4) What is your favourite genre to write for?

for fanfic: I like the Angst. Is angst a genre? I do not like hurt comfort because writing the comfort is tedious and can find no measure of satisfaction from it. (I LOVE reading h/c!) I tend to write character-driven drama and I will sacrifice actionplot for feelingsplot any day. also non-au historical fiction gives me a serotonin hit!for ofic: I tend to write speculative stuff but also a fair amount of historical fiction!

13) Who is your least favourite character to write for? Why?I don’t know that I have one! I’ll say that I find it challenging to write characters who have Hearts of Gold because No Human Is That Good. I also tend to avoid writing characters that are usually comic relief/light-hearted/funny/mentally healthy. I don’t know what that looks like. Everyone gets neuroses and suffering when I’m writing them.27) Do you make a general outline for your stories or do you just go with the flow?

Story premises come to me fairly fully-formed. I usually know my setup and my climax or my climax and my ending going in. So I have places I know I need to hit and then the rest tends to generate itself fairly easily. Sometimes I have to write to find out the ending and my stories are usually better for it. I am definitely not an outliner or a microplanner - if I know what the story is about emotionally the rest will follow without having to force it. But if I DON’T have that emotional core in place it’s like pulling teeth. I hate it. 40) Do people know you write fanfiction?

My very close friends do (mostly indifferent/bemused/second-handedly embarrassed), my sister with a masters in english does and she makes fun of me for it. I don’t think I’ve been in a work situation where that’s come up. It’s not something I want to hide, it’s something I want to normalize. 48) What’s your favourite trope to write?

A is replaced by a shapeshifter, brutalizes B, A comes back to pick up the pieces with B.

ORA and B are in love, have the knock-down drag-out fight of a lifetime, A and B are separated (incarceration, captivity, locked in another dimension, etc) before they can reconcile. B thinks A is dead, A is getting the shit beaten out of them thinking B hates them, they reunite and deal with the fallout.
