I am the secret held within the bud
The quenching of pure waters
I am the consuming of the flame
The deer of the untrod forest
I am birdsong of the coming dawn
& the dance of all creation
But who are you who made me open
Who made me thirst
Who set me ablaze
& who enraptured me
In this dance of love?
You are the secret
That causes words to prostrate
Hearts to open and lips to close

Moses Remove Your Sandals
The story of the prophet Musa (Moses), is full of rich symbolism, allegory and metaphor, which if understood can guide us to the Divine Presence.
Tumblr media
When we see very specific details mentioned in a story, especially if they seemingly hold little significance to the overall narrative, we should pay attention, meditate upon it, and seek understanding from God.
One such instance of specific and seemingly irrelevant detail, is God’s request for Musa to remove his sandals before entering the sacred valley of Tuwa.
“Indeed, I am your Lord, so remove your sandals. Indeed, you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa.” [Qur’an 20:12]
By entering the valley of Tuwa, which means folded or concealed, Musa will enter into the presence of God.
So why “remove your sandals?” The meaning is two fold: By telling Musa to remove his sandals God is telling us that the destination cannot be attained by outward travel. Rather, it is a journey to the inner “concealed place” – the heart. The second part of the meaning is that we must remove that part of ourselves which allows us to function in the world, as without shoes or sandals one cannot get very far.
The part of ourselves that allows us to function in the world is the intellect. However, when we turn inward, as we search for God within our hearts, the intellect only impedes us.
We must instead turn to meditation, and still the mind. Then, there in the silence God awaits us saying:
“I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed.” [Qur’an 20:13]
There is no specific guided meditation, no intricate ritual. Just silence the mind, and focus on the light of the heart, resting in the bliss of silence. Empty the mind, but if thoughts arise and take your attention, do not fight or struggle with them. All that is needed, is that you return your mind to that light in your heart. Rest, and surrender in a state of natural peace. Soon you will find that the light of Gnosis will arise like the sun at dawn – effortlessly.
“Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” [Qur’an 97:5]

And have lost all hope
Of coming to my senses
For I have surrendered completely

The Return Of Love And The Rebirth Of Civilisation : Love All and Hate None
“I am the outpouring pitcher of love, fill your cup from the eternal wellspring of my heart.” Lewis Abdullah Cattell
In the current age there has been little talk about love without an undertone of sexuality, promiscuity, lust and desire. The concept of love is almost exclusively linked to the sexual act. An example of this is the idea of “free love” which has come to mean nothing more…
