the responses i’ve seen to shiv’s ending seem very quick to write her off as just another sad victim of the cycle, which isn’t without truth BUT!!! that is not even remotely the summation of shiv’s story.
i don’t think she votes yes to “save kendall” or to try to finally set her brothers free. and i don’t think her main concern was that ken was becoming their dad. she absolutely noticed and didn’t love it, but that was not her motivation in betraying him. she was thinking about herself.
Tumblr media
it’s tempting to make a martyr out of her as she is the only female child and we see her suffer the onslaught of misogyny that comes with that. but to make her into a saintlike figure who got beat takes away the power and intelligence behind her decision.
at this point she’s stuck between two non ideal choices, but she recognizes that they have accidentally made her the single most important player in the game. because while she can’t have the outcome she’d prefer, she has the power to decide the fates of everyone else. the written off lone woman now holds in her hands the fate of every man in her life.
so she thinks about the long term benefits of both options and realizes that one side leaves her completely without any leverage.
Tumblr media
her brothers have proven to her multiple times in the last few days alone that they will cut her out and walk all over her the first chance they get. siding with them leaves her nothing to bargain with. she would just have to hope that ken would actually take care of her. and that level of vulnerability is not only unacceptable to her, it’s stupid. and shiv fuckin roy is not stupid.
so she thinks about the other side and about what she actually wants for her life. and against her better judgment, it’s becomes unfortunately clear that she wants tom. the way she wants him is not altogether loving or even good but it is necessary to her. she sees relationships as having winners and losers and she chose this man specifically so that she could be confident in her ability to win. except now he’s grown some balls and made himself unavailable to her.
Tumblr media
she may not like the way her husband is evolving but she already placed her bets on him, so she’s sure as hell not losing to him now. there’s also a part of her that feels intrigued by this new man she’s married to. it’s interesting to have a sparring partner in him instead of having to looking for excitement outside of their marriage.
Tumblr media
so for maybe the first time ever, she processes what tom has said to her and thinks about what he actually wants.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he needs her to prove that she cares. he needs to know that she is capable of sacrifice. if she can’t find it within herself to do this for him, then she will lose him, and by extension, she will lose.
siding with tom gives her the opportunity to once and for all make a grand-stand gesture of love, but more importantly, it creates leverage for her. never again will he be able to hold the moral high ground over her head. never again can he say she doesn’t love him. never again can he call her selfish or uncaring. above all, he can never betray her again, because she just removed all of his moral justification for turning on her. he doesn’t realize it yet, but she’s just taken back all the power in their relationship. just in a more subtle way than she’s used to operating.
and just like that, she has the ceo of a multi billion dollar company in her pocket, while situating herself as the only descendant of logan roy to still be playing the game, having removed her brothers from the equation permanently. she may still be far from the top but she’s creating a path for herself to climb.
so yes, she’ll let tom play king for a day, and she’ll have his baby and say “congratulations,” and play the gracious wife, but tomorrow is a new day with lots of room to maneuver. and when her husband puts out his hand, she’ll place her own on top. but she won’t grasp it because she doesn’t need to.

…so can you expand on the psychological ramifications of stewy being in private equity? that has definitely been lost on me given that i barely understand what private equity is
ok this is an underrated funny aspect of the show imo, and also good insight into stewy and kendall. i'm trying to spare you a bunch of stupid business jargon but basically, maesbury capital (which stewy represents but sandy/sandi ultimately own) is a private equity fund, meaning it's a big pile of a bunch of rich people's money, and stewy's job is to take that money and invest in private companies. a PE fund can invest at a few different points: at the very beginning of a startup's life (venture or angel investing), at a point where the company is trying to grow or restructure (growth investing), or when a company is struggling financially, in which case the fund is usually planning to either dismantle it and sell it for scrap, restructure and go public, or sell it for cash to another company. PE firms like to present themselves as doing a lot of growth or venture investing, but in truth many/most are primarily engaging in this third category of investment strategies, because they're lucrative (and because many startups are stupid, and only good for generating investor payouts).
so, when kendall went and dismantled vaulter in season 2 because logan decided that selling most of it for scrap would be more profitable? that's basically a dramatisation of what stewy does routinely, except of course the exact financial instruments and strategies will differ because stewy represents a PE firm. like, if kendall's venture capitalist schemes tell us about his delusions of creating cool new products and services, stewy is sort of the opposite because his structural goal is usually to dismantle companies and liquidate them however is best for maesbury's backers. it's a total destruction of all use-value and a conversion of it into pure exchange-value in the form of capital (which goes into his pockets and maesbury's). stewy generates money by destroying utility, which is perverse if you think capitalism is supposed to create and sustain human life, but actually completely comprehensible if you understand that capitalism is an insatiable growth machine with inherently contradictory internal tendencies and no raison d'être beyond the endless accumulation of pure capital itself.
many viewers think stewy is insane because he is friends with kendall roy. this is true, but on a deeper level stewy is insane because his job is to participate in the inexorable tendency to more and more abstraction in the capitalist mode of production. it literally does not matter at all to someone like stewy whether people are fed or clothed or happy, or have any of their needs met. the point is solely to create money, to turn all social forms and values into numbers on a balance sheet. this is why, when kendall tries to threaten him on axos at the end of season 2, stewy is able to casually tell him that "it doesn't matter; it doesn't mean anything." he and sandy are convincing shareholders that their offer will be able to make them more money, "and that's all that this is." stewy speaks the language of business differently than logan, because stewy doesn't care about dick-swinging competitions or demonstrating dominance in logan's cringey old catholic military way. which makes stewy more rational in certain ways, but also more insane, in that he operates in a way totally detached from this type of social value system and solely motivated by cold hard numbers.
the irony is that, whilst being detached and disembodied in his business practices, stewy is also better than the roys at appreciating the material fruits of wealth. he eats; he dresses well; he enjoys the "several houses" he owns. kendall is always trying to come up with some grand moral bullshit masculinity reason that what he's doing is noble or whatever, and he's alienated from his body and afflicted with severe catholic martyr disease. stewy just bypasses all that shit, measures his success by his payouts, and enjoys wealth because he sees it as an end in itself and not a means to logan roy's respect.
this is also why kendall's line in 'living+' about "it's enough to make you lose your faith in capitalism" is so funny. kendall can't just accept that business is a bunch of meaningless bullshit confidence games played by coked-up assholes who like to win; he always has to try to convince himself he's making cool new tech shit, or saving the world from the spectre of death itself or some shit. it's like, insane that he made it to literally 40 years old, growing up in a media conglomerate of all things, and still thinks that what he's doing requires actual skill or creates actual social value—but of course, part of the reason he still thinks this is because he deified logan and was therefore incapable of ever seeing logan or waystar for what they really were. stewy would never say that line because he can't be disillusioned this way on account of he already knows the whole thing is bullshit. it's just that to him it doesn't matter, because being bullshit does not preclude it from paying well.

Sup, hi hello I wanna do one of my favorite things which is talk about minor inconsequential details in Sanders Sides writing because I don’t get out much so let’s talk about how the Sanders Sides timeline is even MORE muddled then you thought.
I noticed in the embarrassing phases video that when Logan insults Virgil’s ability it scare the group, saying that him diminishing his costume quality isn’t all that scary, Virgil fires back with “Careful, or itll be Thomas’ girl phase next.” Logan reacts in near disgust, and Thomas makes a remark about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Roman laughs, saying “you were so repressed!”
And Thomas mutters “It was very hard for me!”
However there’s a remark in SVS that directly contradicts this, as a morbid joke or not, and it can spark some interesting theories about what’s yet to come for the series. In the clip, Patton is trying to convince Thomas going to the wedding was the right choice because of all the times Lee and Mary Lee had helped him, giving an example of Mary Lee coming out to give him a jump after his car broke down, and Thomas replies with this remark:
Tumblr media
“And Lee always had my back in high school after I came out”
Thomas specifically says he came out in high school, even if he previously stated he came out at 23. Thomas came out on the internet in 2017, where he would’ve been around 26, so he’s not talking about telling his large audience in either instant. It’s not really important when Thomas actually came out, because Thomas would know when he actually came out. If he’d simply said “school” it could’ve been played off as he came out in college, but he specifically says high school, and like I said, Thomas wouldn’t just forget if he came out in high school because it would’ve been a very different experience from college (or idk I barely remember when I first came out so maybe I’m wiping my ass or smth)
I personally think it would be cool to explore the themes of repression, internalized homophobia, and ultimately coming out in high school in the mid 2000’s would be a cool storyline, specifically for Patton and Janus, Patton because he is Thomas’ moral code and it’s been said Thomas was raised Catholic, and Janus because he would ultimately be the one keeping that secret from Thomas.
Idk if that’s just an overzealous fanfic idea but I just wanted to talk about it. I completely understand if following that storyline would be a bit too uncomfy for Thomas, and I respect that, I’m just throwing my opinions out there because I have no self control. Pls tell me if I was just being stupid and missed smth cause I honestly never know what I’m doing. Ever.
Hope you liked me ranting about a line in a YouTube video but welcome to neurodivergency

