what are your favorite songs/artists of 2023? don't have to be new this year, just, what have you been listening to?

Been listening to a ton of Wilco this month actually, particularly their album Summerteeth.

Listened to a ton of Thrice with their re-recorded version of The Artist in the Ambulance.

A ton of blink-182, love their new album. Anthem Pt. 3 is a banger.

Closure in Moscow!!! Their record First Temple is post-hardcore goodness. The melodies are so catchy and the guitar riffs are sick as hell. Their new album Soft Hell is also super dope, came out a few months ago.

Softcult is really good, I love their song Spoiled.

Got into Idles this year, they have a new album coming in 2024. I listened to a bunch of CRAWLER this year.

Laufey is really something else, her song Fragile is so beautiful.

Hotline TNT came out with a record called Cartwheel which is dope. They're like a shoegaze band that refuses to use pedals. Don't quote me on that lmao. I vaguely remember reading that in an article.

Cave World by Viagra Boys has a bunch of catchy tunes with a really interesting vocalist.

All Get Out released their self titled album this year. If you're looking for some heartfelt band-songwriter tunes with a sound like you're in the room with them, then check out that album.

Oh man how could I forget about the compilation album Heatmiser released. They're the last band Elliott Smith was in before he went solo. Lots of sick bar rock tunes there. Lowlife fucking rips.

'68's new album "Yes and..." will tear you a new one. Sick riffs, awesome drumming. Met the drummer earlier in the fall when I saw them open for Thrice, super nice dude.

Hidden Orchestra's new album "To Dream is to Forget" has a lot of chill tunes with great percussion and production. They've been one of my favorites for a few years.

Speedy Ortiz's new album "Rabbit Rabbit" has a lot of great guitar driven songs. Very strange chord progressions and Sadie's voice is as clear as ever. This record reminds me a lot of their first album so its nice that they went a little more towards that sound again.

God Made me an Animal by Better Lovers will literally rip you to shreds. The riffs on that 4 song ep are insane.

Everything Harmony by The Lemon Twigs has some of the best songwriting I've heard all year. Very reminiscent of The Beatles, The Eagles, and the Bee Gees, with a touch of modern songwriting like Fleet Foxes. Highly recommend this one.

Scaring the Hoes by JPEG Mafia and Danny Brown is some of the best hip-hop I've heard in a few years.

absolute masterpiece. Read in one sitting, even though it's still updating. Can only recommend. This story is batteling with Idolistic for first place.
