the fucking arrogance and blatant nationalism in the way europeans declare polce brutality a "US problem" as if americans are the only people with a corrupt system
my leftist swedish mother actually agrees with ACAB with the addendum that it's only the Americans, we're not like that here
let the brutal forced used on greta thunberg, a swedish teenager protesting climate change, by dutch police be a testament to the lie of european "democracy" and how it is democracy in name and nothing else.
let the immigrant kids who are brutalized, humiliated and oppressed every day in sweden by cops who "protect and serve" serve as a reminder of how incredibly flawed we are.
let the 700% increase in death by cops in sweden in the last ten years show us how we are no better than the americans we condemn.
we are not better. you are buying into propaganda if you think this doesn't apply to your country too

there is an insane amount of antisemitism floating around right now.
i just want to say:
this blog loves and supports jewish people.
this blog does NOT conflate the israeli government, or the atrocities it commits, with jewish people.
this blog is disgusted with those who use or express antisemitism.
this blog knows that if someone needs to invoke antisemitism, they do not actually care about helping palestine or the palestinian people.
this blog will do its best to ensure that it remains a safe space for all.

The only appropriate way to spend St. Patrick’s Day is to continue to stand up against the occupation and oppression of all people around the world. 🇵🇸🇮🇪

The chart does not capture the astonishing fact that these accomplishments were achieved under brutal sanctions imposed by the world’s superpower. Viva la revolución.
They also have ad-free TV ✌️📺 (you don’t need commercials with Socialism).

Ok I think one thing we need to start asking ourselves before we start talking about politics is "is this pragmatic or dogmatic?" Pragmatic things are achievable goals that will bring about some sort of tangible change. Dogmatic is demanding people behave a certain way or they're a bad person who needs to be condemned, or doing some big thing that won't work because of your conscience or something like that.
Let's have some examples: a general strike: a general strike is an attempt to halt all economic activity by withholding labor, usually for some sort of goal. A pragmatic approach to a general strike would be having several different labor organizations coordinating all to go on strike at the same time in order to fulfill certain demands. A dogmatic approach to a general strike would be calling for a strike on social media a week before it happens with no backing from any labor orgs and demanding people use their limited sick days and PTO rather than walking out with the support of their coworkers and cyber bullying people who question the efficacy of a strike without organized labor.
A boycott: a pragmatic approach to a boycott is targeting one or a few companies that everyone can avoid purchasing from in order to achieve a specific goal. Boycotting the companies that BDS has called for is a good example of this because BDS has the reach to coordinate what could be a critical mass of people. A dogmatic approach to boycotting is demanding that people boycott any organization doing something bad. Spoiler alert there is no ethical consumption under capitalism but people still need to eat. If I hear you yelling at people about McDonald's and then see you with that Sabra Hummus it's on sight.
Protest: a pragmatic approach is organizing a large group of people or many small groups of people in the same city to march for a cause. A dogmatic approach is that one guy counter protesting pride who is there by himself every single year telling us all we'll burn in hell.
And so on and so forth. If you want to make a difference you need people and you're not gonna get people the way you're acting.

Another Reminder to Vote
I've said it once and I'll say it a million times more, the people of the US need to hyperfocus on voting the fascists and ultra-conservatives out of office this year. Yes, that means looking into state and local elections. Yes, that might even mean voting for a Dem you might deem "not good enough," if the alternative is full-on fascism.
Please, people, I'm a US citizen watching this from abroad, I don't want the idea of visiting my home country to fill me with as much dread and anxiety as it currently does.

what a fucked up world we're living in. there's so much to touch on but. a generation of trans and queer kids were growing up with the hope of a better world for them, they were growing up and things were looking up and now we're headed for fucking rock bottom again. trans kids are waking up every day to another suicide, another death because their whole fucking world is against them. when. when will we matter, when will our lives mean as much as yours. WE are your children, WE are bettering your world, WE are the future. trans and queer kids are the ones making a difference in this hellhole. we are not the problem, we are not a danger, we are just trying to survive in a world that hates us so fucking much for something we can't control. you kill your children en masse like this, you don't have the audacity to do it yourself. round us up in a fucking corral and kill us all off, that's more humane than forcing us into suffering and conformity. you don't have the fucking guts to kill children directly, how do you have the guts to do it like this. fucking tell me. fucking tell me we'll get to live, fucking tell me we'll get to smile, fucking tell me nobody else has to die. cause god I'll keep fighting, and so will every other trans person, but fuck we need hope.