One day f1 fans will understand if you go after a driver for his past you better double check your own driver first. Carlos fans going after Pierre fans for his racism only for Pierre fans to bring up Carlos' consistent racism towards Chinese people and black people, Daniel fans for some reason love to go after Charles fans in regards to Charles not kneeling which always turns into Daniel with the N word video going around. Max fans trying to go after Logan for his trump family which is so stupid, why are Max fans pulling up with the "You copy the views of people you grow up with" like Jos Verstappen and the Piquets aren't a constant in Max's life. Lewis fans love to bring up that Max is surrounded by raging racists but fails to mention that Lewis does the same, they're both friends with racists, homophobes, misogynists etc and that's not even including Lewis's multiple cult friends.
It's a rich man's sport if you look for the racism, homophobia, sexism etc you'll find it without even needing to try that hard. We can talk about Toto Wolff trying to act all high and mighty when in reality the company he keeps isn't nice especially when one of them used to be Jos Verstappen before he got backlash for it. Newsflash he's not better than Christian Horner they're both shitty people. We can talk about a large majority of the current grid being anti women, being homophobic etc or we could stop acting like one driver or one team is better than another.
Please stop using racism as a weapon against people you don't like especially when the people you're trying to defend by bringing up racist pasts is also someone with a heavy racist past. This is one of the sports that you can't bring morals into the situation because there's no morals to be found. No driver is going to be perfect and if you think they are then you're incredibly mistaken.

You Do Not Have to be Good - moceit
Tumblr media
Patton hates alcohol. Not particularly for a moral reason, it just tastes godawful to him. But he came to Janus's room for a distraction, and goshdarnit he'll take it. He cringes through a sip as they sit on the floor, and Janus laughs.
"Oh, Patton, it's cider. Barely any alcohol at all, and you can barely stomach even that." As if to prove a point, Janus swings back his bottle and takes a sip so large he gulps audibly. Patton can't help a small giggle, even as bad as he feels.
"Gosh, Jan, I don't know how you and Logan handle this stuff."
"Simple. We're not man-babies."
Patton laughs and lightly punches Janus's shoulder, coaxing the smallest of smiles from the other man. He settles back against the wall. Janus isn't used to guests, aside from one who isn't a fan of sitting 'properly,' so he has no chairs strewn around his room the way the light sides do.
Janus tilts the liquid around in his bottle with a sigh. "Care to tell me what brought you to me today? My room isn't exactly one of our typical 'spots'."
"Oh! Oh, nothing special or anything, just checking up on you," he says, flashing a winning smile.
"How many times are we going to visit each other before you remember you can't lie to me?" Janus states bluntly, not looking at Patton at all, his eyes fixed on the blank wall across from them.
"Whu- uh- lying? I'm not-"
"How many times will I have to say that sentence? You can not follow 'you can't lie to me' up with a lie, Patton, that's not how this works."
"Look I- I don't really want to talk about it. I came to hang out with you, I don't wanna just-"
"So you're going to talk to one of the others then, yes?" Janus's eyes flit over the fading dark blue in Patton's hair. "How about Logan? I'm sure he'd totally be helpful here, I mean, being so good with his emotions."
Patton frowns at him and Janus sighs, rewording. "All I mean is, you don't talk to anyone else, so it stands to reason that if I don't get you to spit it out, you'll keep 'doing your thing' and only ever talking about how you feel at a surface level while letting the pressure below build and build until you blow up. Am I wrong?"
Patton blinks at him, and then turns away, curling his legs up towards his body and squeezing his free hand's nails into his palm. He's taken to doing that lately, though he doesn't know why. Someone says something that hurts, and he digs his nails deep into his skin or bites his lip so hard it bleeds, then the pain is gone. Dig, dig, gone. "That's not very kind, Janus."
Janus shrugs. The sun is beginning to set, and the room is going golden, the dark walls being cast in the shadows of Janus's blinds. "If someone was never anything but kind, they'd be a liar. I don't want to lie to you forever."
"You don't?"
"Oh wow, yeah, sound shocked about that, sure." Janus rolls his eyes, but he doesn't look angry. "Patton, it's stupid to keep going like you are. Look, if anyone can keep secrets, it's you and me - I'm the best one to talk to here. None of the others seem smart enough to notice how messed up you've been."
Patton cringes, and takes a drink of his cider, which makes him cringe harder. "I'm not... that bad, am I? That obvious?"
"It's pretty bad, dad," Janus sighs. He finally looks at the other man, meeting his eyes. "I promise, okay? And I don't do that lightly. I won't speak a word of whatever is bothering you."
Patton's brow furrows, and he breathes out slowly. He digs his nails into his palm again. Breathes again. Just the offer of talking is threatening to bust down year old dams, but perhaps Janus is right, and this needs to happen. And... he did promise. He's never done that before.
"It's not exactly simple to explain... I guess it's just- it's like- I'm-" Patton sighs, frustrated. "I just don't know anymore if- if I'll ever get it right."
"Right?"
"Being morality. Being... good." Patton's voice strains, and he wipes at his face. "I don't know if I can ever be good, be good enough, be good at my job. I've been messing up nearly everything lately! I can't keep Thomas good, and when I do try to keep him good, I end up being an overbearing jerk. I can't seem to make Roman happy, or Virgil anymore, and," Patton plays with the fringe tips of blue in his hair, almost subconsciously, "I can't make Logan feel good either. We used to be so, so close. Worked through all of our issues, we were really good friends! But he's been so- look, I know he says he doesn't feel anything, but I can tell he's feeling something! And he won't tell any of us about it."
Janus drinks, reserving information as he always does. Patton is upset enough, now's not the time.
"All I've ever wanted was to be good," his voice breaks, and he clears his throat, blinking back hot tears. "Ever since I've existed, I've wanted to be good. What would it mean for Thomas if his morality isn't good?! Maybe you were right, I'm just pointing him towards hell. I'm not doing my job right. How can I be messing up so much? I used to be the one who the others looked at to know everything..." He bites his lip hard, but it doesn't do anything this time. He's crying now, wiping the sleeve of his cat hoodie across his face furiously.
"Who says you have to be good?"
"What?"
Janus sighs, sipping his drink. "'You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.' Mary Oliver. Goodness isn't necessary one hundred and twenty-five percent of the time. You're an animal like any other, and you only need do what makes you happy, just like any other. You're not some divine being above the ability to screw up or be sad."
"You and Thomas's religious sensibilities are very tied together. You're stuck on this idea that as morality, you can only ever have good and pure ideas. You can never make mistakes, and you can never be wrong. Look, sure, we're no humans, but you're a piece of a human, and they're kind of renowned for their mistake making. I've told you before, Patton. If you're making a genuine effort to do better, then your apologies mean enough. You've repented. You didn't even need to, but you do anyway. Because you're good, as much as a side can be. You're so good you make me sick sometimes. I was being a dick when I said you're pointing him towards hell, being a dick is kind of my thing. I don't think you're even capable of knowingly being a bad person."
Patton feels tears pour down his face, staring sightlessly at his bottle as Janus rants. He's drawn blood from his lip. The words are making some deep piece of him ache worse than he has in years. Without thinking, he sets his head on Janus's shoulder. Janus barely blinks, leaning into him as he continues.
"You do make the others happy, Patton. They love you so much it's gross. But they have issues as well. Issues that are getting worse as Thomas's mental health is plummeting. All pieces of Thomas have gripes and qualms right now, I don't understand you all's strange insistence on everything being fine. Want me to lie? Everything is just fine! Why, nothing is eating at any of you, and you're at the peak of your lives!" Janus sighs, eyes closing. "It's okay to experience pain, you know. It doesn't make you bad. Nor does making mistakes. It makes you a living thing, as caught up in your own world and worries as every other living thing. You're doing okay, Patton. You'll never be perfect, but I watch you do everything you can every day. For crying out loud, let that soft animal of 'you' catch a break."
Patton sniffs, letting out a shaking sigh. "Why does hearing all that hurt me?"
"Because you've never heard it before, probably. Has anyone, ever, at all, told you to give yourself a break?"
"I... I guess not, not really. I don't know. I don't feel like I deserve it."
"I say you deserve it. If you won't listen to yourself, listen to me. Listen to a... friend."
Patton nearly physically startles at that word coming from Janus. "Friend?"
"If you make me repeat myself we're never having these visits again, watch it."
"We're friends?" Patton lifts his head, grinning despite his tear streaked face. Janus makes a frustrated noise, his face going red, but he lets Patton hug him nonetheless. Patton laughs, despite it all, holding Janus against his chest. The parts of his heart that were aching feel suddenly wrapped in warmth, like a heating pad on a pained muscle. And as Janus sets aside his drink and properly returns the hug, Patton's heart feels so many things, but mostly, at least for now, it feels at peace.
"Are you going to actually give yourself a rest, or did literally all of that go in one ear and out the other?"
Patton laughs. "Thanks, Janus. Really, thank you. Um. Not going to tell anyone still, right?"
"Of course," Janus places a hand on his heart and holds the other up in a pledge. "We both have trouble verbalizing emotions anyways."
"Can't say I'm surprised! Get it? Can't say?"
"Yes, Patton, I got it," Janus rolls his eyes, but he's smiling. "You know I just hate puns."
"Liar liar!"

