Currently thinking about how Taylor had no references to alcohol or substances in her first four albums, then had 1 in 1989 (Clean) and then Reputation and onwards, after meeting Joe, it's all over her lyrics.
I'm not saying it means anything. I just think it's interesting, especially considering she has then said she quit drinking for 6 months before The Eras Tour started and the official breakup was quickly after.
Reference count:
Lover: 5
Folklore: 4
Evermore: 7
Midnights: 5
And these are only direct mentions of alcohol, not vague ones like "drink in my hand" etc. I started listening for it and Lover especially has drinking references in a lot of love songs; Cornelia Street, London Boy, Paper Rings, Death by a Thousand Cuts, Cruel Summer, False God and then more poetic ones (that could totally have a different meaning too) in I Think He Knows (cold glass), Afterglow (love drunk), Daylight (drink the poison from the same vine).
Idk just something I noticed when I started listening to all the albums back to back. I realized that alcohol mentions were suddenly all over Rep and then it just kept going with Lover so I looked it up. It might mean nothing at all but I absolutely find it interesting considering how her lyrics always have a thousand meanings.
And now I'm def gonna be listening for it in ttpd just for my own curious purposes.

Estava mais frio do que parece
Eu, nu, tentava me aquecer com pensamentos amargos em você
Dos quais eu mesmo me envergonharia.

How's one to know?
I'd meet you where the spirit meets the bones
In a faith-forgotten land
In from the snow
Your touch brought forth an incandescent glow
Tarnished but so grand
And the old widow goes to the stone every day
But I don't, I just sit here and wait
Grieving for the living
Oh, goddamn
My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand
Taking mine, but it's been promised to another
Oh, I can't
Stop you putting roots in my dreamland
My house of stone, your ivy grows
And now I'm covered in you
I wish to know
The fatal flaw that makes you long to be
Magnificently cursed
He's in the room
Your opal eyes are all I wish to see
He wants what's only yours..
