Something I don’t think enough people recognize when it comes to making shows more diverse, there is so much going on behind the scene that you literally can’t “just add them.”
Alex Hirsch had to wait until the end of Gravity Falls to show that Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland were in love so that way the show didn’t get prematurely cancelled. And even still, that was censored in other countries.
________
The Owl House has a bisexual afro Latina protagonist that falls in love with a white lesbian. They kiss several times on screen and say “my awesome girlfriend.” It also has Disney’s first nonbinary character (Raine Whispers), their bisexual love interest (Eda Clawthorne), and an aro/ace woman (Lilith Clawthorne). However, because like five people said that TOH wasn’t the “Disney brand” the show is prematurely cancelled. So even with everything that TOH did, it only won battle but lost the war.
________
The art crew for Encanto had to fight to make Luisa buff. And when they were finally able to make her buff, Disney didn’t make as much Luisa merchandise because they thought little girls would want Mirabel or Isabela’s since they’re more “feminine.” (I think the same thing happened with Namaari when RATLD came out but I’m not sure. So don’t quote me on that.)
*Also, Luisa out preformed. So that’s a win.
________
Bubblegum and Marceline couldn’t kiss until the series finale of Adventure Time because it would’ve been cancelled. So throughout the entire series, the crew always just had to imply undertones about their past. Since HBO produced Obsidian, they were able to kiss on screen.
________
Korra and Asami’s relationship had to tempt down so that way Nick could continue airing the show and they weren’t allowed to kiss until the comics.
________
Turning Red got so much unwarranted criticism because not only did Mei’s mom say “pads” but she showed them on screen. (I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if that made you uncomfortable, that’s a sign that we need to do this more and not less.)
________
Some countries marked She Ra as 18+ because Catra and Adora kissed on screen. (Once again, I’m not sure if this completely true but Nate Stevenson had to fight to actually show them kissing on screen instead of a fade to white.)
________
Steven Universe is the gayest show I’ve ever seen in my life which was both good and bad. It was good for obvious reasons. Example being that it was the first show that introduced to me nonbinary people in a way that wasn’t “haha, look, she uses they/them pronouns. She’s so funny and quirky.”
And it’s bad because it put a target on it’s back. SU has been censored so much that it’s honestly a miracle that we got an ending. And in most of the countries that censored SU, they usually portray Ruby as a man. So I can’t imagine how bad the censors were when the wedding happened and Ruby wore a dress and Sapphire wore a suit.
________
Also, you have to remember the outdated idea that gay/trans topics are “too mature” for kids to handle (there’s an episode of Adam Ruins Everything that talks about this). So it’s easier for shows with an older audience (like Arcane) to have queer/trans rep.
Not to mention, if you ever go on Insider’s website to look at the queer/trans characters in cartoons [here], most of the characters are revealed to be queer only online and not in the actual show.
________
All of this BS because God forbid that kids find out that other people exist.
Representation is important but please, just be aware of the actually struggles that go on that you don’t see and be thankful that this is where we are now because even though it might seem like it at times remember that this is actual progress. We need to keep pushing studios to do more. I’m sure that there’s millions of untold stories that would be made if not for this prejudice.

That Night (smut)
(Sugar mama Lin Beifong x sugar baby reader)
Minors go tf away!
Warnings: men being weird, fingering, drinking, degrading, fucking in a closet, fighting, lots of hickeys
Remember that party Asami invited you and Lin to? Yeah it’s party time!
I had a glass of champagne in my hand while I watched people dance around at Asami’s party. The more I drink my champagne the more I realize I should have just gotten a shot. I’m not the biggest champagne person but I try so hard to be it’s stupid. I got this itching feeling that someone was looking at me but before I could look around Mako came up to me. “Hey.” Mako said. “Hey.” I said back and gave him a hug and kiss on the cheek. “Have you seen Bolin?” Mako asked. “No I have not.” I said. “Damn, well you wanna take a shot with me?” He offered me a shot glass. “I’d love to.” I said as I took it.
We clinked glasses then tossed our shots back. The liquid burned for a second then the feeling subsided. “I gotta go find Bolin to make sure he’s not doing anything stupid. I’ll come back to check on you in a bit.” Mako said. “You don’t have to check up on me, I'm a big girl.” I told him. “Tell that to chief.” Mako said as he walked away. I shook my head. When I go out by myself Lin sometimes has Mako follow me around which he rather do then paperwork anyways but it’s not like I can’t take care of myself. I started getting that feeling again of someone watching me and it’s bugging me.
I need another shot. I walked off to the mini bar and ordered a shot of cactus juice and then after I took it I said fuck it and ordered another one. Before I could leave the bar some guy blocked my way. “Excuse me.” I said as I tried to get past him. “Why don’t you come dance with me?” The average height man asked. “Actually she’s my dance partner.” Asami said as she grabbed my hand and dragged me away towards the dance floor. “Thank you.” I said. “No problem now, dance with me.” Asami said. I laughed as she held my hand as we danced around each other and on each other.
“I’m surprised you can dance in this dress.” Asami said to me as I danced on her. “What do you mean?” I asked as I moved my hips. “The slits of your dress goes all the way up your thighs at any minute we could have a flash moment.” Asami teased. “Oh shut up I used the tape you invented to make sure this dress don’t move like that.” I laughed. “I’m glad it’s really working, I’m truly a genius.” Asami said. “Indeed you are.” I said. Once the song was over Asami went to go find Korra. I ran into Mako again. “Still no Bolin?” I asked. “He’s in the pool.” Mako told me.
“Oh also you are doing a shitty job at protecting me.” I teased him. “What happened? Are you ok?” Mako asked frantically and started looking over my body for bruises or scratches. I mean he might find a bruise or two because Lin likes to mark me up. “Did someone do this to you?” Mako asked as he poked at my shoulder blade. “That’s a hickey.” I told him. “Oh.” Mako said as he turned me around to face him. “Yeah me and your mom get frisky.” I said. “I don’t need to know about what you and the chief do.” Mako said and shivered in disgust.
I laughed. “Anyways what happened?” Mako asked. “Some dude blocked me from leaving the bar then Asami came to save me.” I said. “I saw you two on the dance floor, you don’t think chief will get mad?” Mako asked. “Why would she?” I asked. “Since she likes to leave marks on you like that and has me follow you around she seems a little possessive don’t you think?” Mako asked. “I suppose so, yes but I don’t think she’ll get upset over me dancing with Asami.” I said. “Anyways stay with me so you don’t get bothered.” Mako said.
Hmmm how about no. “Mako, look , there's a tall buff smart pretty girl over there.” I said and pointed in the opposite direction. “Where?” Mako asked and I took off. I went back to the dance floor. I’m not afraid to dance alone. Is it more fun to have someone to dance with yes but oh well I have to dance alone. As I was dancing I felt someone grab my waist and I wasn’t alarmed at first my brain thought it was Asami or Lin. “Where’s your dance partner?” The male voice asked. Oh hell no! I quickly moved away and turned around.
“Dude what the fuck?” I asked. “Just dance with me.” He said. “No.” I said and tried to walk away from him but he grabbed my wrist. “Hey! Get off.” I snapped and turned back to face him. “It’s just one dance.” He snapped back. Before I could raise my other hand to punch him I was pulled away and then the guy was put on the ground. “You ok?” Mako asked. “Yeah I’m fine.” I told Mako. “You sure?” Lin asked me. “I’m fine baby.” I said. “I’ll get him out of here.” Mako said and dragged him away. “Come with me.” Lin said and we walked off the dance floor. “Where are we going?” I asked.
“Since people wanna dance with my girl I’ll just have to remind them you belong to me.” Lin said. Oh no. Lin dragged me into a closet. She pushed me against the wall and started a passionate make out. Her coming to save me made me horny but now her shoving me into the closet has me even more excited. Anyone could come in and see us but I don’t care. I want them to know, I want them to see, I need them to know I’m her’s. I pulled away. “You gonna keep making out with me or are you gonna remind everyone who I belong to?” I asked. Lin immediately attacked my neck.
I leaned my head back so she could have more access to my neck. “Lin please more.” I begged her. “Don’t be an impatient brat.” Lin growled. “Please.” I begged. Lin turned me around and lifted up my dress. I wasn’t wearing any shorts, it was just a dark red thong with a heart chain under my long dress. Lin smacked my ass and I let out a moan. “Lin.” I whined. She nibbled on my ear and smacked my ass over and over. God this feels so good. Lin pulled down my panties and started to circle my clit. “You’re wet just from me spanking you?” Lin asked.
“Yes, I love when you spank me.” I whined. Lin turned me to face her and pulled down my dress to pull out my breast. She nipped my left nipple and I gasped. She was gonna leave marks all over my tits. “Lin please more.” I begged. Lin slipped two fingers inside of me stretching me out and my back arched. “Yes, more baby more.” I whined. She curled her fingers and did a come here motion. “Fuck keep doing that.” I moan out. “You’re all mine aren’t you?” Lin whispered in my ear. “Yes I’m all yours!” I cried out. Her fingers feel so good inside of me. “You’re sure?” Lin asked.
“Yes baby I’m yours.” I moaned. “I thought you’d be Asami’s the way you were dancing on her.” Lin growled and rubbed my clit with her other hand. “No Lin. I’m yours all fucking yours! I belong to you!” I cried out. I guess Mako was right. “That’s right you belong to me.” Lin said. My legs were shaking and ready to give out. “Oh god please chief I’m close.” I whined as I felt a familiar tightness building in my belly. “When you cum you better scream my name.” Lin commanded. I nodded my head and the closer I got to tipping over the edge I kept saying her name over and over again.
“Do you think you can take another finger?” Lin asked. My eyes widened. “I c-can try.” I said unsurely. “Good girl.” Lin said and I felt her add a third finger. I gripped Lin’s shoulders. “Fuck chief!” I cried out. “Your tight pussy is swallowing my fingers up so well baby girl.” Lin cooed. We’ve never done this before but it feels so fucking good and I can feel my juices leaking down my thighs. “I’m so close.” I told her. “Cum for me baby you can do it.” Lin said, pumping her fingers faster. “I’m all yours Lin, I belong to you, I’m yours. I don’t want anyone but you,” I grabbed Lin’s face so she could look at me as I declared her ownership over me.
I could tell her eyes were full of lust but there’s something else there but I had no time to decipher what it was because Lin smashed her lips against mine. Lin plunged her tongue in my mouth and I didn’t even put up a fight. I let her do whatever she wanted to me. As Lin slowly pulled away I felt light headed. “You’re right you’re mine, you belong to me, there will be no one that touches you the way I do.” Lin groaned. Her words pushed me over the edge. “Lin!” I cried out as I orgasmed.
Lin fingered me through as my whole body shook. “Fuck Beifong.” I sighed out. “You ok?” Lin asked. I nodded my head. “You sure?” Lin asked. “Yes baby I’m fine.” I said. “Good.” Lin said as she pulled out her fingers and I put them in my mouth. I sucked them clean for her. “Let’s get out of here.” Lin said. “No, I wanna keep dancing.” I whined. “One more dance then we go.” Lin said as she helped me put on my panties. “You fucked up the tape.” I sighed. “What do you mean?” Lin asked. “There was tape that I put on the strings of my panties to help keep my dress from moving all over the place.” I told her.
“You’ll be fine.” Lin said. I nodded and we exited the closet together. Before we made it all the way back to the party Lin stopped me. “What’s wrong?” I asked and turned to look at her. Lin opened her mouth but then stopped. “Where the hell have you two been? Are you ok?” Kya asked coming up to us. “I was a little shaken up about what happened earlier.” I said. “Aww Linny, look at you taking care of your girlfriend. How romantic.” Kya teased. “Kya don’t you have single woman to mingle with?” Lin asked. “No need to be hostile Linny, but are you really ok?” Kya asked me.
“Yes I’m fine.” I said. “Oh and by the way Mako got into a fight with that guy.” Kya said. “Is Mako ok?” I asked. “Of course he’s ok.” Lin said. “Lin knows her precious son can handle himself but yes he’s ok.” Kya said. Lin rolled her eyes. Kya’s eyes widened. “What?” I asked. “Y’all are nasty! All those hickeys.” Kya gasped. “Oh hush Kya.” Lin said. Kya and I laughed. I was happy that the hickeys were seen. This is what we wanted. We walked back to the party and I got to dance with Lin for a little bit. Lin ran her hands over my body as we danced.

