CLOVERCRAFTED'S BUILDTOBER 2023
[image i.d: a dark greenish-blue spooky forest with white text overlayed on top, the contents of the text is described after the rules]
hello and welcome once again to clovercrafted's buildtober 2023 edition! an event created to challenge and inspire some spooky and seasonal builds! coming to you mildly belated!
How does this work?
Simple! Above there is a prompt listed for each day (I'll also write them below as well so there's both text and image available). There's 31 themes for the 31 days of October! For each theme you build something related to it in Minecraft! It's up to you how to complete each theme!
Can I use Mods, texture packs, shaders, other things that aren't vanilla?
Yeah! Go wild! Have fun! Use whatever you have at your disposial!
Do I have to do these in order?
Well, yes but also no! If you want to go in order you can do, but I also don't mind if you skip a day to come back to it later or do them out of order if you get stumped.
What if October decides that I can't do this for reasons?
No prob bob! If you miss a day you can do it whenever, if you forget same thing do it when you want to. If you end up missing all of the month don't worry, I won't be throwing the list away so you can pick it up when you please. Heck even make it buildcember or something!
Sweet I think I know what I'm doing now! But what if I have more questions?
Drop me an ask for any extra info! You can start uploading your builds on October 1st your timezone! Feel free to tag me @clovercrafted in your builds if you'd like and don't forget to use the tag #clovers buildtober 2023 so I can lurk on the tag!

PCWT: Closet Crafting, Discreet Devotions, and Inconspicuous Altars
Tumblr media
So while not necessarily in the full vein of Pop Culture Witchcraft and Pop Culture Paganism, I’ve had several requests regarding how to work one’s craft discreetly. And so I thought, why not put a little PCW spin on things while I’m at it at least?
Whether it’s a nervousness about being open as a witch, wanting to be more subtle, or in some cases harsh living situations, there’s several reasons to want to be perhaps more inconspicuous in one’s inner ways. Though in the case of the latter situation in particular, --please-- make sure to put your personal safety and well-being first before trying any of these tips. We cannot guarantee that you won’t get in any sort of trouble for these.
Starting off, we have
In-Game Ideas
Do you devote yourself to anyone in particular when it comes to Pop Culture Witchcraft or Pop Culture Paganism that stems from a game-based source? Do you enjoy playing games focused on decorating, building, or life simulators? Then why not try these tips!
Try making an altar or devotional space in games such as Animal Crossing, The Sims, Minecraft using in-game items or even modded items! Rooms and spaces can easily be made for general purposes such as elemental altars, nature-based altars, and depending on who you work with, even items that pertain to them in particular
Use games such as the aforementioned Animal Crossing or The Sims as a form of sympathetic magic! Want to focus on self-care and inner beauty? Why not give gifts to your favorite “Snooty” villager who represents those aspects? Want to perhaps make some misfortune come to someone? Make them into a Sim and get up to some mischief with their Sim-Poppet!
Don’t have space to do your own gardening but want to still do some sort of green witchery? Why not try farming sims such as Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons to scratch that botanical itch for the time being? You can even make digital spell jars in some cases by growing the plants that best represent your purpose and placing them in chests with other items that may also best represent that purpose?
These are just some possibilities in the way of In-Game methods of spellcrafting and the like, but what about those hidden little shows of devotion or love towards someone you work with outside of their mediums?
Discreet Devotions and Obscured Offerings
Hear me out: Devotional Ita Bags. Collect charms, pins, stickers, etc. of who or whatever you work with! Work with a traditional pertaining to solar energies? Why not a brightly colored bag with sun-based imagery? Work with a pop culture deity/entity/spirtit/etc.? Places like Etsy and Redbubble just to name a few have plenty of options when it comes to fan-merch (of course make sure that the stuff from Redbubble is not stolen from other artists)
Playing an RPG game or something similar? Why not devote a playthrough for whomever you wish? Make your character a hunter-based class in honor of someone associated with hunting and the wild! Pop Culture Wise, if working with a game characters, why not play as them if applicable or even bring positive actions to your character of choice? Boost their stats, complete some quests, the whole nine-yards for them!
We’ve mentioned this before, but why not try making private moodboards, Pinterest collections, or even music playlists for whomever you work with? Energy and devotion is still energy and devotion no matter the medium, ancient and traditional or even modern and tech-focused. At the end of the day, it’s your safety and comfort that matters the most.
While this isn’t a complete list of ideas, here’s a few to get yourself started! But as we’ve said before,
Do not compromise your health, safety, and/or financial stability for the sake of your craft.
You. Come. First.
But as always,
Stay safe, have fun, stay spooky! 🦇💜

Digital shrines/altars!
I don't have one, but I'm currently brainstorming with someone on discord who is in the broom closet and looking for ideas. Here's what we've come up with so far:
On the more shrine-like end of things:
Mood boards
Pinterest boards
On the more altar-like end:
A private discord server where you can light emoji candles and incense, post devotional poetry, post sigils, etc.
Build an altar space in a video game like Minecraft or the Sims
If anyone has more ideas, I'd love to hear them!

just gone back to rewatch cleo's first ever hermitcraft episode (titled 'More, sort of, um, petrified) because I adore it. highlights:
'um that's a lot of people'
'to be honest, I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know where I'm going, and and and this is kind of scary, so welcome to hermitcraft 2.0, people! for those of you wondering how I got on I was, I was, um, invited by Joe. Um wow this is pretty place - as minecraft goes, you understand - and there's a Fuck ton of horses over there. Um yeah, I have no idea what I'm doing and I have no idea what the server- um, you know, no idea what's required on the server erm because, well um, because Joe's offline and I'm too shy to speak to everybody so um- yeah!'
Joe comes back! Cleo unmutes in the TeamSpeak!! Hello hermits!!
Cleo builds a janky little starter home with mismatched wood types and everything <33
Hermit introductions! This segment is lovingly titled the AA meeting
Joe: i know some of y'all are more enigmatic than others
Cleo (speaking for the first time in minutes): that's because you're not enigmatic at all
Pungence is here!!
'we are really not good at anything!' - Joe Hills 2013
'a little south of London, is that a euphemism?' - JOE! NO!
'[...] Sounds a bit kinky' - Cleo, big and bold, hopping into a conversation about horses
Joe struggles to pick out Mumbo's voice from a sea of unfamiliar Brits (he's actually hearing monkeyfarm). Mumbo is impersonated ruthlessly as he is absent
Joe is determined to put in a traffic light on the one road built at spawn
[Cleowo voice] Pony!!
