Favorite Mistoffelees ship? Both 1998 and 2019

I can't pick one favourite as I have a few and it really depends on my mood who I'm thinking about more but I'll go over my favourites.

Stage Misto ships

Tuggoffelees: The classic, its popular for a reason and I love their contrasting personalities. I love Tugger hyping Misto up so much and Misto being this cute quiet sassy little guy around him. Its really cute. I also love Tugger being the overly emotional one and Misto rarely showing strong emotions (its not that he doesnt feel as much its just his face doesnt always match how he feels). Tugger will always be there to encouraged and comfort and defend Misto and Misto is the same towards him. They compliment each other really well and have lots of cute moments in canon.

Munkoffelees: its no secret I absolutely love these two. Not as popular as other ships but I really adore them. I love when they get to work together during Jennys and Bustophers songs. It's like Misto is being a good helper and wanting to impress him, or they feel like they're on the same page like a proper couple working together. Mistos quietness fits with Munk well but he can also be playful and sassy and bring out a different side in Munk. I also think Munk would always be an amazing partner and so he can care and help Misto through his shyness and when he gets overstimulated. I'm not saying other ships wouldn't do this and do this very nicely too. I just love how kind and loving Munk is and I love to see him be like that towards someone like Misto.

Mistojerrie: I love these two together because you can get even more trickery from them. Misto is a secret prankster and if the two work together you know Jerrie will always get the sole blame (Misto is just too innocent and cute looking). But I can see them having a lot of fun together. But also there's this sweet humbleness I see in Jerrie that I think could be really cute paired with Misto. And him learning how to be in a relationship, as I like to see him as kind of inexperienced. Also learning about Mistos autism and in turn Misto learns about his dyslexia and helping him see himself as a good boyfriend as Jerrie can be insecure.

Also special shout out to my favourite throuple with Misto x Jerrie x Munk. I think all their personalities work wonderfully together. But also loving Tugger x Misto x Munk more these days too.

2019 Misto

It's really just the main two, Victoria and Munkustrap. I've never really shipped this Misto with this versions Tugger much at all, they just don't have many moments together and I'm just so so happy to have a version where Misto and Munk can be seen as the main gay ship. I'm happy Munk got to sing some of Mistos song but I would have died to see Munk sing all of Mistos song like Tugger does. But Munk and Vic having their moments to sing to Misto and encourage him are still adorable. I absolutely love those two being his comfort and his biggest supporters. Especially with this Jellicle tribe being more harsh to Misto. He just needs love and appreciation with his two mates 🥺

Because I’m gonna take this as an opportunity to continue The Dog Short

(It’s not terribly long, and turned into a bit more of a Munkustrap study rather than entirely Mistoriastraps, so apologies for that!)

Mistoffelees had joined the tribe when Munkustrap was a young kitten.

He was a little shadow of a thing, shyer than any cat Munkustrap had ever known, but for as shy as he was, Mistoffelees was equally as sweet. He was cautiously curious, trailing after Munkustrap as he hung out with Cassandra, Demeter, and Tugger.

When they began to get to know one another more, and began to grow closer as best friends, Munkustrap stumbled upon Mistoffelees one morning, the younger tom curled in the corner of the Egyptian, watching everyone else interact.

Munkustrap slowly sat down beside him, nudging his shoulder. “You alright, Misto?”

“I’ve never had anything like this before.” Mistoffelees said softly. Munkustrap let out a questioning hum. “A family like this. I don’t… understand it, exactly.”

“What do you mean?”

Mistoffelees let out a breath. “You all just care about each other so much. The only people I ever really cared about were my parents, but they’re gone now.” Munkustrap moved closer to Mistoffelees, wrapping an arm around him and hugging him close. “I can’t lose you too.”

“You won’t, Misto.” Munkustrap replied. “I will always be with you.”

Munkustrap didn’t break his promise.

Over the following years, Munkustrap and Mistoffelees were inseparable. Even after Grizabella and Bombalurina left with Macavity, even after Tugger showed up with two sets of twins whose parents were former henchcats of Macavity. They were attached at the hip, even after Munkustrap was named Old Deuteronomy’s successor, and his duties increased.

The day of The Incident, Munkustrap and Mistoffelees were roaming around the city together, checking in on each of the hopeful Choices.

And then they had met her.

She was lovely, and quiet, and curious, and oh how it reminded Munkustrap of Mistoffelees when they first met.