Asami Sato x Female Air Bender Series: Part Two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part One Here
As things esculate in Republic City so does your relationship with Asami but with civil war looming, a jealous boyfriend and some Avatar antics in the mix will you ever get your chance with her?
___________
The police search of Asami’s house actually revealed a secret tunnel to an underground factory Hiroshi was using to supply the equalists with weapons. Everyone was shocked and you apologised to Korra for not believing her and all was well again between you...but Asami’s world was falling apart.
Asami arrived on Air Temple Island early the following morning and you saw how nervous she looked. From the look on her face you guessed she hadn’t slept a wink and watched as she surveyed the island with a wary expression. Asami finally spotted you and she smiled. You smiled back and came to stand beside her with Korra. "Hey, wow you travel so light only 20 bags?" you teased and Asami rolled her eyes hiding a smile "just be glad I only brought one car". You laughed "wow you are slumming it! Come with us and we'll show you the barracks". Of course your brother Meelo came snooping and you managed to get rid of him with some air bending. Asami laughed as Meelo spun round and round in the air tornado you’d created. "Will he be okay?" she asked watching him struggle to break out. You nodded "he’ll be fine. It’ll wear off in like 5 minutes...5 max either way it’ll teach him to not be a creep around women". "Uh huh...well we can’t all be as smooth as you" Asami replied. You knew that was sarcasm but smiled brightly "thank you I do try" making Asami laugh.
You showed Asami to her room and asked if she needed any help unpacking. She refused but when you said you didn’t mind she agreed. Mako found you hours later laid on the sofa together laughing. You’d only managed to unpack half the boxes which Mako didn’t seem to find it funny. When Asami went to the bathroom he spun on you. "Look what's your deal?" Mako asked and you paused "what do you mean?". "Well are you trying to steal my girlfriend or not?". You frowned "One I can’t steal Asami because she doesn’t belong to you and two of course not!". Mako blushed "I didn't mean she...I just meant after what Korra said, you like her?". You paused "yes. I think Asami is wonderful and before I knew she was dating anyone I was interested in her but I respect the fact she’s got a partner and won’t try anything with her. You have my word, airbender promise". Mako pauses "but why not? Many people in your position would". You shrugged "it’s not honest or a good way to build a relationship. Plus it’s just a pretty horrible thing to do to Asami and you. I'd never do anything like that". Mako was taken back but seemed satisfied "oddly I actually believe you" he said "thanks I guess...for being so cool". You smiled "no problem but treat her right yeah? Asami is a great girl". Mako blushed but nodded "will do" and walked away. You watched him go and sighed, you doubted he’d suddenly start treating her better but who knew.
After dinner Asami said she wanted to take a walk. You thought it would be good for her but when she hadn’t returned an hour later you grew worried. You began searching the grounds and found her sitting staring at the ocean. "You okay?" you asked coming to sit beside her and Asami jumped before nodding. "Well that was convincing" you chuckled and Asami sighed "sorry I was just thinking about my dad". You frowned "Do you want to talk about him?". Asami was about to say no when she saw your eyes and she felt relaxed and comfortable. You had this calming aura and it affected her every time. So Asami talked to you about why she thought her father was doing what he was doing. Payback for her mother’s death. "See my mom was the love of my father’s life. She had a really bad pregnancy with me and almost died giving birth. My dad was terrified of losing her and so they agreed to not have any more children. He valued and loved her too much to risk her life so when she was killed it was his worst nightmare. He’d done so much to protect her and to have her taken despite all they’d done...I thought he’d gotten better with time but clearly not. He got better because he just shifted his attention to revenge...I know this in no way justifies what he did but it makes me feel sad thinking about it. I keep wondering if we’d talked about her more or gone to therapy or something it might’ve been different". You frowned “see the thing is you have no idea if it would have changed anything. It might not have done anything to change your father and even if it would have, it’s not your fault that you didn’t. Asami you were the kid, it wasn’t your job to make your parent happy. That burden wasn’t yours and anything your father did is his fault alone. You did nothing wrong”. Tears welled in Asami’s eyes and she wasn’t even sure why, maybe it was just nice to hear someone say that and reassure her? Either way she tried to blink back the tears but one fell down her face. You passed her a tissue and watched her, your face full of concern. Asami wondered why you were looking at her like that. Why did you care for her so much? You were so kind to her but Asami had no idea what she’d done to deserve it. Either way she decided to take the comfort and smiled at you softly “thankyou y/n I...I needed that”. You smiled “no problem, if you ever need to talk about your parents or just have a cry my door’s always open”. Asami smiled and nodded. “I’m gonna head back inside, come in soon yeah” you told her patting her shoulder and you walked away leaving Asami feeling lighter from your conversation. It suddenly occurred to her she couldn’t have had that conversation with Mako. He wasn’t good with emotions or comforting people verbally. Asami wasn’t sure why she was comparing the two of you all of a sudden and she shook the odd thought from her head. Mako was her boyfriend and she was happy with him...wasn’t she?
When Korra told you they were all going into the city to hunt the equalists and break curfew you were down of course. The car was only meant for four people so it was a bit of a tight squeeze and you got sat between Mako and Korra of all people. You weren’t sure if you were reading it right but there seemed to be some tension between the two of them and Asami. You meant to ask Korra about it but didn’t get a chance. You soon found out Tarrloq was rounding up non-benders and arresting them for protesting the power shortages to their homes. Things soon escalated and you watched the situation staying neutral until the guards touched Asami. “Hey get off me!” you heard Asami yell and turned to see one was trying to handcuff her and your anger appeared. "Get your hands off her!" you cried and air bent them away from her harshly. You grabbed Asami’s arm and helped her up "are you okay?". She nodded "thanks" and stepped closer to you and with good reason, the other guards had seen what you’d done and were closing in. "The thorn in my side that is y/n" Tarlock glared "are you really dragging the whole air nation into this for some girl?". "Are you really going to judge a whole nation by the actions of one person? Here I was thinking the a council member from the Water Tribe would know why such prejudices are so wrong" you shot back. Tarlock glared "she’s a non-bender out after curfew, move aside or we arrest you too". You laughed "i’d like to see you try, ever gone toe to toe with an airbender before? I thought not". Your cocky smile didn’t put him off and Tarlock just glared signalling his men to move in. Evidently the guards had not fought an airbender before. You wiped the floor with them, literally but more and more kept appearing. When Tarlock decided enough was enough he took out a stun gun and fired it at you. It hit you square in the back and you fell down convulsing. “Y/n!” Asami cried holding you and Korra’s temper peaked. “Tarrloq!” she yelled and raised a huge earth barrier ready to throw it at him. However Tarrloq soon twisted the situation and made Korra back down. By then you were more aware of the situation and you told Korra it was okay. As the Avatar she couldn’t get arrested but you were fine. “Go get my dad” you told her as Asami helped you into the police van “i’ll keep everyone entertained in prison”. Korra grinned despite herself and nodded to you “I’ll get you all out I promise!”. You waved to her as best you could and the doors were shut carting you off to prison.
While Korra and Tenzin were hurrying to broker your escape you were relaxing in your cell with Asami now fully recovered. "How are you so calm?" Asami asked and you shrugged "air bender?". She laughed "so now you're using the stereotype". You smiled "well when it’s convenient why not? Plus I've been in jail before...Lin’s a good host". "Really? How!" she cried and you chuckled "okay so I was 14 and i thought nobody would mind if I practised my air dives of the top of the tower. Long story short I caused a public disturbance and scared a lot of people...a few cars crashed and I may or may not have ruined an expensive bridge but my dives got better and it only cost me a night in prison!". Asami just stared at you "you're the oddest person I've ever met". You fanned your face "Asami Sato you sweet talker, do you flirt with all the girls like this?". Asami laughed "I just mean I've never met anyone like you. Every story you have is so odd and interesting I...it baffles me". You smiled "coming from someone as impressive as you that means a lot” and Asami blushed. There was tension in the atmosphere so you smiled "hey wanna play a game?".
Lin opened the door and groaned "really y/n you're playing prison ping pong again?". You laughed "well why not? And this time i have someone to play with!". "How are you your father’s daughter?" Lin asked. "Well see my mom and dad were drunk one night and they got these urges...". "Stop it!” Lin cried and Asami snorted with laughter. "You're so odd for an Airbender" Lin groaned and you grinned "so i’ve been told” looking to Asami who blushed. “Alright do you want to get out of here or not?” Lin asked and that caught your attention.
After your stint in prison things got even worse. Amon made his move and officially took over Republic City. Your family was forced to flee but you wanted to fight and seeing as you’d just turned 18 there was nothing your parents could do to stop you. So they wished you good luck and told you and Korra to protect one another. You did and soon took refuge in the Republic City sewer system. It wasn’t great but it was safe and dry so you were happy however there was trouble in paradise.
Mako had been acting very cold to Asami and to make matters worse he was tripping over himself to do anything Korra asked. Mako and Asami seemed to be on the outs but you didn’t want any part of it. You noticed Asami was upset and tried being there for her but also wanted to keep a clear distance so it wasn’t like you were moving in...Asami however was seeking you out more than ever and you realised you were her closest friend and ally here. "Do you think he likes Korra?" Asami asked one day and you paused. You knew there was a kiss but Korra was your friend so you didn’t want to sell her out. You bit your lip "they do have a history together and I think if you're really worried you should asked Mako what happened between them". Asami’s eyes widened "something happened?". You nodded "yes but I don’t want to betray Korra’s trust. She’s my friend and it should come from her or Mako". You were worried Asami would be angry but she nodded "I get that. Thanks anyway y/n" and she walked away.
Unfortunately living in such close quarters you all heard the argument when Asami confronted Mako about his past with Korra. Mako didn’t take the conversation well and he dragged you into it. “Well y/n’s only saying this because she likes you! She’s breaking us up on purpose” you heard Mako yell and winced “that is so not what I was doing” you muttered. Korra nodded sympathetically when suddenly Asami appeared and made a beeline for you, Mako trailing. Korra and Bolin made themselves scarce and you wished you could do that too. You considering airballing out of here but figured that’d make things more awkward, so you decided to take it like a grown-up and waited for Asami.
“Is it true?” she asked reaching you and you shook your head “no I’d never break you up on purpose!”. “So you don’t like me?” Asami asked. You hesitated “I do have feelings for you but Asami what he’s saying isn’t true!”. “Ow come you’ve been invested in our break up from the start!” Mako called and you rolled your eyes “stop trying to dig yourself out of this by dragging me and Korra into it”. “Korra? Why Korra?” Asami asked and you froze “no reason...she’s nothing to do with this”. Asami saw the look on Mako’s face and shook her head “I’m such an idiot, so did you and Korra plan this?" Asami asked "break me and Mako up for fun?". "No not at all! I didn’t even know you were dating Mako when we saw each other at the party". "But you did every occasion after...I can’t believe this". "Asami there’s nothing to believe! Yes Korra joked about the idea but I told her no and she moved on. Neither of us were planning anything we just both happened to like you and Mako". "Quite a coincidence" Asami said in a sarcastic tone and you sighed "Asami please you have to believe me! I'd never do anything to upset you". "Why would I believe you? I have literally no reason to" Asami stated and she stormed away.
You noticed Mako watching and glared "why did you do that?". "Do what? Tell my girlfriend you have a thing for her? Maybe for the same reason you told her about me and Korra". You glared "i didn’t do that to try and get with Asami i did it because she deserved to know especially with how you've been treating her". "How I’ve...I've not done anything". You rolled your eyes "Mako it's clear you like Korra do so do the right thing and choose one of them! You'll only hurt both of them if you keep going like this and they’re far too good for that so do everyone a favour and step up!". You stormed away unaware Asami had heard everything.
After that things were understandably pretty awkward. Poor Bolin was stuck right in the middle of it and you tried relieving some of the pressure by teaming up with him. Asami went with General Iroh and Korra went with Mako. Your and Bolin’s plan was going great...until Asami and Iroh got captured. You managed to get into the compound but couldn’t find Asami. You heard smashing and ran towards the sound only to find Asami facing off with her father. You were momentarily stunned before you realised Asami was losing. “Haven’t you hurt her enough?” you yelled and used a large air gust to knock him into a wall. “Y/n?” Asami asked and you nodded “are you okay?”. She nodded and her father got back up. You stepped between him and Asami and he laughed “you really think a mere air bender can stop one of these suits?”. “Haven’t you heard? I’m not just any Airbender” you replied and leapt onto your own air scooter.
