Gion Kobu had the lion’s share of erikae with five but only one misedashi and one return. They also had five retirements (technically four retirements and one death), so they end the year on a +2. Pontocho continues its good streak with two misedashi, no erikae, yet no quitting, so they end this year on a +2. Kamishichiken had a positive year for once, with three misedashi, one erikae, yet two retirements. This also gave them a great score of +2. Miyagawa Cho had a much better showing than last year! With four misedashi, two erikae, but four retirements, they also ended up with a +2. Gion Higashi had one of everything this year; one misedashi, one erikae, and one retirement, leaving them with a score of +1. Overall, this is the first year that I’ve been tracking that I’ve seen all five kagai come up in the positive! There was no definitive winner or loser either (technically Gion Higashi lost, but they remained positive, so that’s a win). The number of retirements was also way down from last year, which is a hopeful sign that the karyukai is beginning to bounce back from the pandemic ^^

Hey! Happy holidays! Sorry if you've been asked this before, but do you have any recommendations for fics that rewrite/do justice to Bakugo and/or MHA?

My go-to fic when talking about fics which make Katsuki a fully fledged character is Viridescent. Now, Izuku does have a quirk here and Katsuki is his friend, but the fic does so well on exploring his inferiority complex and the fear he feels when he can’t “hit things to solve his problems”. It’s one of the most popular MHA fics out there so most people probably already know of it, but it seriously deserves a mention for its fantastic writing, especially regarding Katsuki. IzuOcha and KatsuMomo are in the fic, and despite me despising all Katsuki ships, the Katsuki in this fic is honest to god a fantastic character and the author makes the ship work so well.

Confession is another fantastic fic, one where the bullying is bought to light via Izuku sleep talking. When Class 1-A finds out, they shun him/have Izuku learn that there was no reason for Katsuki to have done all that he’s done, and the ending is a reimagining of Kacchan vs Deku 2, except instead of it being about Katsuki crying about “ending All Might”, it’s him angry at himself for the “swan dive” comment and everything else he has done. It’s what Kacchan vs Deku 2 should’ve been. There’s a hint of IzuMina in it, but it doesn’t affect the plot in any way.

Some bakumomo headcanons: study dates

They have these study dates where momo would just find him alone and reading his notes silently (which was a surprise) at the library and he'd let her join him if she was quiet enough

momo is the only one who knows bakugou likes to listen to classical music when he studies (because it helps him concentrate and "classical music is fucking amazing, its the only music that has canons and shit that explodes")

momo is also the only one bakugou is willing to share his music/earphones to (she asked him one day if she could have a listen and he reluctantly agreed right after clicking his tongue at her)

momo is fascinated with how much concentration katsuki puts into studying and it pisses katsuki off when he caught her staring at him one too many times

he makes a face at her whenever he sees her looking at him just to piss her off, unfortunately for bakugou, his plan doesn't seem to work because momo just smiles at his childishness

momo finds all of his nicknames for her unnecessary and rude and tries her best to ignore him when he calls her 'ponytails'

momo always asks for him to call her by her name but katsuki is dead set on calling her anything but her name (just to annoy her)

momo likes to keep her notes organised and clean, but whenever she leaves her seat to look for more books, she always comes back to find doodles and drawings on the top right corner courtesy of a bored bakugou

as pay back, momo would try to sneek drawings/write on bakugou's notebook when he's not looking (it doesn't work, because bakugou doesn't dare leave his seat)

they always end up staying longer than what they initially planned because, even when they won't admit it, the other's presence is both a welcome and a comfort so they end up talking and just enjoying each other's company after all the studying

bakugou would always declare he'd be the top of their class on their up coming test when they're both about to leave and momo would just smile and say "good luck to the both of us"

but in the end, momo is still no. 1 in the class when it comes to academics and it pisses bakugou off to no end

so he studies even more and momo still asks to join him whenever she sees him studying on his own, and for some reason, bakugou lets her every damn time