Cleo gets stuck on a pillar, surrounded by every zombie on the server
Mumbo is playing as 'MrMumbo'
[Cleo gleefully watches another fleet of zombies burn] 'Well, I got all my shit, I'm going home'
'Because it's Joe, and Joe won't mind me poking around his stuff' (It's not Joe's stuff. WHERES JOE?)
Joe lives in an altar. Cleo falls in a hole

Another vivid dream here we go
So this one takes place in a HUGE grovelike cavern. Like a football field. Brown rock as far as the eye can see. But enough sunlight coming through the top its nice and bright, however not enough to see open sky.
There are two princesses. One with orange hair & green eyes. Think Merida from Brave but only in looks & accent. Also kinda buff. She has basically earth bending powers and also is amazing at archeology. Specifically unearthing artifacts from civilizations. I’ll call her Marble.
The other princess has the voice of Honey Lemon from Big Hero 6 & honestly i never could tell her hair color because it was adorned with so much greenery. She had freckles for days and a smile like the sun above us. And eyes that either changed or she had heterochromia bc my brain couldn’t decide between grayish or hazel. She had the ability to grow plants and was tech savvy. I’ll call her Petunia.
So this dream was partially from a third person perspective, but when a dialogue opened up i was usually in the perspective of the earth princess Marble.
At first, it seems they’re in a race. They run across this earthen catwalk and start to use their powers to basically parkour across the many rocky outcrops here. Marble creating new jutting rock structures as Petunia leaves greenery in her wake, being helped by the occasional tree. They both seemed to be having fun.
After a bit of this, they come across a particular outcropping that makes them stop. Not because something is in the way, it’s simply a puzzle. Here I learn that it’s a ritual of some sort. It’s strange though bc the puzzle pertains to both their interests. They unearth “artifacts” which seem like fairly modern components but weird like a cartoonishly big SD card that works with a laptop the size of it. Basically Marble digs them up while Petunia figures out how they go together like minecraft crafting.
When they finish the puzzle and continue, they start talking about how they’re going to change into their gowns. And how they shouldn’t look at each other. They then proceed to use their respective powers to change and immediately can’t help but look at each other & smile.
Then I realize “holy shit this is a gay wedding ritual” as they approach what I assume is a fantasy altar as they take each other’s hands. Petunia’s gown is adorned in vibrant greens with various flowers among her mossy skirt. Marble’s gown has fiery colors of what I assume to be jasper or tiger’s eye. Maybe both. Adorned on her like scales. Both have a matching tiara.
Before I could see the ritual end, the dream changed? No not exactly bc it cuts to me doing Marble’s voice as I stand up from a table in a garage with people. Was this a fukin ttrpg with friends?? A really vibrant brainstorm? Was I describing an idea? I had no time to figure out bc I walked home & woke up.

Could I get an Ace x reader one shot of Ace and reader playing Minecraft or animal crossing and getting married in game? 🥺 Just having a rough time rn and I need a comfort fic
Sure thing! I don't really know Animal Crossing but as a person who played Minecraft for over 7 years (before the newer updates started) I can say I am an expert at the OG version so I decide to write you a Minecraft Wedding. I hope this can put a smile on your face
Minecraft Wedding
Ace x Reader
Tumblr media
"Can I put my Minecraft bed next to yours?" Ace asked you, holding his red bed in his hand.
"Pfft, if we got married then sure," you joked as you continued to decorate your room.
"Okay." Ace walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.
You took a moment to roll your eyes in reality before placing down another crafted banner. You knew Ace usually was too busy mining or fighting mobs to actually build a house in survival, that and laziness. When Ace did take the time to build a house, well you could tell he built it in a rush and made things practical. At least he wasn't as bad as Luffy. You were grateful at least Sabo could build houses.
You were almost done putting in windows when Ace called for you.
"[Y/n], come outside!"
"I'm almost finished!"
"You can finish it later! Come on!"
"Fine." You opened the door and walked down the stairs, passing the kitchen to the front door. You strolled out and saw Ace wearing black leather armour. "Where's your diamond armour?"
"In my inventory," he replied then gave you white leather armour. "Here, wear this."
"But my diamond armour-"
"It'll be for a few minutes." Ace reassured you. "Do you have any flowers in your inventory?"
"Yeah," you answered as you switched the diamond armour with the white leather armour. "Why?"
"Great hold it in your hand," he told you then you heard him walk away and the "STRAD" music disc start to play.
"Ace-" You quickly put the flower in your hand then exited out of your inventory. "Ace, what-" You turned the corner around your house to be met with a red carpet at your feet, you looked straight ahead to see a bunch of villagers standing on rows of quartz stairs and one standing behind an altar, which Ace stood in front of. "Ace... what's all this?"
"We're getting married!" Ace stated, hitting the shift and right-click buttons to gesture his excitement.
Your face exploded in flames. You didn't think he'd actually take your joke seriously, maybe Luffy- well they are brothers. Still, you couldn't help but feel flustered. You walked down the red carpet and stood on the other side of the altar.
The villager spoke some gibberish, and Ace replied, "I do."
It said some more gibberish and you responded, "I do."
The two of you then put your character's faces together pretending to kiss.
"So, now can I put my Minecraft bed next to yours?" Ace asked, you could just hear the smirk on his face.
"Of course," you laugh.

HELLO TUMBLR I AM ONCE AGAIN THINKING OF CUSTOMS FOR FICTIONAL MINECRAFT RACES
SPECIFICALLY ENDERMAN, ELYTRIAN, AND PIGLIN CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS CENTERED AROUND MARRIAGE
so, without further adue, beeduo wedding but Phil, Tech, and niki (I headcannon her as Ranboo's older sister, who is an ender dragon hybrid) attempt to include aspects of all three cultures:
END CULTURE:
"Marriage" isn't really a thing. Most endermen just kinda vibe, their only goals being survival and reproduction. I have a whole rant about Endermen reproduction, here's a few quotes relating to mates and the closest thing to "marriage" End culture has:
Enderman have partners to protect their young
If an Enderman finds another Enderman they see as fit to provide for children, they'll give them a gift as a way to "propose"
These gifts are often food or ores from the overworld
If they accept, the pair finds a place to settle, kinda like a home base
In Niki's eyes, there is nothing more to do. The two are all set. Ranboo is intrigued by the concept of weddings and marriages, he thinks it's sweet. He's asked Phil to tell him all about them, it's quite interesting to him. Despite being around people for most of his life, he still can't quite grasp overworld customs. Niki wants nothing more than to make her little brother happy.