The fight was more difficult than you’d anticipated. The suit was too heavy for you to knock it around properly and you’d already been electrocuted once but you wouldn’t let Hiroshi win and hurt Asami. Asami herself was also fighting tooth and nail to help you but it was hard with the damage to her suit. Finally you managed to knock out the blasters on the suit and focused your attention on the back which Asami told you had the power system. Your goal was to prise the suit apart and so you kept focusing your airbending on that area while also trying to avoid getting hit by the metal arms. You managed to knock the suit to the floor and Asami leapt on the legs “go y/n!” she cried and you ran up and gripped the back of the suit. You used your airbending and prised the suit open inch by inch. Your arms were screaming for you to stop but you were so close so you kept going. Finally the back of the suit fell apart and you felt something pop in your arm. You cried out sinking to your knee but managed to stand after a few breaths. The suit fell apart and when Hiroshi crawled out of the suit you pinned him to the floor with your good arm. “Y/n?” you heard Asami call and she froze when she saw your limp arm “you’re hurt”. “I’m okay, are you?” you asked. “Yeah...y/n I’ve been thinking” when Bolin showed up with General Iroh.
After that Hiroshi was arrested and you all returned to Republic City to find the rebellion crumbling. Korra had done it! You were thrilled even if your arm was killing you. Your family returned the second they heard the news and of course they began fussing over you. Tenzin actually insisted on flying you all the way to your grandmother Katara in the South Pole to have it healed and made you stay overnight there too. So you didn’t return to Republic City until a few days later but when you got back all your friends were there waiting. Korra rushed to hug you first and you winced loudly as she knocked your arm. “Y/n i’m so sorry!” she cried and you grinned “I’m just messing with you! Katara herself healed it, it’s as good as new! Try punching me in it!”. Korra got ready to but much to Tenzin’s relief Asami rushed forwards hugging you “i’m so glad you’re okay! Thank you so much for saving me from my father”. You were very pleased she didn’t seem angry at you anymore and you smiled “you never have to thank me for something like that Asami”. Asami blushed but you didn’t notice as Bolin bundled into you picking you up. “Hey be careful with her” Mako called and you paused, shocked him of all people would be worried about you. “I erm...it’s good to see you’re okay and I’m sorry about what happened before”. You smiled and punched his arm “i’m sorry too, friends?”. Mako nodded but you noticed his eyes on Korra behind you. You shot her a “you have to fill me in later” look and followed your family inside.
Your siblings had insisted on throwing you a welcome home party which was adorable if a little taxing. Ikki wouldn’t leave your side, Jinora kept watching you anxiously and rushed to grab anything for you and Meelo...well he showed you he loved you by demanding you watch him airbend. You finally managed to get away with Korra’s help and stood outside overlooking the ocean. “Hey can I join you?” a voice called and you turned to see Asami. “Unless you want to be alone?” she asked and you shook your head “no join me, I’ve missed that Sato humour i’m so fond of”. Asami smiled and came to stand beside you. “The ocean looks beautiful” she said suddenly and you smirked looking at her “yeah it does...are you okay? Just that was totally a line you say when you don’t know what else to say”. Asami laughed but was blushing like crazy “you can always see straight through me...I’ve actually been wanting to talk to you since the day of the battle...I need to tell you something but it’s kind of difficult so can you not reply until I’m done?”. You nodded “of course” and took a deep breath to prepare.
Asami did the same thing and then locked eyes with you “First I wanted to apologise for what happened with Mako. I spoke to Korra and she told me you never planned anything and how you were telling the truth. I also want to thank you for standing up to Mako for me, I heard you do it after I’d just yelled at you and I’ve never had anyone be so kind to me before. I think that’s why I assumed you must’ve had something to gain but no, you’re just that type of person”. You went to comment you weren’t a saint but remembered your promise so closed your mouth.
"And then the way you defended me against my father...the truth is you're the strongest person I've ever met" Asami admitted "you have this infectious personality and being with you feels like you're floating or something. You make me laugh more than anyone I've ever met and your stories are the greatest thing I've ever heard along with your wit. But the crazy thing is you're not just some goofy Airbender. I can have deep conversations with you, ones about my parents and my childhood and stuff. You just make me comfortable and when you defended me that night we got arrested...see with Mako I feel safe and protected physically but that's all. Emotionally I'm vulnerable but that’s not the case with you. You protect me but you also care for me beyond the physical. You seemed to care more for my well-being than my own boyfriend. I have no idea how one person can be so complex but I know I want to find out more about you. I want you y/n" Asami said and you blinked in surprise.
You went to speak but hesitated and Asami nodded “i’m done you can talk now”.  You laughed "well all I have to say is you...do? You like me?". Asami nodded "I've always been attracted to you and I ignored the way you make me feel but no more. I want you if you want me". You smiled “that’s not even a question, of course I want you". Asami smiled and leaned in closer but you paused "wait are you and Mako...if you're not broke up then we shouldn’t". Asami shook her head “we broke up the day of the battle, I realised I liked you and so I ended it”. You smiled “well in that case...” and kissed her. You were a bit cautious but Asami wrapped her arms around you pleasantly surprising you. You smiled and kissed her back, picking her up with your airbending and twirling her dramatically. Asami laughed as the wind rushed through her hair and stared at you. Her gaze was so intense it almost made you blush but only almost.
“So do you have any dinner plans tonight or...?" you asked once you’d separated. Asami smiled "No. Would you like to take me out y/n?". "I've wanted to do that since I first laid eyes on you but yes I would Asami Sato". Asami blushed but nodded "then it's a date".
                                                         The End
____________
I’ve totally forgiven Mako but I hated how he made Asami feel in the first two books. Asami and Korra are both such great women they didn’t deserve to be cheated on that’s why I wanted a character to come in and completely sweep Asami off her feet (hence why I created a cocky gay female airbender).
Also I don’t think Asami gets enough credit for how much she rolled with the punches in Book 1. She literally could’ve hated Korra so easily and been the typical girl who hates other girls but she didn’t and that says a LOT about her character. I’m so glad the writers didn’t make her a villan.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ show us some more👀
Eeeee this is so fun, thank you for the ask! Okay, so I’ll talk a bit about my fic She Showed Me that Apple (And I Got Weak) (discussion here will be relatively tame but the fic itself is explicit, so please be mindful of that!)
So this fic started brewing in my brain when I was stuck in traffic one day. The song Long Way from Tupelo by Paul Thorn comes on and I’m jamming. Essentially, it’s the story of a guy whose car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, he meets a beautiful girl whose house is the only one for miles, they bang, the girl’s mom comes home and sends the narrator on his way. It occurs to me that with Korra and her aversion to driving/cars, this could be a fun situation to put her in. Asami’s the beautiful stranger, bingo bango.
I start writing the fic and I’m just not feeling it. It all feels a little too perfect, a little too unrealistic, a little too classic-p*rn-scenario if you will. And while there’s nothing wrong with a contrived setup for a sex scene (I would be a massive hypocrite if I said otherwise lol), it wasn’t feeling that interesting to write or read. I’d started feeling really bored and frustrated with the fic and I stopped working on it for a while.
Then one day, I wanted to start writing again, so I looked up live versions of the song to hopefully knock something loose in my brain. A version that I find starts with the singer explaining that the story behind the song is actually a story that he read in an old issue of Penthouse or something in that he found in the woods when he was a teenager. And suddenly it all made sense to me. Of course it’s predictable, of course it’s all too easy— that’s the whole point. The story is too perfect because it’s a fantasy. It would never happen that way because it’s not. real.
So then I start trying to think about how to work that into the fic when I remember this incredible comic. (I’d also had an incredibly tender EXTREMELY detailed sex dream about a random coworker a few nights prior that made work very awkward the next day). And it all comes together for me— Korra’s dreaming. Her brain is coupling together her beginnings of feelings for Asami with the kind of schlocky bodice-ripper novel plotlines that would have informed how she’d heard people talk about sex.
I know the reveal that Korra was dreaming was controversial— some people really didn’t care for it and were not afraid to tell me so! But for me it was the only way that the narrative made sense or felt compelling. Besides, there is nothing that I love more than a baby gay panic angst moment (especially when we already know that it’s going to work out for Korrasami in the end.)

Skeletons in the Closet
It had been six months since the Republic City Times headline screamed “Avatar and Asami Split”.  The shock had worn off for most people but not for Akari, their daughter.  The thirteen-year-old, whose nickname was Lights, was brooding in her bedroom at the Sato estate.  This was the first Halloween when her mothers weren’t together.  Even though she knew that both Asami and Korra would be attending her school’s Halloween Dance, it was hard to adjust to spending the first part of the week on Air Temple Island with Korra and the end of the week with Asami at the mansion.
Lights looked at herself in the mirror and hiked up the collar of her vampire costume.  She breathed in and out deeply to try to settle her nerves.  She had a plan and wanted the event to go without a hitch.  She figured if she could just get her moms into a room to talk, everything would go back to normal.  She knew they still loved each other and Akari wanted her little family to be whole again.
She bounded down the stairs into the living room where Asami was waiting.
“Lights, your costume looks really good and your face makeup is perfect.”
“Thanks, Mom.  I like your witch’s outfit too.  Are you ready to go?”
Asami answered quickly, “Sure am.  Just let me grab my pointy hat and my car keys.”
With that, both Satos made their way to the garage.  It was a ten-minute drive to Akari’s school.  Asami had gone to the same private school as a child so she knew where they were going as they entered the building.  As they headed toward the gym, dance music could be heard throughout the hallway.  Once they entered, Akari ran off to meet up with the group of her friends and Asami made her way to the refreshment table.  A few of the teachers and some of the parents were supervising and Asami made small talk with all of them.
After about ten minutes, Akari’s other mom made her appearance.  Lights ran over to Korra and gave her a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.
“Mama, I’ve imagined a lot of stuff about you and your job but I never in a million years thought I would see you in that get-up!!”
“What’s the matter, sweetheart?  You don’t think the Avatar could dress up like a fairy godmother?  I think I look cute in the pink tutu, tiara and wand.”
Akari giggled and with a wink, asked, “Do you grant wishes?”
“Of course, I do if it’s within my power.”  With that Akari took her mama’s hand.
“Good!! then come with me.”
Lights pulled Korra over to the refreshment table and made her fairy godmother stand beside the witch she came with.  Both women looked at each other and smiled.
Asami spoke first, “Although blue really is your colour, you look good in pink too.”
“Thanks, and as far as I know, you have never been a witch.”
“Mama, Mom, I have something I want to show you that I have been working on in art class.  My art teacher, Mr. Simon, left the classroom open so we could show off our projects.  Will you come to the art room?”
“Of course, I’ll come”, the CEO responded quickly.
“It would be my pleasure,” Korra added.
The walk down the hall took a couple of minutes and Akari took her parents, hands.  Walking between them made her feel warm, loved, and secure.  Once they entered the art classroom all three of them were amazed at the paintings, drawings and sculptures that littered the space.
“What did you want to show us?”
“Yes.  Where’s your work?”
“It’s over here.”  Akari led them to the far corner and opened the door to a small room.  She flicked on the light and all three entered.  Both parents saw the pastel drawing that Akari had made.  They let out an audible gasp.  In front of them was a replica of one of their wedding photos.
“Mama, you said you would grant wishes.  My wish is for you to come home.  I want us to be a family again.  Your separation is breaking my heart.”
Asami looked at her daughter and then at her wife, “I’m not sure we can do that, Lights.”
“It’s just not that easy,” Korra replied.
Akari lowered her face and some tears began to drop down her cheeks.  “I want you guys to talk to each other.  You’ve barely spent any time with each other since you left Mama.  You need to discuss stuff and I’m leaving.”  Akari exited the room and closed the door.  She sat down in a lump on the other side with her back against the entranceway.  “I’m staying right here until you guys talk so hurry up and get to it.”
Both women were stunned at their child’s behaviour.
“She gets her impulsiveness from you, Korra!”
“The fact that she planned this came from you, Asami!”
They stood silent for a few moments.  “I don’t hear you two talking.  Get to it.  I’ll stay here all night if I have to!!” Lights bellowed from beyond the door.
“I guess we should talk”, Asami began.  The conversation started in whispered tones so their daughter would not hear them.
“Agreed”, answered the Avatar and she continued, “I didn’t know that she had taken our separation so badly.  I think maybe we need to get her to talk to us more.  Or maybe talk to someone else if she doesn’t want to share with us.”
“Yes, absolutely.  I am worried about her.  She has unknowingly taken up sleepwalking as a nighttime hobby”, Asami stated.
“What?  I haven’t seen or heard her sleepwalk on Air Temple Island.”
