Chaewon waves his hand. “He won’t be her obstacle.” Chaewon makes this statement as he looks between Hwan and Princess Jiu. They are locked in a nonverbal argument. Princess Jiu’s eyes are two pools of pure pleading. On the other hand, Hwan’s eyes are frozen and nowhere close to melting, giving up under her stare.

Hwan moves around the table to stand next to the lady. Old as a mother. With fine lines and few grey hairs. “Who?”
The waitress walks away from the men’s table who returns to another conversation and Hwan follows her. She tucks her tray under her arm as she pulls out a chair at an empty table. “He is the owner of this teahouse. I can arrange for you to meet him.”

“I’ll be doing it with you.” Princess Jiu’s words slip out without any thought. “You will watch over me. You will protect me. I won’t be in danger and I cannot feel...” Say it. Jiu, say it.
“Useless?” Hwan says, taking Princess Jiu for a spin. She nods. “You’ve been the biggest help in finding Hanuel. I know you. I know you protected her the most you could...” Hwan looks down to his shoes. “So you can’t come-”
“Hwan!” Princess Jiu steps forward with her hands out. Out to do something she doesn’t know. Stop him?
Hwan holds up his hand. “Let me finish, princess.” Princess Jiu lowers her hands, awkwardly and zips her mouth shut. “You can’t come without somebody to be an extra eyes on you because, princess...” Hwan steps close. “You’re a handful.” But nothing I can’t handle. Princess Jiu scoffs and steps away, blushing at his words. Are they a compliment? It made her insides twist a little. “And I can’t juggle watching over a princess and finding valuable information on Hanuel’s whereabouts.”

Princess Jiu chuckles. “He should be fine, right?” The wind whips around her hair and her clothes.
“Sure.” Chaewon says as he looks back and sees Seojoon, doing okay. “You took all of my credit.”
“I did and I’m sorry. Thank you by the way.”
“For what? Teaching the doctor how to stop a horse?”
“Yes and for that time in the market.”
“Ah. It’s part of my job.”
“And for that time at the party-”
“If you’re going to thank me for every time, then I need to get paid more, Princess Baek.” Chaewon says this as a joke and he is glad that Princess Jiu laughs.