So niki, being a baker, makes the food. As mentioned before, overworld food is considered quite special in their culture, despite Endermen often being found visiting the overworld. And she goes insane with the food. The menu includes:
Pasta. So many types of pasta. Like holy shit what do you not have anything else to do-
A variety of salads.
Sub sandwiches.
Carrot cake. Specifically carrot cake.
So. Many. Cupcakes.
A cookie cake.
Three different types of punch.
The leftovers were fed to Tech's wolf pack a week after the celebrations ended.
PIGLIN CULTURE:
Piglins are constantly on the move. The nether is dangerous, you can't afford to get too attached to one place. But they go apeshit when it comes to weddings.
It's quite a basic ceremony, not much unlike that of those from the overworld. An exchange of gifts, often a crown, ring, bracelet or necklace with a polished piece of obsidian in the center. It's short and sweet, the newly married pair holding hands as they walk away from the altar.
The afterparty is a ball. Piglin brutes will spend several days digging out a large room and carving intricate designs into the walls. Sometimes there is music, other times it's just the chatter of the crowd, but it's fun nonetheless. A cooked hoglin rests on a pile of logs in the center of the ballroom, with a sword on each side. There is no set mealtime, they simply eat when they are hungry.
The clothes are the most impressive part.
Piglins have very limited resources, but they make the most of it. Here's some concepts for wedding garments:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gold bracelets! Tusk rings! Wooden beads and jewelry!! Dye made from the leaves of trees!! Bones! Ghast tears!!!!
Scars are highlighted using gold dust to showcase the bravery of the partners.
They go all out.
So Techno takes Tommy, who knows how to sew, into the nether. They do some trading, they talk to some piglins, and eventually they end up attending a piglin wedding. Tommy uses it as inspiration, making the garments as close to those made in the nether as possible.
A ballroom is built inside the hills of Snowchester.
ELYTRIAN / AVIAN CULTURE:
Dances! Songs! Instruments!! Rattles! Chants! Feather dyeing!!!! Robes!!
Elytrians care less about asthetics than sound. Sound is where it's at. Sure, they have ceremonial robes, but the sounds though. Children dancing with rattles. Mating dances. Colorful feathers. Sound, movement and color.
Phil makes a variety of rattles for the guests. He dyes his feathers and offers to dye the wings of other feathered guests.
He taught the two teens a simple dance, not a Mating dance because they are a queerplatonic and have no interest in reproduction, but a dance used by young avians, one that was often used as a proposal. A traditional dance passed from generation to generation.
The end result:
The guests meet in the ballroom, seating themselves on mats on the ground. Tubbo sits on a very fancy chair in the front, awaiting his partner. Ranboo partner's. Down the isle. He offers Tubbo a dance. He accepts. They dance, the only sounds being their own giggles and the notes coming from the jukebox. The two are wearing the clothes made by their best friend. Ranboo, in a cyan and grey tunic, with beads hanging from thin strings on his waist, and Tubbo, wearing a read dress with a wooden emblem on the chest, decorative beads hanging from strings on his belt. The dance ended with an exchange of crowns, gold with obsidian stones. The teens walked away from the front, waltzing onto the dance floor. The guests follow, picking up their mats and tucking them away before going off to dance.
A table in the center is covered end to end in food. The guests eat when they are hungry, everything is in its own containers or on plates so they can be eaten without cutlery. The guests are given rattles. They dance around the room, they laugh and joke. The night is good. It lasts all night, starting as the sun set and ending as it rises.

Ignorance Is Bliss (Or Is It?) (Empires SMP)
summary: Joel went throughout his days blatantly ignoring Xornoth's existence until the day he couldn't.
Or, the five times Joel didn't believe in the demon and the one time he did.
ao3 link here!
word count: 3017
warning: major character death (permanent), blood, fighting, death (in the minecraft sense)
~~~
There was no demon, Joel thought as he kneeled in the sweltering mesa sun, yanking out the blood red “corruption” and replacing it with moss and terracotta.
He had heard the rumblings, of course, of some kind of “demon” tormenting the other empires. But Joel refused to believe it. It was probably some kind of prank by fWhip.
“I’ll show him who’s poor,” he grumbled to himself as he stood up. “Then he won’t know what hit him.”
He moved onto the next patch of red. He couldn’t think of anyone else who could’ve possibly pulled this prank. Sausage?
But no, Joel had visited fWhip a while back and knew of his obsession with redstone. Who was fWhip fooling? If he were pulling this prank, he would’ve used a block from another kingdom like amethyst or mushroom, not the colour of your entire empire.
Joel just frowned even deeper as he began walking to his base—he had run out of moss and terracotta again. There had to be an easier way of getting moss.
While walking down the orange rocks of his empire, he saw Lizzie inspecting one of the “corrupted” blocks. “It got you too?” She asked.
Joel tried to wipe as much sweat off his forehead as possible. He was planning to propose tomorrow, he didn’t want Lizzie to think he sat around in dirt all day. “What are you on about?”
“The demon. Haven’t you heard? It’s been spreading this corruption everywhere.”
Joel chuckled, “corruption? This isn’t corruption, Lizzie, it’s just fWhip messing around with me. Don’t worry, though, I’ll be sure to get back at him.”
“Does fWhip have a problem with every single empire then?” Lizzie asked, an eyebrow raised. “It’s literally everywhere.” She jabbed a finger at the red block next to her.
Joel ignored Lizzie’s comment and continued on, “I can come to the Prisma Palace and help you replace all the blocks, if you want.”
If there did so happen to be a “demon” who was replacing blocks, which there wasn’t, it was more of an annoyance than anything.
~~~
The Church of the Blood Sheep was packed with rulers and sheep alike. Likewise, all Joel could hear was the bleating of sheep and the soft chatter from the nearest pew.
Maybe, eventually, he and Lizzie could renew their vows in a less weird church. Hopefully without any farm animals.
“Hey, at least it doesn’t stink of sheep poop,” Jimmy said, standing next to him at the altar. “It could be much, much, worse.”
Joel scrunched up his nose at the thought of it. Yes, perhaps this church wasn’t all that bad. At the moment, all that mattered was the fact that he and Lizzie were getting married. They could’ve gotten married in a dirt hole and it would still be special because he was with her.
At the sound of the noteblocks and Joey making his way to the front, a hush settled across the church and even the blood sheep seemed to turn towards the entrance, awaiting the Queen of the Ocean Empire.
Joel watched as Lizzie slowly made her way down the aisle, the crown of the Overgrown atop her head, blue mushrooms dangling from either ear, an amethyst pendant hanging around her neck, and a golden apple clutched in her hand with a bite taken out of it. She seemed to glow as she walked down to the altar and Joel blinked rapidly to get rid of the stinging sensation behind his eyes.