Asami took Korra by the hands.  “Shhh.  She doesn’t know.  When she gets up and wanders around, I just lead her back to bed.  It’s only happened a couple of times but it’s starting to scare me.”
Korra tilted her head to the side like a puppy and tears began to leak from her ice-blue eyes.  “We have to do our best to help her.  She can’t feel like she is alone.  I need to do better.  I’m sorry for all this Asami.  It’s my fault.  This whole situation is my fault.”
“Korra, the situation with Akari is both our fault.  I made you leave the mansion.  That’s on me.  We both need to do better for her.”
"But this whole problem started with me.  You need to find some truth that I betrayed you because I did.  I did a stupid thing and even though I never had sex with that woman, my heart cheated on you and that’s just as bad," the Avatar said softly.  “It’s been over between her and me since the day I told you.  I don’t want Lights to know how much of an idiot I was six months ago.  It’s too much for me to bear.”
Asami cupped her hands around Korra’s face and wiped her tears away using her thumbs.  She leaned forward and kissed the Avatar’s forehead.
“Korra, come home,” Asami demanded gingerly as she looked into her wife’s soul.
“I can’t until you forgive me.  Please Asami, I need to hear you say it.”
“You’re forgiven.  I am doing this for you, for me, and especially for Akari.  She needs both parents under the same roof.”
Korra stopped crying and knocked on the door.  “Lights, are you still out there?"
“Yes.”
“Please let us out.  We’ve talked and I’m coming home.”
The door was flung open and Akari grabbed both her mothers in a hug.  She squeezed and squeezed and squeezed some more.  It was the best she had felt in a very long time.  She picked up her artwork and all three, a vampire, a witch, and their fairy godmother left the school and returned to the Sato Estate.

Hi, may I have a matchup for legend of korra, narnia, and percy jackson? I go by she/her and am bi with no preference so any gender is fine.
I’m about 5’5, dark blue eyes, medium length hair thats kinda too dark to be dirty blonde but not so dark that its light brown with slightly lighter blonde highlights throughout. Ive been told I typically wear what would be considered 90s type of style but leaning away from more feminine things tho I’m not opposed to dresses and all.
I get pretty anxious when thrown in certain situations rather that be talking to a group of people or just one person. But when I get to know someone I never stop talking. I am a ranter and rambler which means I could be ranting about something that happened and then start talking about something else that may or may not be related to the original subject. Though I do enjoy listening to other people talk. I am considered the mom friend because I tend to be the most logical. I'm also a very determined, stubborn person who usually is kinda pessimistic but still has a huge imagination. And despite all the anxiety I am usually a relatively confident person and am not afraid to take up for anyone I care about. Also I am pretty good in school despite having a kinda bad memory. Also an INTJ and Sagittarius.
I absolutely love writing, art, music, reading, and watching various shows/movies. I also really like walking around and enjoying nature. There's a few nature trails I love going on and would go to the zoo every weekend if I had the chance. Which also goes along to my love for animals. Also I do like going to random places with my friends.
And that's about all I can think of to say, hope it wasn't too much lol. But anyways, thanks in advance :)
Hello Anon! Thank you for requesting Narnia and Percy Jackson; I'm very excited to write for both of them for the first time! I hope you like your matchups!
In Legend of Korra, I match you with...
Tumblr media
Asami will make sure you feel comfortable in situations where you may normally feel anxious. She's learnt to outwardly be confident in almost any situation due to her business.
Loves listening to you ramble about your interests. People always talk about the things she seems interested in to improve their relationship with her and hopefully gain business partnership. She likes listening to someone talk about their own interests.
Asami is probably the closest Korra's Team Avatar has to mom friend and she's still pretty chaotic. I'm sure everyone's a little relieved that there's a level headed mom friend in the group now.
Loves going on walks with you. It gets her away from her work for a while and lets her clear her head.
In Narnia, I match you with...
Tumblr media
The conversations you two have would be amazing to listen to!
Lucy loves it when you two can sit in the gardens and talk for hours. It lets her get away from her royal duties and spend time relaxing.
Lucy's by far the most creative of the Pevensie siblings so she'd love doing art with you. Whether it's drawing, painting, or writing, she just loves creating things and doing it with company is even better.
Another one who loves going for walks. She gets to spend time with you and catch up with all of her Narnian friends as well.
Always makes sure you're comfortable. She knows how intimidating Narnia can be sometimes, especially when you're one of the people living in the castle at Cair Paravel.
In Percy Jackson, I match you with...
Tumblr media
The biggest fan of going for walks in nature with you! He can tell you all about the plants (and dryads) you come across.
Grover also loves listening to you ramble about anything and everything. He has a tendency to ramble as well so he'll appreciate it if you listen to him as well.
He'll find a quiet glade somewhere so you two can relax away from the chaos of Camp Half-Blood. Whether you two talk or just enjoy the peace and quiet, he's just happy to spend time with you.
Pretty socially anxious as well. You two can support each other.
Can't paint or draw for the life of him but enjoys watching you. He'd be honoured if you would do an artwork for him/of him. He thinks you're very clever for being so good at your chosen art medium.

8, 26, 43 for the writer asks
8. Post an out-of-context spoiler from a wip.
Oof, starting out with the challenging ones I see. Okay then, here you go:
“You want to see a monster?” Asami growled, approaching Hiroshi slowly. The look in her eyes could’ve frozen even the toughest of men in their tracks. She fisted her fingers in his suit jacket and hauled him out of the chair with ease. Her lips panted, pearly white fangs glowing faintly in the light. “Then allow me to show you one!”
26. What’s your least favorite part of the writing process?
Writing filler scenes. There are certain scenes that I get really excited to write, but I know that sometimes there has to be other stuff that happens first. Otherwise it just wouldn’t make any sense. Like starting a fight, without any build up of tension. Or throwing two characters straight into smut, without writing out the journey of their relationship first. Filler is just hard for me to write sometimes, which is why some of my fics haven’t been updated in a while.
43. Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet?
Absolutely! In fact, There And Back Again was one of those ideas. I’ve seen so many stories featuring Asami as a single mom, but very few with Korra in that role. So I decided to try it for myself. I think that I’ve mentioned before that I’d really like to try writing an Equalist Asami fic. The whole, enemies to friends to lovers trope is just interesting to me. I also want to try writing a cop Asami AU eventually, since I’ve never seen it done before. (If it has, then please let me know, I’d love to read it!)
I’d also like to eventually try writing trans Asami or Korra too. But mostly I’ve just been thinking about maybe writing a little bit for other ships too, instead of just Korrasami like I’ve been doing for awhile now. Thanks for the ask!

Can you please have a number 40 for Korrasami x reader with asami being pregnant please
Oh interesting, I never got a ship x reader ask before this should be fun to try. Thanks for your ask Anon.
Tumblr media
40. tummy kisses
You and Korra arrive at the apartment late at night. Korra groans as he opens the door and steps inside, "You ok there?" You ask as you gently rub her back.
"Yeah, fine, teaching bending is harder than it looks, I don't know how my Masters kept it together when I was training, they could have at least warned me."
You chuckle at the little pout she gives. As you both walk into the living room you hear humming and see Asami sitting down on the couch rubbing her baby bump.
"What're you singing?" Korra's mood instantly improves as she airbends herself next to Asami.
"A song my mom used to hum to me. Welcome home." Asami leaned over to kiss Korra on the cheek.
"How about a kiss for me?" You sit on the opposite side of her, Asami turns to you and chuckles. She gives you a sweet chaste kiss on the lips, as you separate you look down, "And now a kiss for the little bundle of joy." You lean in to kiss the baby bump but Korra beats you to it.
"Hey little spark." Korra whispers as she places more kisses across Asami's stomach. Asami laughs as she runs her hands trough Korra's hair.
"That tickles."
"My turn." You bend down to do the same as Asami starts to scoot away, laughing.
"No fair Asami! You get to spend the whole day with the baby, me and Korra only get a little."
"Well we'll all have plenty of time when the baby is born, in a few months." You plant another kiss as Asami gets more comfortable between you and Korra.
"I can't wait until those months are over." Korra whispered as she planted a few more lazy kisses of her own before leaning on Asami's shoulder.
You nod in agreement as you settle on the other side. You all decide to take a little rest, just cuddling on the couch.

pt11
“So, where do we find this Iroh guy?” Mako asked.
“You think he has any relation to General Iroh?” Bolin questioned. “I mean, how many Iroh’s can there really be, y’know?”
“He’s Iroh as in, Zuko and Iroh,” Korra informed them, and Bolin let out a shocked gasp. While she was nervous about getting her memories back, (Y/N) would definitely be grateful not to be absolutely lost when things were discussed.
A Republic City winter was nothing compared to a South Pole winter. (Y/N) was cold while she slept, cold while she moved, cold while she stood still! Korra’s mom had her wrapped up in so many different coats, furs, and blankets that she waddled while she walked. “How are you okay right now?” She asked Korra as they walked to breakfast together. “I feel like my nose is going to fall off.”
Korra looked back and flashed her a smile. “It’s all I’ve ever known! You just kind of get used to it.” (Y/N) frowned. She couldn’t imagine ever getting used to weather like this.
As they sat and ate their breakfast--(Y/N) tried to eat, but the layers made it hard to bend her elbows--they discussed their plan for the day. Led by Tonraq, they would travel by snowmobile to the Spirit World Portal. It was a long trip, so they would have to camp for the night, but the next day they would be trekking through the Spirit World looking for answers. “It’s warm there,” Korra said, nudging (Y/N) with her elbow. She smiled gratefully.
She decided to ride on the back of Korra’s snowmobile. Bolin would be on the back of Asami’s and while Mako also had his own, (Y/N) wasn’t sure if she wanted to have her arms wrapped around him for the entire trip, especially when they hadn’t discussed the things that happened between them. Her and Mako hadn’t discussed things at all, really. She knew they were on better terms since the first time they met, but he was so guarded and she was so scared that anything Mako had to say to her, she might not want to hear.
So, she waddled over to Korra’s snowmobile. “Mind if I ride with you?” She asked as Korra secured their supplies.
“Not at all!” Korra said, her face lighting up. Then she cleared her throat and turned her eyes back to tying knots. “Just be sure you hold on tight, okay?” (Y/N) nodded, managing a joking salute.
She wrapped her arms around Korra’s middle as tightly as she could, but it must not have been enough because as soon as Korra hit the gas, (Y/N) was flung off, landing on her back in the snow. She let out a shout of surprise, followed by a groan as she opened her eyes and saw Korra staring down at her. She wore a humored smile on her face. “I told you to hold on tight!”
“I was!” (Y/N) insisted as Korra helped her get back to her feet. She pulled some rope from their side pouch and wrapped it around (Y/N’s) waist, then tied it to her own.
“We do this for little kids sometimes, so they don’t get lost in the snow.” (Y/N) narrowed her eyes and stuck her tongue out at her. Korra laughed at the childishness and helped her get back on the snowmobile. Then they were off, (Y/N) much more secured this time around.
As they rode through the snowy hills, (Y/N) leaned her head on Korra’s back, taking in the sights of the Southern Water Tribe. Far out where the sea was, icy glaciers poked through the inky waters, shimmering against the sunlight. Everything was rather sparkly; if (Y/N) looked at the snow for too long her eyes felt sore. She turned her head and waved a gloved hand at Bolin, who gave her a thumbs up from his position behind Asami.
Sometimes, when she looked at Bolin, it physically hurt her heart. She knew it was some sort of physical reaction, something her body remembered that her head didn’t. The feeling increased when he had referred to them as being friends. There was nothing wrong with being friends, in fact she supposed that was better than any other alternative, but even now she had always thought there was something more between them. Perhaps she had interpreted everything wrong. There was a giant piece of her memory missing, after all, and all she knew was that she had really messed up Bolin when she had left. It was probably better if they were just friends. Bolin was great and she didn’t want to lose him a second time.
Their ride was so long that (Y/N) had eventually fallen asleep against Korra’s back, only to be awoken by the snowmobile coming to a jolted stop. She awoke and squeaked in fear, gripping on tighter to Korra.
“Sorry!” She said. “I’ve never been really good at breaking.”
“You’re going to tell me that after I spent hours on a giant metal deathtrap with you?” (Y/N) huffed.
“It wasn’t that bad considering you were snoring into my back,” Korra quipped, quickly turning herself around so she could untie them. “You sounded like a lion turtle.”
“I don’t even know what that is, but I’m sure you’re wrong.” (Y/N) slid off the snowmobile and began untying the packs.
