⭒ Up first is decafcoffee00 - decaf's art is so next level, everything is so SHAPE and there's personality in every line istg. Surprisingly, this one didn't fight me as much as I expected! I don't think it's half bad, and I had an easier time w/ this one than any other lol, but fr if you're not following him uhhh you should <3

⭒ The next to the right, minksinty - phenom's art inspires me SO so much, the way they colour things is absolutely stunning and life just flows through it, even the doodles! I think this one is probably the one I did the worst on lol, idk! It just doesn't seem to have any of the right energy, but it'd be more than worth it to do a more thorough study bc uhhh absolutely gorgeous art fr

⭒ And the third in the top row, bonetrousledbones - the only one I've actually tried before! So I had a liiitttle more familiarity with it, but it's such a fun, super expressive style. Their art just seems to translate the characters feelings and personalities so strongly, it's like. A narrative art style. If I had more time and focus I'd have loved to do a full body shot like this, especially to get more into studying their Clothes Technique, of which they are a master in their craft !!

⭒ Now on to the bottom row✨ jnpie - this one is small bc I was so happy w/ the first sketch I didn't want to try making it bigger and having it get all fuzzy lmao, but! Jnpie's style is so cute and like. Idk what would be a good word for it, sincere? It really is an expression, and you can feel how much they put into their art just by making it, it's just so -gestures emphatically in a positive way-. This is also the only one that didn't have a direct ref to look at! So pls forgive any discrepancies 🙏

⭒ On to the right, savestar - her art always exudes such a softness to me? Almost like a somberness that I don't quite know how to describe but its sooo pretty and makes their stuff feel very nostalgic when you look at it. It probably comes in second for the ones I struggled w/ a bit and feel I couldn't quite capture, but you can make the judgement for yourself by checking out and following her :*)

⭒ And last but certainly not least, owl-bones - this one was very fun, I'm not sure how obvious it is but his art has definitely been an influence on whatever direction mines taken for how I draw these bone boys, as it should! Rayne's art is sooo cool and pretty and this is another style I'd love to try doing a full body shot w/, the way he poses and draws clothes is so fluid and appealing and !!!

omg welcome to shawolism! i'd be so happy to do a rundown on superm for you i have unfortunately been around for the entirety of this nonsense.

in mid 2019, sm announced that they'd debuting superm, what they marketed as "the avengers of kpop". the lineup was taemin, exo's kai and baekhyun, and nct's mark, taeyong, ten, and lucas. the main intent of the group was to break into the american market, because for all of sm's genius in the east asian market sm has mostly failed at marketing to a broad western audience. when the group was first announced, literally no one was happy about it. taemin had already released two mini albums with full promotions that year, and mark and taeyong are famously overworked. on the other end of the spectrum, exo had been ignored by the company so their fans were upset kai and baekhyun were being put in a new group instead of having a comeback with exo. nevertheless, superm debuted with their song jopping that october, which has become infamous because of how ridiculous the lyrics are. (when it was released everyone hated it because like. seriously? this is what the exo comeback has been pushed back for? but with the benefit of hindsight we all now know it was camp. stream jopping.)

superm only really promoted heavily from 2019-2020, mostly due to the pandemic and then baekhyun and taemin enlisting at the beginning of 2021. but in early 2022, information about nct's lucas's dating history came to light. the controversy is long and extensive, but in essence many women came forward (with truly just So Much proof) that he was manipulative and sexually inappropriate with past girlfriends, many of which he was dating at the same time and some of whom were nct fans. although sm hasn't made a statement about lucas since then, he hasn't promoted with nct at all in the past year and was left out of the the subunit wayv's (which he had been a fixed member of) recent comeback and promotions.

because of all that, plus the fact that taemin and baekhyun aren't even back from the military yet, everyone just assumed superm wouldn't have a comeback for a good long while, if at all. however sm loves to indulge in fuckery, and at the end of the company's end of year concert last week they teased that superm would be coming back in 2023. literally no one is happy about this. it seems like taemin and baekhyun will be releasing music with superm after they return from the military before they do with shinee or exo, which is deeply annoying, and the nct guys are still being seriously overworked (mark especially, that kid needs a vacation so bad).

