Okay so…. Maybe I’m not quite done designing mermaids? I got a little carried away thinking of all the other fashions that could inspire mermaids and... here we are! This first un-prompt-list fashion-mermaid is a mermaid based on Mexican Folk Dance dresses. If you have never seen video of these sorts of dances, have never seen these dresses spin? You need to go do that... now would be a great time. The colors are vibrant, the movements are fluid and mesmerizing... I had a fantastic time designing this mermaid.

Bout ten years ago now thru a series of events I don't recall I became online friends with some Australian girl and we would chat online and send each other handwritten letters and even little packidges and then one time she was like hey man why don't we videochat sometime? And I was like yeah sure :) and I literally remember the smile slowly fading from her face when I logged in and she was like..."oh....you're mexican?"
Anyway first real instance of racism for me 🎉

I forgot to add Brumm in the past post, might be a little late but I wanted to draw him as a mariachi totally inspired by one of Kas' drawings
Also thanks to her I made this an implied Grumm art, I started to appreciate the ship a lot more thanks to her🫶🔥🛐

(Reposting concepts from my art blog)
From February 1st to March 12th I will be participating in RPG Maker Horror Jam #2 with the theme "Macabre Carnival".
I feel this will be an amazing way to take a break from Jake's Halloween Night series, plus have a project to practice new things and try different styles and whatnot.
My main goal is to actually finish the game, since until now I've had some bad luck with Game Jams and never actually finished a project for any of the jams I've participated in.
I decided to get inspiration from Mexican folklore and my culture for a change, but giving it a twist like I do with everything else.
Now about my game project for this jam:
The Girl, the Coyote, and the Rabit (Placeholder name)
"A young girl is on her way back home late at night when she stumbles upon a traveling fair of spirits. Stranded in this strange realm, she has no other option but to follow the advice of Coyote, a strange individual that swears can help her go back to her world..."
Notes: When I say "girl" I don't mean a child, in Mexico is pretty common to get called "Niña" no matter your age. A lot of times it comes in the form of diminishment, but other times is just an easy way to call someone you don't know the name of.
I am a tiny bit worried I am once again bitting more than I can chew, especially because I will be having to do a lot of new tiles since it's a very different scenery from my usual "normal house interior". I tried to do as much as the tiles as I could (don't worry it is allowed for this jam) but dealing with the pain of my wisdom teeth removal did slow me down more than I hoped.
I still don't have my protagonist, I really have been struggling designing her, but I will start worrying about it once I reach the more art part of the development.
I am very excited about this! I hope I can pass on some of that hype to you :D