“Lion turtles used to carry cities on their backs and bestow the gift of bending to humans occasionally.”
“Think we’ll find one in the Spirit World to grant me some powers?” (Y/N) asked. “What element do you think I’d bend? I think fire’s pretty cool but-”
“Oh, you’d be an airbender for sure,” Korra said as she hoisted two packs onto her back. (Y/N’s) face lit up.
“Really! Why do you think that? Is it because of my calm and collected nature?”
“It’s because you talk so much,” Korra explained. “You’re constantly bending air with your mouth.” She booped (Y/N) on the nose before making her way to the rest of the group.
“You’re hilarious! (Y/N) called after her, gathering her own packs onto her back. “Why don’t you stop being the Avatar and become a comedian instead!”
They set up their tents and made fire, which was easy work considering two out of the six people in the party were firebenders. As soon as (Y/N) finished her tasks she sat in front of the fire. She was probably too close, but she didn’t care. It’s warmth, albeit small, made her feel just a smidge less cold than she had been, and she’d take it. The rest of their group soon joined her, Asami sitting on one side and Korra sitting on the other. She appreciated the girls protecting her from any awkwardness that could potentially ensue from being near the boys.
“I’m thinking when we get to the Spirit World, we’ll try our luck at finding Iroh,” Korra explained. “He’s always got spirits around him, maybe one of them will know who took (Y/N’s) memories.”
“And if they don’t?” Mako questioned. “We can’t just wander around the Spirit World hoping for some clue.”
“Maybe I’ll start remembering again,” (Y/N) suggested. “Like when Bolin took me to the spot where we met. I got that memory back.”
“You also threw up and passed out from that,” Asami reminded her. (Y/N) pursed her lips.
“I can handle it,” (Y/N) reassured them. “At this point, I’ll do whatever it takes to get my memories back.”
“The Spirit World is magnificent, but it’s also dangerous,” Tonraq said. Night had fallen, and his face was illuminated only by the fire. “They might not be happy to see humans there, especially after what happened last time.”
“I’m the Avatar,” Korra said. “They have to at least listen to me.”
“I just want you all to be careful. Whatever took (Y/N’s) memories has to be powerful. Maybe dangerous.”
“We’ll be careful, Dad,” Korra reassured her father. Tonraq trusted his daughter’s abilities, that was obvious, but the worry he held for her was still evident on his features. (Y/N) swallowed, her mouth feeling dry. She hadn’t really considered that this could be a dangerous mission. If she was being honest, she had never really thought this far ahead. She had spent every day maneuvering around the different dynamics of the four friends, making sure that she didn’t overstep her boundaries or create unnecessary problems. She hadn’t considered what would be waiting for them on the other side of the Spirit Portal, or that the people she had grown to cherish would be put in danger for her sake.
Asami passed around their food and (Y/N) ate silently, considering this information. Her friends talked around her, but she was so distracted that their comments went in one ear and out the other. Once she finally zoned back in, it was just her, Korra, and Mako sitting around the fire.
Korra let out a big yawn, stretching her arms. “I’m absolutely beat,” She said. “I think I’m gonna turn in. You coming?” (Y/N) shook her head.
“I think I’ll stay near the warmth just a little longer.” Korra nodded and gave them a sloppy salute as she waded through the snow and to the tent she shared with Asami and (Y/N). It was just her and Mako now.
She stared at the flames of the fire and how they danced in the cold night air. Should she say something to Mako? This was the first time they had been alone together and neither of them had immediately made up somewhere else they needed to be. They’d be heading to the Spirit World tomorrow, so if there was any time for them to communicate, it should be now.
(Y/N) adjusted her coat, huddling further inside it. “Want me to make it bigger?” Mako asked, and (Y/N) nearly jumped, surprised to hear him talking to her. She looked at him, eyes wide and not quite understanding what he was talking about. “The fire, you want me to make it bigger?”
“Oh, no, that’s okay,” She said. Mako stared at her for a moment before making the fire larger and while she had said she hadn’t wanted that, (Y/N) was grateful. It was so hard to be straightforward with Mako sometimes, because of the way he jumbled her brain. It was like she didn’t even recognize herself when she was around him anymore. Before, only one emotion accompanied being around Mako, and that was anger. Now, (Y/N) felt a whole range of emotions when she looked at his amber eyes. “I think we should talk,” She said finally, wincing at how small her voice sounded.
“I think so too,” And he gave her a half smile. (Y/N) nodded, but both of them remained silent. How should she start? How did people even communicate properly? Perhaps the thing (Y/N) was most excited about getting her memories back was how to talk to people normally. She felt so awkward!
“Why’d you kiss me?” She asked suddenly, her face heating from embarrassment. Mako’s eyebrows shot to the top of his forehead.
“Oh,” He coughed. “I mean, well, it’s a little--it’s like--” (Y/N) couldn’t help giggling. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing!” She insisted, biting down her smile. “You just...you seem so tough and confident and aloof sometimes that it’s funny to see you act so...”
“Embarrassing?” He guessed. (Y/N) shook her head.
“Normal?” She tilted her head and shrugged. “You don’t always have to wear this tough guy act, you know.”
“It’s not an act,” Mako insisted, but he and (Y/N) exchanged a look that had them both stifling back their laughter. “Maybe sometimes. People believe you’re tough if you act like it. Keeps you from getting your stuff stolen when you’re sleeping in a gutter.”
“You grew up on the streets?” (Y/N) guessed. Mako nodded.
“Sometimes I forget what you know and what you don’t.”
“Me too, if we’re being honest.” They paused into a silence that wasn’t necessarily uncomfortable, just full of anticipation. “They teach you how to dodge questions on the streets, too?”
Mako sighed, running a hand through his black hair. “It’s not easy for me to explain stuff like this. Bolin’s the one that can talk about emotions and feelings.”
(Y/N) smiled. “Bolin can talk about anything.”
“When we were arguing on that balcony, I wasn’t just angry at you for being here. You hurt Bolin a long time ago, but watching you be with my brother and knowing that I could never be with you...that hurt, too. You were so close to me that night and something inside of me said I should kiss you and once the idea popped into my head, I couldn’t get it out. I think I hoped that once I did it, it’d be some sort of release. Like a way to get it all out so I’d stop feeling like that.”
“Was it?”
Mako looked directly into her eyes. Normally, his gaze would make (Y/N) feel weird and she would have to look away. She couldn’t bring herself to do that tonight.
“Not at all,” He admitted. “I thought I had gotten over you once you disappeared, but once you came back it all hit me full force.”
(Y/N) thought for a moment about what she wanted to say. Then, she took a deep breath. “I don’t have any memories to base my feelings off of. But there are certain things, feelings, that I remember that I can’t place. They’re just there.” She placed a hand over her heart. “It happens when I look at Bolin. I remember feelings, like sadness and regret, but I don’t know why. It’s overwhelming sometimes, discerning emotions. The things that I feel for Bolin, they’re like past feelings that I’m remembering. Kind of.” She squinted her eyes shut. She wasn’t sure if she was explaining this right, but she was trying her best. “But when I look at you, now that the anger has subsided, I feel things now. Being around you feels nice and when you talk to me, I feel very...light and relieved. I can barely hold your gaze without blushing, and--and I think about you. A lot more than a friend should, I think.”
“But,” She continued. “I don’t have all of my memories back. I don’t know how or why I left and I don’t know if things will change once I do.”
“I get it,” Mako said. “As much as someone with memories can.” (Y/N) gave him a small smile. “And I don’t want to confuse you even more, because I’m sure being around Bolin is confusing enough as it is.”
“You have no idea,” (Y/N) breathed.
“I’m glad I told you. Almost two years and I finally admitted to my brother’s ex-girlfriend that I had a crush on her the whole time. This is a big day for me.”
“The whole time?” (Y/N) questioned. “When did you realize that you liked me?”
“I think Kya told us that we couldn’t share too much about the past with you, or else you might lose your memories forever?” (Y/N) pouted. “Fine, but if you can’t get your memories back, don’t blame me.” The wind picked up over them and he scooted closer to her so that he wouldn’t have to shout over it.
“Aye-aye, Captain,” (Y/N) said, giving a small salute. She rested her chin in the palm of her glove in order to pay attention.
“There was this one time when you got to our place. Bolin wasn’t there yet, I think he was out performing tricks with Pabu. It was cold outside, one of the coldest days Republic City had had in a while. You came in and you were like an icicle. You were shaking and had forgotten your coat and decided to walk halfway across the city to our place. I gave you a blanket and one of Bolin’s coats, but your hands were still like ice, so I used a little firebending to warm them up.” Mako remembered the feeling of your hands completely encased in his. “I held your hands for a while, until they were warm enough. I got up to leave for work and you grabbed my hand and pulled me back down onto the couch. You said, ‘Stay, Mako! I love having you around.’ So, I stayed. We talked all day until Bolin got home, and I ended up losing that job, but spending that time with you made it all worth it.”
(Y/N) sat silently for a long while before saying, “I’m sorry for making you lose your job.”
Mako laughed. “It’s cool,” He said. “I wasn’t a very good delivery boy anyway.”
(Y/N) pulled off her gloves, exposing her hands to the cold winter air. “Do you think you could...?” She offered her hands to Mako. He gave her a small smile and nodded, removing his own gloves and taking her hands in his. (Y/N) let out a happy sigh of relief at the feeling of warmth that emanated from his skin.
“I’m sorry for being so mean to you at first,” Mako said. “I just didn’t want Bolin to get hurt again.”
“I understand,” She said quietly. “I’d probably do the same if I were you.” Cautiously, she leaned her head on Mako’s shoulder. They sat like that for a long while, staring at the fire as Mako held her hands in his. While she was probably even more confused about her emotions than before, part of her hoped that whatever happened in the Spirit World wouldn’t change how she was feeling right now. She wanted to see where this could go.
---
Once the cold became too much for either of them to bear, Mako and (Y/N) parted ways. Korra and Asami were fast asleep when she entered their tent and slid into her sleeping bag. She fell asleep quickly, her hands still warm, but it felt like she was asleep for only moments when Korra shook her awake in the morning.
“One more hour,” (Y/N) grumbled, rolling over to avoid Korra’s gaze. The Avatar scoffed.
“I already let you sleep in as late as possible!” She gently kicked (Y/N’s) butt. “Up! Spirit World today, woohoo!” A very groggy (Y/N) reluctantly left the warmth of her sleeping bag. The early morning sun was absolutely blinding as she walked out of the tent. (Y/N) let out an unhappy grumble.
“Tea?” Asami offered, handing (Y/N) a thermos. (Y/N) smiled gratefully at her and took a long sip of the beverage, feeling it warm her from the inside out.
“Thank you so much!” (Y/N) said. “I needed that.”
“You were up pretty late,” Asami said, giving her a knowing smile. “Any particular reason?” (Y/N) shrugged playfully as she loaded her sleeping bag onto Korra’s snowmobile.
“Mako and I finally talked.”
“And? How’d that go?” Asami glanced over at Mako’s who sleepily nodded at whatever Bolin was excitedly saying to him. (Y/N) lightly slapped her friend’s arm.
“Don’t stare!” She laughed. “It went fine. We talked about our feelings, actually.” Asami’s eyes widened in excitement and she opened her mouth to say something, but (Y/N) cut her off. “And while there are some feelings there, I told him how until I got my memories back, nothing could be certain.”
Asami hummed in approval. “Seems like a good resolution.”
“What’s a good resolution?” Korra came over to tie her own belongings to the snowmobile.
“Mako and (Y/N) finally talked about their kiss.”
“Woah!” Korra exclaimed. “Are you guys dating now?”
“I’m missing like seventy-five percent of my memories and you think we’d be dating?” (Y/N) snipped. Korra shrugged.
“I don’t know what goes on in your head!”
“Like I told Asami, it was a good conversation. We talked about our feelings but I said that until I got my memories back, nothing could be done. I mean, what if I get them back and there was actually a non-Spirit World reason for why I was so awful to Bolin?” (Y/N) shook her head. “I was honest about how I felt and I think that’s good progress.”
“You know Korra,” Asami started. “Weren’t you telling me yesterday how much your bag hurt from having (Y/N) hold onto you?”
“What? No?” Korra said, furrowing her dark brows. Asami elbowed her sharply in the side.
“Remember? You said she held on too tight? Don’t you think that today you should ride on the snowmobile by yourself, since you’ll need to be at your best Avatar abilities in the Spirit World?”
“I know what you guys are doing and I’m having absolutely none of it!” (Y/N) insisted. “I’m riding with Korra, end of story.”
