Seductive God of Thunder
Welcome to the last (for now) review of the “Thor: Love And Thunder” toyline! Today, we’re looking at a figure I was really looking to getting, and now he’s here! Fresh from kicking Thanos’ purple ass and hanging with the Guardians of the Galaxy, put your hands together for “Stormbreaker Strike Thor!”
Tumblr media
“Stormbreaker Strike Thor” is the biggest figure of the line so far. Of course, now that I said that, they’re probably gonna announce an even bigger Thor, but that’s the price I pay for talking. He’s meant to go with the Titan Hero line of figures, like the Mighty Thor figure we looked at last week, but in actuality, he’s bigger than that, meaning there aren’t really any other “Love and Thunder” figures that match up to him in size for him to throw down with. He’s broad-shouldered, muscular, and very strong-looking, and everything is in proportion, which is great. Sometimes, a bigger figure can have hands or a head that don’t quite match the rest of the body, which can be really annoying, but that’s not an issue here, and for that, I am grateful.
In terms of looks, Thor is killing it! His armor is predominantly blue, which is broken up with gold parts all over his body and some great uses of silver on his chest. His red cape, which is cloth, makes his body stand out and also looks just so good hanging off him. Stormbreaker, the hammer, is really detailed as well, giving it some good texture and an excellent appearance. Thor’s hair falls out behind the hammer, and, in a very nice touch, is sculpted to look as though it’s being swept by the wind from swinging his hammer. It’s a cool extra detail that I really love.

Etherial glow sold separately.
In terms of articulation, though, Thor’s not exactly the mightiest Avenger. Some of his electronics are triggered by raising and lowering his right arm, to simulate him using his magic hammer to fight evil, but this means that the right arm’s very limited in what it can do. The wrist can turn, and that’s about it. The arm can only raise and fall, so that’s about it. Thor’s left arm has a lot more shoulder articulation, so it can swing out to the side. Side note here, the left shoulder armor is actually a separate piece than the arm or torso themselves, which keeps the shoulder armor from blocking movement. It’s a great little touch. Thor’s head is meant to be able to rotate, but this is blocked partially by his hair. He can turn his head a little, but not much. What I was really disappointed in, though, were the legs. They’re a solid part of the body, which means they have no articulation at all. Other than the little bits of arm and head articulation, Thor’s kinda a brick. He can’t pose, which is a real bummer. I know he’s a kid’s toy, but kids do love when their toys can move. Case in point, DC’s line of 12 inch figures and Laser Blade Buzz Lightyear, whom you may recall we discussed previously here, are also toys aimed at kids, but have plenty of movement. I just feel like the lack of articulation here is a bit of a buzzkill for me.
Thor comes with the magic hammer Stormbreaker, which he can hold in either hand, although it’s meant to go in his right hand. His grip on it’s a little loose, which is annoying, and it is easy to get the hammer out of his hand, but considering Thor’s go-to attack is throwing his hammer at people, it’s understandable you’d want to have as easy a time as possible moving the hammer in and out of his hand.
Tumblr media
This is the sum total of Thor’s articulation. I blame Loki.
Thor’s electronics are pretty fun, I gotta say. Pressing the stylized, golden “T” on his chest triggers speech and sound, and, like I said before, raising and lowering his right arm triggers some different speech and sound. There is a little overlap in the sound effects, but most of the speech is different depending on which way you trigger the sounds. Swinging the hammer tends to result in more lines regarding Thor’s hammer, and pressing the chest tends to give you more lines where Thor says he’s gonna kick ass.
Stormbreaker Strike Thor is available at mass retail right now and goes for about $30-$40 depending on where you get him. Honestly, I wouldn’t call that a fair price due to the lack of actual articulation. If his legs could move at all, I’d be a bit more forgiving, but as is, he’s a brick with arms. The figure’s very colorful and aimed at kids, who will enjoy him, but wait for him to go down in price and grab him in the clearance aisle. Also, quick thing to note for pet owners: that cloth cape is gonna attract pet hair like nobody’s business, so watch out. If you or someone else really wants a bigger Thor figure, I’d go with the Titan Hero figure. Yes, his appearance is different but it’s still Movie Thor in battle armor with his hammer, and for only $10. But if you really gotta have this particular Thor, wait for the price to drop. This is JL signing off and wishing you Happy Toy Hunting!

Hey all! Hoping one you might be able to help me out! My youngest kiddo has these Marvel toys from the Titan Hero Series line and she's wondering what in the world these slots are for (same though). I looked it up last night and either seems like they're for some kind of stand or a voice box addition but no one seemed to know for sure. Any help would be appreciated!
Also, funny story: My daughter got Captain America exclusively so Batman could beat him in a fight instead of always fighting her Joker action figure. And Spider Gwen is now besties with Batgirl.🤣
