I love that they’re showing all the different types of love in this show. Father and daughter(s), brotherly, romantic, mother and daughter, etc

This show is all about love in the apocalypse, no? That’s the whole thing. Finding it in the face of disaster and rot. These people find, or already have, someone in their life to love through it. Joel and Sarah’s time was short, but he loved her through it. Joel and Tess were together for, what, 13 years? 16 years? And while we can talk all the live long day about their feelings and relationship and the deep trauma there, especially on Joel’s part, but they loved each other. Bill finding frank and them being together for 14 years(? That sounds so off). Bill finally being afraid because now he had someone to protect and someone to love. Henry and Sam being together through its entirety and henry protecting and loving Sam through it, especially with Sam being so young. Joel and Tommy. Though they broke away with Tommy joining the fireflies and Joel sticking with Tess, Joel still loved, and especially worried, about him. His whole motivation for leaving the QZ was to drive across the country to make sure Tommy was okay after not hearing from him for a few weeks

And of course Joel and Ellie. Their love being the heart of the show and a topic I can’t seem to ever not talk about. The fierce love. Them being each others best friends. Platonic soulmates. Enemies to found family. The i love you with every fiber of my being and would burn the world and shoot the sun out of the sky for you love. Them, two broken people, finding each other in the heart of the apocalypse and filling those respective parts of each other with the love they have left to offer. They give it all to the other, unequivocally
