#this is unrelated but I was watching a clip from the Junji Ito Collection anime earlier #and as soon as this guy started talking I immediately thought 'that's Mic' #and so I looked up the voice cast on Wikipedia and I was right #Need everyone to let me know whether being able to recognise Yoshino's voice instantly when I hear one of his roles #(because I hear Mic so much presumably) #is something to be proud of or just an indicator that there may be some underlying issue #(Terminal Mic Syndrome)

I think i might watch that new junji ito series…

#it’s made by the same studio that made the junji ito collection #which….. wasn’t very good #I mean when I watched it I enjoyed it but then in retrospect I realized it was pretty low quality #the intro song was sick though #but hey maybe this will be slightly better! #I still have my doubts though because I really don’t think that the style they use adapts ito’s style in an effective way #I feel like if you’re going to adapt junji ito into an anime you need to like… idk be a bit more stylistic about it? #and like not be fully colored #like the junji ito collection was too like drab and dark in its coloring #and the maniac series seems a bit too colorful? idk I don’t really want to form any solid opinions until I’ve actually watched it #find like a way to capture the painted sort of watercolor coloring in some of his colored pieces #idk that’s probably super expensive to animate #and we have yet to see anything about the uzumaki animation which is in sort of greyscale so idk

Mini-review:

Makoto Shinkai has definitely found his stride. He just excels at making these visually stunning movies that pack quite an emotional punch. It's true that his stories are rather predictable by now, but this one has enough refreshing elements to make it fully engaging, like the road-movie vibes that permeate the plot. Also, I really liked that the film went straight to the point right away, cause it hooks you from the beginning. And of course, the visuals are nothing short of awe-inspiring, but I expected no less of this director. If there's one thing I didn't like, that would be the age gap between the leads. The story would have worked just as well (or even better) if the characters had been the same age. But still, Suzume more than met my expectations, and I'll be looking forward to Shinkai's future works.

So I got obssesed with horror once agian and I'm looking for some suggestions on what to read/watch/etc. Any suggestions are cool: books, movies, anime, video games, shows, visual novels, anything!