Watching the two cats he had come to care so dearly for so quickly warmed the Protector’s heart, and he spent the majority of Jennyanydots and Bustopher’s songs watching the two interact.

But Munkustrap hadn’t been paying attention.

He hadn’t thought to keep an eye on Victoria during the rush away from Macavity after he had shown up during Bustopher’s song.

They all congregated back at The Egyptian, and that was when Munkustrap was panicking. It was alright, though, because Mistoffelees had gone after Victoria, and he knew that Mistoffelees would get her back safely.

When he heard running footsteps, his anxieties faded away, and Munkustrap turned with a smile as he spotted Victoria running towards him. His smile faded when he saw the horror-filled look on her face, and he stepped forward, opening his arms to catch her as she stumbled.

The rest of the evening was a blur, and all Munkustrap could remember was the feeling of Mistoffelees’ gasping breaths as he turned a pained smile on Munkustrap and Cassandra, bidding them a soft, loving farewell as he breathed his last.

Years later, after Munkustrap’s fur had turned even grayer, after he and Victoria danced at their own Ball, after he fathered a litter of kittens as curious and sweet as their parents, it was his turn to be Chosen to go to the Heaviside Layer.

Victoria had pulled him close, their tears falling as hard as they had when Mistoffelees had left them. “Say hello to him for me, will you?”

Munkustrap let out a shaky laugh, nodding. “I’ll give him your love.”

He had gone to the Layer with nervousness in his stomach, wondering what his beloved friend would say, what he would say to him.

As the lights had faded and the ache disappeared from his bones, Munkustrap opened his eyes to find himself meeting the gaze of the cat he had missed with his entire being for far too long. The warmest smile the grey tom had ever seen on the other cat’s face. He couldn’t hold himself back, and rushed forward, throwing his arms around the magician and hugging him as tightly as he could. Mistoffelees laughed, and hugged him back, just as fiercely.

It seemed as though they hadn’t broken their promise to one another, after all.

Okay headcanos under the tag sense it's a long post like Skimbles!

Misto likes to take nap literally curled on top of Munku. He even got Victoria to do it. Munku eventual ends up carefully drooping them beside him and cuddling with them.

Misto sometimes has moment where he really pulls away from the other (even Munkustrap and Victoria). It can last between weeks or a month. He just doesn't feel like a jelical in those times and feels like he should stay away.

When Misto gets excited and happy about something he bounces on his feet. He also sometimes swings his hands with Vic and Munku as an alternative.

Misto never gets angry. He gets more frustrated than anything. When he does get angry it comes out in one shout and he always covers his mouths and looks like he's going to cry as he apologizes

Misto lives in a magicians house. His owner hasn't made it yet and they share a small apartment. He doesn't have much and he quite likes it that way.

Misto has loved Munkustrap sense the tux was a kitten. He thought it would turn out to just be a little one and would go away. He made himself move on with Victoria. He did really love Vic. She was the one to ask about Munku.

Misto is Bustpher's nephew. That is all he knows and really alll he care about

Misto is friends with most of the other cats. Except for Tugger and Mungo and Rumple

Miisto has a habit/quirk to fiddling with his fingers when he doesn't have anything in his hands. He drums them on his thighs or pulls with one of his loves fingers.

He likes red roses. He like showing people his trick espically Victoria and Munkustrap.

He dislikes Tugger. He dislikes his paws being sticky as well.

He grew up around the jellical. While he had been with his human sense he was old enough to leave his mother. As a kid he was very close to Munku and while he was part of the tribe Macavity

Misto is a bit scared of aging as he isn't sure he'd be able to go to the heavyside layer. He just doesn't feel like he stands out enough.

Misto somtimes summons human food for him and his mates

Misto like to look as dapper as he can. Making sure his fur is straight and his clothes. Also he never leaves without his hat

Ok so I just had a shower thought moment and I absolutley love and hate myself for coming up with this.

So for the 2019 movie I am all aboard the S.S. Mistoriastrap because cuddles and love and wholesomeness. But thanks to the amazing @uppastthejelliclemoon I have also gotten really into the whole misto and Tugger are ex boyfriends idea. So I was humming in the shower and I started to sing Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man” and I had a heartbreaking thought...