Joel could hardly hear what Joey was saying. Seeing Lizzie in front of him—his future wife!—was so surreal. How had he managed to get the Ocean Queen to like a guy like him? Who killed horses as a hobby?
He snapped back to attention before they exchanged their kiss and when Joey was mentioning that he had invited someone else to the wedding who he loved. Out of the corner of his eye, Joel could see a dark figure with glowing red eyes sneak out of the front door, the door banging shut behind him.
Everyone tittered awkwardly and Joel could hear the murmurings of the guests talking about the nonexistent “demon” who now seemed to have a cool-guy name to go with his persona: Xornoth. Couldn’t the prankster behind the “demon” have chosen the name Chad instead? That could have worked equally as well and would’ve been easier to spell.
Joel rolled his eyes. He had just gotten married. There was no “demon” and Joel was craving some wedding cake. “C’mon guys, it was probably just a wedding crasher who’s had enough.”
~~~
As Joel flew through the endless skies of the end, he only had one thought in his mind: kill the dragon . The dragon wasn’t too hard to kill and he was sick of dying to the void. Besides, what was the point of purposefully dying if he didn’t get a head to make one of his clones with?
But as he, Jimmy, Pix, Lizzie, Sausage, and Joey started destroying the crystals, it seemed that Katherine, Gem, Fwhip, Shubble, Scott, and Pearl were placing new ones. How infuriating.
Joel liked challenges but he just wanted this dragon dead and gone. She had been terrorising the end for far too long. It had to be done.
Everyone was shouting and no one seemed to be listening to each other but Joel forged on with his allies, shooting at crystals and striking the dragon with his sword anytime he could.
Then, finally, in a burst of purple light, the dragon disintegrated and the end became as quiet as the void was empty. Joel landed in the water someone had placed, making a small splash.
Suddenly, as if someone had pressed unmute, everyone began arguing with each other once again, this time with more fervor.
“Joey, what did you do? ”
“What the heck just happened?”
“The dragon deserved life.”
“What do you mean—you unleashed the demon!”
And then, over all the voices, a deeper, growly, one said, “perfect. Now it begins…”
Everyone craned their necks up to one of the end spikes where a figure with large horns on either side of his head stood. He stared down at them all with contempt.
Joel squinted up at the “demon”. “Alright,” he said sarcastically as people began fervently pushing them all towards the portal to go home. “Who’s the wise guy with the voice changer?”
~~~
Joel was beginning to get sick of the “demon’s” antics. First the red blocks dotting his kingdom and now full blown tentacles that rose high above his empire?
He knew from Lizzie they were showing up in everyone’s kingdom. Fwhip needed to get a life. He had too much time on his hands to create multiple huge red tentacles in twelve different empires.
Joel only wished the tentacles were made of concrete (or moss!) because then he could have gotten something out of it, money or just blocks in general to build with.
Flying up to the top of the tentacle, Joel couldn’t help but admire the view. He could see the shape of Lizzie’s Prisma Palace in the distance and then the ring in the ocean when he proposed to her.
Perched like a bird, Joel turned around towards his own empire with splashes of oranges, purples, greens. His unfinished mega base looked small from this perspective and his starter base, in turn, looked puny.
His eyes roved over every single build and Joel zeroed in on a small space on the outskirts of his empire. It would be the perfect place to put a little building. His mind began to whirl for ideas—shops, houses, public buildings…
It was like a lightbulb went off in his head and Joel’s back straightened. A smug smile grew on his face as he pulled out his hoe, leaning it against his shoulder.
Joel watched as the sun began to set, the idea forming perfectly in his mind. A recording studio. He would write a diss track for Fwhip. He was the only one Joel could think of that had the abilities and materials to build something that resembled a demon.
Joel already knew what his first line would be: FWhip, remember when you called me poor? And no, he doesn’t hold grudges, what are you talking about?
He was getting giddy with excitement, wanting nothing more than to fly off and begin messing around with block colours for his studio. What colours would his roof be? What kind of rooms?
Joel stopped himself before he could leave on his building whims. He let his hoe drop down on top of the tentacle, determination written on his face. First, he had to destroy this stupid tentacle. Perhaps he’d turn one into a tree.
~~~
“Who’s going to be the battlees this evening?” Sausage asked from the viewing stands in the battle arena.
Pearl volunteered first and Joel raised his hand enthusiastically. “Me! I want to fight!” He exclaimed. Soon, both Fwhip and Pixelriffs were brought onto the arena for a 2v2—he and Pearl versus Fwhip and Pixelriffs.
The ground rules were set (which were basically none) and each fighter set their spawn. Then, it began.
It seemed easy enough. They started with strategic bowing before going in with the closer combat weapons. He threw his bucket of lava on Pix.
Soon enough, however, it was just him and Fwhip. Joel’s grudge against Fwhip had been laid to rest, as he performed his kiss track a couple days prior. With his grudge being thrown out the window, so did his thinking that Fwhip was behind the “demon”.
Joel found it quite fun running and slashing his sword towards the goggled man. He was going to win this.
They ran around the arena, attempting to heal up. Joel tried to ignore the fact that he was on fire. He gripped his sword tightly before running at Fwhip, letting out a mangled scream.
And then he was dead.
And then Fwhip was dead.
The battle arena was deathly silent as the four of them began picking up their dropped belongings. Joel just barely heard Sausage and Pearl agreeing that Pix and Fwhip won since he had died first.
Pearl and Pixel then began a 1v1—no armour, only weapons.
Joel rolled his eyes and made his way up to the stands to sulk, sitting just behind Gem. She had her wizard staff in her hand, the end tucked between her legs and watching the fight with interest.
Joel quietly leaned forward, a mischievous smile taking over his features. “Gem, I dare you to shoot Katherine.” He gestured to the Guardian of the Overgrown across the stands and drew his bow.
After a couple of shots from the both of them, Gem finally hit Katherine and she dropped to the ground like stone.
Pearl won the fight but, to be honest, Joel wasn’t paying attention. Instead, he was too busy laughing with Gem at Katherine’s reaction to them killing her.
Next, Pearl asked who was next and Joel quickly jumped down from the stands and landed in the arena. “I will.” He was going to win this one, he was sure of it.
Their fight was a short one, with the two of them killing each other almost milliseconds away from one another.
Night quickly fell and Sausage began introducing someone else to the arena and talking about turning it up to the “next level”. Joel was initially excited by the prospect. That is, until he saw the familiar “demon” thing appear out of thin air. Most likely a perfectly timed invisibility potion wearing off but Joel could agree that the dramatics were there.
