i read the story of your life two days ago and it is still bouncing around in my brain.. the way ted chiang played with tenses and parallels fucking brilliant.

it's lead to me thinking about the suspension of time in of sports fanfic writing-wise? like authors that do deep dives into past seasons, especially those that dont write "fix-its".. these are events that have already happened and the future is already determined because we're living it now. but in the story, the characters of real people don't know that, they're just acting it out. and they'll act it out again and again and again as long as they live in the general consciousness of fic writers. and idk i just think it's cool

things twitter migrants may find useful that dont often get included in "how to tumblr" posts

1- queueing!

instead of feeling bad for spam-reblogging and clogging up other people's feeds, you can click the dropdown and add it to your queue instead!

you can edit how many times a day your queue posts, and between what hours. You can easily re-order or completely shuffle your queue as well!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REBLOG STUFF. Tumblr doesn't run on an algorithm!! YOU are responsible for putting cool stuff onto your followers feeds!

2- personal tags

You can have different tags you use on your blog to help people navigate! for example, i use "dh rb art" when I reblog art and "dh rb" for most other reblogs- that's so that people can filter my reblogs out of their feeds if they dont wanna see that, and only want my original posts to show up.

On the other hand, my art is tagged "dh2497" so they can easily search my account for it!

If you open a person's blog and click the search button, a list of Featured Tags will show up. By default this is just the blogger's most used tags, but you can customize what shows up on yours in your blog settings

You can follow entire hashtags too! if you wanna see hermitcraft fanart without following every hermitcraft artist, follow the tag :D

3- Filtering

Tumblr actually hides things you don't wanna see, very nicely!

In your account settings, you can filter specific tags, and even specific words that show up in the post.

sometimes different bloggers warning tag differently (i do [trigger] tw or [content] cw) so you can try to input every variant, but if its something you really want to avoid just put it in the post content as well. Blocklists aren't really a tumblr thing, so if you wanna avoid an entire community you can block their tag as well

NEVER. CENSOR. YOUR WARNINGS. PLEASE. On twitter or tiktok or wherever, you may have to do that or else the algorithm suppresses it- THERES NO ALGORITHM HERE!!! if someone reblogs your post, it will show up for others, don't worry!!! you're just bypassing filters placed for people's safety, if you censor words.

Also! don't worry too much if a word you wanna filter is commonly used in unrelated contexts- tumblr doesn't remove it entirely, but rather adds a 'spoiler' so that you have to click on it to view it. So just in case it is what you want to avoid, you have time to prepare to see it.

4- effective tagging

[read more in detail here] Only the first 5 tags will show up for people who follow the hashtag. That makes them the most important! Then, the first 20 tags will make the post show up when searching that tag. The rest of them do not give your post any visibility.

I see a lot of people reblogging art with fanart tags- that can be useful for searching back the tag in the reblogger's blog specifically, but doesn't actually give the OP more visibility in that tag.

You'll learn what tags to use by checking the content you come across! most communities are "[word]blr", and most fanart goes "#[character/show] fanart". tumblr tags can have spaces!

Lastly, a few notes

you will only have 1 PRIMARY blog. this will appear when you like a post, comment on a post, or follow a blog. your sideblogs will not link back to your primary blog, but you cannot do those interactions as those sideblogs.

artists love receiving compliments when you reblog!! commenting does NOT boost the post. most people put their compliments in the TAGS of their reblog, so that it doesn't become a long post/thread, and if people reblog the reblog of your reblog you won't keep gettings notifications about it. The artist will still see and very much appreciate it

read up on tumblr etiquette, do not treat this place like twitter or you'll be disliked lol. there are some 'big blogs' but follower counts aren't public, popularity isn't a contest here. make friends, or just block/ignore people you don't get along with. no one cares about your petty arguments

if you noticed the lil cat in my screenshots, that's from a very useful browser extension called XKit!! it enables 1-click queue reblogs (automatically adding your tags), mass-post editing, and lots of other great tweaks vanilla tumblr doesn't have! and the cat is a silly cute thing you can enable in it as well

xavier was still waiting for you and he was starting to get impatient and think he was getting pranked, he has texted you nonstop and sent you calls but it kept going to voicemail, eventually.. he gave up and tried to go back to nevemore but he saw your unconscious body and you were bleeding.

it has been 3 weeks and you still haven’t woken up, xavier was so stressed, his lips are so dry, he looked like he hasn’t eaten in about a week, and he has very dark eye bags, it was the weekend and he decided to go visit you.

he opened the door and saw that you still haven’t woken up, he sighed and put one of his letters on the table.