“Oh, I see what’s happening here,” Korra said. She placed her hands on her lower back. “Oh, yep, there’s definitely a tough knot there and it’s all (Y/N’s) fault. I don’t think I can ride on a snowmobile with you anymore.”
“I thought the Avatar was supposed to bring peace, but all you’re causing is chaos,” (Y/N) hissed.
“Hey, Mako!” Asami called out. Mako looked over to them, raising a questioning eyebrow as (Y/N) banged her head against the snowmobile. “Do you think (Y/N) can ride with you for today? Korra’s back is absolutely killing her.”
“Ow~!” Korra drawled dramatically.
“Uh, sure?” Mako questioned. He walked over to Korra’s vehicle and untied (Y/N’s) pack from it. “I think Tonraq said we were leaving in a few minutes, so I’ll be over there.”
“Sounds great, she’ll be right there,” Asami said.
“I’m not going,” (Y/N) said with a shake of her head.
“I thought you said it was a good conversation?” Korra questioned.
“You guys are so lucky I’m not a bender and I’m not very good at hand-to-hand combat because--” She shook her fist at both of them. “You’d be getting it!” She stomped over to Mako, a frown etched on her face.
“Everything alright?” He asked. She let the frown fade from her face.
“Everything’s fine,” She said with a sigh. “Korra and Asami are just being big pains.”
“Don’t I know it.” Mako strapped his helmet and placed (Y/N’s) on top of her head, buckling it underneath her chin. He then tied a rope that connected the two of them, as Korra had done yesterday. “Safety first,” He said with a smile. (Y/N) felt her face flush as he helped her onto the snowmobile. Shyly, she wrapped her arms around his middle, and then they were off toward the Spirit World Portal.
This trip was much shorter than the previous day’s. The portal was only an hour or two away from where they had camped. While (Y/N) was surprised that they had arrived so soon, there was no doubt that they were there, as the portal was a beam of warm yellow light that shot into the sky. It lay in the middle of the woods, only accessible by foot.
They parked their snowmobiles on the outskirts of the woods. Tonraq began setting up his tent; they had agreed that someone should stay behind with a radio just in case anything went wrong and they needed backup. But to (Y/N’s) surprise, Asami was setting up her own tent as well.
“You’re not coming with us?” She asked. Asami raised an eyebrow and shook her head.
“We agreed before you woke up this morning that someone else should stay behind with Korra’s dad to help keep watch. You obviously need to go, as does Korra, and I knew Bolin and Mako would be absolutely horrible if they had no idea what was going on inside. So, I decided to stay.”
(Y/N) frowned. While the reasoning was sound, it still made her sad that Asami wouldn’t be accompanying them on their journey. She and (Y/N) had developed a real friendship over the last few weeks. They had spent nearly all of their time together. It would be strange, not having her around.
“Be safe, okay?” (Y/N) asked, throwing her arms around Asami and squeezing her into a hug.
“You’re going into a completely new dimension and you’re telling me to be safe?” Asami laughed, but she wrapped her arms around (Y/N’s) frame and hugged tightly. “I can’t wait to hear all about your memories.” The two friends parted and (Y/N) lifted her pack onto her back.
“Ready?” Korra asked, and she, Bolin, and Mako nodded. Their group said their goodbyes to Tonraq and Asami before Korra led them into the woods.
“The last time I was here, I was frozen into a block of ice by an ex-girlfriend,” Bolin said. (Y/N) raised an eyebrow at him. “It wasn’t you! It was Korra’s cousin from the Northern Water Tribe.”
“The one with the evil dad?” (Y/N) asked.
“That’s the one!” Bolin nodded.
“This is it,” Korra said as they stopped in front of the Spirit World Portal. (Y/N) could feel its energy radiating from outside the forest, but now it was even more prominent. “Next stop, Spirit World.” She turned around to look at (Y/N), whose face looked as if she had seen a ghost. “Everything alright?”
(Y/N) nodded, gulping. “I’m okay,” She nodded again, trying to convince herself that she was speaking the truth. What if getting her memories back wasn’t necessarily a good thing? Something had blocked them out. Perhaps they had done it for her own benefit. But they had come this far, so she remained silent as she stepped through the threshold and into the Spirit World.
It was an odd feeling, transitioning between two planes. It felt like each particle of (Y/N’s) body was buzzing, until suddenly she was on the other side and staring at so many colors, some that she was sure she had never seen before. She released the breath she had been holding as she stepped through.
Indescribable beings flew overhead, cawing and cooing at them. Korra had been right: the Spirit World was significantly warmer than the South Pole. The group removed their jackets as (Y/N) took in her surroundings. Currently, they stood in the middle of a rocky wasteland, but patches of flowers and grass popped up here and there. In the middle stood a gnarled tree with a hollowed out middle.
“That’s the Tree of Time,” Korra explained. “That’s where the first Avatar had imprisoned Vaatu, the dark spirit that I defeated a month ago. His energy made this part of the Spirit World a wasteland, but it’s healing.”
“It’s beautiful,” (Y/N) breathed, and Korra smiled. Their group walked across the barren land to the greener parts of the Spirit World. Butterfly-like animals flittered around them as they walked and Korra explained her many trips to this place. Mako and Bolin had been here as well, although they had never been further than the Tree of Time. That helped (Y/N) feel less out of place.
“There it is!” Korra exclaimed, and then she started running. The others dashed behind her, not quite sure of where she was going, until a small house appeared seemingly out of nowhere and they were right in front of it. A small tea party of spirits and one human sat at a table in the garden.
“Korra!” The old man exclaimed. “Welcome back! We were just about to start afternoon tea.” He peaked behind her at her friends. “And you brought company! The more the better, I think I have some extra teacups in the house.”
“Hi, Iroh,” Korra said. “We really appreciate it, but we don’t really have time--” But the old man was already headed inside his house. When he returned, he held four additional teacups and a bright smile on his face.
“Sit, sit,” He insisted. Korra looked to (Y/N), who shrugged, and dropped her backpack to the ground and took a seat. If having tea was what she needed to do in order to get her memories back, then she would do it. “You!” Iroh said as he placed (Y/N’s) teacup in front of her. “I’ve heard many things about you. Welcome back.”
“Back?” (Y/N) questioned, looking at her friends. “I’ve been here before?”
“You are (Y/N), yes?” She nodded. “When Korra first visited me to ask about you, I did not know much.” He placed a hand to the side of his mouth. “Spirits are horrible gossips sometimes, and I did not want to lead the Avatar on a path different from the one you must take. But I have asked many a visitor about you and they have all said the same thing: you were here, not too long ago, but you were here for a while.”
“Why was she here?” Mako questioned before (Y/N) could. Iroh sighed as he poured their tea.
“Whatever the reason, it was not good. Many of my friends say they saw her enter the dark part of our realm and she did not leave for a long time.”
“It’s true!” One of the spirits interjected, an oddly blue wolf. “I saw you months ago with my own four eyes. You looked nothing like you do now. You came through the portals, yeah? Last time, someone brought you here the other way.”
“You mean through meditation?” Korra asked. The spirit nodded.
“Whatever it was, something powerful had to do it. I couldn’t do nothing like that.”
“So, powerful spirit in the dark parts of the Spirit World. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but it doesn’t sound like something a good spirit would do.” (Y/N) looked to Iroh to confirm her suspicions.
“Spirits are neither good nor bad, unless we are discussing Vaatu and Raava. But there are some spirits whose motives become skewed.”
(Y/N) deflated in her seat. The spirit who had taken her memories was powerful and most likely dangerous. And if they found it, she would be leading her friends right to them.
They finished their tea with Iroh before continuing on their journey. Bolin had talked excitedly with him about his adventures with Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko, whoever those people were, and Iroh gave him a Jasmine Dragon teacup to take back to the mortal realm. The entire time that they talked, (Y/N) was incredibly distracted by what Iroh had told them.
“We should go back,” (Y/N) said suddenly. All three of her friends stopped and looked at her as if she were insane.
“But, you need to get your memories back,” Bolin said.
“I’ll just start over,” She insisted. “I can start fresh. Whatever this spirit is, it isn’t good, and I don’t want to hand you guys to it on a silver platter. We’ll go back and I’ll just learn to live without my memories.”
“There are pieces of you you’ll never get back. Important memories that might have meant a lot to you. You deserve answers, (Y/N), for everything that’s happened to you.” Bolin grabbed her hands and she felt that same shock of electricity run through her body every time he touched her.
“It’s not worth it if it means you guys will get hurt.”
“Stop trying to play hero,” Mako said suddenly, his voice much harsher than it had been the night before. “If we didn’t want to be here to help you, we wouldn’t be.”
“You shouldn’t be helping me. You guys fight every day for the greater good, for the people of the world. I’m one person. You can’t get yourselves hurt over one person. This,” She gestured to the entirety of the Spirit World, but referred to their mission. “Isn’t as important than whatever is going on back in the mortal world.”
“But you’re important,” Korra said suddenly. “You’re important to Bolin and Mako and you’ve become important to Asami and I. The Avatar fights for the greater good, but as your friend, I’ll do whatever it takes so that you can feel like yourself again.”
(Y/N) felt her eyes watering. Why weren’t they getting it? “If anything happened to you guys while we’re here, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself.”
“And if we gave up on you, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself,” Bolin said. She looked up at him through watery eyes. “No matter what we’ve been through, we care about you. I care about you. And we’re going to get that dumb spirit to give your memories back.”
(Y/N) looked from him to Korra to Mako, whose head immediately turned as soon as her eyes landed on him. “Okay,” she said. “But I think this is a horrible idea.”
“I find that horrible ideas make the best stories,” Bolin said with a smile.

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime, books, movies or tv series)? Thanks....
Hello,
First of, thank you for asking!
I will try to make the list as even as I can (so I will do 5 male and 5 female characters). The characters are going to be in no particular order.
Let's start with our girls - women rule!
1. Aki Izayoi (Yu-Gi-Oh 5ds)
Tumblr media
Ever since I watched Yu-Gi-Oh 5d's, she has been my favorite. Aki had such a good backstory and it was heartbreaking how many hardships she had to go through before finding real friends. Her deck is also really cool and she remains my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh Girl to this day.
2. Lucy Heartfilia (Fairy tail)
Tumblr media
Lucy is not really that strong, but she has such a huge love for her friends and that makes her so likeable in my book. Without her the guilde would still be disband.
3. Ciara Brady (Dool)
Tumblr media
This list would be incomplete without this kickass queen. Ciara is a real badass like her mom and I really love how she is so headstrong and kind at the same time. I also admire her dedication to her husband, a reformed serial killer. She always believed in him and she stood up for him, never doubting there is good inside him.
4. Asami Sato (Legend of Korra)
Tumblr media
I had a hard time picking between her and Katara xD Asami was introduced as a love interest and became so much more during the show. She grew a lot, started her own company and became a viable member of Team Avatar. Also she is super gorgeous, so what's not to love?
5. Hinata Hyuuga (Naruto)
Tumblr media
Hinata was always my favorite kunoichi in Naruto. She was shy and not very strong, but she worked her butt of to impress the guy she liked. Not only that - she became a huge inspiration for her sister, so that Hinabi could become a heiress to the Hyuuga clan.
As for the males:
1. Ash Lynx (Banana fish)
Tumblr media
To no ones surprise Ash is on this list xD He is such a complicated character and so tragic that I bawl my eyes out every time I watch Banana fish again. Yet he is resiliant and he was willing to love again after being deeply hurt. I really admire his courage and intelligence.
2. Evan Buckley (911)
Tumblr media
Buck is such an idiot, but super duper kind on the inside. He always puts his family and friends before himself and I love his dedication to his job, because it's his dream.
3. Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto)
Tumblr media
Naruto taught me so much! Never give up, believe in yourself and your goals. Be kind, you don't need to resort to violence, try talking it out first. Just everything about him makes him a good leader and an even better friend.
4. Alec Lightwood (Shadowhunters/MI)
Tumblr media
Can't write a lot about him, because tumblr blocked his tag xD He is just really cool and I admire him for coming out and breaking tradition in a world that was totally against him.
5. Tendou Satori (Haikyuu)
Tumblr media
Listen, this might be controversial as hell, but Tendou is in my top 3 Haikyuu characters. I immediately fell in love with his quirky personality. His backstory is also super sad, but he pulled through and he is proud of himself.
So that would be it! I hope I answered everything. Feel free to ask me anything anytime!