Perhaps it was Scott, then. Scott wasn’t present in the arena and Joel always noticed a bit of Scott’s accent slipping out of the “demon’s” mouth from time to time.
Joel didn’t want to fight a “demon” (AKA someone who happened to be in creative mode). He refused to even acknowledge his existence. “I can’t hear anything. Why is Pearl talking to herself?” Joel asked Gem and Fwhip as the latter gave him an invisibility potion.
Joel downed the potion but didn’t stay for long, deciding to fly out of the top of the arena once Sausage began speaking in a similar fashion to the “demon” like some wannabe and killing those in his sightline.
He spent the next week working on his megabase, removing the memory from his brain.
~~~
Lizzie’s scream pierced through the air.
Joel, who had been making his way towards Jimmy’s empire, stopped almost mid-flight. Panic began to set in the bottom of his stomach. She’s fine, right? She’s fully capable of taking care of herself.
But, after Joel heard another pained screech coming from his wife, he quickly changed course towards the Prisma Palace.
He almost crash landed onto the staircase of the palace but quickly righted himself before running up the last couple of steps to the top. As he got there and took in the scene before him, he stopped dead in his tracks.
Lizzie was surrounded by three ravagers with vexes attacking from all sides. She was gripping her waist, trying to protect a massive open wound that Joel could spot from behind her bloodied fingers. The “demon” was floating nearby, watching everything with an amused smile.
“Hey, Scott! You big bully, get away from my wife!”
The “demon” swung his head over to Joel, his purple eyes flashing. With his teeth barred, he growled, “don’t you dare call me that name.”
Joel was mildly surprised by the “demon’s” tone. He always seemed to be in control of the situation, laughing at the other emperors.
“Yeah, I guessed your ‘secret identity’,” Joel said, pulling out his sword with fiery eyes. “You aren’t exactly subtle about it.” He paused before adding in, “Scott.”
Lizzie grabbed Joel’s arm and, with a hiss, exclaimed, “Joel, you’re just making him angry! He’s not Scott.”
Joel shrugged off Lizzie’s hand and narrowed his eyes at the “demon”. He pointed his sword directly at him, doing a couple of practice slashes. “What I don’t get, Scott, is why? I always thought you’d get bored up there but hurting my wife? You’ve crossed a line.” Joel’s jaw was clenched as he watched the “demon’s” expression.
“Do not call me by his name!” The “demon” roared, purple lightning beginning to form between his talons and horns. The lightning slowly enlarged and expanded and Joel quickly pushed Lizzie to the other side of the Prisma Palace.
The “demon” cackled and rose further off the floor, a large gust of wind knocking him and Lizzie off their feet and to either end of the floor. The “demon” stretched his arms as far as they could go until the purple lightning was forming into a big ball above his head.
Joel’s eyes widened as the lightning ball grew larger and larger. With sickening realization, he stumbled to his feet and ran towards Lizzie. “Lizzie!” He shouted, pushing his hair out of his eyes, glancing over at the demon with fear. “Jump off! Swim away!” He was six feet away from Lizzie…five…four…three…
But it was too late. With a predatory grin, the demon clapped his hands together in front of him and a purple bolt shot out from the ball and struck Lizzie square in the chest.
She fell backwards, instantly going limp, her shimmering blue scales fading to a dull grey.
“No!” Joel shouted as the demon blinked calmly at him. With a snap of his finger, the ravagers and vexes disappeared.
A second later, Joel staggered to Lizzie’s body, falling to his knees. Shaking her fervently, he whispered, “Lizzie! Come back! Where are you?”
Anger built up in him and he glared at the demon. “Dammit, what did you do? Why isn’t she respawning?”
The demon just smiled serenely. “It was her time to go. Permanently. She was out of water for far too long.” He laughed at his own joke.
“Arggggghh!” Joel screamed, tears blinding his eyes, rising to his feet and pulling out his sword in an instant. When his blade was millimeters away from the demon, he vanished, Joel’s sword slicing through nothing.
“Fight me!” Joel shouted into the air. “Come back and stop hiding like a coward! Fight me!!”
His arms dropped to his side and his sword clattered to the floor when he got no response. The demon wasn’t coming back. “No, no, nonono,” he muttered, wiping his eyes with his arm. He draped himself over Lizzie’s body and shook her even more. “Wake up, Lizzie! C’mon! ”
Joel kneeled there for what seemed like hours, tears streaming down his cheeks. Just when he thought his eyes had dried out, another wave of sadness washed over him and he cried even harder. It hit him over and over and over again that Lizzie was gone. She was gone forever.
When the exhaustion settled in, Joel still didn’t move even though his cheeks were dry. All he felt was complete emptiness. Who would be his better half now? Who would tease him for all his odd quirks? What about renewing their vows?
Joel didn’t know when he had fallen asleep, only waking up to Lady Marceline’s squelching sound as she walked across the Prisma Palace’s floor and over his sword, laying nearby. He didn’t know what day it was or how long he had been laying next to Lizzie’s body. His brain was groggy and his feet were numb.
He slowly made his way into a standing position and gently scooped up Lady Marceline before plopping her into his bucket. Lifting the hilt of his sword and letting the blade drag across the floor, Joel stepped out onto the steps of the Prisma Palace. He breathed in the ocean air.
He needed to do something. An itch was beginning in him and the only thing that would satisfy it was revenge. Pure, unadulterated, revenge.
Joel slowly glanced behind him at Lizzie’s limp body before gripping his sword tighter. He was going to kill Xornoth.

A Beginners Guide to Energy Work
+Spoonie Tips 💜
When it comes to spell work, and honestly witchcraft in general, energy work is a huge part of it all. No matter what one does within witchcraft, energy is one of the most important parts that come into play.
When you create a sigil, cast a spell, or do anything that involves intention you are using energy. Whether the energy be your own or energy from another person, or from the elements.
To protect your energy from draining during spellwork or from Energy Vampires, here are a few things you can do:
Ground yourself by meditating. Grounding will help you focus your energy as well as your intentions.
Veil yourself. Veiling is kind of like a shield that will protect your energy from straying out, or being drained by energy vampires.
Call upon the elements to borrow some of their energy instead of your own. The elements are all around us: from the air we breathe, the fire within our chests, the water we drink and the ground beneath our feet. As well as the energy that is spirit that is our souls.
Always eat something that provides good energy before and after spell work. I really don't see people speak about this which is, disheartening. Food gives us the strength and energy we need in general so why not for spell work?
Spoonie Tips.
