I was given explicit instructions to respond to this ask with a Message from the Great Beyond:
Church isn't gone dear anon. LadyC is inside all of us, with consent.
———————
To anyone who might have been concerned by our cheeky lady’s somewhat abrupt departure—fear not! I promise you she’s well; she just decided to turn a gradual weaning from Tumblr into a clean break. I’m sure some of you were startled, even disappointed by the disappearance of a blog you particularly enjoyed or may have been following for a long time. I am trying to interpret anon’s ask through a similarly generous lens.
Anon, I don’t think you intended to be rude—but I hope you can see how, upon reflection, your message (abrupt, without a greeting or context or emoji for tone, and made anonymously) could come off as a bit demanding. It’s important to remember always that: one, you are speaking to a person behind every blog, Twitter account, Twitch stream, or other social media platform you engage with; and two, that much as we feel connected to our favorite content creators, we are never entitled to anything from them beyond what they choose to share. This applies both to LadyC, whom many of us may miss, but who has a right to take care of herself and choose where and how to dedicate her energy, and to me, someone who is not exactly a booming creator but nevertheless may feel very accessible because of the atmosphere of my blog.
Now! As I’m done channeling spirits and stepping off my soapbox, I hope y’all have a genuinely lovely Monday (or whatever day it might be for you, given the great expanse of time zones). ♥️ I know the world is rough (understatement of the highest order, I know), but let’s go into this week with the intention of making the best we can of it, yeah? One foot in front of the other, everybody.
Watching re3 let's play over here, 'cause I can't game to save my life. (But, boy do I love some of the stories they tell) Do you have a favorite horror genre?
i love re lore. survival horror i guess? i like re and last of us, but not a fan of the evil within. i have alan wake but havent played much of it. none of the others look appealing. havent played amnesia but i want to play alien isolation. played it on VR at a con before it was released and it was fun as hell. oh and dead space is awesome too
Good morning! Is there anything you would change about some major movie franchises?
I only have two AMA questions to belatedly answer, and they’re both from my lovely lady! (Thank you so much for being so supportive and sending me so many [great!] questions. 💕)
The answer is UM, YES, ABSOLUTELY. I’m only picking on two movies from two franchises, because I could be here way longer than any of you are prepared for otherwise.
Without spoilers:
Avengers: Endgame: I would cut SO MANY DEATHS and change Steve’s ending because almost none of it sat well with me.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: They did my boy so dirty; literally nobody fight me on this. (That scene of him running in the henley, though? 👌🏻) Rey also deserved better from her storyline, and in general, I feel like a lot of development everyone experienced in TLJ was ignored.
Every major film franchise I’m invested in: more ladies, more POC, and more LGBTQ+ people, thank you very much.
With spoilers below the cut (so beware!!):
Avengers: Endgame:
Natasha should NOT have died. Not only was she the most prominent lady character, she had been there from the beginning, and she was the one trying to keep the team together when nobody else was. I genuinely like Hawkeye, for the most part, but having her die just so he could live, even though he was the one who’d spent the last year putting so much red in his ledger? Absolute bullshit. And then her death was barely a footnote, while Tony got a full, beautiful funeral.
I love Steve and Peggy. I love them so much. But Steve would not just leave his best friend(s). He would not leave Sam and particularly Bucky to fuck off for like 90 years, and no one can convince me otherwise.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker:
Ben Solo should not have died. Adam Driver’s acting was absolutely stunning; the change in his demeanor from Kylo Ren to Ben Solo was all the more impressive when you realize he has no lines for the last ten to twenty minutes of the film, at least, and is gone for a large part of the last act. And he deserved a better, more lasting shot at redemption. One he had to earn, yes, but the whole series was setting us up for it, and there was very little logical reason for him to have to die for Rey.
The return of the Rey’s parentage question? A bit dicey, a bit weak, and a bit reductive to all of her character development from the previous two films. I don’t mind her being Palp’s granddaughter nearly as much as I mind that it sent her into another full-blown crisis, but I actually really did like the idea of her being a “nobody” and still so very important.
I KNOW there’s more, but it requires a second watching before I can come up with anything coherent.