ok so re: logan and racism (and marcia) because i’ve been having Thoughts TM rotating in my mind for a day or two but like. logan, obviously, is a very racist individual, but i think mostly in the sense that he perpetuates and weaponizes racism rather than actively, like, unironically having said bigoted beliefs (for the most part of course lmao)
in the sense that, like, he does not believe that, say, white people are inherently superior, and he knows and acknowledges that they have a leg up in the world because he’s many things but he’s not stupid. but to him, that’s not a bad thing. it’s not a good thing either. it’s just .. a Thing. it’s the way the world works. (same with misogyny and other forms of oppression. “i didn’t make the world,” he says to shiv after saying her being a woman was a minus.)
he’s got a, like, might makes right natural selection type proto-fascistic sense of morality that prioritizes power and strength above all else.  rather than condemning systemic bigotry that he is very very very aware is real and exists, it’s like -- it is what it is. the world isn’t fair, tough luck. he’s aware that spreading racism, islamophobia, antisemitism, etc is profitable for him and therefore he will do it and he won’t feel bad because he didn’t create the world and it’s not his fault that that’s the way things are. racism and bigotry are tools and he won’t hesitate to use them if it’ll serve his interests. it’s all part of the game.
like he’s one of those people who would look at african and asian countries who have had their resources fucked to hell by colonialism and capitalism and imperialism and white supremacy, like iraq, egypt, iran, ethiopia, etc, and he wouldn’t try to downplay how much they contributed to humanity or whitewash them the way your run-of-the-mill old racist man would, but he’d also have no sympathy for their current suffering. he’d think well it’s their fault they let themselves get lazy and soft. that’s what you get. he wouldn’t downplay the crimes europeans have committed against native americans but he’d say that “they were conquered” and that’s the way the world works. oops sorry tough luck you lost.
which brings me to: he respects people of color who, to him, “rise above” racism -- like marcia. because to him, human rights aren’t inalienable. you have to claw your way through the world to be respected and perceived as a human being but if you DO manage to do that -- then you’re one of the good ones. you deserve respect. (romanticizing suffering like a good old catholic lol) i think he feels like him and marcia are similar in the sense that they both rose above hardship -- in the sense that they’re both immigrants (obviously with VERY different experiences) who made something of themselves.
so he respects marcia in a way he doesn’t respect anyone else in the show, in a way. he doesn’t respect his kids or the pierces because they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and he doesn’t respect poor people either because he grew up poor too and he still made something of himself so fuck that everything’s an excuse. he’s like the poster-child of someone who has personally experienced injustice (being abused as a child, living in poverty, etc) and rather than not wanting anyone else to experience these things, you’d rather everyone else did because that’s only fair. like why do YOU get to have a safe space when I didn’t? no fuck that
so like i think if one of the kids were to say something bigoted or micro-aggressive to marcia in his presence he’d be quick to be like, okay, well what do YOU do successfully. quickly. however. he wouldn’t of course actively make the environment they live in safe for her, and he WILL actively promote racism against her people because that’s what works for him, just like he didn’t take measures to keep his kids safe from the people he associates himself with.

Logan headcanons because I can
Autistic
Red is an overwhelming color for him, mainly due to his brain associating it with Roman and Roman's often overwhelming personality
Number 2 is why he despises when Thomas wears red.
The red pen he used to use was only due to his brain applying Strict Teacher Rules to his annotations and edits to Roman's scripts, he was extremely glad to find that Roman despised the pen and wanted him to use a different one
He used to be much more apt to outbursts of a more positive kind, such as willingly giving more information than strictly needed because he enjoyed helping the others learn things
This changed due to repeated negative feedback that makes Logan feel as though he did nothing but make the others feel stupid (red pen, again, but slightly worse because it was more EVERYTHING he was doing, than just one thing)
He stopped wearing his onesie, even when alone in his room, due to fear of being summoned and ridiculed for his childish behavior
He is much harder on himself than he is on the others, despite their apparent belief that he is an arrogant cocky dick
He doesn't often pay attention to the lyrics in songs, rather the beat and instrumental, therefore his music taste is extremely wonky, consisting of any kind of instrumental that makes his brain feel happy, including extremely inappropriate songs and/or extremely childish ones, without him even realizing the context of the words (this is actually backed by his playlist)
There is something about the formula of country music that makes it extremely appealing to him and his pattern-seeking brain
This also applies to those thriller movies that follow the classic killer pattern with the survival rules.
Janus and Roman are two of Logan's least favorite sides
Roman is too overwhelming, and Janus is incredibly hard for him to understand due to him talking almost exclusively in lies
Patton is kind of in the middle, if he was to properly rank them. His overly feelingsy thing, and the wishy washy of morals and the confusing mixture of both makes it hard for them to work together, but he prefers Patton to Roman because he is less overwhelming and loud and otherwise overstimulating, and he doesn't have to worry about Patton speaking in lies, which puts him above Janus.
Remus is in second place, simply because Remus is slightly more tolerable than Patton, even though Logan cannot place WHY (it might be how blunt Remus is compared to how Patton likes to sugarcoat tings and/or hide the negative things)
Virgil is his favorite because they can have logical debates that, even when they get out of hand, will not overwhelm and overstimulate him, they have similar sensory issues, and he is simply the calmest of all the other sides
Logan despises his outbursts, regardless of what kind, and he refused to speak to any of the sides for a week after WTIT
Virgil was the first one to break through afterwards
Remus apologized for pushing him so far, but clarified that he wasn't actually sorry for DOING it, and more for how much it clearly affected Logan beyond the automatic reaction he had hoped for
Logan accepted this apology, because it was sincere, and he can understand Remus' point of view
He did get him back, however, by forcing him to sit through an entire 'lesson' on actual class etiquette.
This started a kind of 'battle' between them of putting each other through increasingly annoying things that one enjoyed and the other did not
Virgil caught Remus forcing Logan to wear a particular texture that extremely bothered his sensory stuff, as a part of this 'game' and proceeded to tear Remus a new one about abusing a fun little game that Virgil thought was a bad idea in the first place, and Can't you see that you've gone too far, this isn't funny anymore, he's genuinely distressed, get him out of that before I take YOUR nipples and shove them up YOUR nose.
Remus didn't actually care about the nipple thing, but he did get where Virgil was coming from, and got Logan out of that Horrific Sweater of that Horrific Texture, and apologized by letting Logan force him to wear an Actual Tie tied Properly for an Entire Day
The game has been on hiatus since because Virgil refuses to allow it to continue, despite Logan insisting that it's Quite Fine, Virgil, there is No Need for your Continued Vigilance, however Appreciated it is. (and it is VERY appreciated, Logan does not usually receive this kind of positive attention to make sure he is comfortable and stays that way)
Logan and Remus will sit and watch Those Movies Referenced In Number 11 together, and will each go on rants about how Stupid that Character is for going in That Room, or Up Those Stairs or something equally stereotypical and stupid
This never gets old, and Logan thinks he may do this until he ceases to exist however that may happen
They watched Trick (2019) together, and Logan spent an hour and a half ranting about how Fucking Amazing the movie was and how The End was So Good and Revolutionary and It's Such A Shame this movie Isn't More Popular because it's A Masterpiece
This is the moment Remus realizes he's in love with Logan
Remus says this seconds after realizing it, cutting Logan off mid-rant
Logan gapes at him for a minute, unsure how to respond, before (extremely apologetically) explaining that he does not feel those feelings for Remus, and that he doesn't want their difference in feelings to harm their friendship because Frankly he's Unsure how he would Continue Doing This (existing) without Remus there in some capacity
This makes their friendship extremely strained, and eventually, they stop spending time together.
Remus explains that this is because he can't Keep Doing This because he is constantly Not Saying Things he wants to say to Logan so that Logan doesn't think he's Actively Hitting On Him, and it makes Remus Physically Ill to not say his things out loud
Logan is unable to function properly for a week after this, and he doesn't really understand how he got This Attached to him.
Virgil talks some sense into him, and Logan has to then spend three months examining his feelings (ugh, feelings) for Remus, until he comes to the conclusion that he Is, In Fact, In Love With Remus
His immediate reaction is to go straight to Remus' room and tell him his feelings
Virgil tries to stop him and fails because Logan cannot think of one logical reason that Remus wouldn't at least hear him out, even if Remus' feelings have since disappeared, which Logan knows is something that happens, and is uncontrollable (if those feelings WERE controllable, he would never have them)
The second Logan says the words, "I'm in love with you", Remus kisses him without a seconds thought, because this is something he's wanted to do since Before he realized he was in love with Logan.
Logan's brain cuts out and overheats as if he is a literal computer, and it takes the literal snap of his neck (killing him) to properly reboot him so he can function.
Remus spent almost three hours trying to get Logan back to normal and almost has an anxiety attack thinking he's just caused the most catastrophic thing ever and somehow literally killed Thomas' Logic.
Virgil senses Remus' increasing anxiety, and is the one to suggest the neck snap. He says it as a joke, to lighten the mood to hopefully make Remus feel better, and Remus takes it as a genuine suggestion.
The first thing Logan does once rebooted, is kiss Remus back.

