I came across the word "swaggereth" in a book from 1622 last night and felt like it should be shared with the world.
"Hee swaggereth, as though the whole Towne were his owne."
(source: Adagia in Latine and English, Erasmus, 1622.)

Detail of a fireplace at Blickling Hall, Norfolk. Blickling is a fine Jacobean house by Robert Lyminge built on the site of an earlier house. It was extensively remodelled in the eighteenth century.

I got some good advice from an embroidery youtuber recently for when you're learning new and intimidating stitches: Scale it up. Some Elizabethan stitches work by looping and working around previous stitches to build up a braid. It boggles the mind a bit. By scaling things up with a large-format aida cloth and this velvet thread (Very Velvet by Rainbow Gallery) and a big ole' blunt tapestry needle it makes it easier to see the steps. It's also almost impossible to pierce through your thread. Bonus: If you mess up, it's easy to take the mistake out and retrace your steps. Gonna do a few more lines before I move to a practice piece of linen, then the final project.

ZxTa's ArisDoublet TSM De-Striped (Outfit)
I love @zx-ta's conversion of the The Sims Medieval ArisDoublet, and decided to try my hand at painting over the doublet stripes, creating a neutral base for recolors.
isaax_ZxTaArisDoubletTSM_Solids contains 24 swatches of various solid colors. isaax_ZxTaArisDoubletTSM_Patterns contains 11 swatches of hand-drawn patterns based on various early 17th century paintings. But I am the most proud to share PSDs for recolors!! Both the original plumbbob buttons and a new style of buttons are available. I hope someone out there can put it to good use!
I used Academia gradients for many of these colors.
Notably lacking damask and brocade among the patterns, as I'm not sure how best to draw those. I may offer some later!
The mesh is not included! Download: Tumblr, or direct to CurseForge.
Download recolors at SimFileShare.

Malinard Manor is a luxurious dream home situated in Austin, Texas, designed by Cravotta Interiors. This spectacular project took six years to complete, with a castle-like interior and impeccable detailing that is out of this world. The inspiration for the decor and finishes of this dream home required research into Tudor, Jacobean and Gothic architectural styles, as well as incorporating the client's love for dark and macabre theater.

                                         The World of Lizzie Riches
“Lizzie is a Londoner by birth though growing up near Epping Forest gave her an enduring love of the natural world. Childhood visits to the National Gallery awakened a passion for painting and visiting Audley End at the age of five began a lifelong interest in Elizabethan Portraiture. A hopeless student at Art School, Lizzie preferred to develop her own style by going back to study the paintings she had loved as a child. She joined London’s Portal Gallery in 1976, exhibiting with them in Chicago, New York and Paris and continuously in London ever since. Portal introduced Lizzie to The Red Dot Gallery, close to her home in Norfolk, in 2011. In turn this led to fascinating project ‘In Search of The Golden Caroline’ – working with The National Trust in association with Red Dot, Lizzie was invited to create a series of paintings to celebrate an aspect of Blickling Hall’s history. Lizzie explored, through her paintings, Lady Caroline Suffield and in doing so ‘brought to life’ an 1800’s chapter.”
Sample Works:
1. The Plant Collector
2.  The Gardener's Assistant

Just discovered these lines by John Webster from The Duchess of Malfi:
Whether we fall by ambition, blood, or lust,
like diamonds we are cut with our own dust.
That's what I call metal.
Also:
A politician is the devil's quilted anvil;
He fashions all sins on him, and the blows are never heard
Um. Hello?? Goddamn??
