the result of the last weeks' work
the first yennefer triss and philippa's outfits are redraws of my old college projects, they were more based on historical costume, so maybe they looks a bit weird. the third ciri's outfit was also for college, but i still like it. the rest are more or less interpretations of costumes from games

Who do the writers think they're fooling, they expect us to believe that Tissaia's and Yennefer's relationship was a 'mother and daughter' one. What with Vilgefortz saying stuff like "oh me and her have some much in common like our rage and tempestuous and our need to win an argument and also our love for you". So they're saying that Tissaia fell for and got into bed with a man who has the same personality as her 'daughter'. Really? They expect us to believe that. If they wanted the two of them to pass off a mother and daughter relationship they shouldn't have thrown in that line. Let's all be honest Tissaia got with him because it was the closest thing she'd get to having Yennefer as a lover.
Your not fooling anyone Netflix!!!

Musings on Tissaia & Francesca at Thanedd
Tumblr media
Just finished S3 and can I just say, these two badasses were the standouts of the Thanedd Coup for me.
The unspoken equality between them as Tissaia stands on one side with all the mages behind her and Francesca, the elven queen directly across from her with the Nilfgaardians and the elves.
The way they look at no one else but each other before it all goes to hell, each woman knowing that the other one is the largest danger and threat there - Tissaia representing the human mages of the new order and Francesca representing the ancient order of the times when elven mages built Aretuza.
Finally, the epic moment when Tissaia prepares a deadly spell to kill Francesca (when Tissaia was the very same woman insisting Francesca was not their enemy in S2 while Stregobor and the Brotherhood were losing their shit over the elven exodus to Cintra).
And then the moment it all climaxes in a tragic trade of sorts - Tissaia destroys what Francesca loves most (Filavandrel) in front of her very eyes, so Francesca destroys and burns down what Tissaia loves most (Aretuza). All the other sorceresses - Rita, Sabrina, Keira, Triss, Fringilla, Marti, even Yennefer - are secondary to these two ladies in that moment - truly hell hath no fury like a sorceress scorned for these two proved it then and there.
And then, once Aretuza is in flames thanks to Francesca, how Tissaia falls into a numb state of sorts - she climbs the tower to resort to the most dangerous and life-draining spell known to mankind to destroy the elven invaders she once defended. This spell destroys everyone and everything - all the northern mages flee out of the way - only Francesca (and Fringilla) stays to fend off the lightning. Finally, when Tissaia can no longer keep up, the moment is perfect when all the northern sorceresses step in front of Francesca, making it clear she will not get to Tissaia so long as they live.
Ultimately, all the sorcerers were good - Rita who stayed there from start to end and defended Tissaia - Marti and Sabrina who destroyed people left and right and Bianca, Tissaia’s poor friend. But Tissaia and Francesca’s magic was by far the most epic of the entire battle. The absolute sheer destruction was amazing to watch. And the way they clearly targetted each other throughout the battle was perfect.
You know what the saddest thing is in the end? - in the books, few people were as close to Tissaia as Francesca was - here, they are mortal enemies instantly.
Side-note: I love how Philippa starts up shit and then escapes the moment it all goes to hell lmao