Unpopular Opinion:I liked S3 Logan Echolls, but something about movie-and-beyond Logan felt off and "sanded-down"
In Season 3 of the main show,Logan was quieter and sadder, but it made sense to me,since it was a quiet time after a truckload of trauma - aka,he wasn't constantly on edge. Besides,he still had a lot of cool moments and went berserk to defend Veronica time after time. The only complaint I have is Logan being treated as a mindless meathead. That directly contradicts his obscure references to random works of art and dramatic attitude in the previous seasons. But other than that,he felt very much like Logan.
In the movie,he was just okay,IMO. He did have a great chemistry with Veronica and his background with Carrie was very much in-character(on a tangent, the mystery itself was stupid. Like, why frame Logan for the killing of an emotionally unstable drug addict when they could just... Cause an OD,or whatever. Maybe Veronica could return to Neptune to help Keith out,for example. Logan suspects Carrie was murdered and still asks for Veronica's investigation skills. Besides,I never got the sense Cobb was particularly dangerous - just have the shithead killed. It's not hard for a bunch of rich and powerful people like the 09'rs to hire a hitman or something). Plus,Jason Dohring did an amazing job to make Logan seem more of a complicated good guy,but the script didn't flesh him out well,IMO. But Veronica being cool and having a flawless arc made up for all the fuck ups, lol.
In the books,he was less of a character and more of a romantic idea in Veronica's mind and a military brochure. I was so excited to see more of Logan being a good guy who cares to make a difference in the world and he just wasn't there. I was told he was a hero, but this hero wasn't shown. Principled good guy Logan was supposed to be at least twice as colourful and nuanced as his teen self. Not only there's his past as the Obligatory Psychotic Jackass, but how driven, proactive and intelligent he's and the fact that the US military is a moral clusterfuck. True believer lawful good Logan Echolls who fights corruption on the inside through Malicious Compliance and Loophole Abuse. FMA Manga Roy Mustang but make it neo-noir,lol. Plus,it would add to him and Veronica being a Power Couple and to Veronica being constantly worried about Logan's safety.
In the show,Logan is more or less as bland as he was in the books, but Jason's acting was a saving throw. Besides,he had some cool moments. But overall, meh.

it’s funny for people to really want people to formally label roman a “fascist.” functionally and in certain parts of his genuine beliefs, he is and that’s like, just part of being a roy. you really have to ask “why is it important that we call roman a ‘fascist’?” i assume that on a conscious level, most want this because they don’t like the so-called “woobifying” of roman that could slip into (fictional?) fascist apologia occasionally; however, i think that it’s pretty stupid to make this a roman-exclusive quality when they’re all fascistic and i think that sometimes, labelling them as such creates this kind of distancing from the characters for the audience to reassure themselves that they’re comparatively “good people.” i mean, the characters literally do that in canon. they just look stupider because they’re actually in positions to benefit from fascism (owning/executives at the racism factory) and also they have like, fascistic tendencies. i mean, there’s kendall calling shiv and roman “nazi-lovers” and himself a “defender of liberal democracy,”as if that means shit. like, come on.
like, fascism is an extremely morally loaded word and when it becomes synonymous with “bad person” and loses all other meaning, it goes back around to just saying that a character is “evil” or “the worst” so they don’t have to actually understand what fascism is and how it works. fascism isn’t just when people do racism or whatever. that’s such a ridiculously narrow view of things. what makes succession’s writing about fascism interesting is that it shows fascism as a spectacle, an attractive one, that capitalism uses. they’re fascists because they’re capitalists and specifically, ones that have been benefiting from decades of fascist spectacle. so, if they’re fascists because they’re capitalists, why are they capitalists? and it’s because that’s all they know and they’re born into that position. why did logan become a capitalist? why does anyone become one? if you can’t figure it out then, i don’t know how you’re watching this.

