Crime Drama Shipping Bingo

That being said, I rewatch stuff like rookie blue and it actually does fill me with joy and #wholesomefamily. The characters were actually genuine, not everyone was sleeping with each other and the drama wasn’t geared up to level 20 every episode to milk their tragique arcs. I didn’t love the characters as much or the relationships as much as OG Grey’s, but upon rewatching, it’s just much more realistic and mature. Which ultimately makes it feel more wholesome.
Also I love sam’s growth guys like Omg his speeches in the last two episodes, I cry. Never thought I’d see the day where McSwarek became the only rewatchable OTP for me. Their problems made sense? They handled them maturely. Sure there were frustrating plot lines but omg at least no one was cheating left right and center or blowing minor issues out of the water lol.
And I love Andy? She makes mistakes and is a bit emotional but she sure as hell makes sense as a well rounded character. I don’t get half the choices anyone on Greys makes, other than maybe they’re all inept because they’re doctors.

Febuwhump 2023 Day 4
Read it below the line, or here on AO3 (appreciate all kudos, feedback, comments)!
A loud noise startled Andy awake, and she instinctively reached towards the lamp, grabbing it in her hands.
She was about to call out for Sam but remembered that he was hunkered down in the station, working overtime on a case.
There shouldn’t be anyone else in the house.
She grabbed her phone, and dialled 911, before sending an SOS text to Sam. Placing her phone back onto her pillow, she walked over to the wardrobe, dialling in the combination to the gun safe.
Just as soon as she extended her hand to grab her off-duty gun, she was jerked back by her hair, and she felt something sharp nick the skin on her throat.
A dead silence filled the air, neither Andy nor her attacker speaking.
Andy shifted her weight, testing the waters, but the attacker twisted her right hand behind her back into an excruciating angle.
“Cash. Jewellery. Where is it?”
A simple burglary? Really?
“Downstairs.” Andy replied.
Her simple answer seemed to satisfy the burglar, and they pushed her down the stairs, the knife still dangerously close to her carotid. She noticed that they were struggling to walk down in sync with her, but decided it was against her interest to free herself. So, she let her brain work the scene.
She walked past the downstairs mirror, trying to take note of as many identifying features as possible.
Male. White. About six feet. Definitely limping. A tattoo on his left hand, the hand he was holding the knife in.
It was the Fox Burglar, so named after the rather distinctive fox tattoo that covered his left hand.
Police had responded to another burglary in the area and had managed to fire of a couple of shots, but he’d gotten away. Evidently, one of the officers must have shot the burglar.
Most of the Fox’s victims were left alive after the burglary, but there had been a nasty incident with Victim No. 4, who’d been left bleeding out in the middle of her kitchen.
Andy was so lost in thought that she hadn’t even realised when they’d finally made it down the stairs.
“Where now?”
Andy pointed to a hidden compartment in the kitchen, leaning down to open it, laying bare the few savings and possessions they actual bothered to keep in the house.
The burglary greedily eyed his spoils, but his fun was over suddenly when a couple of officers burst her house, guns drawn.
The Fox was in a corner, but he wasn’t giving up – evidently, he wanted to go out and drag Andy with him to the afterlife.
Andy needed to do something. She used her free hand, and reached out for the countertop, as though trying to stabilise herself.
Such an unexpected move threw the Fox and gave the officers enough time to fire a shot, but not before the knife tore through her nightgown and left a nasty gash on her back.
“Andy? Darling?” The familiar and comforting voice of Sam broke through the momentary haze of pain, and she weakly called out to him.
He walked towards her voice, trying to understand the scene that had unfolded in front of him.
“You’re welcome.” Andy quipped, before walking into Sam’s outstretched hands.
“Thought we agreed no working from home.” Sam joked, before he took concern at the second nasty gash across her neck, and grabbed a kitchen towel, wiping away the crimson from Andy’s pale skin.
“Let’s get you looked at.” He said and led Andy outside.
For once, Andy didn’t refuse.

Hey! Have you ever seen the show Rookie Blue? And if not is a show about cops , but if you have do you think the writers of the Rookie should have went the same route they did with Sam and Andy

Yes, I have indeed seen Rookie Blue! McSwarek was adorable!
I see parallels between the two (I'll have to go back and see what ones though). I'd love to see them go the Sam and Andy route! They kind of are I think. I don’t think they’ll go the on again and off again route for Chenford. I think once Chenford is together, they’ll stay together.
The only thing I didn't like about Rookie Blue: the whole Marlo coming back pregnant thing. That is literally the one thing that would make me stop watching The Rookie if they went there with Ashley lol.

What are some ships that you like or liked but don’t or haven’t posted about them here?
Oo fun question!! I’ll start with some ships I know I’ve maybe mentioned on here, but haven’t talked about nearly enough: stellaride, dawsey, and hawkami (all from Fire ofc) & chenford (the rookie)
The rest of the list is not exhaustive bc I’ve liked a ton of ships over the years, but these are just the big ones that come to mind: Booth & Brennan (Bones), McSwarek (Rookie Blue), Jisbon (The Mentalist), Rollisi (svu), Jim & Pam (The Office), Caskett (Castle) and this one is probably very niche but I LOVED Peggy and Sousa on Agent Carter
I also want to add that none of these ships have ever reached the level upstead has for me (chenford has come real close though). The chokehold upstead has on me needs to be studied

I need The Rookie to pull an undercover McSwarek with Chenford. Rookie Blue did such a good job in the season finales of season 1 and 2 with putting Sam and Andy in undercover situations with one another. Chenford has more than earned a sexy tension filled undercover storyline where they finally get to make out.

✏ The first fanfiction you ever wrote? (doesn't have to be a posted fic)
Oooh, good question! Ummm ... I had no idea it was fanfiction at the time, but I remember being in like third grade, laying in bed at night and making up stories about the books I was reading until I fell asleep (fun fact: I still do that, literally almost 20 years later). As for the first fic I actually write down, it was definitely McSwarek my senior year of high school, but I don't remember exactly which story it was. There's a whole notebook with a bunch of them written down, but none will ever see the light of the Internet tyvm.
👀What's an idea you had for a fic that you never did anything with?
There's a note in my phone for a Tarlos idea based on the Jax song Ring Pop that just says "our one-bedroom feels like a castle, pillow and a mattress on the floor, we can build a fort." I'm not sure exactly where it would go, but it's something post-fire as they rebuild their lives together.