Unethical Executions in April
Micheal Smith is being executed in Alabama despite having an intellectual disability that would disqualify him from the death penalty in any other state. The only reason he is still being executed is because of a few confusing technicalities in Oklahoma law.
Petitions Here:
Letter Writing Campaigns for oklahoma residents here:
Missouri is slated to execute Brian Dorsey despite his claims of ineffective counsel and the fact that he is picture of remorse and rehabilitation: he turned himself over to the police and pled guilty, has had a flawless prison record, currently resides in the honor ward while working as a prison barber (a highly coveted job only given to trust worthy inmates), and has about 60 prison staff members advocating for the commutation of his sentence.

used to be afraid to stand up for what i believe in bc i was like… what if people treat me weird, do not trust me, do not let me be involved in the intellectual pursuits i am interested in because of my politics,
but then i watched oppenheimer and learned how that man distanced himself from his politics for his career and so he could do something horrific and just… i don’t want to be that. i don’t want to let myself lose my conscience, my knowledge of what is right and wrong just because i really like physics and engineering.
it’s BAD to be a physicist, to be an engineer, to be whatever without being true to what you know is right and what is wrong, because that is exactly what leads to superweapons and cold wars and watching your creations be responsible for death. science and engineering is not meant to be used for death, it should be used to expand our knowledge of the world, to help people, to feed that natural curiosity of ours.
i never want to lose sight of that.

I’m about to say some shit that a lot of you are really not gonna want to hear.
If you call yourself a trans ally but constantly put men down, you are not a trans ally.
If you call yourself body positive but call men ugly or make fun of them for having small dicks, you are not body positive.
If you call yourself a mental health advocate but that advocacy doesn’t include people with personality disorders or psychotics, you are not a mental health advocate.
If you call yourself pro-choice but object to a woman partaking in sex work or surrogacy, you are not pro-choice.
If you call yourself kink positive but shame others for having non-harmful unorthodox fantasies you personally don’t like, you are not kink positive.
If you claim to accept bisexuals but feel disgust at their “opposite gender” attraction, you are partaking in biphobia.
If you claim to be against xenophobia but make fun of other people’s accents or dialects, you are partaking in xenophobia.
If you claim to be for class solidarity but make fun of working class people’s dialects, food, clothes or culture, you are partaking in classism.
If you claim to be against Islamophobia but find yourself associating Islam with terrorism, you are partaking in Islamophobia.
If you claim to be against antisemitism but find yourself regularly calling Jews Zionists, you are partaking in antisemitism.
I’m not saying any of this makes you A Xenophobe™️ or inherently bigoted. But these are just a few things many leftists still need to unlearn when it comes to seeking true acceptance and equality, and I see far too much of this behaviour on this website from people who claim to be ardently against it. Everyone has subconscious prejudices that need to be addressed and what matters is making the effort to improve on that behaviour once it’s been recognised. These are just examples that have stood out to me the most lately and there will be more because none of us are perfect and I have been guilty of these before as well. I just hope to see change and growth rather than indignation.

An (un)friendly reminder that being religious doesn't mean you deserve special privileges.
No, I'm not talking about being able to have breaks at work for praying or having certain kinds of foods available for you. What I'm talking about here is your ''right'' to discriminate against others and deem others morally inferior for trivial reasons because of your religious beliefs.
You are not justified when you tell lgbtq people they're morally wrong / perverted / going to hell / whatever because your religion says that about lgbtq.
Same thing goes for literally any other group of people: for example, telling people of color they should apologize for being black / brown every single day or else they are going to hell is not justified, even if your religion says so.
Well, in a way you're allowed to voice your opinions, no matter how discriminatory or hateful they are, but then you better not have the nerve to complain about the backlash you get in response. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequences.