I feel like this is likely a bat to a hornet's nest topic but I deeply respect your takes and thoughts overall a lot so here goes: I really appreciate that the show frankly goes out of its way to not pathologize its characters and lets the audience sit with them in the context of their own lives. So I'm kind of baffled that so much focus is given to "diagnosing" them in fan discussions, the vast brunt of which Kendall gets. I don't understand how you can watch this show and understand him as someone who's been heavily abused and had his reactions to being abused weaponized against him and come away being like "wow it's so cringe he acts like that, he must have a brain disease and is just too stupid to understand that. every action he takes is because he is manic/depressed/letting the disease manifest. if only he took the good moral Legal drugs that I do instead of the ontologically bad ones that are Illegal and for dirty addicts. hopefully one day he will Get Help and Receive Treatment so he will be more palatable (no whatever he's done up to this point doesn't count because it didn't work which must inherently be due to his own moral failings)." How did a show like this attract so many Reganites??
bat at a hornets' nest yes. yeah i've said before that i dislike diagnosing fictional characters as a general rule. it's tautological ("they do [x] because they have [y], and they have [y] because they do [x]") and abrogates further analysis of their motives or the meanings of their actions. and it's doubly irksome to me with succession, because unlike a lot of tv, i genuinely don't think that it's written within the weltanschauung of dsm neurobio determinism. ie, it's not a show where the answer to "why did he do that?" is ever supposed to be "his brain is just like that"—these actions are supposed to mean something about what the character wants and needs, and the effect of the capitalist milieu on those things. it's psychological, not psychiatric (& of course, psychoanalytic approaches are common in formal literary studies, whereas blunt psychiatric diagnosis is decidedly less so).
with kendall's drug use there are some particularly irritating ways this all plays out. i've been fiddling with my own reading emphasising the context of logan's demands on kendall and the construction of bourgeois masculinity, and have tried to place kendall's drug use as a response to neoliberal control mechanisms à la deleuze or foucault. i could certainly be challenged on elements of this reading, but what i see on this website is generally just an endless slog of very biomedicalised reads that seem to have no awareness of the particular historical and social baggage present in that model. i do agree there's an element of reactionary DARE-esque moralising going on here (stg if i have to read one more post written by someone who, like, has never so much as met a coke user and thinks all drugs instantaneously give you irreversible morally weighted heart damage, lmao), but it's honestly not just that.
i think most of the time when people do this they're not trying to be reactionary or regressive, and often they not only don't believe themselves to be moralising affective distress, but actually think the dsm diagnosis is the way to avoid that type of moralisation. this is essentially the "it's a discrete disease entity, so they have no control over it and can't help it, so it's not their fault" argument. in practice this fails on many levels. for one thing, it often implicitly assumes that 'ending the stigma' requires any kind of mental disability or affective distress to be treated analogously to physical disability or illness, as though those latter are not also consistently stigmatised and moralised—because ableism is actually more complex than that and has to do with the fact that capitalism values people on the basis of the 'use' it can make of them and their bodies, etc etc. it is also, again, a wildly decontextualised understanding of affective distress, the reasons why people use drugs—including in a manner that feels compulsive and out of control—and so forth.
i'll add also that wrt succession, i actually do see a LOT of pathologisation thrown at roman as well, and more than an incidental amount directed at connor, tom, shiv, and logan. which is to say, i don't think this is solely about people's discomfort with addicts. there's a broad tendency among fans, echoing the even broader social tendency, to see medical diagnosis as personally liberatory, and medicine and psychiatry as passing 'objective' judgments that are necessary in order for a person to 'get better.' this is essentially positivism and is very much a status that the medical profession has fought to obtain (in france you can trace certain 18th-century discourses on national decline, aristocratic luxury, and the corrupting influence of the city -> the birth of clinical medicine after the first revolution -> social hygiene and the pathologisation of the parisian urban poor -> the third republic's 'physician-legislators' and the general class status and professionalisation of medicine; i know less about the gory details of the american and british cases simply by dint of what i do professionally).
we tend to forget these histories when talking about science; it presents itself as a set of timeless, incontrovertible truths that are simply waiting to be uncovered, and we have entire industries of science communication and journalism that propagate this view. which is to say, circling back to succession, i don't believe that most people diagnosing and pathologising these characters are trying to be reactionary or are aware that there are reactionary and moralising elements inherently built into these discourses. i think they're largely people who have not been given the tools to see alternatives, like the perspectives dominant in the history and sociology of science, which are very much kept paywalled and inaccessible on purpose because this is profitable for the academe.
this type of popular literary analysis is simply not going to go anywhere as long as this is still the status and the moral resonance of medicine (and psychiatry by extension because it gained its professional independence without sacrificing the appeal to medico-scientific epistemological authority). i don't think succession viewers are any more or less prone to this type of thinking than the general population they exist amongst. i firmly disagree with this attitude, obviously, and like i said, i don't actually think succession is written 'psychiatrically,' which cannot be said for all tv lol. but i more or less expect to encounter this type of deference to medico-psychiatric judgments in 95% of social interactions and contexts, again because of a combination of institutional control of information, other forms of inaccessibility, and physicians' and psychiatrists' advocacy for their own class and professional interests, both historically and ongoing today.

Title: Too Much Morality Will Cause Anxiety
Prompt from @alvodra : Always on the search for more Logan calming Virgil down and being the only one truly understanding anxiety, possibly with Patton messing up somehow
Summary: Patton causes Virgil a lot of anxiety but Logan is there to help Virgil through it.
Word count: 1630
Tag list: @prince-rowan-of-the-forest @ishipgenfics (let me know if you want to be added)
TWs: Mentions of alcohol, manipulation, anxiety, panic attacks, little unsympathetic Patton
AO3
Thomas paced around the living room, occasionally glancing down at his watch. There was a debate going on inside his head and it looked like he was losing. Thomas decided he might as well make this debate real.
“Can everyone meet me in the living room? Please it’s an emergency?” Thomas called out loud to summon his logic, morality, anxiety, and creativity.
First, his logical side, dressed in business casual as usual, popped into the room.
“Is everything alright, Thomas?” Logan asked with a slight face of concern. A few emotions slipped through his stoic face. Logan tries to keep an appearance of seriousness, but Thomas and the other sides know Logan does care a lot.
“I’m-" “THOMAS, ARE YOU HURT?!?” Patton rushed into the conversation, interrupting Thomas.
While Logan and Patton were busy trying to figure out what was wrong with Thomas, Virgil quietly snuck in. Like a cat, Virgil stood on the steps observing everyone, waiting for his opportunity to make his presence known. His purple eyeshadow glimmered in the light. As grumpy as he pretends to be, his eyeshadow clearly gave away that he was having a good day.
Finally, the most dramatic side appeared.
“Oh god! Thomas! This is really an emergency. Your hair is absolutely atrocious. This must be why you called us here so suddenly.” Roman summoned a hairbrush, “Don’t worry as the most stylish side I got you covered.”
“My hair isn’t why I called you all here.” Thomas tried to correct Roman, but Roman was not listening. He threw the hairbrush at Thomas. It flew through the air, then went straight through Thomas’ head. Roman tended to forget since he was part of Thomas’ mind that anything he summoned Thomas could not touch. Thomas blankly stared at his sides as the hairbrush fell onto the floor. “Still isn’t about my hair.”
“Are you sure?” Roman raised one eyebrow in a questioning matter, “Couldn’t hurt for me to teach you to style it.”
“Ok. Moving on. This is wasting time. Thomas, why have you called us here?” Logan huffed at Roman’s antics as he returned the floor to Thomas.
“Maybe he’s dying.” Virgil deadpanned.
Thomas continued talking about his emergency, ignoring the dying comment, “So there’s this party. And this really cute guy invited me to go. But I don’t know if I should actually go.”
Logan rolled his eyes, “You must learn what is a real emergency.”
“A party! With a cute guy! Thomas, you’d be insane to say no.” Roman happily said.
“I don’t know guys. Crowded places aren’t always the best setting for Thomas. We should politely decline and go under our covers instead.” Virgil said looking a bit uneasy.
“Oh, Virgil. Being a downer as usual.” Patton said, “Thomas as your side that is your happiness you have to go. Socialization is great. Plus if Virgil said no you automatically know to do the opposite. When is listening to anxiety ever good?”
“What if the cute guy doesn’t show? Do you know anyone else at this party? What if the host doesn’t want you there? Will there be alcohol or drugs? Who am I kidding, it’s an adult party of course there will be alcohol and drugs. What if you get taken advantage of while not completely in your senses?” Virgil’s eyeshadow turned to a slightly darker purple, all the glimmer disappeared.
“Now you are just being stupid, Virgil. Real life isn’t as bad as your mind tells you it is. Thomas, trust me. I’m your morality. Would I ever really do something to harm you? This party will be good for you, for all of us.” Patton glanced at Virgil, “It will be especially good for dear Virgil here. You know how a little bit of alcohol can take the edge off. Maybe a few drinks and the nagging voice in your head will calm down.”
Virgil’s eyeshadow turned another shade darker. The purple started to mix with black. The joy from Virgil’s eyes was long gone. “If you drink you might not be able to make a rational decision. How well do you know this cute guy? What if he has bad intentions?”
“Please don’t listen to Mr. Fearful over here. Virgil is overreacting. This isn’t even an argument. Everyone knows you should go to the party and you really want to.” Patton smiled at Thomas. Virgil knows that smile and recoiled a bit, pushing his hood over his head, “So you’ll go to the party, right? Wouldn’t you love a night off from anxiety?”
Thomas shifted from one foot to another, he could feel the tension. “I’m not so sure I want to go now.”
“It’s because of Virgil isn’t it?” Patton pointed his finger accusingly at Virgil, “Maybe next time only bring the important sides if you actually want to get anything done.”
The room got deadly silent for a second. The only sound to be heard was heavy breathing.
Virgil’s eyeshadow turned completely black. His eyes dulled in color as well. He wobbled a little as the room spun.
Logan took a step closer to Virgil, “Virgil, you are looking pale. Do you feel alright?”
Virgil promptly collapsed to the floor before sinking out.
Complete chaos broke out the second he disappeared.
Thomas was too stunned to talk. He’d seen Patton and Virgil not get along before, but never to this degree.
“What the hell, Patton?” Roman yelled at Patton.
Logan was trying to hold back his anger, “You crossed a line this time.”
“I didn’t say anything there rest of us weren’t thinking.” Patton shot back.
“I don’t have time for this. I’ll lecture you later.” Logan turned to Roman, “Make sure Thomas is alright. I’m going to check on Virgil.” Logan sunk out.
“Patton please leave”
“But kiddo”
“No. You’ve done enough.” Patton pouted, then left the room in defeat.
…………………………….
Logan appeared in front of Virgil’s door. “Hey, Virgil. Are you in here?” He knocked on the door and waited for an answer. A minute passed; No one answered. He knocked again, “It’s Logan. I’m concerned.”
He attempted to open to door since Virgil was starting to worry him. He twisted the knob; It was locked. “Please, Virgil. I am truly worried.”
Still no answer. Logan sighed and took a seat next to Virgil’s door, “I don’t know if you can hear me but I’m going to give this shot. Take a deep breath. In for four. Hold for seven. Out for eight. Repeat. In for four. Hold for seven. Out for eight.” Logan breathed in and out as he instructed Virgil on his breathing. He wanted to give off as calm of an aura as possible.
“Getting in touch with your senses usually works to help ground you. What are five things you can see? You don’t have to say them out loud if you don’t want to.”
Logan heard a few mumbles from the other side of the door. It sounded vaguely like, “Bed, plushies, lamp, door, fan.”
“Very good, Virgil. Now four things you can feel.” Logan felt an immense sense of relief hearing Virgil’s voice.
“Carpet, clothing, impending doom, coldness.” The door lock clicked open.
“May I come in?” Logan stood up, putting his hand on the doorknob. He waited for Virgil’s response.
It was quiet for a few moments, a small “yeah” was heard in the background.
Logan slowly opened the door. “Three things you can hear.” He said as he walked in.
“Door creaking, sound machine, your voice.” Virgil closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“You are doing great. Two things you can smell.”
Virgil started to sniff the room, “Lavender and your hand sanitizer.”
Logan sat down next to Virgil, “One thing you can taste.”
“Umm, my tongue I guess?” Virgil wiped his eyes, smudging his eyeshadow.
“Physical contact?” Logan asked.
“Yeah, I’m good with physical contact today.”
Logan took Virgil’s hand. He helped Virgil stand up and lead him to the bed. Virgil collapsed into Logan’s arms and started hysterically sobbing.
“I am just trying to protect Thomas and be helpful,” Virgil mumbled into Logan’s chest.
Logan rubbed circles on Virgil’s back, “I know. I think everything you said had a valid point. It is always important to think about safety.”
“I don’t understand why Patton hates me so much.”
“I do not see the logic in him hating you. We are a team. Targeting one of us will just be counterproductive.” Logan ran his fingers through Virgil’s hair, “Tomorrow I am going to give Patten a stern lecture.”
Logan heard a small laugh from Virgil. He looked up to meet Logan’s gaze, “You’d do that for me?”
Logan smiled, “Of course. You know I love a good lecture.”
Logan shifted Virgil off his lap and onto the pillow. He carefully slid off the bed.
Virgil reached for him, “Please stay.”
“I will be right back, I promise.” Logan went into the bathroom connected to Virgil’s room. He pulled out a container of makeup wipes from the draw. Logan gently took off Virgil’s eyeshadow to prevent it from ruining his bed or getting in his eyes.
Virgil’s eyes drooped in tiredness.
“I think it would be best to call it a night and go to sleep.” Logan pulled the spider web patterned comforter over Virgil.
Virgil reached out and tugged on Logan’s wrist, “Stay here tonight.”
“Of course, Virgil.” He pushed the comforter over and slid over it. Logan pulled Virgil into his arms and kissed his forehead. “Sleep tight, my dear.”
Virgil’s breaths eventually evened out as he fell asleep. Once Logan was sure Virgil was soundly asleep he pulled Virgil closer and fell asleep. Logan held onto Virgil all night to let him know was he always there for him.

