btw regarding the discord thing: there are also other issues coming up with how people already try to monopolize usersnames they don’t intend for financial gain (see: kinnies on tumblr selling urls for upwards of 200 usd) which may result in an excess of throwaway accounts to hoard these usernames. additionally, without the number discriminator, there is also the issue of random people being able to identify & add you -- which, sure! you can change security so no one can send you frqs unless you share a server, but would you really turn that off every time an irl asks for your discord to contact you? or you may need to change your username... but quite honestly you shouldn’t have to change your username just to avoid harassment or unknown people suddenly contacting you. it’s ridiculous.

in light of new changes: do not give tumblr your money if you disapprove of what they are doing to this site, this encourages them to continue implementing changes at the expense of their userbase. use the feedback feature on /support to submit complaints, as attempting to mention staff/humans/any personal blogs from there may be falsely flagged as harassment (lest we forget partyjockers) & tank their ratings on apps stores with your same complaints over the new features they are implementing. please, feel free to bring up their insensitivity to disabled people regarding visual overload or epilepsy; tumblr live making it a dangerous place for american individuals, especially kids, as it shares their location and there is no permanent way to turn it off; instances of transphobic or racist harassment that has gone unmoderated despite reports; or of the fascist problem they have on here, which they do not censor in the least. they have the ability to make tags unsearchable and completely erase posts, yet never apply it to these violent groups. there is so much they could be doing, which the majority of the userbase has requested they work on, yet they refuse to. make your complaining productive and share it where it'll actually be heard.

i'm trying my damnedest to not hyperfixate on demon sIayer yet but it's so hard you guys. i need to finish writing my ytd projects before i can get into kny so i can actually direct all attention there but. clenches fist. the desire to read the manga is so damn tempting

honestly, i dislike shipping without substance as much as anyone does. i adore picking apart characters and love worldbuilding more than anything else in the creative field -- but i think it's incredibly unnecessary to be as hostile as i've seen people be toward the recent uptick in dunmeshi interest (as if people are advertising it solely for the lesbianism). even if that were the only case drawing fans in, there are plenty of other games and shows that have been praised/offered up for (at most - implied) gay men & from that, posts that have the gag be "what do you MEAN there's murder in my gay show/game/etc.!" as an indicator that's been their first and only impression.

i haven't seen nearly as many people critique such incidents with disco elysium, for example, despite that being my own first impression due to the surface art i've seen (whereupon only searching for a game summary i realized there was so, so much more). i really don't see why we're suddenly so scandalized and concerned that people are overly excited to praise an interesting (if romantic) dynamic with two main girl characters - which feels rare for a lot of trending media in the first place.
