Name: Stars
Debut: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
That’s right! It’s Stars! I think that “Stars” is the singular form, which I guess makes a group of stars “Starses?” That, or it’s like “Moose” where it’s a Stars, and also a group of Stars. Unfortunately, this enemy’s name has yet to be localized, so it’s a bit difficult to pluralize its name.

Regardless, that artwork is unfortunately inaccurate at representing what a Stars looks like! As you can see in this screenshot, Stars are in fact frowning when encountered in-game, while the artwork shows them smiling! This is because the artwork for Stars is simply re-used artwork for the Super Star. I suppose that “Star with a face” is simplistic enough that you can get away with that, but I’d like to see at least a little more of an effort here.

This took me less than five minutes, for crying out loud! It might not look very good, but that’s okay, because I love Stars anyway. They populate the sky of the Star Maze level in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, where they appear in large groups, and you have to avoid them using the level’s unique gravity mechanics! Simply hold the “jump” button and let Mario float up into the air, then let go and he’ll float back down! That’s right! Mario went to space long before Super Mario Galaxy! But if you’ve been following us for a while, you probably already knew that.
Since these guys only appear in large groups, I think that a “Constellation of Stars” is the proper way to refer to them. Er... a “Constellation of Starses?”
Since I figure this is my only opportunity to talk about it, here’s the Star Maze music which supremely slaps!

And another point for “Things we like in Sticker Star,” here’s their remix of the Star Maze music!