A spoonie is a witch that has a chronic illness, disability or mental illness. The term comes from The Spoon Theory by Christine Miseramdino on her blog. Here are some tips for Spoonie Witches:
Don't spend all your time (and energy) trying to do something that you don't think you can. It's 100% okay to take shortcuts.
If meditation is hard for you to do sitting up, find somewhere comfortable to lay down.
Use sigils as a shortcut instead of trying to cast a full on spell. (This is what I do a lot, ngl)
Use tarot apps instead of actual decks. (Galaxy Tarot on android is Fantastic!)
Use digital grimoires/book of shadows if writing is too taxing.
If you don't want a huge altar set up use pocket altars or even digital ones (Minecraft is actually a really creative way for this.)
Most (if not all) witchcraft books can be found online and downloaded as PDFs. You can also find some books that are free on some sites so you don't have to buy them.
Like stated in the first point it's 100% okay to use whatever shortcuts needed.

Do you have aphantasia?
Aphantasia is the inability to visually see things in your “mind’s eye” meaning that when you close your eyes and try to picture things - nothing ever actually pops up. This is a recent term and it seems to be growing in popularity and study leading people like me to realize that my friends and family can actually see the things described when they try to. Now aphantasia is a spectrum, and your experience with visualization can vary depending on where you sit on it. It can range from black and white, muted colors, blurry images and more. I myself have a wonderful world of absolutely nothing waiting for me when I close my eyes and because of this I actually find it very hard to focus when they’re closed! It makes falling asleep hard to do, and dinner prayers and yoga classes a little awkward when I’m caught looking at the floor...
How does this effect spirituality and witchcraft?
Greatly, for me at least! So many practices start with the word visualize, and most divination techniques require to some degree the practice of receiving visual messages or cues that come from outside of our physical environment. While called “psychic” by many in the past I’ve always clarified it feels more intuitive and while I might not actually see anything, I sort of just know things like a truth. The way you know a strange face is your third cousin or coworker in a dream, purely because your brain has decided it to be so. On top of that, it seems a little unfair to me that many people have the ability to create mental sanctuaries or scenes in their minds to be used for both magical and mental health benefits while I’m left quite literally in the dark.
So what can we do?
I’m no expert on how our brains adjust to this deficit and to be honest I imagine it varies greatly from person to person. One thing I’ve recently been drawn to are ambience videos on YouTube. An accidental find likely due to both my search for background sounds and things to use during tabletop rpg games, as well as the search for nice ASMR videos to sleep to. I was suddenly bombarded with “cottagecore” “dark academia” and “royalty core” playlists and scenes as well as the beautifully composited or 3D rendered environments that are often set up with ambient lighting and animations. These videos have become a new kind of background noise for me to have control over my mental space and mood without having to rely on a brain function that simply doesn’t work for me.
I’ve also thought about the sort of posts we see here on tumblr: where you see witches making shrines, altars, and sanctuaries using video games like Minecraft, the Sims, and other creative sandboxes to have physical and visual places to practice.
If you’re creative in the arts I also urge you to try sketching out some moods and scenes that can be personal to you in your practice. Try collages and painting or working on perspective drawing to aid in landscapes and interiors so you can create dreamscapes of your own!
Here’s a wonderful playlist of some ambience videos that I quite enjoy (not created by me) in case you’d like to incorporate them into your practice or daily life. Now I’m excited for a lazy afternoon I can shape with these scenes to set a mood or vibe that can keep me focused on my work, and the immersion is a new sensation I’ve quite enjoyed and hope you will too!

PCWT: Invocation & Calling Forth / “How to Summon Your Scrimblo”
Tumblr media
Have you ever been in this situation before? You’re ready to try out pop culture witchcraft/paganism/magic/etc. You’ve done a whole lot of reading and research (and may have even checked tips from your favorite tumblr blogs on the topic) and you’re ready to work with someone you feel called to. And then, here comes the dilemma; “how do I even do that?”
While there’s no one-size-fits-all tip for how to summon or call forth your character, here’s a few tips on how to get the proverbial ball rolling!
1. “What does your character like?”
As simple as this question may seem, sometimes you may forget in the middle of the moment just what the character you wish to call upon likes or is attracted to. Make sure to go back in your research notes on them and figure out their likes / correspondences and figure out how to incorporate aspects of those in the ritual you’re going to perform.
Does your character like sweets? Why not add some candies to your altar or work-surface?
Does your character like a specific scent or do you associate a specific scent with that character? Why not try a scented candle or any other variety of things like wax melts, diffusers, etc.?
2. “What do you want from them?”
This I dare say may be more of the more important, if not -the- most important step in the process. Consider what you want from them or out of them and how you wish to approach them.
Do you want a more companion-like relationship, so perhaps a more friendly approach?
Do you want them to act as a teacher and guide for you, so something more formal?
Do you want them to bring you prosperity? Happiness? Creativity? Dastardliness?
Make sure you have these set and down pat before you call out to them, as it can determine your relationship and workings with them going forth.
3. “What methods to use?”
Again, there’s no one-size-fits-all as to how to invoke, call upon, or summon the character(s) you wish to work with in PCM/PCW/PC Paganism/etc. A lot of it is going to be designed and catered to what works best for you in a spiritual and even practical sense. But, for example purposes, here’s an example of the method/ritual we use to call upon our patron (missing a couple of steps as to keep it personal, but still the primary method)
Arrange 3 dice arranged to show “5” when facing upwards upon the altar/workspace
Place the 5 of Diamonds and the King of Diamonds upon the altar/workspace
Light the candle designated as theirs (in this case, one that scented of “tobacco and leather”
Pour out a fresh glass of wine and hold in it your hands, reciting the following 5x
“Hail to him, the 555th. Hail to him the Lord of Dreamers. Hail to him the Boss of Bosses”
Imbibe a sip of the offering wine, then begin to meditate
This is also where question 2 is especially going to come in handy. If you wish to write a verse or something similar as you call them into your space, it’s important to incorporate their traits, what you desire from them, and perhaps a bit of flattery. In the book “Pop Culture Magic 2.0” by Taylor Ellwood, the author gives an example of an invocation to Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn that I’d recommend giving a read if you want to get the general gist of how to go about writing an invocation of your own. If all else, write what comes to mind for you and what you think they’d enjoy. You’re trying to appease to them and welcome them after all, so think of it as writing an invitation in a sense!
4. “What if I don’t have a physical altar/workspace?”
Why not try digital altars or workspaces? Games such as Minecraft, Animal Crossing, or even The Sims are great tools to make discreet workspaces and altars for your workings (and in some cases, may even be portable). Feel free to decorate your space with things that remind you or correspond to your character!