A Really Stupid Pet Peeve of Mine
One random thing that annoys me sometimes for some reason is when people refer to Patton solely as Thomas’ “moral side.” Like, when someone is introducing all the sides, they say the Logan is logic, Virgil is anxiety, Roman is creativity and passion, and Patton is morality.
The series may have recently been leaning into the moral aspect of Patton more, but he has previously been established to be a lot more broad than that. He preserves all of Thomas’ more nostalgic memories (as shown in Moving On Parts 1 & 2). He encourages Thomas to do the little things that make him happy (Mind vs. Heart and Growing Up show this especially well). He often says that he is Thomas’ emotions, or at least holds them.
Patton is fun and playful and sometimes ignores doing these more “ethics” centric duties in order to just enjoy life. In fact, most of the time, it seems like being Thomas’ moral compass is kind of a side gig rather than his main job.
His sense of morality is also shown to be both firm and loose at the same time. He has his core central values, and definitely has some of the more simplistic stuff down, but most of his more complex moral decisions are pretty in the moment and it feels like those more intense ones are more...shaky? If that’s the right word? His moral compass gets very confused and mixed up quite easily, and while that can happen to us all, it seems odd for a side whose whole thing is morality.
I was thinking about his almost contradictory nature a bit ago, as the title wasn’t adding up to me. How can he be Morality but also be the one in charge of the majority of Thomas’ emotions? That doesn’t make any sense. He seems more like just Thomas’ emotions who strongly affects his morals. So what does he have to do with morality? Then I remembered something that was right in front of my face: they don’t always refer to him as morality. Sometimes, they would call him Thomas’ “heart.”
And that makes so much more sense than him being morality specifically. Him being the heart explains everything about him and his actions. Metaphorically, we say that our feelings are stored in the heart, and that our heart is where some of our more instinctual morals are. The heart is often carefree and sometimes a bit fickle, often changing course in the moment.
It also explains why Patton’s moral dilemmas felt so weird to me. Because he isn’t morality specifically. He is more the instinctual and emotion driven side of morality. You could argue that ethics are always driven by emotion, but ethics also do sometimes have a sense of “logic” to them. Ethics are complicated, which is likely why Patton has such a hard time with his morality. It’s because it’s only a part of his job, and it isn’t his job alone.
So everything made sense. Patton isn’t Morality, he is Heart. He is Thomas’  sadness, happiness, fear, anger, surprise and disgust. He is the most simplistic and yet most complex side. His job is probably one of the hardest, in a way, as he carries many of the most all consuming and overwhelming emotions, like sadness and grief.
Now, there are other sides like Virgil and perhaps the Orange side (if people’s theories are correct) who are in charge of certain emotions. But Patton is in charge of the basic ones specifically. Thomas has a fear of spiders, and therefore Patton has a fear of spiders, whereas Virgil doesn’t. If we are going with the theory that Orange is something like Wrath or Rage, that is still slightly different from anger. And we rarely associate anger with the heart either way, unless it is very deeply rooted. On top of this, Rage and Wrath are much more festering, something that doesn’t seem to fit with what Patton is about.
All in all, this is my probably completely pointless post about why Patton is Thomas’ Heart, not his Morality. This is a really dumb thing to get annoyed over, but I just needed to let it out. It can lead to so many misconceptions about him as a character if we go with the mindset that his entire title is Morality rather than Thomas’ Heart. I’m pretty sure that everyone will read this post and say “well yeah, duh, we already know that. Way to state the obvious and get worked up over nothing.” But in my defense, I am neurodivergent and particular about everything.
So yeah, those are my thoughts on that.