the lineup change is all speculation for now, though i am sooo sure that lucas is Not going to be a part of the comeback, if there's one thing sm is going to do it's kick people out. in the teaser for superm, the video had the official colours of shinee/exo/nct come together to create the superm logo, with the addition of the colour red, which is the group tvxq's official colour. it's very likely a tvxq member will be joining superm, probably u-know because there were already rumours before the teaser that he'd be joining the group. all in all i think him joining will be nothing but a win because lucas was objectively not a good performer (he's called "dozen" on twitter because he dozen rap he dozen sing he dozen dance he dozen do anything lmao).

so yeah. that's superm. their music is pretty hit or miss, but i'd recommend their songs i can't stand the rain and tiger inside, those ones are bops. as a shawol and exo-l it's mostly just a general annoyance, but taemin does slay in every superm performance so at least there's a silver lining. hope this helped!

So, thanks to dracula daily, I watched Bram Stoker's Dracula (the title is a fucking lie). Spoiler warning for that, and also, well, for my rambling.

I just really need to talk about it, this is no analysis or rating or anything, really just me talking.

The beginning is promising. I really liked the colours and all, even if Drac was hard to understand. But that part was pretty neat.

The story begin was surprisingly accurate. Like, they even read parts from Johnathan's journal! Not sure if it's directly from the book, but that was a nice detail. A couple scenes in the castle were confusing and, uh, weird, but mostly it was accurate! We even got Dracula's lizard fashion!

And the brides- now I get what that one post said about vampire titties. Oh my goodness why are they half naked. I know vampires are like all sex and the stigma around it and shit but why so much.

Then there was Mina and Lucy and....... I know the whole "sex bad! the protags are good bc they are so pure!" kinda sucks but. idk. she just doesn't feel like Lucy, At All. BUT Jack's entrance was neat.

I also liked that they gave Renfield a backstory as the first guy to go to Dracula.

The Demeter had so much missed horror potential... well, you can't have everything.

Okay but WHAT THE FUCK was up with that werewolf dracula thing?? Seriously what the Fuck dude. What The Fuck. Also... the whole fucking thing. Like, literally. Why did our bitten girls try to get out their boobs. Why. Like, c'mon, yeah vampires sexy we got it, but the Number 1 Symptom being "Boobs Out" is, uh. yeah.

The final scene at the castle with dracula is......... I am. Not A Fan. I mean, she got to kill him, which is neat, but she did it bc she loved him, which sucks. Also Quincey my boy........ aurgh.

Soo.... in general?

Was it a good film in itself? Yeah, I guess so. Too much boobs and sexy stuff for my taste, but it was a good film. Well made, no unnecessary blockbuster shit, the setup and all was really neat.

Was it a good Dracula adaptation? Hell nah. Inspired by the book? Okay. Based on the book? Questionable. "Bram Stoker's Dracula"? Honey you couldn't get further from Stoker. The heart of the book are the characters. It's Johnmina's love, it's the polycule, it's everyone hating Drac So Much for what he did to Lucy and Mina... and that just isn't in the film. I have literally no opinion on the characters except Lucy because I just cannot see LUCY in her, and Mina because what is going on with you girl, and that's just sad. Dracula wasn't really likeable, but you didn't hate him, either, which in itself says that you kinda missed the point of the book.

Also the type of horror was entirely different. Like, in here? Dracula was A Guy. A scary, powerful, undead, monster guy, but still a tangible person.

In the book, it's this unknown thing in the background. You don't know what he does, why, where he is, what he thinks. You think you meet him in the beginning, but then he's gone. He's the unknown horror, you think you're safe and suddenly he's There, only to disappear again and you know you can never be safe until he's truly dead, but how? How can you kill this monster that doesn't seem to be like any human At All?

