Madeleines are the cookie for today. I can really respect a cookie with a fun shape, so I like at least the idea of these shell-shaped french cookies, but the flavor is more important, so we'll see. It's also a bit funny to me that the name for these is just like a normal name for a person. I went with Walmart bakery's madeleines for these.
These are very soft and cakey. Considering these are basically mini sponge cakes, it would be concerning if they weren't. The flavor is pleasantly sweet with a bit of nuttiness and something else that eludes my ability to describe. I quite enjoy these.