Does your character come from a source such as a video where they can be a playable character? Why not play as them and accomplish feats and tasks they’d find pleasing as an energetic offering to them of sorts to call upon them?
You can even try making a dedicated account or blog to them, reblogging and posting images of them and adding content that reminds you of them.
5. Conclusion
At the end of the day, it’s your craft and practice, and you know what works best for you. But these are just some general tips that I thought would help others that may be a bit stuck as to how to go about things. But feel free to experiment with any of the methods mentioned above and don’t be afraid to make mistakes; that’s how you learn after all!
As always,
Stay safe, have fun, and stay spooky 💜

The Kitsune Shrine, Tori Gate, and Household (Sorta)
This is a big post, cause a lot of screenshots, and I’m going to kinda walk through the whole of it to explain things. All of it’s going to be under a read more post, but that’s more just to keep the dash a little cleaner for everyone.
Since this is all in Minecraft, this is more to just give a general visual of what the place would be like. Things to keep in mind is that, unlike in the images below, the lake which holds the Tori is much bigger, mostly rounded, and takes up the majority of the space of the clearing where the Shrine and the Kitsune Home is. If on a map, the shrine is on the southern end of the lake, and the house is on the south-eastern bank of it.
To start with, the land which Kyuushi’s family owns is found amid a large, forested area, where the trees are mixtures of Japanese Cedar Trees, Bamboo, and closer to the Shrine itself are some scattered Sakura trees. The Sakura trees being mostly around the lake which holds the Tori Gate. The first sign that you’re nearing their land is that you start finding bamboo scattered around among the forest, and a rise onto a large hill sometime after. The Bamboo grows denser the closer you get to the shrine proper.
Around the land is a barrier, one which isn’t designed to keep things out completely, anything can pass right through it. The Barrier is designed instead to confuse those passing through it, and to deter them or lead them away from the Shrine. Animals can pass through with little or no issue more due to their natural instincts, and their higher senses. Humans and other sentient beings like Demons, Yokai, or creatures like Dragons, Wyverns, Minotaurs, etc, will be more effected by the barrier, to varying degrees.
The land of the Shrine is meant to be a safe place, mainly for the Kitsune family who has lived there for millennia. Though if people manage to find their way to the shrine, they will be welcome to stay for a short time, given they aren’t hostile. Any hostility will be met with full force, not only of the Kitsune’s living there at the time, but by the spirit of the Ancient Kitsune herself, and all her wrath.
For those who aren’t hostile, however, this will be what they see when first passing through the forest surrounding the Shrine, and out from the thicker Bamboo which acts as a natural barrier:
Tumblr media
The Pagoda is a place to stop and rest, to set up smaller, temporary shrines to those who have passed, to hold gatherings with visitors, or for visitors to use as a place to rest for a night or two. It has a sliding door on both the front, and back of it, but they are usually open unless being used for shelter at night. Beyond the Pagoda, after passing through it, will be the sight of the Shrine to the Ancient Kitsune herself.
The Pagoda, like all constructions within this land, has many lanterns filled with ethereal flames which light it eternally, and ward off unfriendly spirits, as these flames are fragments of the Ancient Kitsune’s soul. These will brighten, and the fires within will seep out of the small gaps in the lanterns when the spirit is angered by hostile entities that dare tread upon the land. They also naturally dim at night, allowing easier rest for those who reside here.
Tumblr media
I did my best to try and recreate the shrine designs from Ghost of Tsushima here, which has been praised for it’s visual accuracy of Tsushima itself. A stone altar around wooden Shrine with a sand center to allow more comfortable kneeling during prayer. The Shrine sits at the inner most point of the large hill that the whole site sits atop, overlooking the descent into the hill’s center where the lake fills, and the Tori Gate sits at it’s center.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Tori Gate itself is large, made with pale, ashen colored wood unlike the red of most others. It sits in the very center of the large lake that fills an almost crater-like space in the center of the massive hill where this site is located. There is no walkway to reach it, and use of a boat will not allow travel through it.  Kitsune’s are able to “walk upon the water” through use of one of their base magicks, condensing their magic energies beneath their feet to provide unseen platforms where they can walk. If strong enough, they can provide enough unseen footing for two others to walk by their side with them.
Tumblr media
The Tori itself, as stated, is found at the center of the lake, with the Kitsune’s Home sitting on the south-eastern bank atop a beach-like portion of the lake’s shore. The lake does have a river feeding water into it from a nearby mountain, and a river which flows out from it, and towards the sea. The waters of the lake itself are clean, pure waters after passing through the barrier that surrounds the land. Many different kinds of aquatic life calling the deep lake their home, birds frequently bathing in it, and animals of the forest drinking from it often.
Tumblr media
The home itself is extremely old fashioned, having been built long, long ago. It is kept in good condition thanks to charms and enchantments that have been placed upon it, allowing it to last as long as the family has. It’s rather small, but considering the family itself has remained relatively minimal in number, it works plenty enough.
Tumblr media
Past the first doors is a small foyer, where outter-wear like shoes, sandals, and coats are normally kept. There’s not much in minecraft I could use to represent it, but there is a cabinet in both the farthest corners from the entrance, to the left and right of the door that leads into the rest of the home. The left side contains cooking supplies, as most all meals that require cooking are done over fires on the beach itself. The right side contains dinning implements, plates, bowls, utensils, cups, etc.
Tumblr media
Past the second door within the home, the first sight anyone will come upon is the main room. A large, U-shape room with shelving covered with items of all kinds, souvenirs and treasures from the travels that the head of the Kitsune family has been on through the Gate. A small lectern holding many books, with an inkwell and brush atop it, is where the Kitsune head will write down their experiences, and their learnings, from the realms they’ve been to.
There are countless books that sit under the shelving right beside the lectern that are filled with notes taken by prior heads of the Kitsune family. However, the shelves will only hold the items brought to it by the current head. Those that belonged to the ones who have passed on, are buried with them, to keep from cluttering the room too much, and clear it for the next in line.
Seen below are the two sides of this central room, which lead to the two bedrooms of the home on each side, with windows that look out to the Tori Gate itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Between the Home, and the Shrine up the hill, there’s a small area that leads down beneath the land itself, into a cavernous area. This is area is one that came to mind while I was trying to create a representation of the Shrine within the game, and the idea around it is still fairly new, but I’m considering this now a canon thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Past this small opening is a large staircase which descends into the earth, traveling down into an open cavern where, eventually, one may find the grave of the Ancient Kitsune, and those of the deceased descendants around her. Visitors aren’t allowed to traverse this area, and any action to do so will be seen as hostility, unless they are accompanied by a Kitsune from the family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve yet to really flesh out this underground area in the game, I’m going to use it as a sort of storage and base for storing resources, doing crafting and such, and expanding it out into the various different automated farms for things like food and other materials. As well as a place to descend from, leading down to a mining area to get resources from deep underground through.