“i miss you” he muttered while grabbing your cold hands

“it’s all my fault” the blonde boy sighs

you opened your eyes slowly and saw him tearing up a bit, “xavi..?” you say

I thought it was obvious by who I interacted with on a daily basis as to what my thoughts are 😂 I don’t talk about it because anytime you do it’s round and round in circles, and nothing new. That stupid little lather, rinse repeat playbook is getting old quickly 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have my own issues with things that have been presented, and while it seems dramatic, there have been things that triggered me because of MY personal experiences.

I know nothing about what’s going on, just like everyone else. What I know has nothing to do with a certain person or her friends. What I know only has to do with why I am here, Chris. I don’t share what I know often because I don’t have anything tangible as proof, so why? Why rile people up? I’m here sitting and waiting like everyone else. And I did give a bit of a heads up before the campaign. Take that for what it is.

in my pinned post, i have a hashtag that brings you to tons of void success stories. and she's trying to say every single one of them are lying??? she goes on this whole rant about how she thinks the void does not even exist, and then she goes on to say she wants to go to the void and she thinks that she can get in? LOL

the void state literally came from neville goddard himself. she mentions he has a method called the "i am state" method but it's different from the void. not the fuck it's not. the void state was brought to tumblr's attention by a user who read neville goddard and read what he said about the i am state and made a post about it where she coined the term "the void." it's the same exact thing. it's literally neville goddard's own teaching with a different name to it. that's it.

the void got it's name because when you are pure consciousness, you see total blackness and it looks like a void. you're not actually teleporting to a void lmfao. when you enter the void state, you are pure consciousness and that's why you are able to manifest instantly. because you are accessing your subconscious mind directly.

and she says only people on tumblr talk about it. that's simply not fucking true? there's tons of void subliminals on youtube with success stories underneath them. theres success stories on reddit. theres success stories on instagram. theres success stories on tiktok. the shifting community on tiktok mentions the void state all the time bc they use it to shift. like do ur fucking research before shooting off ur mouth jesus christ.

1. biology and conservation! i dont talk about it often here but i am a bio major and i have an interest in evolutionary biology, botany, and ecology & habitat conservation. ive always loved biology and a large part of my homeschool "education" was me reading biology textbooks and papers at the library.

2. video games:)) my all time favorite game is spyro the dragon ofc. then pokemon black. and i love ds2 my fave fave fave always. im super into no more heroes right now very excited to finish the first game and get on to the second

3. fish!!! fishkeeping is so awesome awesome. i love trying to maintain a little ecosystem in my room its super fun. i love my fish and shrimp theyre so sweetie cutie

4. horror & gore. i love horror movies horror art horror books very cool and awesome. the ickier and more gore there is the better. my favorite horror author is clive barker i love his work so so much. hashtag is you have horror recs send them to mee

5. yuri...... <3 working through reading the otherside picnic novels and ive read a few different yuri manga so far. im on the hunt for more yuri to read but i gotta finish otherside picnic and city hunter lol

I am clean, for the first time in years I dont have a cut or burn on me that is open or bandaged, its crazy, whenever I have a shower there is still that inital wave of anxiety that I mightve gotten water in my cuts, its kinda funny, I have no one in real life to share this with so I thought I might as well put it on a fukkin tumblr account no one reads lol. I have one small scab thats almost gone then I wont habe any cuts or scabs whatsoever, I hope this can last, I really do hope.