You know, Amon talks a big game about nonbender oppression but I really don’t see solid evidence that there is systemic prejudice against them. For my money the real bending-related bigotry is:
The Avatar universe against bloodbenders. Yeah, bloodbending someone without their consent should be illegal; that’s basically just a type of assault. But there is no reason to make the ability as a whole illegal. Aside from all the potential medicinal applications, what two or more people consensually get up to in the privacy of their own bedrooms is none of y’all’s business.
The Korra writers against fire benders. Why does everyone’s tragic backstory involve parents getting killed by a fire bender? I see why it was necessary in Amon’s fake backstory, but Asami’s mom could have just as easily been killed by an earth or water bender and Mako and Bolin’s parents didn’t have to be killed by a bender at all. But I guess when the Korra writers think vicious thug, they think fire bender.
And Tenzin. That’s right, I’m coming for season 3 Tenzin and his anti-nonbender Air Nomad prejudice. Running around after the airbenders who don’t even care about the culture being like “finally we can rebuild the Air Nation.” Thanks Tenzin, I’m sure the Air Acolytes are feeling real good about themselves right about now.

Consider the idea of Lin /Bumi badly timed proposals"? (just a humble linumi shipper loving your fanfics)
Note: Here's my belated response to this prompt. It ran away from me again until I struggled to close the story out. Hope you like it!
One-shot Post-canon AU Lin x Bumi II
Also on AO3.
---
Outside of the military, Bumi was known to be the spontaneous one. The Avatar’s child who was the most likely to get into trouble. Or get into an adventure, as his grinning father would correct. He was the kid who took quickly to throwing fruit pies to the air acolytes. He was the teen who travelled to the next city because there was a Pro-bending competition happening there. As an adult, he was also the one who tried (and succeeded in) applying for the United Forces on a whim.
It was not often that Bumi would plan for anything linked to his personal life.
This was why, on the weeks leading up to that Night (with a capital N), he felt out of his depth. He did what he did best and tried to plan as he would regarding a military campaign.
This was why he thought he was assured of success.
What he did not count on was the extraneous factors, which was their extended family and social circle.
That – and the weather.
---
“Booms -I’m sorry, it’s not going to work out.” Iroh’s voice crackled over the telephone. “That downpour wouldn’t make anything stick long enough to be legible.”
Bumi sighed as he peered at the window of Tenzin’s study. The waves did crash unpleasantly against the edge of Air Temple Island as the rain fell. “Well, we can still move it tomorrow, right? You and the boys are still free?”
“Of course, provided that the weather is better. As for our availability - ,” Whatever Iroh said was lost as the line crackled again as it was wont to do when the weather was poor. Bumi clicked his tongue. Tenzin really needed to have some repairs made in this temple. “- So after that, we can definitely pick it up for you.”
“Great!” Bumi could care less if they need to adjust the timing a bit – as long as it pushesthrough.
He did not need the details.
---
Or maybe, he should have probed for more details.
The retired commander saw that now as he watched visitors mill around Air Temple Island.
Various air acolytes and airbenders from the different temples now crowd the usually empty courtyard.
How was he to know that it was time for the anniversary of the return of the airbenders? He did not even know there was an identified datefor that.
Or maybe, he would have known had he listened to Tenzin’s lectures.
He scratched his chin, pensively, wondering if this might change anything when something cold and wet lashed at his behind.
“Hello, Bumi.” His sister walked over, a water whip formed at her side, grinning as she usually did.
“Mother said you shouldn’t hit people.”
“Mother said a lot of things that you didn’t follow.” Kya crossed her arms mockingly. She nodded to the entrance of the residential building where their mother stood, surrounded by her youngest grandchildren.
He understood. They never could begrudge their mother anything, especially now with her waning health.
A sea of green passed in the periphery.
“I see Suyin and her brood are here.” Bumi contemplated briefly if it would have any impact to his plans.
Kya commented. “Did they really have to be always in green?”
“Did you always have to be in blue?”
“Touche.” Kya shrugged. “Though, I needed to be blue to occasionally camouflage in the South Pole if I needed to be stealthy.”
“For what?”
From afar, they see Katara beckoning Kya forward from where she and Pema stood by the stoop of the house. “I’ll go get settled now.”
Bumi excused himself, citing some reason to check on something, which, technically he needed to do.
“Tenzin said nothing formal; nothing big. Just a small gathering.” The loud voice of the Avatar grumbled.
The clinking of metal was heard next before Bumi rounded the corner. “And yet, everyone is here.”
“Chief Beifong!”
“Avatar.” Lin inclined her head in greeting, with blank politeness on her face.
Bumi knew better though – the slight tightening of her jaw and the grip she had on her belt: oh, Lin was irritated.
“What’s up?” Korra toyed with the sleeves of her formal wear, obviously uncomfortable.
“How are your travels?” Bumi interjected, popping beside Lin before she manages any acerbic remark.
“We are travelling in style! I think I could get used to it.”
“I think you already are.” Asami looked on with amusement.
“You’re lucky,” Bumi pointed towards where Oogi and the younger bison were flying around. “Dad had to travel on a sky bison.”
“Mom said it wasn’t pleasant.” Lin wrinkled her nose.
“There! You! Are!” Bolin ran and huffed as he arrived before them, doubling over in the effort. “Wing and Wei just found where the food was being prepared, we can sneak off to get some before the– oh hello Chief Beifong!”
“I did not hear anything.” Lin looked skyward and waved her hand at them.
“Beifong!” Bumi quickly caught up with Lin, who strode off quickly when the teenagers started talking about food. “Are you on duty?”
“Yes.” Lin sighed, putting her hand on her hips then stomping, doing a seismic perimeter check. “I know, but I have to.”
“I’ll look for you later.”
“Alright. We’re a bit stretched – Tenzin did not give us the correct numbers of attendees, as usual.” Her forehead crinkled as she concentrated on the perimeter check. “Good thing the Fire Lord sent General Iroh and some of his men to represent their nation.”
“Oh, that’s what he meant.” Bumi murmured to himself.
Lin glanced at him in askance.
“Iroh.” Bumi did not want to expound further. Lin had a way of ferreting out the truth from him without seismic sense anyway.
Bumi accompanied her like a silent sentinel as Chief Beifong went about doing check to her team and on the island.
They have finally arrived at the main courtyard where the usually unflappable master airbender was fluttering about like a bright orange butterfly, holding several sheets of paper, which no doubt was the program for the day.
Lin groaned when Tenzin noticed them.
“Lin!”
“I better go ahead.” With one final eye-rolling, Lin left Bumi’s side before he could even ask where she will be stationed at the end of the program.
“Trouble in paradise?”
Bumi jumped a bit, startled by Kya once again. “Of course not, my meddling gossipy sister.”
She offered him a drink, which he rightly declined. “What’s Tenzin up to?”
The man was now talking rapidly to the chief of police. They were far enough not to hear them but near enough to see what was going on.
“He’s quite excitable.” The retired military man shrugged. “Thank the spirits for Pema, that woman is a saint.”
“You mean, thank the spirits for Lin,” Kya nodded towards the pair as she took a sip of her drink. “Pema was just about ready to rip her hair off these past days. She was looking quite frazzled earlier and after a drink or two, bam! Out tumbled everything - Tenzin was anxious and has been driving her nuts with all the prep for today’s celebration.” She raised a glass to the earthbender and airbender on the main event area. “But look over there – just a few words from our dear Chief of Police and the man calms down.”
Bumi could not help but tense up as he observed Lin and Tenzin on the platform.
As Lin continued to converse with his younger brother, Tenzin began to slowly deflate. A smile started to form on the earlier stressed airbender’s face and the corner of Lin’s lips upturned, a ghost of a smile.
“I swear – those two, I wonder how it would have turned out for them had they known this was going to happen anyway…” Kya trails off, as though suddenly realizing who she was talking to. “I mean – hey, they’re both in happy relationships and it’s perfect and -.”
Bumi swallowed drily, drowning out his sister’s voice.
He had thought about that occasionally, really. There was nothing to go on and Lin had been upfront about, well, everything so he knew where her heart is.
But, looking at the pair now, at the anniversary of the return of the airbenders, supposedly the pinnacle of all their arguments…
“Booms – don’t do anything stupid.”
Now that snapped him from his maudlin thoughts. “Why is it that everyone thinks I’m gonna do something stupid when I keep quiet? It’s a bit offensive, you know.”
“Bumi, I didn’t mean -.”
No matter, Bumi was adamant that his Plan pushes through.
---
“POP! POP! BOOOM! BOOOM POP! Whiiiizzz! BOOM!”
Everyone on Air Temple Island (and even those at the edge of Republic City) looked up to see fireworks littering the night sky.
“BEIFONG… WILL…YOU… ohmy sweet - is that a ring??? .. ME.” Suyin squealed as she read what the fireworks were spelling out.
There was a cacophony from the courtyard of Air Temple Island as everyone sought to find which Beifong was being proposed to.
From their perches around the island, Iroh and the UF men whooped in success of their mission tonight – deploying the firework proposal.
“OH-MY-BOLIIIIN!”
All eyes were on Opal who was clutching at a wide-eyed earthbender.
“What?!”
Various voices added to the din, shouting different things.
“Bolin did you really?!” Mako pointed up to the sky.
“What – no I did not. I’m not marrying – I mean,” Bolin swiftly turned to Opal. “I would like to marry you.” Then he shouted at Su and Baatar Senior’s direction. “But not now. One day but not now – I mean, I need to talk to Su and Baat – oh shit Su’s gonna kill me.”
Attention turned to Baatar and Suyin.
“Um no,” Baatar shrugged casually, an arm around his wife. “It’s not our anniversary anytime soon.”
Suyin was still being antsy. “Wing! Wei! Did any of you -?” She saw her twins wave up their arms in surrender, wildly shaking their heads as they each held a plate of food. “If that’s not you…”
“Kuvira and Junior –.” Wei.
“That is unlikely.” Wing.
“Huan?” Both Wing and Wei asked, everyone’s heads swiveled to the artistic Beifong.
“Excuse me.” Huan looked very offended, as though it was an insult that someone would be proposing to him in public.
Bumi’s face fell as the Beifongs present began arguing as to who the firework proposal was for and the actual Beifong who the proposal was meant for was nowhere to be seen.
Just then a soft squeal and a sniffle came from Kya’s side.
Pema was holding to her arm. “No-no-no – it’s for Lin, don’t you see? That’s why – Tenzin is leaving me.” Every other word was punctuated with a sniffle. “That’s why they’ve been talking over plans and that’s why – I saw them talk to Jinora the other day. Oh-airbenders-Tenzin is -leaaving me.”
“Ahem, I have an announcement!”
Now, everyone turned to stare back at the platform where Tenzin stood. Behind him, stood two more people - Lin Beifong stood in his shadows, arms crossed, a guard observing the proceedings, while Jinora stood to the side with a nervous smile, hands at her back.
“Ooohhhh!” Pema let out a wail.
“Shh, Pema!”
Bumi froze. There have been still some lingering insecurities that were in relation to his brother that would take a long time to tamp down. With the man’s whimpering wife at the side and his own significant other beside said man, it did not take much to wear Bumi down to his insecurities.
“This has been a long time coming and before anything else,” Tenzin paused at this to throw a significant look at his back. “I would like to say that this is no split second decision, we’ve talked about it and well –.”
No way he was going to let Tenzin take over his plan tonight.
“I will be stepping down soon with Jinora as my successor.”
“LinBeifong, will you marry me?”
Two voices rang into the night, clearly silencing any other words that might have been going on.
Bumi did not care for or did not mind what the reactions of the people around them were. He only had eyes for the earthbender who was gaping at him then looking back at the sky then back at him.
He worried the longer it took for Lin to react.
From his side, Pema sagged in relief against her sister-in-law while Jinora and Tenzin stood at the platform, greeting well-wishers.
Lin, meanwhile, was yet to do anything other than stand still.
“OH – we forgot the most eligible Beifong of today!” Bolin stated the obvious, pointing to the sky and back at Chief Beifong on the stage.
“What are you doing, go get her.” Kya nudged him from the back.
Bumi ran to the stage, almost tripping on his formal robes. “Lin – I’m so sorry – I didn’t think it would be this public – I -.” Lin hated public displays. “I ain’t doing this to pressure, I -.”
Lin gripped his arm to stop him from speaking.
The crowd went silent as Suyin could be heard shushing everyone (“Quiet! We need to hear what her answer is!”).
Bumi’s heart sank as Lin pulled away from him.
This is it. The Rejection.