This is how you ruin another character upon their introduction.
‘Why aren’t you in school, student?’ she asked coldly, glaring at Ciri.
‘Wait, Tissaia,’ said the other woman, younger, tall and blond, in a green dress with a considerable neckline. ‘I don’t recognize her. I don’t think she’s…’
‘She is.’ Cut the dark-haired one. ‘I’m certain that she’s one of your girls, Rita. You can’t possibly know them all. She must be one of those who sneaked out through Loxia during the chaos when the students changed quarters. And now we shall wait for her explanation. Well, student?’
...
The woman raised her hand and Ciri immediately understood the seriousness of her mistake. Yennefer had demonstrated to her paralysing spells only once, tired with her long whining. The feeling had been considerably unpleasant. It was the same now.
Fabio cried terrified and leaped towards her but the other woman, the blond one, caught him by the collar and forced him to stay in place. The boy jerked his arm but the woman had an iron grip. Ciri couldn’t move. The dark-haired one bent down and glared at her.
‘I am not in favour of corporal punishment,’ she drawled her words coldly, evening her cuffs yet again, ‘But I will ensure that you’re whipped, student. Not for misbehaviour, not for the theft or elopement. Not even for wearing illicit clothes, walking out with a boy and telling him about things you were forbidden from discussing. No, you will be whipped for being unable to recognize an Archmistress.’
Rita starts with stating she doesn’t recognize Ciri, meaning she's probably familiar enough with her students to be able to. It’s Tissaia, who grabs the girl, and Tissaia, who threatens her. She also paralyzes Ciri, when she believes her to be insolent. Rita catches Fabio- still with Ciri- and lets him speak once he starts to explain.
Compare to:
“Mistress Laux-Antille”: *catches running Ciri* “Another runaway. You've had your fun, novice. Back to the dorms.”
Ciri: “Get your hands off me!”
“Mistress Laux-Antille”:  *hard slap* “You will address me as Mistress Laux-Antille. And you'll clean the toilets for your impertinence.”
...
Mistress Laux-Antille”, between drunken laughter: “Here, girl! Novices these days are useless. Not like when we were girls. I told you to bring the wine. ... I wanted red! ... Damned Cintran princess. What's so special about her, anyway? ... Girl, the wine! Now.”
In books, it’s Ciri’s pride injured. Her main issue’s the sorceresses dealt with Yennefer- as her guardian- instead of treating her like an independent person. She wasn’t abused by some cruel, sadistic bitch only because she’s younger and “only a student”. Rita’s even kind to her!
‘Hey, girl,’ she nodded at Ciri, ‘be so good and pass me a towel. Come on, stop pouting.’
Ciri hissed quietly, still offended. When Fabio let out who Ciri was, the sorceresses dragged her through half of the city, exposing her to public mockery. In Giancardi's bank the whole incident was immediately explained. The Sorceresses apologized to Yennefer, explaining their behaviour. ... Alarmed by the activation of Ciri’s amulet, Margarita Laux-Antille and Tissaia de Vries mistook her for one [of the sudents].
The sorcerers’ apologized to Yennefer, but none of them thought of apologizing to Ciri. ...
Ciri gave the towel to the Sorceress. Margarita patted her gently on the cheek. Ciri snorted and jumped and splashed into the pool of scented rosemary water.
‘Floats like a little leaf’, smiled Margarita as she lay down next to Yennefer on a wooden couch. ‘And she is as well formed as a nymph. You’re giving her to me, Yenna?’
Margarita Laux-Antille is one of those teachers, whose job is truly their life’s mission. She knows her students, she cares about them, she risks her life for them. Even as a member of the Lodge, her focus is education, not power. She doesn’t beat random girls on the street, because they possess magical amulet.
Fuck you Netflix, for ruining another one of my favourite minor characters! On such a deep, fundamental. level!
‘Ciri, serve us. Damn this carafe is almost empty. Come on, be good and bring us another.’
‘Bring two,’ smiled Margarita ‘As a reward you will get a sip and sit down with us, you will no longer have to strain your ears from a distance. Your education starts here, now, from me before you reach Arethusa.’

Prompt: Practical Magic Yennaia AU. Tissaia and Rita are sisters with magic and a family curse where any man who fell in love with a woman in their family is doomed to die. Not wanting to die of a broken heart like their mother did, Tissaia creates a love spell as a little girl for her to fall in love with a raven haired violet eyed woman who didn’t exist.
Years later as adults, Tissaia and Rita accidentally kill Vilgefortz and the man comes back as undead after casting a necromancy spell, bringing raven haired and violet eyed detective Yennefer Vengerberg to their doorstep.

Messing around in my S4 fantasy save with the lodge sorceresses (from the Netflix show as you can probably tell). They decided for a photoshoot in front of Tol Lara lol (or what that thing in the seas behind them is supposed to be anyways). I wanted Rita and Yen next to each other cause they're bffs in my headcanon and Triss behind Philippa for all the lesbian reasons. Some of them are supposed to be wearing dresses from the show (or as close to it as I can get with S4 stuff). And since I couldn't decide on what to have them in, I just did the same photos over and over in different dresses.

Also wanted to do the council of the Brotherhood. Along with the lodge girls, there's Tissaia, Vilgefortz, Bianca d'Este, Artaud Terranova, Stregobor, Istredd and Radcliffe... and obvs Tissaia cause it doesn't work without her.

||The Witcher tarot | Knight of Pentacles | Margarita Laux-Antille||
[Other cards of the Witcher tarot can be found here and on my Instagram art account]
[DO NOT REPOST OR REUSE WITHOUT LEGAL AND EXPLICIT AUTHORIZATION]
We don’t see much of Margarita in the games, and I decided to use that to design her more loosely based on the canon than some other characters like Yen or Philippa. So I kept the blonde hair, and then rejoined the Netflix adaptation for the skin color, purely for artistic purposes. I sadly don’t draw as many characters of colors that I would want, so this was the opportunity to do so. I gave her an outfit inspired by Indian fashion, also worn by Nenneke’s actress in season 2. I really wanted to give Margarita this maternal, protective and kind vibe of the Aretuza headmistress who wants to protect her students from a potential new Sodden Hill battle.
