STICK WITH THE WINNERS, 11/19/2023
"When the character of a person is not clear to you, look at their friends." Japanese Proverb
Tumblr media
I've learned in recovery that there are persons, places, or things I need to stay away from if I want to maintain my recovery. It's not that I am prone to slipping (which is always a possibility, and never say never, but a possibility I prefer not to entertain), but I find that if I spend my time with healthier people, healthier places, and healthier situations, I'm less likely to be driven to drink. I'll admit I don't attend Twelve Step meetings much anymore. I would like to, but got turned off when many in the meetings I attended refused to mask up during the heady days of the pandemic. That told me, "You're not important enough" for them, so I took my sobriety home. I don't hold grudges. I just watch where I go. On top of that, I know my Stunt Double du Jour's got my back, and I've got his.
