It's a typical Bikini Bottom Day when the thought first hits him. And it does HIT him. Like being run over like a freight train. He hates the thought, wishing his evil genius giant brain could forget it ever happened. But once the thought is in there, it won't leave. The more he tries to pretend it never crossed his mind, the more it pops up, until suddenly nothing but that blasted little thought is playing on an incessant loop.
Karen could tell something was up. Of course she could. She could read him like a picture book meant for toddlers. But as far as he could tell, Karen couldn’t quite tell what was running through his mind, which only served to make this burden even more...well...burdensome. It’s not exactly like he could just tell her.
And so he withdraws. It starts with speaking to her only as needed, short, one syllable answers. Sleeping with his back turned.
And then even that becomes too much. So he ignores her entirely. He actively avoids her. He sleeps on the couch, despite her, admittedly, passive aggressive invitation to “stop being a baby and come back to bed” on the second night.
It’s on the fourth night on the couch, when Karen assumes he’s asleep, that he realizes he can’t hold it in anymore. He can’t keep ignoring the thought. He can’t keep ignoring her. As she gently throws a fuzzier blanket on top of him, placing a sweet little kiss on his forehead, fingers lovingly combing through his hair for a moment before she went back to bed. Sheldon J Plankton knew he was in deep, and he knew there was only one way out, despite his own stupid heart screaming about how badly he didn’t want this. Since when did he listen to his heart anyway? Time to listen to his evil genius giant brain again. Even if it did mean...the literal absolute last thing he wanted.
So the next day he gets up, dragging his feet through the day for the evening he never wanted to come. Dreading what was about to transpire. He gently knocked on the door to the lab, despite his usual ease barging in there and dumping whatever was on his mind to Karen without warning. He could hear a small “hmm?” as Karen swiveled in her computer chair, making her way to meet him towards the door.
“I made dinner.” he couldn’t look up at her, opting instead to stare at his reflection in her shiny silver boots. “Join me?”
Dishes clanked in relative silence before Karen finally admitted. “I’m surprised you did all this. You’ve been...distant, lately. Almost felt like you were...gone.”
With a quick of his eyebrow and a smirk, he questioned “Did you think I was gone forever?”
“I was so worried about you.” her voice was uncharacteristically quiet. “I love you so much. You mean everything to me.”
Swallowing both his dinner and the lump forming in his throat, Plankton nodded slowly. “Karen, sweetheart, I...I...this is much harder to say than I thought it was going to be.”
Expecting an apology, Karen sighed “Spit it out, Sheldon.”
“Divorce.”
Once he blurted it out, the word hung in the air, like a heavy fog over them, zapping any witty retort Karen may have had loaded off of her tongue.
“What?”
“Divorce.” He repeated, his voice shaky, but still confident with his assertation of “I think we should-”
“Who are they?!?” Karen immediately snapped. “Who’s better than me?!? Who do you want to leave me for?!? Do you think they’ll stand by and support you the way I have for-”
“N-no one!” Plankton gasped, but he was at least being honest. “I’m...” he sighed, looking down to his food again, afraid to look at her directly as he admitted “I’m not the one who could do better here, baby.”
“Sheldon,” she rolled her eyes dramatically “respectfully, what the fuck are you talking about?”
Reaching a hand across the table, gently lacing her fingers with his, he explained. “I’m holding you back. You don’t belong here. There is so much more you could be doing, but instead, you waste your time and talent waiting up on me and my constantly thwarted plans-”
“Because I love you.”
Well. Plankton wasn’t quite sure what to say to that. It wasn’t exactly news. They’d been married 22 years. They’d both said it dozens if not hundreds of times before. But in his recent spiral of thinking how he’d basically caged her in, he never once thought she was staying...because of love.
He was only shaken out of his thoughts as Karen squeezed his hand tighter, questioning “What’s wrong, honey? Do you not love-”
“Of course I love you!” he blurted out immediately, reaching his other hand across the table to sandwich hers in a clasp. “Because I love you, I...I want you to thrive, and be happy, and-”
“I am happy.”
With a long sigh and a pointed look, he muttered “Karen...”
“Hey!” she asserted, reaching her free hand to cup his chin, bringing him closer, to look her in the eye as she stated “I am happy. I’m happy. I love you. Okay?”
Plankton nodded, slowly, unsure of what to say or do or even think. “And you wouldn’t be happier making better use of your time and talent somewhere else?”
“Not unless you were there with me. Annoying me.” she smirked.
Eye starting to well with tears, he let out a heartfelt “Baby...”
“Hey, I mean it, ok?”
Nodding again, he let out a shaky “Ok.” and then a decidedly less shaky “I love you.”
“I know.” she smiled, before turning back to her food, mouth half full as she muttered “Though I might love you more if you cooked for me more often.”
“You’re the only person in town who gives me rave reviews, you know.” he teased.
“Well maybe if you hadn’t opened your big mouth about the hypnosis scheme-”
“Are you forgetting we didn’t actually have an escape pod-”

Karen would like to speak to your manager.
Karen is a woman who knows what she wants, when she wants it, and she will get it by whatever means necessary. Her real name is not, in fact, Karen, but she felt such a kinship with the meme she decided to make it her own, and had her name legally changed.
She grew up in a household with a single mother who strove to impart her vast knowledge upon her only daughter, and Karen absorbed it like a sponge. They weren’t well off, and her mother had to scrounge for every penny she made, and coupons were her best friends. Who ever heard of an expired coupon or a sale with an end date? Not Karen’s mother, and certainly not Karen herself!
Not caring one bit about the opinions or feelings of others, Karen has been accused of being a bit psychopathic. Not that she cares. Her favorite thing is money and getting her way. She will say anything, do anything, and step on anyone to get her way. You want to donate money to a charity? Well, it just so happens that Karen just started one! Did she mention her new start-up company that needs money? Oh dear, her coupon has expired but she only just got it in the mail today, someone needs to make this right, and if they don’t, well she just so happens to work as a critic for a well established blog, and it would just be too bad if a scathing article were to appear on said blog overnight...
Most of her money has been made by scrounging every penny and manipulating suckers- I mean, poor witless victims into donating to her many, many causes. Not to mention all of the times she’s managed to bully some overworked, stressed out customer service worker into giving her some kind of discount, just because of some master bullshitting on her part. (”My package never arrived. I demand a replacement.” “Are you kidding me, the second package never arrived either, I demand a refund for both AND a promotional credit on my account for this inconvenience!”)
And well, to Karen, nothing beats some good old fashioned schadenfreude.

Oh goodness, I didn’t mean to write that much, but I wanted to get her personality across lmao. I actually made her months before I even became a simblr when I thought it’d be funny to make a Karen meme sim, and when I saw your Black Widow challenge I thought she’d be perfect. “You’re too late.” Plankton sulked.
With a slight pout, Karen questioned “Whaddya mean?”
“My plan is already foiled!” he cried dramatically, throwing himself on the couch.
“Two things.” she replied blandly, sitting down next to him. “One, how can I be late if I did not have a part in this particular scheme?”
“Too late to come rescue me!” he lamented, as though it was obvious.
“Alright.” she rolled her eyes. “Second point...your plan?”
With a groan, he tossed his head on her shoulder “You know that’s not what I meant.”
“Well it’s what you said.” she deadpanned.
“Baby...” he moaned theatrically, leaving a light peck under her “You know I meant our plan. I love scheming with you.”
“Well then...” her tone was coy as she ran a finger up and down his bicep. “...why don’t we get scheming on a new plan right now?”
“You...you mean it?”
“Of course.” she said with a small smile, giving him a quick kiss. “I love scheming with you, too.”
