i've seen a LOT of millenial and gen x gays reclaim f**. it's not wildly uncommon for them. yet i've NEVER seen them use it on each other on the internet (ie to strangers....and yes ccs are strangers). gen z seems to have decided to "reclaim" fruit and use it with wild abandon without realizing it's literally just them. i've seen a lot of millenial gays talk about how fucking weird it is for everyone to freely call strangers "fruity" now. i think gen z thinks it's community slang (it's not and never has been) and it got lost in translation but who knows

I honestly think it’s partially generational (again, tik tok has had a huge effect on this) and partially to do with privilege of where you live/family/etc. I grew up in one of the resists districts in my state, in a very rural area (my school had “drive your tractor to school day” for fucks sake) so there was exactly one girl who was Out in my graduating class. ONE. So yeah the idea of calling other people the slurs that I heard thrown around as a “joke” is so foreign to me, even as a gen Z.

When my mom was 20, women were still buying dress patterns and bolts of cloth and making their own clothes. There were three TV channels and the government turned them off at midnight. You could buy a good used car for $700. You could pay a mortgage and comfortably raise a family of four on one income of $11,000 a year. Movies and popular music were made by innovative rebel artists because the consumer market demanded fun things they had never seen before.

Oh and also, public racial slurs were considered light comedy, and no one was quite sure what rape even was, including the police and the US Justice Department.

This doesn't excuse old people when they insist on being horrible idiots. But it does explain why half the time they don't even know they're doing that, and why they don't get Rick and Morty and never will. We're almost literally from different planets.

Acne: Smash or Pass?

Yes, it is 2017. Yes, I realize that 2016 was the big year of body positivity and self love. But over the course of 2016 and what has been of 2017, I rarely ever see acne positivity. Yes, here and there there might be a post or article on how acne is a natural process and no one should shame themselves for it, and I entirerly agree. I believe we should have more awareness and positivity on acne in the first place! Many teens, such as myself, may feel like acne is a dead shoot of any decent looks, but that’s wrong! Acne is natural, and we should not be shamed for it. It doesn’t matter your gender, male, female, non-binary, etc. you will at least encounter one pimple to rise on your face in your lifetime. I myself get breakouts of small acne in large amounts typically on my forehead, chin, and t-zone, and I honestly only cover it when I have a major activity going on. I know tons of people who don’t have a care at all for covering it. Some feel as though they want to, and if they want to then they should! Whether you cover your acne or not should be up to you, not peers or society’s standards. You should not have to feel pressured into covering your acne or feeling ashamed that you have it.