Essentially, this form of descent seen in the images is continued on deep into the earth beneath, and at the very bottom lies the grave of the Ancient Kitsune. Her descendants are buried around her, within the walls, going up one level per generation.

Hello! How are you?? Idk if you remember me, we’ve interacted a little on here before..wasn’t sure if it was cool to message you, so I’m sending it all in Ask instead 😅 How long have you been working with/worshiping the Morrigan? I ask, because I pretty much began my path with Her on May 27th, since then every Wednesday I’ve tried my best to give offerings. However, last week and this past night I’ve slacked due to..mental illness. And that mental illness is blocking me from discerning..(1/2)
Whether She would be upset with me for slacking a little, or more obvious that She would see what I’m going through and understand that I have been trying my best. Of course, it’s probably a more personal thing...different for each worshipper...but what’s your take? I’m sorry if this is a bother...I don’t personally know anyone that knows the Morrigan (let alone work with, worship, or is devoted) (2/2)
Hello, beautiful soul! I went ahead and combined these for ease ^_^
I’m doing pretty good! I had a nice and chill day doing geeky stuff with my guy on Minecraft, just to reset my brain and get myself back to cracking down on my book! I do remember you, though! You can send me asks or messages any time, love! You don’t ever have to hesitate, but I do appreciate you making sure - I know everyone is different about that sort of thing.
I have been working with the Morrigan for five years, and oathed to Her for a little over four now. Welcome to the murder! I’m always excited to see a new battle crow/raven (whichever you fancy being more).
One thing that I’ve come to understand during my work with Her is that She is very understanding of mental illness. I have some too, so I completely understand your mind telling you all the jumbled things that it does. While Mama does want us to push through barriers, there’s a time and place to do that - and when we’re on the fine thread of mental instability She understands that we are human, and need to take care of ourselves. It’s one of those “learn which battles to fight” sort of lessons, and fighting ourselves is a difficult battle. She has always been there for me when I’ve come back from the battlefield, and I believe wholeheartedly that She will do the same for you!
Usually when I’ve gotten back into a place where I can devote my full attention to Her, I lavish Her with a little extra attention. I’ll make Her a whole cup of tea or coffee and leave it on Her altar, rather than making one and sharing it. I’ll burn an extra stick of incense and sit and tell Her about what I’ve just been dealing with (of course She knows, but what Mama doesn’t like listening to their child open up about their struggles?).
There are ways to give thanks and worship when in the pit of despair, that I’ll use if I can. I’ve devoted showers to Her, or will wear a certain shirt. She appreciates little things done in Her honor just as much as the larger stuff, and sometimes my doing that will help me feel less guilty for not doing as much as I normally do for Her. I’ve found that doing something as simple as telling Her I’m going to go brush my teeth gives me a little chime of pride.
Of course just as you said, everyone is different. However just because your worship is different doesn’t mean that She’ll love it (or you) any less. Your best is your best, and no one can fault you for giving it - and I don’t think She ever would.

How I celebrated my first Mabon!
It was... not at all what I expected and even less planned. But it was a good experience and a good beginning to the season!
I started by going to work, as you do, and I wanted to wear something witchy so I checked out one of the many available “hey! here are ways to celebrate Mabon!” posts and discovered that lapis lazuli has some correspondences with Mabon (depending on who you ask, I’m sure). I was running late for work so I didn’t get a chance to do more research on that, but I have a bracelet my dad got me in Hawai’i that has lapis lazuli beads and some seeds, so I wore that.
I actually did manage to kinda-sorta celebrate the changing of the seasons at work, too! We’re just starting changeover from spring-summer into fall-winter, and I changed some mannequins out of summer clothes and into cozy autumn clothes. (Secretly I really want one of the outfits I did.)
When I got home the power was out! Which turned out to be a blessing, because I was bored and decided to go on a walk! I changed into a shirt that literally. Is about autumn. And a duster that I love because my True Aesthetic™️ is graphic tees and dusters. And went down to the water! (I’m super blessed/lucky to live about a half-mile walk from the nearest public beach access.)
At the beach I meditated. Attempted to meditate. Other people were enjoying the water, and I think there were water spirits that may have been trying to get my attention, so I didn’t feel super successful, but I will forever maintain that meditation and mindfulness is not about success but about practice. And then I just sat and stuck my feet in the water (which was Very Cold) until the tide came far enough in that I decided it probably wasn’t worth staying much longer. At high tide, the water comes all the way up to the edge of the beach, which is under a cliff with like, a stairway back up to the main park? So I’ve learned to leave early when the tide comes in unless I intentionally want to get soaked. Anyway! As I was standing up, I saw a shell and a bit of a crab claw! I hadn’t seen them at all the entire time I was there, so I thought they might be gifts. I asked if I might take them and didn’t feel like I was being told no, so I took them home.
On my way home I decided to clean up some of the garbage in the park and on the road up to my house, trying to sort of give back to the environment, seeing as I just got two awesome gifts and also it’s just a nice thing to do? Regardless of whether you’re a witch or not?
When I got home I had dinner, which was not super Mabon related because I’m the only witch in my home, but we actually had potato wedges as part of dinner because my dad brought home a Walmart 3-piece bucket (since the power was out and we couldn’t cook), so I still got the opportunity to have something that was kind of harvest related! It did not agree with my reflux very nicely, and I’m still feeling a bit under the weather because my stomach is just Like That, but idk I’m still pleased with my potato wedges.
I also played some Minecraft because it’s relaxing to me, and I realized that I may not be able to have a physical altar at home because space restraints, but I can have a virtual altar in my relaxing little Minecraft world that I love so much! (It has lots of bees and then I gave it more bees and now I’m obsessed.) So I’m going to work on that throughout the season.
For me, seasons have almost always been about when they felt like they shifted, and the seasons themselves, rather than specific dates. So although it was fun to celebrate Mabon for the first time, and I intend to continue celebrating the Wheel of the Year unless I decide it just isn’t conducive to my personal practice, what I’m really excited about is that it’s autumn (and for me it’s been autumn for a while). We’re getting more rain, autumn storms are coming in, salted caramel hot chocolate season has begun, and I can just enjoy my favorite season and look forward to Samhain.