He could only look to the ground, unwilling to face family, friends and even his former colleagues in the UF.
Suddenly there was a rumble on the ground as Lin extended a leg in front of her and she raised her arms slowly with a grunt.
“YES – BUMI – I – WILL – dear Agni – Liiiin is marrying Bumi!” Su’s shrill voice read out the words etched on the courtyard.
Tenzin groaned, mumbling about the destruction of his courtyard.
“Shut it, airhead. That courtyard has seen worse when you broke up with -.”
Nope, he did not want to hear about their break-up and so Bumi took Lin in his arms and planted a nice long kiss to seal the deal.
He pulled back and was met with a large grin on Lin’s face.
It might not have worked as he expected or planned it to be but at least, he could honestly say that it was -
Mission accomplished.

⭐️ hello ma'am please go nuts talking about a scene of your choice if you are so inclined👀
sksjdhhsjsjskakssq thank you for enabling me, you lovely soul
Okay so the bit that immediately comes to mind is this passage from It’s Enough to Make a Girl Blush (excerpt is sfw but please mind rating and tags if you’re going to read the whole fic lol):
“You said Naga rolled in some flowers before you gave her the bath, right?”
“Yeah, they were yellow and they were growing on a little tree in the forest.”
Asami returned to her search in the massive encyclopedia currently crushing her thighs. Okay, Page 462, poisonous flowering plants. She skimmed the list of flora and their associated poisoning symptoms. Lily of the valley causes seizures, lobelia causes tremors, oleander, drooling, peace lily, also drooling…
At the next entry, Asami’s eyes lit up.
“Korra? Do you know if there’s… shit, I don’t know how you pronounce it, ‘pinnaculum’ growing on this island?”
“If there’s what?” Korra asked, her face now cradled in her hands.
“Flowering pinnaculum.” Asami punctuated the name with a jab to the page that, of course, Korra could not see. “It’s native to the coast, has flowers, obviously. And all the symptoms match yours: elevated heart rate, sweating, dilated pupils, and…” Oh.
Okay so this is a deeply unserious fic and I had so, so much fun with it. One of my favorite things ever is doing research, making lists, etc. about random bullshit.
I had a pretty solid idea of the image I wanted to work with as the beginning of this fic— Naga covered in pollen, Korra mad that she has to give the dog a bath. Where I grew up, there was a solid couple of weeks in the spring where outside was just disgusting with pollen— it’s neon yellow, it’s sticky, it cakes and accumulates, and it’s everywhere. My mom would let our pets play in the backyard and we had more than one mostly-white cat. You can imagine what that looks like when the cats come back inside after rolling in the cakes of pollen outside. Naga is a huge, fluffy white dog— wouldn’t it be such a nightmare to try to get that off of her? Not to mention of course what happens later on.
I was reasonably certain there wasn’t a plant just like the one I was imagining (though of course I checked) so I decided to invent my own. I needed a name for it, so I’m researching ancient sex-related words and I land on pinnaculum— root of pinnacle. Ya know. And then add ‘flowering’ to it because a) it’s a plant name and b) Ya know.
So then I have to research what plants would have entries around pinnaculum in the encyclopedia, and that leads me down a rabbit hole of looking up poisonous flowering plants that grow on the coast in environments similar to the United Republic’s, as well as what symptoms they cause. From there, I have to cut it down to make it read like Asami’s just skimming the entries as opposed to reading the full things. I found it funny that a lot of them cause drooling, so that made it in there.
And then the idea that Asami, as smart as she is, had to literally have it spelled out for her in order to reckon with it (combined with Korra being so stubborn and awkward that she won’t cop to it until it’s spelled out) was so amusing to me that as soon as I thought of it, I knew it had to be the turning point of the fic.
So there you have it, some insight into simultaneously the filthiest and goofiest thing I’ve ever written😌

The Dinner
(Kyalin) Cannon to The Box series.
Tenzin took a seat, sitting Rohan on his lap, bouncing his soon to be toddler.
"Oh, Bataar isn't he the cutest thing?" Suyin said fawning over the little.
"He's adorable." Bataar replied. "Any signs of bending yet?" Bataar asked.
"Well, I can't be totally sure, but I think we have another airbender on our hands!" Suyin cheered, drawing attention to herself.
"I would do anything for another one." She said, causing her husband's eyes to widen in fear.
"No. Please.""oh come on, one more honey." Bataar scoffed, moving to sit with his sons. Su frowned returning her gaze back to Rohan. She was caught off guard when her sister took a seat beside her.
"Lin! You made it!" She smiled, Lin nodded, setting down a place full of food Kya sat next to her and Suyin reached over to shake her hand.
"Its been too long, Kya."
"Much, there's so much to catch you up on, Su." The waterbender said, looking to Lin who ignored her. It wasn't long before Mako and Bolin stumbled into the room, heaving and leaning on each other.
"Hey! Take it outside!" Pema shouted, nearly spilling a tray of beverages.
"Sorry its just- Korra?" Mako asked.
"Shes outside with Asami, they'll be in as soon as Korra gets a whiff of this fish." Tonraq said, eyeing up the dish.
"Can't wait." They pushed past the crowd and Su rolled her eyes.
"Remind me so much of the twins." She remarked and Lin snorted.
"Worse." Her older sister said and Suyin laughed.
"Lin, I'm going to the kitchen to get a drink, want something?" Kya asked.
"Hmm? Something strong." Kya looked at her doubtfully and Suyin glanced toward Tenzin, who seemed to pick up on the energy.
"Come with me." Kya said, pulling her arm.
"Alright, fine. I'll be right back Su." Lin said being dragged away by Kya. Su looked to Tenzinsho put Rohan in his uncle's lap.
"Did you-" they said in unison.
"Sorry, you go." Tenzin said.
"That was weird, right?" Su asked, looking at her sister and Kya from the table. The two were leaned against the counter, Kya pouring a waterbenders portion of wine, engaged in conversation.
"They arrived together." Tenzin said and Su pursed her lips.
"Do you think Kya's living with her?" Su asked.
"Its possible. She's been staying in the city for a while now, I assumed she had her own place or an ex's to crash, maybe she's been staying with Lin." The two woman came back, returning to their seat.
"Sorry," Lin laughed as she sat down. Su looked to Tenzin again.
Is she laughing?
I think so?
"So, Kya, where have you been staying?" Su asked, flattening her robe. Kya took a long sip of her wine, finishing nearly a third of it before answering.
"With Lin. She's um... been letting me stay with her. Just to be closer to the hospital and all."
"Thats very kind of you Lin," Tenzin said, "I didn't know you were so fond of the homeless." Kya flung a spoonful of mashed potatoes off her spoon at her brother who blew it against the wall.
"Ha. Ha." Tenzin smiled, proud of himself.
"Beifong!" Su and Lin looked at the use of their last name, to see Korra, Asami, Mako and Bolin standing at the door. Lin rolled her eyes and Kya patted her on the shoulder, smiling.
"Yes?" Lin asked, standing up and spreading her arms.
"You... you lied to me!" Korra argued. Su looked between the two of them. It didn't seem hostile but.. playful wasn't in Lin's nature. At least she didn't think so.
"Actually I just didn't tell you the truth. Besides, you didn't ask me."
"You told them before us?"
"No, I gave you guys the key to our apartment, and I even gave you the box. You just didn't look in it." Korra's eyes met Asami's a look of realization dawning on them.
"Why... why did you-"
"Wanted to know what you thought. And maybe rub it in a bit." Korra furrowed her brows and Lin smirked. Su looked back to Tenzin when Kya wrapped an arm around Lin's.
Oh my god. She mouthed as the bald airbenders face lit up a bright red.
"Were you in on this?" Asami asked.
"Oh yeah, this whole operation was my idea." Kya replied. "I just thought it'd be funnier coming from Lin. And as always, I was right."
"You're not always right-" Lin began, she was shut down with a look from the waterbender.
"Does someone care to explain whats going on here?" Bumi asked, bouncing Rohan. "I'm getting the sense I don't have all the details."
"Beifong and Kya are getting married!" Korra said and the unanimous gasp in the room was followed by silence.
"Suprise." Lin said, a grin on her face.
"Kya, whats the meaning of this?" Tenzin asked.
"Tenzin, its pretty straightforward..." his sister replied. Su was too busy looking at Lin, and then to Kya, who now at a second glance did have a new betrothal necklace. One that had Lin's impeccable bending skills all over it.
"Lin are you... oh my god!" Su cheered, jumping up to hug her sister. "You're getting married?" Lin stood stiff in her sisters grip, patting Su on the back until she was released.
"Yeah, I mean I thought that was obvious." Su ignored her passive aggression, smiling at Kya who winked at her older brother across the room.
"Kya you... how?" Kya laughed, placing a hand on Su's shoulder.
"It just happened. These last what, fourteen, fifteen years, have been the-"
"FIFTEEN YEARS?" everyone shouted and Lin plugged her ears.
"Ow. Spirits you don't have to be so loud."
"You've been together for fifteen years?" Pema asked, finally setting down the beverage tray.
"Yeah. Honestly, I don't know how no one picked up on it." Kya said, "except Bumi."
"How'd Bumi know?" Kai asked.
"Thats... not for young ears to hear." Kya replied, causing the two of them to blush. Su sat down, her head rushing with thoughts. Her sister had been seeing someone for fifteen years and she had no idea. Some sister she was. She wasn't sure how she felt about the secrecy, but she shoved whatever feelings those were aside and focused on how happy she was for her sister.
___________________________________________
Kya flopped onto the sofa next to her fiance, the effects of the wine fading and leaving her feeling tired.
"That was a lot." She said to Lin, who was already half asleep next to her.
"Agreed, way to much."
"But it feels good, doesn't it?" Lin opened her eyes, looking at the beautiful girl beside her.
"It feels amazing, Kya." Kya kissed her her lips tasted like wine, she didn't mind totally, but she preffered the authentic Lin.
"Lin, I can't wait to marry you." She whispered.
"I can't wait either."
"We should do it. Tomorrow?" Lin looked to her.
"What?"
"Lets go to city hall, and get someone to do it."
"You don't want a big wedding? What about your mom?" Kya sighed, leaning back.
"Mom will understand. Besides, after today I realized that I just want it to be the two of us. Like its always been." Lin leaned over, kissing her.
"Okay, but we're not getting married in city hall. I have a plan."
"How could you possibly have a plan?" Lin shrugged, flexing a hand out in front of her.
"I wanted to make sure we had our bases covered." Kys chuckled, kissing her again."
"Thats why I love you, Lin Beifong." She said before nuzzling herself into Lin's shoulder, the two of them falling asleep on the sofa.
Thought it was done? Hehehehehe
"The spirit world?" Kya asked, staring into the beam.
"Yup. Korra recommended it once she got back. I figured we'd honeymoon, but this is better." Kya smiled, and the two stepped into the beam. On the other side was a green field, flowers stretched across for miles, and in the middle, a cottage. Spirits gathered around a table, sipping tea.
"They're here!" The spirits called and Kya looked to Lin, whos face revealed nothing. The door of the cottage swung open and an old man, carrying a tea pot and a saucer smiled at them.
"You're early!" He said over the spirit chatter.
"I'm punctual." Lin replied as the two walked up to him.
"Iroh?" Kya asked, tears forming at the corner of her eyes.
"Its been a long time, Kya," he said, "the last time I saw you... you were this high." He put his hand next to his waist.
"Lin did you-"
"Korra mentioned he was here, during harmonic convergence. I had to see for myself."
"And she couldn't stop coming to see her uncle!" Iroh added, pouring two more cups.  Kya looked at her wife to be, who smiled in a way that made her look ethereal. Lin had a connection to this place, different then Jinora's or Tenzin's, but a connection. The one time Kya had been here, it had been whole fully unpleasant. She was starting to think her opinion of it was going to change.
"Well, are we going to stand here all day or is there going to be a wedding?" Iroh asked.
It didn't take them long to get ready, the spirits put a veil of light around them, decorating Kya's hair with flowers and giving Lin a panda lily to give once their vows were done.
"Su's going to loose her mind." Kya said aftwrward, when they sat on the grass.
"She got married without me." Lin argued.
"Fair enough." Kya laid in the grass and Lin joined her.
"I could stay here forever," the waterbender said.
"Me too," Lin replied, holding Kya's hand in hers.  "Me too."
Thanks for all the love on this miniseries everyone!!! I really enjoyed it! Anyway, this is the finale, however I will have a bonus short in an upcoming chapter on Watty with strictly Bumi's reaction. As always, thanks for reading!