Would anyone in the LAMP social circle be genuinely upset if LAMP killed someone for them?
yes, Harley, absolutely. It's a recurring source of tension in Harley and Thomas's marriage
what we've gotta keep in mind is that, while i wouldnt go so far as saying living in Wickhills makes everyone like, a completely amoral bastard, it DOES generally fuck up your sense of scale
ironically, the thing that makes all of their friends and family and just kind of Wince in response to murder is the same thing that makes most of the older generations inherently distrust and Logan
if you live in wickhills, a fae might kill you - you can ward against it, you can plan to avoid it, you can learn all the tricks and rules and sneaky word gymnastics that are known, and one still might just decide they dont like the look of you, and they'll kill you, and there wont be anything you can do about it
to the people of wickhills, this is something like a severe weather storm. floods, lightning, tornados - this is just something that happens. you can plan for it, but you cant stop it. it would be silly and stupid to even try
so they wind up sharply divided on fae as people - you can love them, and accept it. Or you can hate them, and revile it.
Logan is in the position of being fae as a person but having the second stance for himself. he DOES think he should be held to human standards of morality, and the fact that its so hard for him results in a lot of self loathing.
So while most of the Wickhills-native loved ones of LAMP have like a sliding scale, Harley is the only one who is a Hard No. He mostly remains silently disapproving, and mellows to neutral tolerance when Brian is born (it is suddenly a lot easier to shorten the tolerance for hostility when it might be toward your child) but he would still 100% never approve of them killing someone on his own behalf, and makes that explicitly clear to Virgil and Logan.

pre relationship: 3, general: 3, 6, love: 10, 13, domestic life: 7 !!
hihihihihihi !!!! i cant wait to start s2 tonight i need to see my kittycat i need to see him !!!!! thank u for always sending asks my aaroman warrior o7 u should rb this ask game 2 so i can pelt u w waystarshipping and jermstone questions
Did any of their friends or family want them to get together?
absolutely fucking not!!!!!!
by the time any of the roys find out its too late, theyre already very much together. i think the fam knows abt aaron before 04x03 and like, willingly keeps him a secret (have 2 believe none of them would out a family member for personal gain. if not just to avoid the shitstorm for logan). some of them wuld obviously would prefer for roman to a) not be gay or b) at least not be dating a Fucking Weirdo. oh well!
aarons friends are also not. thrilled. for obvious reasons. reactions range from 'ok...u r gold digging, right? does this mean we can afford a hot tub :D' to 'morally/ethically what the Actual fuck is wrong with you bro???'
What was their first kiss like?
hmm the first time they kiss probably an impulsive. half-drunken thing. prolly after their first '''date''' (which roman insists is not a date despite calling him up and inviting him for dinner and drinks). it's rlly messy, roman is kind of an awful kisser at first (out of practice #nobitches) so aaron is kinda like...ok....but it's very endearing somehow.
What’s their relationship with each other’s families?
i could write a dissertation on. aaron and the roys. i think he's...polite? i mean, he knows roman is super close to them despite how fockin shitty they are to him all the time, so he's willing to grin and bear it. he doesnt like ken for Reasons (annoying on twitter, involvement in 'dog pound', annoying in real life)*, he's rightfully intimidated by shiv, he thinks connor is rlly fuckin funny, he has a weird psychosexual obsession w tom (as stated, would put tom in a saw trap), he thinks greg is cool and would like to talk about his record collection w him.
*authors footnote: i personally like kendall a lot i do love the fucked up brother dynamic between ken and rome BUT aaron is protective and an asshole and doesnt care abt nuance if youre mean to his boyfriend you go to the gulag for 1000 years ! aarons friends are hsi family! he lives w his childhood + college besties! they are all spectacular assholes as well so roman weirdly fits in! roman likes aarons bff because he is also a snarky asshole. one of aaron's college friends actually is from LA, so that's another person he can relate to somewhat. ovi he's a rich asshole tho and like, has to adapt to how normal people live and socialize (aaron and his friends arent even normal theyre like a weirdly codependent found family) but. they all kind come around to him! (will post extended oc universe lore someday on god)
Do they prefer verbal or physical affection?
i think they both are kinda stupid abt feelings and prefer physical affection, as sometimes its easier to manage than like, pouring your heart out. aaron is big on words of affirmation tho, once they r more comfy in their relationship/roman is more comfortable w receiving stuff like that.
Who remembers the little things?
aaron is def a romantic, he's big on anniversaries, quick to pick up little things like roman's coffee order, his favorite snacks, etc. roman is a little rusty but is surprisingly sensitive when he cares about someone. he's super in to aaron, so he makes sure to note all of aarons favorite movies and albums (so he can bring them up later and Totally sound like he knows what he's talking about).
[also they r a beautiful ocd (aaron) x adhd (roman) couple so in general aaron is Incredibly on top of things (or else he might die, who knows!) while roman is a fockin mess with remembering shit.]
Who kills the bugs in the house?
the real answer is gustav. he eats them. aaron will hold the cat up and he will take care of business.

Self-Contradiction
Summary: It's not exactly easy having to be Thomas' emotions and Thomas' morals at the same time.
It did not feel good when Thomas hated himself.
Patton was the heart, he got the brunt of it, and it sucked.  That wasn’t to say that it didn’t affect the other sides too.  Virgil got more anxious about when people were going to notice how awful Thomas was and leave him.  Logan found it more difficult to make Thomas listen to him and listen to reason, and that made him frustrated, which often made things worse.  Roman, who was the ego and got hit harder by this like Patton did, lost his confidence and it was more difficult to do any other parts of his job too.
But Patton felt it when Thomas hated himself, a constant thrumming shame in the background, and sometimes in the foreground, that made it feel like nothing would be okay ever again.  That clearly Thomas was wrong, all the time, about everything, because he was just the worst.  The feeling touched every other feeling Patton had, made them worse if they were bad, seem fleeting if they were good.  It made Patton want to lay in bed until the world swallowed them all whole, and on the worst days, that felt like everything they deserved.
This… this wasn’t a worst day.  There had been times where everything felt heavier than it did right now.  Patton could breathe.  It just didn’t feel like there was much point to it.  He wasn’t surprised when no one came to knock on his door.  Everyone else had to be having just as crummy of a day as he was, of course no one had space for his stupid problems.
He was planning on curling up and spending the day in bed while feeling bad for spending the day in bed, but at about 10 in the morning he felt the presence of someone rising up behind him.
“Good morning, Patton.  Though it doesn’t seem like you’re having one.”
Patton didn’t bother trying to move, which didn’t help with the shame problem.  Someone had come to visit him, and he couldn’t even show them the courtesy of looking at them?
“Hi, Janus,” Patton mumbled.
“Are you alright?” Janus murmured.  Patton felt his weight shift the bed as he sat down.
“Do I look alright?” Patton grumbled, and then he winced.  “Sorry.”
“I wasn’t asking because I was unsure, I was inviting you to talk about it, sweetheart,” Janus murmured, and Patton felt his hand start rubbing his back.
With that, he finally moved.  He shifted away.  “Don’t do that.”
“Alright,” Janus said, and the hand didn’t reappear.  “Can I ask why?”
Patton didn’t say anything.
“Patton?”
“Don’t deserve it,” Patton mumbled.  “Not today.”
There was a moment of silence, and then Janus stood up and walked around the side of his bed.  Eventually, his face swam into view, looking concerned.
“Patton, what’s wrong?” he asked.
Patton didn’t say anything.
“Do you not know?”
Patton shook his head, rubbing against the sheets.  “I know.”
“Do you not want to tell me?”
Patton didn’t say anything.
“That’s alright,” Janus said.  “But comfort isn’t about ‘deserve,’ Patton.  I would have assumed you knew that.”
Patton shook his head, rubbing against the sheets again.  “No, they don’t have to earn it, but I have to earn it.  Today.”
“Oh,” Janus said, crossing his arms and looked unamused.  “And why is that?”
Patton didn’t say anything.
“Patton.”
Patton closed his eyes against tears welling up.  “Because I’m being mean to myself,” he whispered.
Janus hummed in acknowledgement.  “Can I be nice to you then?”
Patton nodded weakly.  “Please?” he whispered.
A second later he felt a hand start running through his hair, and Patton leaned into the touch.
“‘M sorry,” Patton muttered.  “You’re probably not feeling good either.”
There was a pause.
“I’m… not doing spectacular today,” Janus admitted.  “But you definitely don’t seem to be doing worse.”
“Sorry.”
“It’s not a judgment, sweetheart.”
Patton moved his head so Janus’ hand was cupping his cheek.  Janus seemed to catch on and started rubbing his thumb across Patton’s cheek.
“Do you want to talk about what’s wrong?” Janus asked.  “Either way is alright.”
Patton didn’t say anything for a minute.
“Nothing’s ever going to change,” he whispered finally.
Janus’ hand stilled.  “That doesn’t sound very hopeful, coming from you,” he said.
“Well, you want me to be hopeless anyway, don’t you?”
Janus’ hand disappeared for a second, before cupping Patton’s cheek again.  “Why would I want that, Patton?  That’s not a good thing.”
Patton opened his eyes to see Janus looking down at him, seeming very concerned.
Patton looked at him a minute longer.  “Do you actually think I’m good for something, Janus?” he asked.
Janus’ eyes widened in alarm.  “What?”
“I mean, I’m just the stupid heart who leads Thomas astray, right?” Patton asked, looking down at the bed sheets again.  “And his stupid morals that never let him focus on himself, like you want.  If— if Thomas hates himself, then I feel awful because it feels bad.  But then when he tries to love himself, I feel awful because it feels wrong.  Whose stupid idea was it to give his emotions and his morals to the same side anyway?”  Patton pressed his head into his arms and finally started crying.
After a second, Janus started running his hand through Patton’s hair again.
He stayed there until Patton stopped crying, though Patton didn’t really feel any better after the supposed emotional release.
Janus cupped Patton’s cheek again and lifted it towards him so Patton could see his face.
“Of course,” Janus said firmly, “you are good for something, Patton.”
Patton looked away.
“You are Thomas’ emotions,” Janus said.  “You allow him to feel everything he needs to, good and bad.  And your morals allow Thomas to recognize how to do good in the world, which he wants.  It’s okay to want that, Patton.”
“Really?  Because today both of those things are just making me miserable.”
“Thomas has a lot to work on,” Janus said, running his hands through Patton’s hair again.  “That’s okay.  You are crucial, Patton.  And I do not want you to be hopeless.  Your job is to help Thomas see the good in the world and feel good about it.  That’s important to him, and it’s a good thing.  You’re a good thing, Patton.  Please believe me when I say I mean that.”
Patton reached up and pulled Janus’ hand down to cup his cheek again, and Janus obliged.
“I know,” he murmured after a second.  “I know I’m important.”
“Today’s just bad?” Janus asked.
Patton shakes his head on instinct.  “I’ve had worse.”
“Oh?  When was that?”
Patton leans heavily into Janus’ hand.  “When Thomas thought being gay was wrong,” he said quietly.  “That… that was worse.”
“Mm.  And so of course you’re certainly not allowed to feel bad unless things get to that point again.  That is the only time you’re allowed to have a crummy day.”
Patton smiled, just a little.
“Hey Janus?” he asked after a second.
“Yes?”
“Are you okay?”
“Don’t worry about me,” Janus said.
“You’re allowed to have a crummy day too,” Patton said.  “Even if you’re not feeling as bad as I am.”
“I know,” Janus said.  “I’m not saying that.  I am telling you not to worry about me, Patton.”
Patton didn’t say anything.
“Patton?”
“Come snuggle with me?” Patton whispered, because he had a feeling that would make them both feel better.
Janus was quiet for a moment, and then he nodded, and pulled the covers back.  He leaned back against the headboard and gently pulled Patton to his side, starting to run his hands through his hair again.
“You don’t want to get into something more comfortable than your usual clothes?” Patton asked, giving Janus a curious look.  “And you can lay down if you want.”
“Baby steps,” Janus said stiffly, which was when Patton realized how uncomfortable he looked sitting there.
“Wait, you— you don’t have to stay here just to make me feel better,” Patton said.
“I’m not,” Janus said.  “Just— baby steps.”
Patton nodded.  “Okay.”
So they both stayed there and felt crummy together.  And if things didn’t feel better, at least they weren’t alone.

