Finally was able to finish my beautiful merman/mermaids! With the help of @lemons4brains choosing the colour palette for their tails

Kinda got lazy with their shading but it is what it is 🤷‍♀️

On the right, i drew Togna Gyhun (he/him)

Next, on the top left, Roian Kahn (they/them)

And finally, on the bottom left, Shaun Tenkin (he/them)

I realise that I drew Shaun with not much space so I might do a singular drawing of all of them soon though.

One thing I love about the Monster x Human dynamic is the possible misunderstandings that come with being separate species.

The possible cultural differences. The awkwardness. Language barriers. Anatomy differences. Maybe they mistake a platonic gesture as romantic or you mistake a romantic gesture from them as platonic.

Maybe you accidentally touch a merperson's gills and they immediately shy away at the unexpected touch. You freak out and apologise because you think you've hurt them while they try and hide their obvious arousal at the intimate touch.

Or an alien whose skin colour changes with their mood. You notice they're always a more reddish colour when near you. When you ask them about it they get even redder and try to make something up while their friends watch and snicker cus they know exactly what that colour means.

You playfully bite your werewolf partner while cuddling and they let out a very erotic groan. Now they have to try and explain to you what marking is to werewolves while also being very horny and embarrassed.

Yan!Merman who swims underneath your boat for a while, following you. you notice this, and decide to leave before he might get hostile.

Yan!Merman who finds himself waiting for you the next day. feeling a sense of happiness when you come back to fish.

Yan!Merman who recognizes the act of fishing, and decides he wants to repay your kindness.

Yan!Merman who easily catches a fish, putting it in his mouth so he can climb into your boat.

Yan!Merman who drops the fish into the boat, taking in your surprised expression. he knows that gift-giving is a sign of courtship in the mermaid world, but he doesn't know about the human world.

Yan!Merman who watches you take the fish with a sudden interest. if you accepting meant you were taking him as your partner, doesn't that mean the two of you mate?

Yan!Merman who gets closer to you, sniffing at your neck. you're uncomfortable, but play it off as a custom for his kind.

Yan!Merman who starts to straddle your hips, snaking his tail around you as he starts to lick your neck.

Yan!Merman who falls backwards with a hurt expression as you push him away. he courted you! you were supposed to mate with him, man or not!

Yan!Merman who watches as your horrified expression slowly turns into a more understanding one. he was different than you, so he must have different customs.

Yan!Merman who eagerly comes back over to you when you pat the spot next to you. he tries to grind against your thigh, getting a few short sways of his hips before you push him off again.

Yan!Merman who thinks he understands, you want your pleasure first. he gets on the floor of the boat and shoves his face into your crotch before you can push him away. he starts suckling through your clothes as you try to push him away, not understanding the strange words you yell.

Yan!Merman who starts tearing up when you shove him away, much much harder then before.

Yan!Merman who's devastated when you won't let him near you again. did he do it wrong? did it not feel good? his mind was reeling.

Yan!Merman who places his head at your feet, sniffling, almost begging for forgiveness.

Yan!Merman who hugs your legs close when you sigh, glad that you're giving him another chance at loving you.

"Be careful venturing too deep, darling, things aren't always what they seem in the dark..." I remember reading a note in one of the art books that the eels' body is luminescent since they live in the deep sea and I just...went a little out of control again and my victim is Jade.

This was so HARD, I don't draw underwater things, but I think this turned out really nice <3 I especially had fun adding the speckles to Jade's body.

Can I also say how touching it is that Stede said he believed Ed would he happier without him, who, even in his fantasies, could only picture Ed wanting him as a picture of masculinity with a beard and no hesitation to kill. Stede still, deep down, doesn't understand why Ed would ever want him as he is.

But who did Ed see coming down to rescue him? It wasn't a manly recreation of Stede with a beard, masculine style and a killing spirit, it was a merman. Someone bright, colourful, by all accounts a rather feminine perception of Stede.

That was who rescued Ed. It wasn't who Stede thought he needed to be, it was someone soft, and bright, and graceful, and expressive. Someone feminine, someone queer.

I just think that's beautiful.