It was a good film. It just wasn't a good dracula adaptation. I kinda liked watching it, but I didn't need to watch it either, and I definitely won't again. I'd rather reread the book.

Sweet/savoury/spicy: I don't eat much sweet stuff but it is my favourite. Baking is sooo fun and I love fruits a lot so 🍒

- I actually really love the tie-ins with G4. The mystery and the wanting to know exactly what happened is really keeping me hooked, and I appreciate that we have a character actively investigating it

- speaking of Zipp, I am getting major trans vibes. I doubt Hasbro will let them go there, but I want a whole part of Zipp's "figuring herself out" to be figuring out her gender

- that could tie in to why she's so uncomfortable with being in the spotlight if she's uncomfortable with how she looks and sounds

- I love Zipp and Pip's dynamic, although I do wish that Pipp had apologised more in their episode. Pipp is always on her phone and does kind of make everything about her, and as much I love her she needs to go touch grass. The show has made some jokes about her need for validation through clicks though, so hopefully we'll touch more on that later?

- Misty is amazing and I am on Misty redemption arc train

- oh, the dragon is there too I guess, he's kind of annoying but can be a useful tool to explore Hitch's relationship to family. I definitely think that Hitch is an orphan now, with the whole "the town is my family," and "I just want to be a good dragon-pony-dad." I'm getting major "I just want to be there for him like my paremts weren't for me," vibes, but they just couldn't put that in a kid's show

- 3D Twilight was a nice suprise, and looked better than I was expecting

- Opaline's design is just,,, why. It's so bad. People have said this before, but damn, it just doesn't work?? Like, what is that hairstyle? Wouldn't it block her hearing and be super uncomfortable? And the coat vs the mane colour? It doesn't go, at all???

putting my personal bias for him aside for now to talk about what a GREAT character he is!!!!! SOOO 2.8 kazuha backstory huh. i love love love the character development he got when his family went into decline, when he decided to become a wandering samurai, when he decided to end the kaedehara bloodline and be free. and he doesn't stop developing there!!!!! during the inazuma archon quest, kazuha was really the only one who managed to change for the better - he learnt to overcome his grief over his friend and even avenged him, not by killing the shogun, but by doing what his friend couldn't do WITH the help of his friend!!! i think his character was written the most beautifully in the inazuma arc. no one else comes close, not kokomi, not sara, not ayaka, and definitely not fucking ei lmao.

i'm aware that many (if not all) the kazuha fics out there label him as a dreamy, charming guy who prioritises you above everything else, is super romantic, knows exactly how to calm you down, is perfect boyfriend material etc and,, yeah, to some extent, yes. he is pretty charming canonically and he uses it to his advantage. but if we're speaking about an actual relationship (btw @souglias and i had a long ass convo about this everyone say thank you sher for the big brain ideas <3) honestly, i don't think kazuha is someone who would commit long term to a romantic relationship lol. he's canonically a wandering samurai and most likely has no time to settle down, and definitely prefers travelling to new and different places than being domesticated with someone. not saying i don't like the kazuha fics, i adore them and the writers who manage to make him so dreamy in the fics <3 it's just how i characterise kazuha LOL

oh clotted, the star of the entire creme republic arc!! you guys already know how insane i am over him <3333333 i love how his character was presented in the story, as a snobbish stinky politician at first to a man who's been abused by his father but still stands up against him :") and i love how he tries his hardest, despite the constantly switching opinions of the creme republic and the two faced hatred from the elders, to keep the republic safe and make everyone happy god i wish he would just take a rest and hug me ;(( not complaining about his screentime since he's already the protagonist of the creme republic arc <3

admittedly i was wrong about oyster in the past 😔 i initially thought she was gonna be a super sus elder who would be painted as an antagonist but!!!!! i love that she ended up just being a morally grey character (as grey as her colour scheme) who is willing to help people but makes sure she gets something out of it too. the girlboss of the century the milf ever the lady !!!! <3 man i should really think about her more. too bad she was only mostly relevant for a couple of scenes, i really wanted to learn about her backstory and see her be more badass :((