The quiet council are really corrupt aren't they? They seem like the kind of people who would risk people's live than their possession of power.
"What country do you come from? You're on a social media platform, typing in fluent English, so I would assume somewhere in what would be considered 'the western world' - America, the United Kingdom, Europe, etc. I do so hate to be the one to educate you, but this describes every single government that ever has, ever will, ever can exist."
Tumblr media
"A government's purpose is to unify their country under a coherent policy, and while the details of that policy may change depending on your political leanings, the fundamental truth remains the same - it is the job of government to stay in power.
You leverage your natural resources to remain economically independent, you leverage your skill and expertise to remain in intellectual stride, you leverage your population to remain both militarily independent and maintain a steady growth rate."
Tumblr media
"It just so happens that one of Krakoa's greatest natural resources is an infinite supply of mutants with powers that can change the world. People question why must Krakoa be this way, why must we have such a cavalier disregard for life, why must we treat our flesh as disposable - I say that this is a stupid question, because how else can Krakoa be?
Should we treat resurrection as something special, something hallowed? Oh, the sheep can do that if they want, with their bleating about, 'but do we KNOW them?' and their pitiful affirmations that we are anything other than regrown flesh, but anyone with half a brain knows the truth. Every single mutant with a genetic sample in our gene bank and a telepathic back-up in our Cerebro cradles is expendable. How could they not be?
Just as the humans at first treated television or penicillin as the newest wonder of the world at first, but then came to regard it as simply part of their natural born lives, so it shall go with resurrection. And that is correct. The Quiet Council should risk mutant lives. I'd rather they do that than anything inherently valuable."
Tumblr media
"That being said, the Quiet Council are fools. Every single one of them is an idiot of the highest order. Spinning their wheels against one another rather than advancing our common good, that's the part I really take umbrage with. Well.
That, and meddling in my business."
Tumblr media
Yeah, this is one of those things where, that's just the story. Every single member of the Quiet Council - and yes, I am absolutely including the 'good ones' like Storm, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Xavier, Magneto, etc - is a corrupt piece of shit with warped morality, and yeah, it's partly because that is . . . sort of, what modern government 'requires'?
It's hard to be ethical in a modern political scene, it really fucking is, especially if you want to be successful. You don't make friends by telling the people you want to rally behind you not to accept bribes, not to stab each other in the back, to put the people's interests before their own, etc. A degree of compromise is required to get anywhere.
But that being said, fuck all these fuckers.
Tumblr media
Every single one of them signed off on Beast's genocide of Terra Verde. Jean Grey, vaunted 'heart' of the X-Men, just slapped him around a bit with telekinesis, and then left him to go on to do worse and worse things.
Every single one of them signed off on Beast's space prison (SERIOUSLY, FUCKING JUSTIFY THAT TO ME, MARVEL, THAT IS SO FUCKING EGREGIOUS).
They only turned on Beast when it affected someone that they all know, Logan. They only began to care when it was one of their own that got hurt in his machinations. And even then, they were still more than happy to let him act as a rogue agent against human interests rather than take him down.
And that's just in X-Force and Wolverine. Emma's manipulation of Havok and Empath for her political gain, anyone? The sheer rank fucking hypocrisy of sending Orphan-Maker to the Pit for the crime of killing two humans, of sending Havok to the Hellions for the crime of injuring three others, while X-Force just gets to do whatever it wants?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sheer rank, vile hypocrisy. When fucking Nanny shows more care for people than you do? That's how you know it's fucked up.
Tumblr media
Oh, shut the fuck up, Scott. You spent the Krakoan era schtupping Logan and Jean and playing war games instead of taking care of your brother - and you're either too much of a pussy to stand firm and tell him that Maddie's bad for him, or too blind to see that she's making him worse.
Either way, I don't want to hear shit about people not being pawns from the guy who formed the Utopia X-Force.
This also gives me an opportunity to talk about one of my favourite moments in the Krakoan era for Beast. Ready?
Tumblr media
When the Director of X-Force, the Butcher of Terra Verde himself, is telling you that you failed your people because of political expediency, then I'm sorry, but you fucked up.
Tumblr media
I'm really glad you feel bad about this, Emma.
Now fucking do something about it.
Fucking bullshit biotechnological oligarchy with fucked up morals and fucked up ethics and a fucked up death pit and a fucked up council and a fucked up everything.
People often complain about the Krakoan era not having great villains (Orchis got notably less threatening when they became just a palette swapped Sinister's army of palette swapped AIM beekeepers), and while that's true, there's an argument to be made that every single time someone stepped into the Quiet Council, you were being faced with twelve villains sitting at their desks, because they do not come out of the Krakoan era looking good.
Enough of them voted in favour of what X-Force did, or were happy to allow it complete carte blanche (which is just as bad if not worse), that I hold each and every one of them responsible.
Great story beats. Infuriating, in the way that all good political critique is. More of that, please.
