it is just right and it is high time that we also learn about their world through a different lens. Through this lecture series, we were able to learn a lot of information that was very new to us. I thank the Department of Business and Management for their effort to make this lecture series possible even with all the circumstances. In line with that, I am going to share all of the things that I learned throughout the series.
The first speaker, Dr. Dumancas introduced us to the topic of Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer with 3 outlines which are the Legal Bases, Intellectual Property, and Process of Technology. She taught us different Laws and Republic Acts related to the main topics. But before that, she started the lecture by quoting Mark Getty saying "Intellectual Property is the oil of the 21st century. All today's richest men have made their money out of Intellectual Property." I learned that we receive lots of money out of royalty fees from Songs and any other Intellectual Property. I also learned the definition of Intellectual Property which is anything that is a "creation of the mind" and that it may be anything-- invention, literary, and artistic works. What's interesting is that the protection of IPs is based on who filed first for its rights. The patent was also introduced to us which means the government-issued grant bestowing exclusive rights to the inventor. Furthermore, she tackled the utility model, industrial design, trademark, and copyright. She also delved deeper into the most technical part involving CMU's trademark and fair use, and she taught us how to protect our original works through IPTBM and how commercialization works.
Let us now proceed to the second speaker which is Ms. Alice Caballeda introduced us to the start-up Ecosystem. She defined what is an ecosystem and later on, discussed what is a start-up ecosystem. I learned that the latter is a group of people, playing their roles, interacting, and working together to develop and support start-ups. Just like any species, a specific organism needs an ecosystem to support its life and to survive. The same goes with entrepreneurs they need the start-up ecosystem to support their business. The start-up ecosystem consists of many supporting factors that play a vital role. One of those is the quadruple helix approach to enabling factors of the Greek start-up ecosystem. The enabling factors include funding, government, networking and support, human resources, education, and research. With her discussion, I learned how to benefit from the ecosystem, explore and let it happen!
Lastly, for the start-up journey, ma'am Doreen was introduced for her to share her journey and experience. In all honesty, I really find her journey very inspiring. The purpose of the start-up itself is very good. She introduced us to the "VIRTUALAHAN" which is technically a matchmaker, matching companies to people with disabilities with a business model that lifts people out of poverty. I learned something very new to me, she stated the difference between a regular business and a social enterprise. With the latter, you identify a specific group of people that you would like to help. Virtualahan's main goal is to help. Their social mission is to end discrimination against people with disabilities, and one of their problems was they find it hard to find highly motivated and loyal employees. She later on shared their very inspiring success story, which is Grace. Ma'am Doreen shared how VIRTUALAHAN changed Grace's life before and after she joined it. Celebrating their small wins and recognitions which are the fruit of their labor. Subsequently, she discussed the technicalities, from their revenue model up to the power network. Highlighting their awesome team which was founded by Ryan and of course including their global mentors who all deserve the recognition.
It's good to know how one's innovation could change their life with that particular idea that they put into action. You really won't understand the impact of someone's effort until you see its beautiful outcome.

Key Learnings in Lecture 1: Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer by Gamaliela Agustino Dumancas
Key Learnings in Lecture 2: Startup Ecosystem by Alice Therese L. Caballeda
Key Learnings in Lecture 3: Startup Journey by Doreen Elsie Jane Gersava
Lessons Learned
Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer
Intellectual Property (IP) is compared to the "oil of the 21st century," emphasizing its importance in creating wealth. (Mark Getty)
IP includes:
1. Inventions
2. Literary and artistic works,
3. Symbols
4. Names
5. Images
6. Designs
Reasons to protect IP includes:
1. Regulation
2. Valuation
3. Monetization
4. Transfer
5. Ownership
6. Prevent competitors from copying it
Types of IP rights discussed includes:
1. Related rights
2.Industrial designs
3. Service marks
4. Trademarks
5. Utility models
6. Copyrights
7. patent
The importance of patent searches, tips for conducting them, and the duration of protection for each type of IP were highlighted.
Trademark and copyright holders have exclusive rights, but fair use can be a defense.
The process of technology transfer involves formal rights transfer for the use of new discoveries and innovations.

Startup Ecosystem
A startup ecosystem is described as an environment where individuals play essential roles in creating and achieving something is a catalyst for economic, social, and technological advancement.
Startups benefit from ecosystems...
1. Providing support
2. Infrastructure
3. Mentors
4. Networks
5. Right people to thrive
The "Valley of Death" is mentioned, representing a stage where launched startups struggle to cover operational costs with sales revenue.
Key components of a startup ecosystem includes:
1. Funding
2. Government support
3. Networking
4. Human resources
5. Education
6. Research
Startup Journey
In the lecture series, there's an example of a business that gives hope to people with disabilities. They connect these individuals with companies, creating a business model that helps lift people out of poverty.
Embracing inclusivity in a startup can open up opportunities to serve and empower individuals with disabilities. It's involves not just building a business but creating a positive impact on accessibility and inclusion. It might start with designing products or services with universal accessibility in mind, ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can engage seamlessly. From there, it extends to fostering an inclusive workplace culture, accommodating diverse needs, and providing meaningful employment opportunities. This is about innovation with empathy, recognizing the untapped potential within the disabled community, and working towards a more inclusive and accessible future.
Lessons Learned:
As a student in Entrepreneurial Mind, these lectures taught me to learned about various forms of protection (trademark, service mark, copyrights and etc...) for the types of IP . The talks on startup ecosystem showed me that the entrepreneurship is the interconnected network of entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, and support organizations that collectively nurture and facilitate the growth of new and innovative businesses. It encompasses the environment in which startups operate, fostering collaboration, resource-sharing, and providing the necessary infrastructure for their development and success.