Misto became attracted to Tugger intitally because of his bad boy can’t be contained attitude and Tugger was attracted to the wonder of misto’s magic. They really did have shared feelings for each other, but the problem was that Tugger thought that he could just keep acting the way he always did and everything would be fine. But the thing about tuggers natural playboy attitude is that it draws cats in, but makes it very difficult to keep them close to him due to the constant fear of him leaving them because he gets sidetracked a lot and sometimes forgets to spend time with them leave them alone for days at a time or suffocating them with too much attention creating a endless cycle of confusion. For the anxious and self deprecating Mistoffelees this was a nightmare and eventually he just couldn’t stand it anymore and broke up with Tugger. Tugger never truly understood what he had done wrong... until he saw how Victoria and Munkustrap treated Mistoffelees. They bring him flowers and talk to him whenever they have the chance. They would always find time to spend with him to just talk or cuddle and not seek him out to simply have a little fun. They took him with them wherever they went and if misto wanted time to be alone they granted it without questioning. They comforted him and made it very clear that he was wanted and appreciated and trusted. And soon Tugger realized what he had done wrong.

He had been trying to prove to that he was worthy of Misto, when he had needed to prove that Misto was worthy of him. Upon this realization Tugger comes to terms with how happy Misto is now and resolves to leave him be and let him enjoy this newfound love, but not before singing a quiet emotional ballad of his own while watching the happy trio...

so as you obviously know i have MANY fics about them getting back together, but here's the basic idea for the timeline where they do get back together!!! (aka not the mistoriastraps timeline)

so, obviously, post-Ball, Tugger goes to check on Mistoffelees, because it was his first big display of magic, and past history or not, Misto's his favorite person, so Tugger has to make sure he's okay. Misto is absolutely touched Tugger comes to talk to him, and they sit and make small talk for a few minutes, until there's a bit of an awkward air. Tugger goes off, and leaves Misto all :(

i imagine at this point, they've both reconciled with each other after The Fight, but in an "i understand why you said what you said, it hurt, i'm sorry for what i said, you're still my best friend" way, not an "let's get back together" way, though they both want that

meanwhile, Tugger is so so proud of Misto, but also he's now being Insecure and all "oh he's so confident now, and everyone's realized what i've known, so obviously i've got no chance of getting him back"

meanwhile Misto is Yearning for his Maybe while Tugger is Pining for his Buttons

i have a hc where there's a bad winter soon after the Ball (which supports my regular hc that the Ball is in December on the Winter Solstice), and the Egyptian gets snowed in. and bc i can't resist tropes... Tugger finds Misto, and immediately offers to snuggle for warmth

there's a moment where Tugger starts backtracking, before Misto's tugging him to sit beside him, and they just cuddle together.

and it's quiet, and neither really says anything, because they're both realizing how much they've missed holding each other and being in each other's presence, but both of them are scared to admit that they still love the other because they think they'll get rejected

the morning after the snowstorm, they have a moment where Tugger gives Misto a bittersweet little smile, kisses his cheek, and says he's missed him before going off to help clear out the snow by the entrance.

and that's when Misto decides that okay, he's done being scared, and when the snow clearing is done, he grabs Tugger by the arm and drags him off to one of the backstage rooms, sits down on the floor with him, and says "we need to talk"

Tugger PANICS but Misto just starts pouring out his heart, saying everything he's wanted to say since their breakup, and pauses to take a break after word vomiting, and Tugger picks up where he left off, opening up and doing the same

by the end of it, they're both slightly delirious with happiness, giggling hysterically as they cuddle together in the secluded room, poking fun at each other and gently teasing, as if no time has passed

the tribe only finds out when Cassandra realizes that Tugger and Misot have started calling each other "Buttons" and "Maybe" again

OK, here's my Mistoriastrap headcanons that are also part of my fic which I need to post once I find time to translate it.

- Munkustrap really wants Victoria and Misto's relationship to work, but he's afraid that Misto is still too young and inexperienced in many aspects. Yet Munkustrap supports them all the time.

- Munkustrap was Mistoffelees first crush and nobody knows about it.

- Mistoffelees yearns for intimacy, but fears it, because the previous cat he mated with left him heart broken and insecure.

- When he finally tells Victoria about this, she comforts him and tells him that she loves him the way he is and she would always accept whatever he is willing to give

- Victoria is very attracted to Munkustrap and feels guilty until she talks it through with Mistoffelees.

- When the trio figures out they can actually be a polyamorous family, everything finally works for everyone, because they all feel loved and supported.
