my little miss went to the vet today for her first ever check up, and, as you can tell from the photo, it was very traumatic and exhausting for her lol. thankfully, the doctor said she is very healthy and gave me some good husbandry tips for her. since she was so stressed by this experience though and seems like she never wants me to hold her again, what can i do to help her calm down? as a more general question, how can one best support their pet reptiles after a stressful experience?
Aw, poor baby! I'm glad your vet experience was overall positive, though.
After stressful events like this, the best thing you can do for your pet reptile is just leave them alone and give them lots of quiet time to decompress! She'll be back to her normal self before you know it. :)

Leopard Gecko enclosure by Linda Bongers
EDIT: Apparently this person was co-habbing her geckos. It is not advised to house leopard geckos together. They are territorial, they can fight, they compete for resources, it's stressful for them.
I want to leave this enclosure up because it's stunning, but be aware you should keep leopard geckos separate.

Me: What's the best way to mentally enrich my gecko?
Vet: Just put some paper towel tubes in there
Me: That's it? No way.
Gecko: *goes in and out of same paper towel roll tube like she's stuck in the friggin House of Leaves corridors*

I've seen claims that leopard geckos are the first domesticated lizard, I'm pretty skeptical of that though. What are your thoughts on it?
Depends on if you're using the popular or actual definition of domestication.
A lot of people think "domestication" is a lot more simple than it actually is, more along the lines of "tame." If you're going by leopard geckos being easily tamed, easily bred in captivity, and being good pets in general, then sure.
If you're going by the actual definition, though - domestication is a process that takes thousands of years, and requires an animal to evolve alongside humans in ways that substantially change them - then no, not even close. Leopard geckos are still fundamentally wild animals.
